Waching daily Jan 5 2018

Yesterday, People Magazine revealed their choice for the sexiest man alive in 2017.

And the winner is Blake Shelton!

[APPLAUSE] Now, upon hearing that he had won the honor, Shelton told People quote,

y'all must be running out of people. >> [LAUGH]

>> I love him for that.

>> [LAUGH]

>> I love him for that because

he doesn't take himself seriously. >> [LAUGH]

>> No, he doesn't.

I think actually that- >> Cuz even he's surprised.

>> Yeah.

>> Me, I'm the sexiest?

Okay, I'm upset about him being

the sexiest. >> Why?

>> I got some issues.

>> Why?

>> What does sexy men to you?

>> Come on, exactly.

>> No, to you.

The whole point is that's not the sexiest in 2017, all right?

I'm sorry. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> Some people might be agreeing with

Lonnie over here online.

I'm actually reading right now @dancingbiodork said

>> Definitely not, LOL,

about being the sexiest man.

I will take Idris Elba or Shemar Moore any day.

>> [APPLAUSE]

>> No offense.

Blake is handsome, just not deserving of the title.

>> Don't get me wrong.

I mean, if you're gonna do him, then you might as well

make me the sexiest woman of 2017. >> Which I would be

[CROSSTALK]. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> She's sexy.

>> They're all great.

>> My dad's friends,

they talk about you all the time Lonnie, no, yeah, they say you're really

>> No, you ain't putting me on, no,

I won't let people do that, okay? >> [LAUGH]

>> There are sexy, I mean Idris Elba,

Shemar Moore, Ken Harrington.

Who thinks Ken is sexy? >> But I will tell you this.

Okay, I was a little surprised when I saw the picture.

However, sometimes sexiness isn't just what you-

>> Why was you surprised?

>> No, honestly, sometimes-

>> He don't even do that.

>> Because, sometimes sexiness isn't,

Lonnie.

Lonnie, sometimes sexiness isn't just what you look like.

I actually met him in person.

And he has this swag. >> That's what I was gonna say.

>> Honestly, he does.

>> Yes, witty, sarcastic.

>> He's very tall.

He has broad shoulders. >> Then he should be the sagiest person,

but not the sexiest. >> No, I'm telling you-

>> Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

We talk about that all the time on The Real.

>> I'm gonna confirm with you.

I've met him on set when he's at work. >> Yeah.

>> He's such a dope, nice gentlemen, and

he makes you feel really comfortable- >> I get that.

>> And I think that sexy doesn't have

to always be looks. >> But, that's not sexy.

That's not sexiest. >> It can be a really confident man.

I look at the way he carries himself- >> He could be the warmest

man. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> He could be the nicest man.

>> No, I think he's sexy because

he looks like he likes to have sex.

>> Yeah, yeah.

>> Really?

>> What? >> Yeah.

>> He looks like he likes to have sex.

>> That's not even the sexiest.

>> That's just he likes to have sex.

>> That's sexy,

he looks like- >> And

he's not always out there showing his body.

I like that we've never seen Blake without his shirt on.

>> But you don't want me to show my body

either. >> Could you clap a little louder

with me? >> [APPLAUSE]

>> Yes, we do,

yes. >> No.

>> No.

>> I think for a guy who is

a nonconventional sexy, it's okay. >> My God, here we go.

He's not out there trying to be like- >> No, but I think there are different

versions of sexy. >> I was just gonna say that.

Still Not Sure What The Four Is All About? "It's Like Game of Thrones," Teases Sean "Diddy" Combs - Duration: 3:07.

Still Not Sure What The Four Is All About? "It's Like Game of Thrones," Teases Sean "Diddy" Combs

On paper, Foxs new music competition event series The Four seems, well, complicated. When the show premieres on Thursday, Jan. 4, the producers will have already narrowed down their titular four finalists, the cream of the crop.

From that point, those four vocalists will be tasked with the challenge of defending their seats against a barrage of viewers like you at home who sit back and think, I can sing better than that. Filming in real time, those challengers will be brought into the Colosseum to put their money where their tweets mouths are.

Battles will ensure, favorites will fall, and a new approach to an aged genre of reality TV will rise. Or so the illustrious panel of judges and host Fox has gathered from the music industry hopes.

But will fans of the music competition genre connect with The Four? Or even understand it? Producer and panelist Sean Diddy Combs sure hopes so.

Because theres always a dream and thats what drove me to be a part of this show. Theres always a dream.

I did it back in the days with Making the Band, he told journalists during the shows panel at the Fox day for the 2018 Winter TCA Press Tour when asked what drove him to the show.

This show is different. In the drop of a second, you could just lose your seat.

The other shows dont really have that personal combative nature…Another thing this show doesnt have, as far as from a business standpoint, that they really focused on was what happens the day after you win.

Fox has done a great job making sure that they day after you win, youre in the right hands to move forward. Thats right--when the shows six weeks are up and a winner is announced, that lucky individual will have their new career put into the hands of Diddy and his fellow panelists, Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled and Republic Records president Charlie Walk, with that group of music royalty tasked with making sure the winner becomes a star.

And with the backing of iHeartRadio, who will spotlight the winner after theyre crowned, thats certainly more than The Fours competitors are offering.

Addressing concern that viewers have gotten music competition fatigue over the years, the talent admitted that theyre not too worried. As long as theres music, this genre can continue to grow, Diddy said.

Were coming with a rambunctious, captivating…energy. You cant put a cap on success in talent. Theres new talent thats coming out every day, DJ Khaled added.

This is music were talking about. its forever. The biggest thing I think is that you start off with these four and they have something to lose.

They already have that seat, host Fergie said, pointing to why The Four stands out. Theyre the best of the best and they have to defend that seat…The stakes make it that much higher.

With each week delivering a mix of The Voices battle rounds and American Idols nerve-wracking fan voting process, along with some borrowed elements from the other music competitions that have come and gone, The Four sounds both like something of a Frankenstein series and something wholly original.

But for Diddy, its pretty easy. Its kind of simple.

Its like Game of Thrones, he said. You get the challenge and if you want to chop somebodys head off to get the seat… Get ready, aspiring superstars, because winter, it seems, is here. The Four premieres tonight at 8 p.m.

The InterContinental Hong Kong Is Closing For 12-16 Months - Duration: 6:14.

The InterContinental Hong Kong Is Closing For 12-16 Months

The InterContinental Hong Kong is one of Hong Kong's most iconic hotels.

Actually, I'd say it's one of the best city hotels in the world in terms of the views it has.

The hotel is located in Kowloon on the Avenue of Stars, so it has unrivaled views as far as Hong Kong goes.

However, there's no denying that the hotel is starting to be past its prime.

While the hotel has undergone some minor renovations, they haven't made any major changes, and I'd say at this point the hotel is barely competitive in Hong Kong's luxury market.

I reviewed the InterContinental last year, as I stayed here using the annual free night certificate offered with the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card.

It was an exceptional use of that (given that the card only has a $49 annual fee), though I'm not sure I would have been as happy if paying cash.

In 2015 the hotel was sold for almost a billion USD to some investors, making it one of the most expensive single hotel deals ever.

In order to hopefully capture the hotel's potential, the InterContinental Hong Kong will be closing for a period of 12-16 months so it can be completely transformed.

The hotel is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019, with an anticipated reopening sometime in 2020.

The hotel claims that this renovation will "position it as one of the top hotels not only in Asia, but also as one of the world's most iconic hotels.".

Every aspect of the hotel will be renovated, ranging from the guest rooms to the public areas to the restaurants to the hotel's exterior.

Per the press release, here's what the hotel's GM and the president of the company that bought the hotel have to say about the renovations:.

Claus Pedersen, General Manager, InterContinental Hong Kong, says, "For over three decades our hotel has enjoyed a loyal following of guests not only because of our acclaimed dining, accommodations and harbour views, but also because of the outstanding service by our dedicated employees.

As such, our employees will be part of our exciting renovation journey, so that we can maintain the exceptionally high service levels of our hotel and Michelin restaurants.".

Kenneth Gaw, President and Managing Principal of Gaw Capital Partners and Managing Director of Pioneer Global Group, says, "InterContinental Hong Kong has always had a special place in the hearts of the local community here as the diamond in the 'Pearl of the Orient'.

We are thrilled and committed to return the property back to its glory days as one of the best hotels in the world.

Following this exciting transformation, InterContinental Hong Kong will once again become a contemporary, iconic hotel for global travellers and will thrive as a world class destination." Gaw Capital Partners led the acquisition of this hotel on behalf of a consortium of investors in 2015, including Pioneer Global Group.

I'm curious to see what they do with the hotel.

Given how much they paid for the property itself, it seems smart to invest some money renovating it so that the hotel can live up to its potential.

My initial thought was that it seems like this hotel might be better off under a different brand.

Maybe it's just me, but I generally think of InterContinentals as being past their prime, and they have very few properties that I'd consider to be true luxury hotels.

However, IHG does have a long term management contract for the hotel, so it's unlikely that we'll see it rebranded.

On the plus side, this hotel has a lot of name recognition in Hong Kong, so even if InterContinental globally isn't thought of as the most luxurious brand, many people do know the InterContinental Hong Kong.
