Jose Mourinho handed hope in £45m chase for Perisic as Inter boss says he is not bigger than club

JOSE MOURINHO has been given hope in his bid to sign winger Ivan Perisic. The Manchester United boss is trying to thrash out a £45million deal for the Inter Milan star, 28.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho desperately wants to sign the Croat in a £45m deal.

And Inter boss Luciano Spalletti says the Croatia international — who scored for the Italians in a 2-1 friendly win over Chelsea in Singapore yesterday — is not bigger than the club.

He said: "For the last two years Perisic has played at Inter. With Perisic we didn't win anything. The team is important — not one player.". United had previously been reluctant to match Inters asking price for the 28-year-old.

But Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is under pressure to meet Mourinho's wishes as the Portuguese boss lines up two more signings.

Chelsea have been linked with Inter winger Antonio Candreva but the Italian would only leave if a replacement is found.

Spalletti said: "A lot of things happened during this summer in the market and this is another thing. But this is not true.

Ivan Perisic was on the scoresheet as Inter Milan beat Chelsea.

CELTIC wonderkid Karamoko Dembele is back on Chelsea's radar. The Blues have already begun moves to snap up the tiny winger, 14.

The 14-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football. Dembele played for Celtic's Under-20 side aged just 13 and is seen as one of the hottest young talents in Europe.

He is eligible to play for both England and Scotland, but rocked the Three Lions after playing against England for Scotland in a 2-0 win on Friday.

That followed a stunning performance in a 7-0 win for Scotland Under-16s, where Dembele scored a brilliant solo goal, while having a hand in two more.

Scotland U16s won the tournament, beating Uruguay 2-0 in the final – Dembele scored a penalty in the win. His extraordinary talent has inevitably caught the attention of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian has already picked up Billy Gilmour, 16, from Celtic's Glasgow rivals Rangers.

Dembele played against England in 2-0 win last week.

He is eligible to play for the Three Lions.
