Is Democracy Inconvenient For This Trudeau Government? - Duration: 2:32.

Today, I'm standing outside of Langevin Block, the Prime Minister's Office here in Ottawa,

because I thought you needed to know

that the Trudeau Government is trying to transfer the seat of democratic power in Canada

from Parliament – the House of Commons and the Senate – to this building, his office.

A few months ago, Trudeau's Leader in the Senate, Senator Peter Harder,

actually declared before a Senate Committee that, in his ideal Senate,

"there should no longer be a need for an organized official opposition."

Think about that.

No need for an opposition?

The Trudeau Government has made it clear,

in both the House and the Senate,

that its preferred method of operation is to shut down debate and destroy any opposition in its path.

This shouldn't come as a huge surprise,

given that Prime Minister Trudeau has openly admired the efficiency of Communist China's "basic dictatorship."

Just as we have recently seen in the House of Commons,

the Government Leader in the Senate has released a "discussion paper"

outlining how he wants to dramatically limit debate

and dismantle the Senate's opposition tools for holding a powerful majority government to account.

Make no mistake - these changes would strike at the very heart of our democracy.

Trudeau's Senate Leader is attempting to destroy the traditional Parliamentary system of a Government and an Opposition.

The Opposition's job is not to pass Government legislation quickly.

Our role is to oppose the Government and hold it accountable for its decisions…

which is exactly why the Trudeau Government seeks to destroy it.

The Trudeau Government's grand experiment with appointing so-called "independent" senators has failed.

The Government's leadership in the Senate is ineffective, leading to much confusion and chaos.

And rather than admit failure, the Trudeau Government's Senate Leader now wants to change the rules –

changes which could silence the voice of the opposition for generations.

The Senate is a partisan, political institution and has been for 150 years.

Should we reverse 150 years of history which has served Canada well – all to cave to the whims of Justin Trudeau?

No other Prime Minister in Canadian history has ever even attempted to do this – Liberal or Conservative.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has previously called Cuban dictator Fidel Castro a "remarkable leader."

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

But this is Canada, and we cannot allow the erosion of our democratic values.

Sometimes democracy gets a little messy, and full and fair debate takes time.

Democracy might be "inconvenient" for this majority Trudeau Government, but it's not a value Canada can afford to compromise.

I'm Marching for Science! - Duration: 4:42.

March for Science - Take one!

It helps us expand our horizon

of what we know.

The broader the spectrum the

better 'cuz

the more we know the better we

can diagnose diseases

or fix problems.

Science is probably the best way

we have to get at how the world

works and ultimately the story

of basically everything.

It's to answer questions that

no one's thought of!

Or that people haven't been

able to solve

It's exciting!

Science is discovery,

science is exploration.

Science is fun,

science is learning.

It's everything! It's everything

we build, everything we are,

everywhere we live,

has science involved in it.

Science is a twelve-year-old kid

looking through a microscope for

the first time and

getting the shock of her life.

I wanna talk about how science

enriches my life!

*weird noise*

Science is a community of people

seeking to learn about the world

and the community part is really

important.

It's all about

using your understanding of the

things around you to not only

solve problems or establish facts

but to help one another

and to help build up a society

Putting pieces together from the

future and present to make

the future work.

Particularly, I think

the defining feature

of science is how it's objective

which is, I guess, it's as

objective as humans can be.

The willingness to accept

new evidence and discover

new things is

just divine.

Sorry. I'm thinking!

It's also about participating

in public conversations.

It's about using critical

thinking and analysis

to understand how things are

and what we can do to

make them better.

We've got a curiousity drive

and that shouldn't be suppressed.

I really appreciate the detail

on the interior of these walls!

I think it's really important

that we all believe in

fact based inquiry because

that's going to help us

as a society

move ahead and keep us

on the cutting edge of

what needs to be done in

this world.

this world. Supporting science is

Supporting science is

supporting us,

I guess.

We're all in this together.

We've got one earth so

we all have to take care of it.

This March for Science is an

opportunity for people to see

that scientists look like

all of us!

I know scientists are often

portrayed as being very sort of

like stuffy, uptight people

but I think every scientist that

you talk to really has a

genuine sense of wonderment.

It's so important for us to be

able to continue to discover

and understand the way that

our natural world operates.

Scientific research needs to

continue and we need to stay

informed as citizens.

It's really important for

people to celebrate all the good

that science does for the world

and to stand up for it.

This is a big complicated rock

in space covered with 7 billion

monkeys that gotta figure it out

together.

Hmmmm

I'm participating in the

March for Science because

I particpated in the Women's

March, I supported the

March for Immigrants,

I am a gay person,

I just think that all of these

issues are connected

and science is at the heart

of all of them.

Science is what tells us that

we're all the same species.

I'm participating in the

March for Science to show

unity with other like-minded

people, to share our feelings

with the world

about how important science is.

I'm participating in the

March for Science to show my

support for scientists

both past and present

and to inspire people in the

future to remain curious

about the world around us.

Science is critically important

to our society,

to our lives, and to the

lives of everything else

we share the planet with

and that's worth supporting

and marching for.

I'm participating in the

March for Science because

I benefit from science

in every aspect of my life

and I see the benefit that

science brings to other people

and the way that it's improved

the state of our world.

And you should come to the

March for Science too,

to show your support for

the little guys.

So, I wanna know from you guys

are you going to be

participating in the

March for Science and if you

are, let me know!

Write it in the comments below.

And I hope to see you here

in Chicago or in spirit all

around the world!

So satisfying.

That's fun!

That was it?

I am sweating!

BH4U | 7 Easy Ways To Remove Skin Tags Without Seeing A Doctor - Duration: 2:59.

7 Easy Ways To Remove Skin Tags Without Seeing A Doctor

Skin tags, or scientifically known as acrochordon, are a result of the accumulation of blood

vessels and collagen in the thicker parts of the skin.

They are small fleshy outgrowths, deformed in shape, which appear on the armpits, arms,

neck, eyelids, and lower part of the breast, both in women and men.

Yet, they can be successfully treated in a natural way, with these homemade remedies:

1.

Tea Tree Oil

Soak a cotton ball in some water and then pour at least 2-3 drops of tea tree oil on

it.

Rub the skin tag with the cotton ball in circular motions and really gently.

Repeat on a daily basis for a week.

2.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Just soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply it directly over the skin tag.

Repeat daily for a month.

3.

Pineapple Juice

Apply pineapple juice on the skin tag every day for a few times, and do not wash it off.

Repeat this for ten days, and the skin tag will disappear.

This method is also effective in the case of warts and moles.

4.

Onion Juice

Cut an onion, and leave it in a vessel with some salt during the night.

In the morning, squeeze the juice, and apply it to the area for 10-12 days to remove the

skin tag.

5.

Castor Oil

Prepare a paste by mixing a bit of castor oil with baking powder, and apply it on the

skin tags for 2- 4 weeks.

6.

Banana Peel

Cut a small piece of banana peel and place the inner part of it over the area with the

skin tag.

Cover it with gauze, and leave it until the morning.

Repeat until the skin tag is gone.

7.

Duct Tape

You should stick a piece of duct tape to the skin tag daily for 10-12 days to remove the

skin tag.

Skin tags are painless and unobtrusive, so you can freely remove them at home with these

simple remedies.

Yet, you should never try surgical means or castration at home, in order to prevent infections

and additional complications.

For Instructors: How to Grade Sakai Discussion Posts - Duration: 4:02.

[silence]

When it's time to grade your students' discussion posts,

Sakai makes it easy to link the discussion topic to the gradebook.

In this video, we'll associate a discussion topic with a

gradebook item, and then we'll show you how to view and

grade your students' posts.

Let's begin by linking the discussion topic we'll be grading

to the gradebook.

This is an important first step because Sakai doesn't automatically

create a gradebook item when you create a discussion topic.

On the course menu, we'll click on Gradebook

and then Add Gradebook Item.

In the Title field, I'll type the name of the forum topic we'll be grading.

In this example, it's Week 1 Topic.

I'll give it a Point value...

and a due date.

[silence]

If using Categories, click the drop-down menu next to

Uncategorized and select a Category.

I'll leave the next two options, Release item to students and

Include item in course grade calculations selected.

Respectively, these options will allow your students to see the

grade for this item and allow this gradebook item

to be included as part of your students' final grades.

We'll click Create and the item appears as a column

in the gradebook.

OK, let's associate a discussion topic with this item.

From the course menu, click Forums...

and locate the topic you'd like to grade.

Click Topic Settings and scroll down to the Grading section

to select the gradebook item we created.

Right now, it's not appearing.

Sometimes, it takes a few minutes for the item to appear, so we'll save and

try again in a moment.

OK, let's reopen the topic settings, scroll down,

and select the gradebook item.

There we go!

Remember to save, and we're ready to grade this

discussion topic.

To quickly view a student's posts and replies for a topic,

click the topic's More drop-down menu, and select Grade.

Select a student, and a dialog box containing that

student's posts and replies for this topic appears.

When you're done reviewing the student's work, click Close Window

to return to the list.

Enter a grade for the student's work, and if you

would like to add a comment for that student, click Show Comments.

A box appears allowing you to type your feedback.

To review another student's posts and replies, click the student's name.

It's important to note that Sakai doesn't automatically save

your grades, so after you've entered grades for a couple of students,

you'll want to submit their grades by scrolling down and

clicking the Submit Grades button.

After you've entered all of the grades for a topic, you can

confirm that the grades and your comments have been sent

to the gradebook by clicking Gradebook on the Course menu,

and locating the topic's gradebook column.

All of the grades appear in the column, and a comment icon

appears next to those grades in which a comment was provided.

Here's a few tips to help you as you grade topics:

Create and share a rubric with your students to help

them understand your expectations for discussion as well as to help

you determine whether they have completed all of the criteria.

You can copy and paste rubric content into Comments as feedback,

and then modify it to personalize the comment

for each of your students.

When reviewing student posts and replies in the grading area,

avoid clicking the Details link.

It will take you away from the grading area,

and you could lose everything you've typed.

Instead, when reviewing posts and replies, you'll always want to click

on the name of your student.

It's a good idea to submit the grades you've entered

after grading one or two students.

This will help ensure that you don't lose anything.

Click the Show Comments column title to review the

feedback you provided.

If you need assistance with how to set up a gradebook item or

with how to grade a topic,

please contact sakaihelp@durhamtech.edu

Accept Billing Responsibility | AT&T Account Management - Duration: 2:30.

[♪music♪]

This video shows how you can take over billing responsibility

for an AT&T wireless number from another person.

There are 2 parts to the transfer process.

First, the requestor (or current AT&T account owner)

starts the process to transfer the wireless number.

Second, the acceptor (or future owner)

completes the process

and accepts the billing responsibility for the line.

With myAT&T,

the entire process can be done online from a computer

or on the myAT&T app on your mobile device.

If you don't already have an account with AT&T, that's OK.

A new AT&T account will be created.

Here are some things you need to know before you begin.

The acceptor must be an adult.

You complete a credit evaluation during the acceptance process

and may be asked to pay a deposit.

If you already have an AT&T account,

it can't have a past-due balance.

Any past-due balances can be paid online in myAT&T

before you begin the process.

As the new owner,

you'll accept full billing responsibility for the line

beginning on the transfer date.

This includes service contract

or AT&T Next retail installment agreements, if any.

And last, you'll select from the plans and features

that we currently offer.

Here's how to accept billing responsibility

for the wireless number.

You'll receive an email from AT&T

explaining a transfer to you has been requested.

Either click on the link in the transfer request email

that was automatically sent to you,

or if they already have an AT&T account,

the acceptor can log in to myAT&T;

select "Billing & payments";

and then select "Transfer billing responsibility".

You'll need to complete this process within 14 days

from when the original owner requested the transfer.

We'll ask for some information to complete the acceptance.

During the process, as the new owner,

you'll choose the plan for each line being transferred.

You'll also need to accept the Wireless Customer Agreement.

If applicable,

acceptance of any Next retail installment agreements

will also occur.

When the information is entered,

just select "Complete Transfer", and the transfer is all set.

You'll receive a confirmation email.

The requestor will receive 1 final prorated bill,

which covers charges up to the date

the transfer of billing was completed.

In addition, the new owner's first bill

may also include prorated charges for service

from the date of the transfer to the monthly billing date.

For more information about transferring wireless service

to another person,

please visit att.com/transferservice.

Thanks for choosing AT&T!

UBC researcher sees future for flax and hemp as particleboard alternative - Duration: 2:05.

In Canada, in 2013, most of the mills in

Eastern Canada experienced

a lot of problems with

non-uniform would supply. Sawmills were

shutting down. They had to travel long

distances to get the wood residues

So the idea was are there any abundance

residues around aside wood that

can still produce particle board with the

same kind of properties. My PhD research

was on using flax and hemp residues as

alternative material raw material for

particle board compared to the wood

that is on the market. The first test

I'd perform would be a bending test a

three-point bending test where I apply a

load to the boards to be able to

determine their strength and stiffness. I

would also perform a thickness swell test

where we submerge the board one inch

below fresh water for two hours and 24

hours to be able to determine its water absorption

characteristics. The flax and hemp

are stronger and thinner. You can use

them to make applications different

applications like high-end furniture

where you make a thinner lighter board.

The downside of using the flax

and hemp residue is the fact that they

have a waxy outer layer that makes it

very difficult for the traditional glues

to be able to penetrate the surface

Instead a more expensive pMDI resin has

to be used. Currently in Europe, there are

a number of companies that are actually

making these flax and hemp boards and

using them for furniture. At the moment

there isn't a facility a particle board

mill in Canada using the flax or

hemp residues but this research proves

that it's possible. It gives people the

idea that you know what? Everything is

possible

The Explosion Became a Personal Tragedy for St. Petersburg Citizens - Duration: 7:31.

Returning to the tragedy in St. Petersburg, which took place in the beginning of the week,

it's worth remembering how impregnably, strongly and proactively the citizens took the blow.

There was no panic.

People showed full mutual assistance, when in ordinary life situations,

they would probably have never spoken to each other.

Different directions in life, different activities, different education, different income,

different ages and many other things.

But the unexpected tragedy became a common one.

Alexander Balitsky reports from St. Petersburg.

How do you feel?

-Good. -Thank God.

It seems to be a meeting of longtime friends, although they only met once.

I immediately grabbed him and asked him not to leave me, not to abandon me.

Auto mechanic Gennady and a graduate of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Evelina.

Gennady carried her in his arms from the subway.

She was in blood and a step away from the terrorist, that is, in the very center of the explosion.

I took her by the arm and said that we should leave.

And we went to the escalator.

She asked me to call her dad.

I asked him to say that I was alive, that I was all right,

that I would be taken to hospital.

It was just important for me that my parents knew about this.

Three days of unconsciousness in the intensive care unit, several hardest surgeries.

All this is over.

The face of Evelina was literally put back together by the doctors.

She had no nose or cheek tissue.

It's a miracle that she can still see.

Help and words of support come from everywhere.

A woman from Vladivostok sent 20 rubles and said she couldn't give more,

but wished us good health.

Do you understand? It costs a lot more than any big amount of money.

The first seconds after the explosion.

Call an ambulance! Call an ambulance!

Emergency services are already rushing to the scene of the tragedy.

But before that, the survivors and those who were accidentally on the platform

were breaking doors and windows, pulling the seriously injured from the wrecked wagon.

Give me your hand! Give me your hand!

When subway workers led people to the escalator and outside fearing further explosions,

Yulia Valueva, on the contrary, rushed back.

Together with a guy whose name she did not remember,

the nurse bandaged wounds with clothes, stopped the bleeding with straps and laces.

Wearing a beige jacket, thinking not about herself, but about how to help the others,

she rushed from one wounded to another.

Hold on a little.

Most of all she remembered the frightened eyes of a girl.

A very strong young girl.

She told me that she thought she had no leg, that her leg had been torn off.

Fine? Conscious?

Well done.

What could I tell a child? How could I frighten her, shock her?

I just said that she had an open fracture, that everything was fine,

that we would put her back together and that she should only be patient.

Faster! Take and carry!

Coping with emotions was most difficult,

as resident physician Amal Dzhumaeva later admitted.

She came to St. Petersburg from Chechnya to study in the First Medical Institute.

For a few seconds she also got into the video shot on the platform.

I was still in the subway when I called my mom.

She said that first I needed to calm down.

Check how many wounded there are and whether they need help.

And you should help them.

There were a lot of people with open fractures, with torn wounds.

Everything had to be done quickly, we only had seconds.

These seconds become salutary for the most seriously wounded

also due to the competent behavior of the motorman.

When Alexander Kaverin was informed about the explosion

from all the wagons through a speakerphone,

it was impossible to understand anything, he made the only correct decision.

After the explosion the motorman didn't stop the broken train, but drove it to the next station,

Technologichesky Institut, and saved the lives of many victims,

because the evacuation from the tunnel would have required much more time, and there was none.

On the one hand, there was a contact rail, it wouldn't have been possible to exit there,

you can't walk along the contact rail.

On the other hand, stretchers are narrow.

How can the victims be evacuated?

It was impossible to take them out.

I was waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, for the stop at the station.

When I realized that we didn't stop and kept going,

that we wouldn't suffocate and burn in the tunnel, this minute was the longest.

Volunteers transferred money to motorman Kaverin as a token of gratitude.

However, he decided not to accept it and transfer it to those who needed it much more,

to the wounded passengers.

They say to me, "Don't you realize that you committed a heroic deed?"

I say, "Do you understand that I did my job, I just did my job?"

Late in the evening on April 3, Vladimir Putin came to the scene of the tragedy.

He laid a bouquet of scarlet roses to the spontaneous memorial right at the entrance to the Technolozhka,

as the citizens of St. Petersburg have always called Technologichesky Institut station.

In these exceptional days it was important and necessary to support each other.

People didn't have to ask for help.

The city authorities put one and a half hundred additional buses in operation.

Public transport was free of charge.

When the metro was closed, even buses weren't able to drive everyone to their homes.

The relay was taken by large taxi companies and ordinary drivers.

People offered to give a lift to others.

I'm going to Vasilievsky Ostrov, I'll give a lift.

I'm driving along the western high-speed diameter to the Primorsky district,

there are two seats.

At 6-6.30 p.m. going in the direction of Mezhdunarodnaya. Who needs a lift?

We are helping those who need it.

The subway isn't working.

Some people have to take children from kindergartens, like I'm now going to get my kid.

Some gas stations gave gasoline to the volunteers for free.

It was enough to say the code word "home".

For a period of time airlines agreed to cancel penalties for returned tickets.

Many were late to the airport just because of the traffic jams.

The cafes warmed people with free tea and coffee.

This was the minimum we could do.

We made such a decision to also help somehow.

At stations of blood transfusion there were queues of people wanting to donate.

And on social networks everyone was looking for those who helped save lives,

to say "thank you", and funds were being collected for the families of those who died.

There is a life before and a life after.

We are in the subway, mother is in blood,

mother is unconscious.

Sasha, help.

Alena was with her mother until the very end.

Irina Medyantseva made dolls.

The angel was her favorite image.

That day, her own angel didn't help.

Irina died on the way to the hospital.

Before that, in the wagon, she actually covered her daughter.

22-year-old Maksim Aryshev from Kazakhstan.

Student Dilbar Aliyeva from Azerbaijan.

Coach and Russian champion in hand-to-hand combat Denis Petrov.

13 people.

Young, active, dreaming.

The pain of their families is now shared by the whole country

and the city with a special character,

which has shown many times that nobody could break it or intimidate it.

No one remained indifferent,

this is the only city in which such people live.

I can proudly say that I am a resident of this city, I live with such people.

There are no indifferent ones here, no heartless ones.

Yulia knows that tomorrow she will go down to the subway again

and again pass by the station where she will come out to bow.

For almost all people here, this tragedy has become personal.

Alexander Balitsky, Galina Orlova, Victoria Golovkina,

Stanislav Ponomarenko and Konstantin Rodin, Vesti News of the Week from St. Petersburg.
