Arsenal fans think they know the REAL reason Mesut Ozil is out of Burnley clash

Alex Iwobi replacing Ozil in the Arsenal's starting XI at Turf Moor was Arsene Wenger's only change following the Gunners' 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Tottenham in the Premier League last weekend.

The German playmaker played 84 minutes in the defeat of Spurs but did not travel to Cologne on Thursday night as the north London giants were beaten 1-0 by the Bundesliga outfit.

With Ozil out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, it's understood the Gunners are ready to cash-in on the midfielder – and Alexis Sanchez – in January.

Both Manchester United and Barcelona are being linked with moves for the World Cup winner and Sunday's team news had many Gooners fearing the worst.

A number of supporters speculated that Ozil was probably in Barcelona negotiating terms over a move to the Nou Camp in the new year.
