What is going on world I am SEF and in this video I'm going to show you a few
of my sell sheet examples that actually need two companies in the past for
licensing subscribe by hitting the button and the notification bell next to
it so you could receive updates on any new videos posted onto the channel
alright if you haven't watched the previous video with my sell sheet
examples I encourage you to do so in the first half of that video I quickly went
over what a sell sheet is but as a refresher a sell sheet is a print ad for
your product idea except this print ad is showcasing a product that doesn't
exist yet and instead of it being viewed by potential customers or consumers it
is viewed by potential licensees with that said let's go and dive into a few
of my examples now this is a little caveat these next examples aren't the
greatest of examples they are very stripped the context is
that these are novelty ideas sent to novelty companies and I have had a
direct contact with in each of these companies where I would just quickly
comp something up together email it over to them and they would email me back
with their feedback as quick as they can so with that said let's dive into it
first example is a stress ball I don't know if you guys ever experienced the
beach ball of death it is a very scary feeling to have especially as a Mac user
if you're spending hours and hours writing an essay or spending lots of
time on Photoshop and you forgot to save well this beach ball of death would give
us a slight anxiety attack when it shows up on a computer screen so as a way to
cope with that stress and anxiety the idea was to create a little stress ball
out of it sent this to a few novelty companies
they said it was funny but it is the wrong demographic which I get so this
idea to Mack tofu very simple it doesn't even have a product description but it
has the elements of a sell sheet you've got your contact information your CTA
call to action your image of the product product headline and but there's no
product description you could quickly get what this product is just from
looking at the images sure words help I didn't really meet to at that time all
right this is another novelty idea but for babies this time and for this one
actually was like oh it'd be fun if you did it with a bunch of different flowers
so I sent while this was a single PDF with these two sheets or pages in this
PDF and I would just email it out to the contacts and they said it was fun they
really liked it and it was cute but it would be dangerous for kids and that
made sense and that instantly made this idea not go through which is fine but
it's a cute idea they look really cute I think coming up with ideas in the baby
industry you're gonna have to be mindful of these kind of things if the edges are
too sharp or if it's going to be dangerous or if it's potential choking
hazard these are all things that you have to think about when you are
designing for these industries and that was a learning moment for me this would
be too dangerous for kids alright next novelty product this is also a pair and
this is actual physical prototype that I've made just because it I thought it
was a fun idea and it doesn't really take much to go and put these prototypes
together I made two different versions of this product idea one is with the
triangle pointing cursor and the other one is with the hand cursor so these are
physical prototypes all I did was get a retractable pointer and I
just cut off the tip of it and I just made a little well I guess I made the
little figures of the hands and I just glued it on and took a picture of it so
this is very very bare looking cell sheet I think this is considered as well
a lot of these I think that I'm going show or not fully fleshed out sell
sheets but that's fine again the context this the the reason for this not going
through is because it's just too small of a niche there isn't enough people
that are buying retractable pointers
it's it is a fun idea it's cool that I was able to make a little prototype and
it doesn't really require much for you to go and put this stuff together if you
were able to MacGyver this stuff and foot use just things lying around your
house or buying something at the store and and cutting something and taping it
and gluing it and just taking a picture of it you're able to create a pretty
effective sell sheet as long as it communicates the idea in this case the
market just wasn't big enough too small of a niche next idea
this one is a yoga mat if you're familiar with Pantone swatches they are
the I guess the standard when it comes to color swatches and just color in
general and they have a specific style of how these paint swatches look like is
the color on top and the bottom is white with Pantone and then the name or number
of what that color would be and I thought it would be funny to go and
apply that same swatch in two yoga mats try chopping it around didn't get any
injuries it's fun there's like fun idea but it just isn't too large of a demand
for these companies to go and actually bring it on and have it be part of their
product line because if you think about it from a product company's perspective
if they bring on a product that doesn't have much devant demand and they spend a
lot of money making it when they when they put it out into market and start
selling it there's no profit coming in to actually losing money because it cost
more to make it than money coming in it's a problem so they don't want to go
down that route where take that risk of launching a product that doesn't have
enough demand because they'll lose a lot of money which I get and that's one
thing that you would need to think about when you are coming up with these ideas
is it marketable and would there be a huge demand for it that's something that
I've realized is very important when it comes to licensing ideas you want to be
in a space where it has demand a bit if there's some sense of scalability and
the amount of units and products sold all right so those are all these sell
sheets and for this video there's plenty of more that I would love to start
sharing with you guys if you guys like it in the last video I mentioned that
there's a free sell sheet checklist that I've put together and I would like to
still share that with you guys it's a sell sheet that sells checklist you just
need to go and follow that checklist and just mark the check boxes once you
create that element of a sell sheet and once you put that sell sheet together
you'll be able to send it out and start hitting up companies and that way you'll
be one step closer to getting a licensing deal on the table all right if
you like this type of content I'd really appreciate it if you give me a thumbs up
it lets me know if you like it and I will start making more content like this
and I'm always curious to see and hear how other product developers are doing
their ideas how are how are they licensing their ideas and I would love
to hear it in the comment section below please share your process I hope you
liked it if you have any friends that would and get any benefit or value from
it I encourage you to share it and until the next video
