Hello and Welcome to MoviTHERM advanced thermography solutions

My name is John Cabrer

Today I'd like to invite you to

join me in demonstrating C-Check IR professional

this is our entry-level

solution for non-destructive testing

Before we get to the demonstration I'd

like to introduce you to some of the

components of C-Check IR. There's the

tablet PC which houses the C-Check IR

software for developing recipes and for

conducting measurements.

There's the measurement head and the

optional tripod. The measurement head

consists of an uncooled micro bolometer

which is available in 640x480 or 320x240

resolution vga and quarter vga

and there's the integrated excitation

source which consists of dual 850 watt

halogen bulbs and control electronics in

the back. C-Check IR is great at

detecting voids, delamination, water

inclusion and impact damage. It's a great

tool for checking your repairs and it's

a good alternative to ultrasound systems

providing much quicker results and

faster setup times. Ok so let's just get

right to it we'll set this up on the

tripod. We have a sample coupon here

which is included with every system for

validation testing there's a few samples

in the manual that guide you through

conducting measurements on this sample.

The sample has holes the various

depth ranging from a half a millimeter

all the way to six millimeters.

Let's start the software up

now the mode that I'm coming up in is

the "operator mode". In this mode the

recipes for measurement have already

been set up for me and you can see those

recipes here. There's set 1 set 2 set 3

and set 4 and I can select any of those

and conduct the measurement right now

we're in the live mode where we can see

our part setup you can see how sensitive

the camera it is.

The optics on this camera make it almost

as sensitive as a cooled camera

We'll select test number one

press measure

Now what you saw the system do there is

it briefly heated up the sample and now

the cameras observing the cooling rate

of the sample. Once that's done the

processing takes just a few seconds and

we have our result. Here on the right

side we have our slider which we can use

to dial through the depth of the results

and you can see that we can see 1 2 3 4

5 6 7 and almost 8 and 9 of the circles.

So now I know that we have the

measurement results I'd like to

demonstrate the overlay mode

What this does is, it super imposes the live image

over the last test results that you obtained

so that you can detect your defect

then you can go in with your

silver sharpie mark the area.

We also have a marker for use on the screen.

season and I've done use the new season

you know the currencies and stuff or

whatever's and so I'm gonna have to wait

till all that drama unfolds because

obviously you know shows don't be

getting like that all the reality shows

they don't really get all juicy until I

get really deep in the episode not deep

in the season and the season people

anyway so get your minds out of the

filter guys don't be nasty and okay um I

was saying that you need to just be

really deep in the seasons because once

you're deep in the seasons then that's

when you'll be knowing what's going on

is the what is happening in the drama

unfolding and all of that and people

like turning on you and I'm like the

girls turning on each other you know and

then like when is friends with her the

next day and then the next day the other

ones like friends with the other one

that they were not talking to whatever

you know all that good fun stuff and so

I'm here for today some random guys so

random and so unplanned

um actually have some fun toilets

because it was spontaneous yo so uh yeah

and right now i'm currently like

watching bad your punk rules because i'm

also into that show cuz her knowledge is

so dramatic they're so dramatic and it's

just fun to watch them it's um it's

entertaining you know like reality TV

what can i say i love it one of my

guilty pleasures so yeah guys go ahead

My wife asked me to kind of tone it down tonight but I don't

think I'm going to be able to so expect my intensity.

so, first, I want to thank everybody for being here

It means a lot

to see so many people helping me with my campaign

for Re-election to the School Committee

As I thought through my campaign

I read my speech of about 6 years ago

and I was surprised to see in my speech of six years ago

lot of "wills", a lot of "coulds", a lot of "shoulds"

future terms

and tonight I can tell you

as a member of the School Committee

I did

and what I mean by "I Did"

is that we accomplished two very important goals

One, you stay fiscally responsible and

secondly, we have tremendous student achievement

and I'm going to prove that to you tonight

and as I speak

please understand that if I use the term "I"

it's interchangeable with "we"

because I'm one member for five team School Committee that is very successful

so first, how are we fiscally responsible

we did this by

if you looks at the charts that Lilly and Nora are showing up here

as best you can see it

you can see that we've asked for minimal increases

each year

the high was 4.1%

the low was .7%

so we averaged a 2.7% increase each year

now, if you think about the cost of living

that's a minimal increase

minimal

We have to do the very best for all our students

pre-k through 12

So we took that minimal increase

and using other strategies

made it work for our students how three

How?

three strategies

One

We work with other Town Boards

this year it's the Town Council, our new form of Government

it's a lengthy process

it's a drawn-out process

there's meeting, there's debates

there's discussions, there's arguments

to do what's best for our kids

that's our first strategy

our second, which you might find surprising

is negotiations. 85% of our

school budget is personnel

most school systems are 88%

so we have to negotiate smartly

and by smartly I mean that we balance the employees needs

with the budget needs

So, that's our second strategy, negotiations

Our third, is being creative

Now, there are many examples I can give you

many examples

One that I'll give you, that you can visualize

is that a year ago if you went in front

of Conservation Committee

that's State money, not our tax money

not our budget money

and pleaded with them through three hearings

to build three playgrounds on

elementary school for the town's

children and after a long, long debate

we went to Town Meeting and we got it

that's being creative

using money beyond our budget to fund things that we need

So those are the three strategies

and before I describe to number three, which is creative

want you to know right up front that we

are working very close with the state on

building a new high school I am for a

new high school and that's another topic

for another day but I stand right in

front of you now I want you to know

I'm for a new high school

Now that's how we've been fiscally responsible

Now, how does that work as far as making sure our students achieve?

remember, I said

that we're doing remarkably well with student achievement

The next slide that Lilly and Nora are going to show you

and all you have to see is that

Those are seven different communities in the state

our per pupil cost is 6 out of 8

that's 6 surrounding communities from Longmeadow to Hampden

to West Springfied, etc.

you can see we're spending the least amount

6 out of 8

Now how do we do that how, do we get remarkable student achievement?

Well, we all know about MCAS

we all know about MCAS

that's what we use to measure how well our school system is doing

Now Lilly and Nora will show you the next slide

now remember, we're 6 out of 8 spending-wise

the next slide will show you, for English

with a red bar, we're second out of 8

not 6 out of 8, we're 2nd out of 8 in English

and if you can see it real closely

you can see we're 1 percentage point from being number 1

from being number 1

once again, we're second in math

So somehow we're balancing being fiscally responsible

while our students are achieving that well

This is called a Dart Sheet

what the State does

is they take all the communities in the State

and they link them by kind of community

socially, economically, and ethnicity

and if you look at this thing here

there's Foxborough on there, Ashburn, Wilbraham

some examples

we're first in English, first in Math or fourth in Science

so somehow we're doing extremely well

we're spending much, much less

than the other communities

you're getting a real bang for your buck with this

now, let me explain how the School Committee

does this. I've showed you the three strategies

with fiscal responsibility

what is the School Committee to do to make

sure that we are achieving with our students?

the key word is accountability

three times a year, three times a year

the building principals and the senior leadership

present to the School Committee

the first is in October

with their goals for student achievement

they present that to us

and we question them and we make sure that they are on target

in January they come back to us with data

proving they are reaching those goals

and then in June

there's a final evaluation to show us that they

reached those goals

so that's accountability

that's how we do it

Now let me give you an example of what happened this year

that last chart that you looked at

first in English, first in Math, fourth in Science

what do you think

the School Committee said to the

leadership team?

"you better do something about Science"

keep the English going, keep the math going

but start focusing on Science

What did we do?

we're battling with the town right now to get more

science supplies, textbooks, and equipment

to improve that ranking

So, a year from now, I would hope, that were one in

that we're one in English, one in Math

and one in Science

I showed you the data, I showed you to proof

all I'm asking you to do

is Vote for me on June 6th

to keep that five team School Committee together

I've shown you we're fiscally responsible

and shown we're achieving for all our kids

so once again I thank you

I would appreciate your vote on June 6th
