No matter how little the value,

stealing another person's property is a crime.

Finding and keeping someone's phone

is as much a crime as any other theft,

and the punishment can include extended jail time

and large fines,

even for first time offenders.

This video shows a find-and-keep theft

that occurred March 8th at Dollar Tree

on Timberland Drive in Lufkin.

A customer sat down his phone and forgot it.

A woman behind him in line saw the phone,

hid it in her buggy,

and left the store before the victim returned.

A month later,

the phone hasn't been returned

and Crime Stoppers wants to identify suspect,

recover the phone,

and pay a reward.

If you know the woman in the yellow shirt,

call Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS,

submit a tip at www.639TIPS.com,

or use Crime Stoppers' P3 Tips App

for iOS and Android.

Calls and tips directly to Crime Stoppers

are anonymous

and information that leads to an arrest

might be eligible for a reward.
