The American ambassador to the UN says the "time for talk is over" regarding North Korea,

following its latest ballistic missile test.

Nikki Haley's patience with China is also running thin.

She says Beijing must condemn the regime, and actively deter any further provocations.

Yu Joonhee reports.

Ambassador Nikki Haley say there is "no point" in holding another emergency session of the

UN Security Council,... unless the international community is willing to seriously challenge

North Korea.

In a statement released on Sunday, Haley said...

Pyongyang has already defied numerous UN sanctions,... and further talks would be a "waste of time",

in the absence of full cooperation from UN member states.

She also echoed President Trump's opinion,... that China must take a more active role in

reining in the rogue state, being its main trading partner and lone military ally.

Trump vented his frustration over China's indifferent stance, tweeting on Sunday that

Beijing had done nothing to address the regime's growing threat.

Vice President Mike Pence, was also stern in his view that the U.S. should continue

applying intense pressure on North Korea, until it forfeits its nuclear and missile

programs.

Speaking to reporters during an official trip to Estonia on Sunday,...

Pence said Washington would gather the support of nations across the world to further isolate

Pyongyang economically and diplomatically.

He also appeared to take aim at the previous administration's foreign policy approach,

saying the "era of strategic patience is over" with North Korea.

The Vice President was softer in his criticism of Beijing,... saying although China could

do more... it had taken unprecedented steps to rein in the pariah state.

Pence pointed out China's unique relationship with the Kim Jong-un regime,... that gives

it a rare ability to significantly influence decisions made by the North.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims letting players contracts enter final year is an 'ideal situation'

Arsene Wenger has made the baffling claim that allowing players to enter the final year of their contracts is an ideal situation.

Arsenal could lose more than £100million in transfer fees with seven first-team players in the final 12 months of their contracts.

Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy and Santi Cazorla can all leave for nothing next summer as it stands.   Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not concerned about the contracts of his first-team players.

The Gunners are sweating over Alexis Sanchez, with his contract expiring next summer. Oxlade-Chamberlain was the only one of the seven to start the 2-1 defeat to Sevilla on Sunday.

Alexandre Lacazettes first goal for Arsenal may have been a consolation in the game, but as the Emirates Cup awards points for each goal scored, it turned out to be the goal that clinched the trophy for Arsenal.

Strikes from Joaquin Correa and Steven NZonzi ensured Sevilla won both their games, but it was not enough to overhaul Arsenal in the table. Speaking after the match, Wenger insisted he has no problem with the uncertainty surrounding his squad.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is among those who will need to negotiate a new deal beyond 2018.

It is not an issue, I think its an ideal situation, said Wenger. Why? Because everyone has to perform. You perform until the last day of your contract.

Do you think they sit in the dressing room and think, I have one year to go, I will not play well today? Where does that come from? Even if they run down their contracts, it doesnt matter.

It looks normal to me.. Wenger also admitted he has been left in the dark over prized-asset Sanchezs contract saga.

Wenger does not believe having players in their final year of their contract is a big issue. Sportsmail revealed last week that talks between Arsenal and the Chileans advisors had broken down.

Sanchez is due to fly back to London tonight before reporting for training tomorrow, and Wenger said: Nobody knows if Sanchez will extend his contract.

Sanchez and Shkodran Mustafi are set to miss Sundays Community Shield against Chelsea and are doubts for the league opener against Leicester on August 12.

Francis Coquelin is out of the the Wembley curtain-raiser with an ankle ligament injury sustained in Saturdays 5-2 win over Benfica.
