The International Horticulture Goyang Korea is one of the biggest and most famous flower

exhibitions in Korea.

And this year it's going to be a truly global event... as our Lee Unshin reports.

Here at Ilsan Lake Park in western Gyeonggi-do Province, spring is in full bloom.

With about 5,000 different kinds of flowers, the lake park has turned into something out

of a fairy tale.

This garden of spring blossoms is a must-see for visitors and a botanical sanctuary for

area residents who want a break from life in the city.

It's the annual International Horticulture Goyang Korea.

A festival bringing in tulips from the Netherlands, roses from Ecuador... -- exotic beauty is

found in every corner of the garden.

Companies from some 30 countries have joined forces to put on year's event, one of Korea's

biggest flower festivals... and the one with the biggest variety of blossoms.

"It's first time that I see one event so big like that.

I'm really happy to see it because there are some really different kinds of flowers."

"Being surrounded by all these flowers reminds of childhood innocence.

This is a perfect way to appreciate the season."

"The garden is a lot bigger than I expected.

The display of flowers is amazing, I love it."

Visitors can also walk into a room filled with seasonal fragrances.

There's a collection of air-purifying plants, one-of-a-kind multi-colored blossoms... not

to mention the floral home-decor and art pieces that hang delicately from the ceiling... and

those are just a few of the displays at the indoor exhibition.

With visitors rediscovering the beauty of flowers -- one of the charms of springtime

we sometimes overlook in our busy lives -- the festival is expected to breathe new life into

the floral industry.

"At the moment, flower businesses around the world aren't doing so well, and Korean flower

shops took a hit from a law that took effect last year meant to fight corruption.

I believe this event will help revive the industry and the local economy."

With more than 600-thousand local and international visitors expected here, the festival promises

an unforgettable experience of spring and a new way to appreciate nature.

Brașov is a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains.

It's known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes.

According to the last Romanian census, from 2011, there were 253,200 people living within the city of Brașov,

Brașov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 kilometres (103 miles) north of Bucharest and 380 kilometres (236 miles) from the Black Sea.

It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the Transylvania region.

The nearby Bran Castle, attracting many fans of Dracula and often (but incorrectly) said to have been the home of Vlad the Impaler.

Râșnov is a town in Brașov County, with a population of under 16,000.

It is located at about 15 km from the city of Brașov and about the same distance from Bran,

on the road that links Wallachia and Transylvania.

The city is notable for being the birthplace of the national anthem of Romania

and for hosting the Golden Stag International Music Festival.

The old city is very well preserved and is best seen by taking the cable-car to the top of Tâmpa Mountain.

"The Black Church", a celebrated Gothic site

The building dates from 1477, when it replaced an older church (demolished around 1385).

Its acquired the name after being blackened by smoke from the 1689 great fire.

With its central location, Brașov is a suitable location from which to explore Romania,

and the distances to several tourist destinations

including the Black Sea resorts, the monasteries in northern Moldavia,

and the wooden churches of Maramureș) are similar.

It is also the largest city in a mountain resorts area.

China's defense ministry plans to counter THAAD with new weapons - Duration: 1:45.

China has reiterated that the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system to South

Korea is a dangerous threat to regional stability.

Beijing's defense ministry says the deployment has deepened its resolve to strengthen China's

national security.

It will do so by testing new weapons to boost the country's battle readiness.

Park Jong-hong reports.

The Chinese military says it's committed to safeguarding national security and regional

peace and stability.

To this end, it announced that new types of weapons will be tested.

The remark is widely seen to target the THAAD deployment in South Korea.

A spokesman for China's Defense Ministry singled out the U.S. defense system in a regular briefing

on Thursday,... reiterating Beijing's strong opposition to the move.

"China is firmly opposed to the deployment of THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea

as it undermines regional strategic balance and stability.

China will continue to conduct battle-scenario targeted exercises and test new types of weapons

and equipment in these drills."

The latest comment in protest against the missile defense system came on the heels of

a South Korea-U.S. agreement on Thursday.

The two allies agreed to impose "swift punitive measures" against North Korea in the event

of a further provocation.

The THAAD deployment is reportedly moving ahead smoothly and with key components having

arrived on site, preparations are underway in earnest to make it operational.

Experts say the system is currently in a test phase and is yet to go live.
