Waching daily Apr 13 2017

Hey guys, its me CriticalCubing and today we are going to see which speedcube is better

between the new GTS v2 and the king of 3x3 speedcube Valk3 which many cubers use as their

main.

Let the battle begin.

Price: Price of both of these cubes is similar, although the GTS v2 is a bit cheaper coming

it at about 18$ and the Valk3 coming in at about 20$.

The difference isn't that huge, hence this round is a tie.

Size and weight: Valk3 was released before the GTS v2, and the Valk3 was made 55.5 mm

in rememberance of Mats Valk's 5.55 WR solve as Mats Valk personally endorses the Valk3

cube and he helped in creation of the cube.

GTS v2 is the same size as Valk3, which I think was done so that cubers can switch from

Valk to GTS without feeling any difference in their size.

The weight of these cubes is also similar with the GTS v2 weighing roughly 80g and the

Valk3 weighing roughly 82g.

This round is again a tie as the size is the same and weight is similar.

Sticker Shades: If you remember the original GTS, it had these bad stickers which showed

this white line marks when it would start chipping.

Valk3 stickers were far better than the stickers of the original GTS.

Inspired by the Valk3 stickers, Moyu made the GTS v2 stickers also similar to that of

the Valk3, so that cubers planning to switch won't have a problem with recognition.

Smart move Moyu, very smart.

Feel and Turning: Here is where the differences start to show.

The feel of the GTS v2 is similar to that of the original GTS.

It retains the scratchy feel of the GTS, and also retains the fast speed.

The only difference is that the v2 is bit more smoother than the v1.

Valk3 feels a lot more smoother than the GTS v2 and the Valk3 also has a fast feel to it,

but the GTS v2 is faster.

The Valk3 also feels a bit more controllable than the GTS v2, as the GTS v2 can be uncontrollably

fast at time, but this can be easily fixed with some lube.

Also, the GTS v2 has a lighter turning than Valk, and the Valk3 has a more heavier turning

when compared to the GTS v2.

In this feel and turning round, I personally like the feel of the Valk3, yet the feel of

the GTS becomes better after you lube it with 50k or weight 5.

There are no winners here as different feel will suit different people, and just becuase

I like something, doesn't mean everyone will like the same.

Hence, no winners here.

Corner Cutting: Corner cutting of most modern speedcubes is the same and the GTS v2 and

Valk3 are no exceptions.

Both can cut 45 degrees with ease, and can cut line to line for reverse corner cutting

as well.

This round is a tie as both the cubes cut the same and you wouldn't have any problems

with the corner cutting.

Stability: Generally when I'm choosing a main, stability plays a huge role in it.

The original GTS was an unstable cube, one of the reasons I didn't use it much.

The Valk3 was a very stable cube, and is the reason I use it as my main.

The GTS v2 is also a stable cube, and is more stable than the original GTS, however I find

that the Valk3 is a bit more stable than the GTS v2.

The GTS v2 has a lighter feel to it and is faster than the Valk3, hence spamming TPS

is much more easier on it, however this also makes it uncontrollable at times.

Valk3 has a heavier feel to it which allows you to turn fast, yet doesn't make it uncontrollable,

which kind of makes it more stable for me.

Stability will also depends on how you setup the cube, but from my experience, the Valk3

is a bit more stable than the GTS v2, hence this round goes to the Valk3.

M Slices: Since I'm a Roux user now, M slices play a major role in my solves, and the M

slices on the GTS v2 are better than the M slices on the Valk3.

I'm also using the GTS v2 as my OH main for the same reason.

M slices on the GTS v2 are better than the M slices on the Valk3.

Lockups/Catches and Corner Twisting: Corner Twisting is practically negligible as I rarely

corner twist on both of these cubes.

Hence, as far as corner twisting goes, its a tie.

Lockups and Catches.

This will mainly depend on your turning style.

Valk3 does give lesser locks and catches, mainly because its more stable than the GTS

v2.

However, if you are able to control the GTS v2 speed properly, then the lockups will be

minimal.

Overall, the valk3 will give you less amount of locks and catches, mainly because its more

stable, hence this round is won by the Valk3.

Pops on both of these cubes is negligible and won't happen at all, hence popping round

is again a tie.

Overall Performance: Both of these cubes are the flagship of their respective companies,

hence you can expect performance to be quite high.

I personally find the performance of the GTS v2 to be a bit better than the Valk3, and

the M slices being better on the GTS v2 makes LSE a breeze and very fast, sometimes even

uncontrollable.

Valk3 also has pretty high performance, but it lacks in the M slices category, and the

heavier turning of it makes it feel a bit sluggish compared to the GTS v2 with its effortless

turning.

Although, this is also the reason why the Valk3 is more stable than the GTS v2, hence

its nothing bad.

However, I enjoy the GTS v2 more than the Valk3 and I'm also using the GTS v2 more these

days and the chances are pretty high that I'll switch and use the GTS v2 as my main.

But, just because the GTS v2 is better for me, doesn't mean that it will be the same

for you.

Why you should use the GTS v2 as your main?

The turning is effortless and quite fast.

If you personally like spamming TPS, you'll find no better cube than this.

However, due to its fast and efforless turning, its not as stable as Valk3 and you might get

lockups and catches from time to time, if you're not careful with your turning.

Overall, the GTS v2 is a solid cube for the person who believes in turning fast.

M slices are also better on it, hence LSE and anything that uses M moves, will be a

breeze.

Why you should use the Valk3 as your main?

The turning is fast, although not as fast as the GTS v2.

However, this also makes the cube more stable, and if stability is something important to

you, then look no further, valk3 is your cube.

Because of the incrased stability compared to the GTS v2, you'll also get lower amount

of catches and lockups.

Valk3 is your main cube is you want a stable and reliable cube which will fetch make you

more consistent times.

That's it for this comparison video.

Hopefully you now know which cubes you want to buy.

I hope you enjoyed this video, and don't to subscribe for more cubing content and follow

me on my social media.

Thank you for watching and I'll see you next time.

Bye!

Nektar - Duration: 1:01.

Nektar is a project that help beginners

learn how to play the acoustic guitar.

We could just clip it on to the headstock

when you want to use it and when you

don't want you can just clip it off and

keep it like a guitar capo.

Nektar is an interactive and low-cost device that

makes use of laser projections to

illuminate guitar chords so as to help

provide visual guidance for beginners to

follow intuitively. So we want to have a

more interactive device that will

teach you how to play the guitar.

The way Nektar works is you have six lasers,

one per string. Inside the box there's a

rapidly revolving mirror which spins very fast.

There's also a microcontroller

and the microcontroller calculates when

to shine the lasers so it bounces at the

right angle from the spinning mirror and

falls on the right fret. Then of course

you can load any song you want in the

memory of the microcontroller and play it.

I could just focus on the guitar itself

and look at laser guidance and to me

that's very useful and help me learn much more easily.

How to Install Cubase 9 FOR BEGINNERS - Duration: 3:52.

Now that you decided to get yourself a copy of Cubase 9, you're ready to install the

software on your system by following these few steps.

In order to install Cubase on your computer, you'll need the Cubase Installation DVD,

the USB eLicenser and a working connection to the internet.

The steps followed during installation will apply to both Windows and Macintosh computers.

First, insert the installation DVD into the DVD drive on your computer.

Next, head over to the Start Installation icon and double-click on it to start the installation

dialog.

If you got the software in a box it might be useful for you to search for an update

so that you always have the latest version.

From time to time, Steinberg will release updates to keep Cubase running smoothly.

These updates are shown as a modification of the Cubase version digits.

The first Cubase 9 release was the 9.0.0 version.

During the installation process, you'll be asked if you want to install the latest

version.

In this case, it's the 9.0.10 version without the issues that have been resolved since the

original version was released.

HOT TIP: You can see a list of all improvements and issues resolved in the update PDF for

the 9.0.10 version in the resources folder of this lesson.

Feel free to scroll down these fixes and learn a bit more about what Cubase has to offer

in behalf of improvements.

Wait for the installer to initialize and on the Welcome screen you can opt for opening

the ReadMe file or continuing the installation by clicking on the Next button.

Before installing the software make sure you read through the software licensing agreement

and select Continue.

You can change the install location and also customize your install but I would recommend

going with the standard install.

The next dialog will ask you wich packages you want to install.

You have the option of installing or not installing each package that comes with Cubase.

If there's a particular package you don't want to install, just select the package and

select no changes to the right.

You also have the option of specifying each individual installation path.

You can change that by clicking on the folder icon and then choosing a new installation

path.

If you have multiple user accounts on your computer you have the option of installing

the software for all users or just install it for the account you're logged into.

Once you selected your options click on the next button.

A list of all the packages you want to install will be shown next.

Once you're ready, click on the install button.

Because I already have the program installed and configured I'm gonna opt for not installing

it again.

This is to ensure that all the configurations I already made to my version of Cubase 9 remain

intact for educational purposes.

The first step after installing Cubase for the first time is to make sure your USB dongle

is activated and has the proper license to run the software on your system.

This step takes place only once so follow the instructions and you'll be making music

uninterrupted in no time.

Once the installation is successful, plug in your blue eLicenser, and follow the instructions

on the next video to activate your copy of Cubase 9 using the eLicenser Control Center.

On the next video we'll be learning how to activate your copy of Cubase 9 using the

eLicenser Control Center.

See you there.

Carpt: Autonomous vehicle platform - Duration: 1:31.

Carpt is a self-driving platform that

was designed to ease the transition from

human driven vehicles to autonomous cars.

When we were framing our ideation

process we started with the question:

"How might we design solutions that transform

uncertainty into excitement?"

What Carpt allows you to do is use a very seamless

mobile app to interact with our

hardware system that can transform your

human driven vehicle into a self-driving car

and actually autonomously transport

you anywhere that you want to go.

You can find a Carpt through your phone and the

Carpt will show up to you and it would

have a mechanism that would tell you if the car

is at the right position on the platform.

The idea we came up we discovered

later during the process is that it goes

beyond what we discovered in the first place.

It could be for commercial cargo use

or for private car use. If you want to move

and you don't want to hire somebody who

drives the truck, you could pre-design

self-driving pods, living spaces and then it

becomes a taxi ride sharing service.

The biggest challenge we're facing is how to

make it simple without really getting

rid of features. It should be easy to

board, safe to use. It shouldn't be too big

because there are regulations about how

big a vehicle can be. That was what we

paid the most attention to and struggled

the most but we came up with a quite

simple Carpt design that we are very proud of.

Getting started with Cubase 9 for Beginners - Duration: 14:43.

Create a new project by going over to the Steinberg hub, selecting an empty template

from the more tab and locating the project folder under one of your hard drives.

This opens up what's called the project window wich would be your starting point for any

song within Cubase.

The Project window is where you create, edit and record instruments, much like the Arrangement

Window on Ableton Live.

The project window contains different sections.

Each of these allows you to view, analyze, edit and manipulate every aspect of your song.

You have a customizable toolbar under the main menu bar and the track list in the middle

along with the event display.

At the top of the event display is the Ruler Bar and at the bottom is the transport bar

wich allows you to start and stop playback, enable cycle mode and record among other functions.

At the bottom right corner of the project window, you'll find the zoom controls to

facilitate navigation over the Project window, the Mixconsole and the Editors.

You can also zoom in and out by holding the right click over the ruler and dragging your

mouse up and down or by holding CTRL while moving the mouse wheel.

As you zoom in you increase the resolution on the ruler display and by zooming out you

decrease it.

I recommend you take the time to adjust key commands to control zoom.

By default the letters G and H on your keyboard allow you to zoom in and out not only on the

project window but also in the Mix Console and all the editors.

I configured the letter J on my keyboard to let me zoom out to the whole project so I

can quickly get an overview of my song whenever I need to.

To configure new key commands go to File>Key Commands under preferences.

We'll take a look at this window later but for now, let's just find the zoom full function

using the search box at the top.

Type in Zoom Full and hit enter.

You'll see that the box to the right indicates that the letter J is assigned as a shortcut

to this function within Cubase.

To configure a new key command for this specific function, type in any key on the black box

below and hit the assign button.

You can also see how the letters G and H show up in the key commands tree next to the new

shortcut you created for the Zoom Full function.

The left zone of the Project window allows you to display the Inspector and the Visibility

Tab wich we'll discuss in a minute.

The right zone of the Project window allows you to display the VST Instruments rack and

the MediaBay rack.

They let you add and edit VST instrument, samples, loops and a wide variety of presets.

The lower zone shows the Chord Pads, the Editor, the Sampler Control, and the Mixconsole.

The Inspector shows you controls and parameters for the selected track in the track list.

If the Inspector tab is activated at the top of the left zone, the bottom of the left zone

features two tabs: Track and Editor.

Click the Editor tab to open the Editor Inspector for the event or part that is shown in the

editor in the lower zone.

The Track Inspector and the Editor Inspector are divided into a number of sections each

containing different controls for the track, event or part.

Not all Inspector sections are shown by default.

The available sections depend on the type of the selected track, event, or part, and

on the settings in the setup dialog for the Track and Editor Inspectors.

You'll notice that when I click on different track types the inspector changes to show

you functions related to each specific track type.

To open or close sections, click their names.

Notice that opening one section closes the other sections.

To open a section without closing the other sections, Ctrl/Cmd-click the section name.

I only have selected four tabs for audio tracks.

This is to avoid cluttering the project window wich sometimes can slow down your working

process.

To open the Track Inspector Settings dialog, click Setup Inspector in the Track Inspector,

and from the pop-up menu select Setup.

The Inspector settings dialogs allow you to set up the sections that are available in

the Track Inspector.

The hidden column lists all the functions I chose to hide from view in the track inspector.

To take a look at them simply move any function to the Visible column by selecting it and

clicking on add.

You'll be learning all about each section in the Mix Console lessons wich are dedicated

to fully explain track channels.

The Visibility Inspector allows you to show or hide individual tracks from the track list

and to determine the position of certain channels in the lower zone MixConsole.

If the Visibility tab is activated at the top of the left zone, the bottom of the left

zone features two tabs: Track and Zones.

Track allows you to hide certain channels from the lower zone mix console by deactivating

the dot next to each track name.

Feel free to hide any track that doesn't need any processing since this will contribute

to unclutter your mixer.

The Zones tab is designed to divide the lower zone mix console into three main sections

to help you organize your tracks in a visual way.

Each track on the visibility tab features two dots.

The left dot positions a track to the left of the lower zone mix console, the right dot

to the right and if both dots are deactivated then your track will remain at the center

in the same position than in the project window.

I usually use the zones tab to separate group, fx, input, and output channels.

Audio and MIDI tracks remain in the center.

On the toolbar, you can activate/deactivate the status line, the info line, the overview

line, and the transport.

To show/hide tools, open the toolbar context menu by right-clicking in an empty area of

the toolbar and activate the tools that you want to display.

To save you some time I'll only be explaining the functions I normally use and that will

be shown in the projects throughout this course.

These are the features I use on a daily basis so, I highly recommend you set your DAW according

to what you see in the lessons to get you started quickly.

Later, when you feel the need, you can explore the functions that are now hidden.

The state buttons show the mute, solo, listen, and automation states.

Auto-Scroll: Allows you to keep the project cursor visible during playback.

Here's the Color Menu, the Transport Buttons and Project Root Key.

When splitting and sizing audio events, sudden amplitude changes can cause pops and clicks.

To avoid this, you can activate Snap to Zero Crossing to snap to points where the amplitude

is zero.

Snap On/Off: Allows you to activate/deactivate snap to restrict horizontal movement and positioning

to certain positions.

Snap Type: Allows you to specify to what positions you want events to snap.

Grid Type: Allows you to specify a grid type for the snap function.

Quantize: Allows you to move recorded audio or MIDI to musical relevant positions.

Performance Meter: Shows the meters for ASIO time usage and hard disk transfer load.

Window Zone Controls: Allows you to show or hide the left zone, the lower zone, and the

right zone of the Project window.

The ruler shows the timeline and the display format of the project.

To select a new display format for the ruler, click the arrow button to the right of the

ruler and select an option from the pop-up menu.

By default, the ruler is set to Bar and Beats.

This is great for positioning events in musically relevant locations.

If you're working with video, for example, you can select the seconds or time code modes.

Along with ruler modes, you can navigate to specific points in your project within the

same menu.

This is made through locators.

Locators are designed to select a range within your project that serves for a variety of

purposes.

You can use them as a navigation point accessed via key commands.

In my case, the left and right locators are assigned to number one and two on my keyboard.

This makes editing a lot faster to me as you'll see later in this course.

Locators also determined which parts of your project will be selected upon exportation.

To convert your project to a final stereo file you'll need to select a part or the

whole project by hitting CTRL+A on your keyboard.

Then you can simply drag the locators through the ruler to determine a range.

Using the key commands window I assigned the letter P to this function.

So, if I hit CTRL+A plus the letter P, I can have my project ready to export.

This is also useful to creating cycles.

By activating the cycle function on the transport bar, you can loop the region contained between

the left and right locators.

If you select one or more events and then hit the letter P on your keyboard you can

create loops fairly easy.

To assign the letter P to your list of key commands go to File>Key Commands and find

the Locators to Selection function.

Then type in the letter P on the black box and hit assign.

The status line shows the project settings, wich were configured on the Project Setup

lesson earlier.

To activate the status line, click Setup Window Layout on the toolbar and check Status Line.

The info line shows information about the event or part that you select in the project

zone.

If you select an audio event, the info line will show you the file name, the start, end,

and length of the event and more.

These options can be configured by right-clicking anywhere on the info line and selecting setup.

The functions I find myself using the most are visible and the rest remain in the hidden

column.

I'll be using the info line for a variety of techniques later on, for example, trimming

event volume to prevent plugin clipping, adjusting the location of a certain event, enabling

musical mode and transposing events to specific scales.

The toolbox makes the editing tools from the toolbar available at the mouse pointer position

by holding the right-click of your mouse over the events display.

You can also view the toolbox from the toolbar by right-clicking on it and enabling Tool

Buttons.

These are the functions that allow you manipulate an event on the events display.

You can divide, glue, enlarge and pre-listen to any particular event as you'll learn

later on this course.

The Transport allows displaying the playback and record functions in an integrated and

fixed zone of the Project window.

To show/hide tools, open the Transport context menu by right-clicking in an empty area of

the Transport and activate the tools that you want to display.

Again, to save you some time I'll only be explaining the functions I normally use and

that will be shown in my projects throughout this course.

This will make it easier for your to understand and follow up every video demonstration as

well as every other edition in the Mastering Cubase 9 series.

Common Record Modes: Allow you to determine what happens if you click Record during an

audio or MIDI recording.

Audio Record Modes: Allow you to select what happens when you record over existing audio

events.

MIDI Record Modes: Allow you to select what happens when you record over existing MIDI

parts.

We'll take a look at the recording modes in the Recording section.

Main Transport controls playback, recording and cycle functions.

Time Display allows you to visually navigate your project by showing you time and beat

locations of the main cursor.

Tempo & Time Signature of the project should be set up beforehand to ensure that the grid

in the events displays helps you locate events to musically relevant positions.

Metronome & Pre-Count are essential to recording within your song's tempo.

Input/Output Activity: Allows you to monitor the MIDI input/output signals, the audio input/output

signals and allows you to control the output level.

Finally, the tracks list shows the tracks that are used in the project.

The global track controls above the track list allow you to manage the tracks in the

track list.

Filter Track Types, Allows you to determine which track types are shown in the track list.

Number of Visible Tracks, Displays how many tracks are hidden.

Click this, to show all tracks that are filtered out with the Track Visibility.

Add Track, Allows you to add tracks to the track list.

Find Tracks, Allows you to find and select a specific track in the track list.

HOT TIP: You can divide the track list into an upper and lower track list.

These tracklists can have independent zoom and scroll controls.

Dividing the track list is useful if you are working with a video track and multi-track

audio, for example.

It allows you to place the video track in the upper track list and to scroll the audio

tracks separately in the lower track list so that they can be arranged with the video.

Video, marker or arranger tracks are automatically moved to the upper track list.

All other track types are moved to the lower track list.

On the next video, you'll be learning all about the Lower Zone inside Cubase.

See you there.

Network Bell System for Manufacturing and Schools - Duration: 2:54.

Our network bells system consists of a

network relay controller, a wired Ethernet

connection and software. It allows you to

turn on or off a bell buzzer or horn at

a scheduled time. The system is very

simple to install and easy to maintain.

The network relay controller has four

contacts two normally open and two

normally closed. You will connect your

bell or bells or horns to the contacts.

The network relay controller will then

be connected to your Ethernet. The

controller comes with software. Install

the software on a PC that resides on the

same network as the network relay

controller. Input your schedule into the

software and then the controller will

activate the bell or bells at the exact

time your event is scheduled. The network

relay controller can switch any

electrical device under 4.4

amps. A horn and a buzzer is a device

that is commonly used in manufacturing and

in warehouse environments to signal the

changes of events. These events can be

scheduled breaks or lunch or a shift change. To

change. To learn more about our bell or

buzzer please you can give us a call at

888 559 5565. Now let me just show you a

couple other things about the controller.

First, I'm going to unscrew this top just

so you can see this is where you make

your connections. You know if you have a

number of bells or buzzers

like this. We sell bells and buzzers and

you might have your own already there.

You can daisy chain and we just can't

exceed the 4.4 amps but most the time a

bell or buzzer are only milliamps. But you

connect them right here to these

contacts and then you see that it has

a PoE or LAN connection. So if you have a

PoE switch you don't even have to provide

power where this is located. All right

now the bells have to have their own

power but for the

unit it's going to get its power from

the PoE switch. Now if you don't have a

PoE switch and you just have a regular

LAN all right you'll still plug your

Ethernet cable in here and then you can

just have AC power plugged in here. If

you need it more information like I said

please give us a call at 888-559-5565.
