Infamous Gangnam Station murderer receives sentence for brutal stabbing of a 23-year-old woman

A man identified only as "Kim" was convicted earlier this week for the murder of a 23-year-old woman in a Gangnam station bathroom. The Seocho-dong public toilet murder often referred to as the Gangnam murder, occurred in May 2016.

The 34-year-old man had waited in public toilet near a Karaoke bar in Gangnam before he stabbed a woman to death.

It was reported that he waited about 50 minutes in the unisex bathroom, while 6 men entered before the young woman entered and lost her life.

It was initially believed to be a hate crime against women, and many notes left at the site stating this happened because he "hated women".

Police have denied that this was the case, however, citing potential mental illness as the reason behind the brutal murder.

He has been ordered to pay 500 million won ($446,000 USD) to the victim's family and has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Since the case first began, public outcry has raised awareness of violence against women, and promoted government officials to take steps to prevent such violence.

My name is Caryl Russo, I'm the Senior Vice President for

Robert Wood Johnson Barnabus Health (RWJBarnabus) Corporate Care.

We are a division of the second largest private employer in the state New Jersey, the largest healthcare provider.

We had an electronic system that was for private practice.

It didn't have the vast amount of functionality that we ultimately did need.

I would say that fundamentally, we used that for our scheduling, for some of our notes.

And the basis, the rest of our business, was paper charts.

Sadly, I can't tell you how many paper charts have been misplaced.

With Agility, and I know I'm jumping into that, that's a nightmare that went away.

Having an electronic solution that enables us to generate and manage the claim, to do

the OSHA log, to generate safety reports, and infection control reports.

And we now, it takes us minutes to run a report, that in the past would have been a day's work for somebody.

Now when you go to the outside business for us, being able to manage that billing piece,

I mean it's crucial and it's the reason why you have a business is to generate income

and to have a strong positive relationship with outside employers.

Being able to generate realistic, real-time, good, strong, solid reports has enabled us

to make far better business decisions.

And I have to tell you, we haven't regretted any of the business decisions we've made

because the data has been so solid.

Agility has given us the ability to manage our denials far more effectively, we can generate

the letters right out the system.

Having Agility is enabled us to understand where all our opportunities are to continue

to grow and expand our market share or address some sort of a competitive threat.

And recover that business sooner so that we'd been able to continue to maintain that market share

Intro to Day w/o Tech for Aurasma - Duration: 2:53.

We live in the digital age and we are inundated with technology.

We have limitless amounts of information and ways to communicate right here in our pockets,

our purses, or our backpacks.

Some of us cannot imagine life without technology.

Others relish the days when it was a little simpler when we could disconnect in an easier

way.

For the next two weeks, we are going to examine the role of technology in our lives.

So, pre-plan for this because it may be more stressful for some of you than others.

The first part of the challenge is to observe technology in your everyday life.

How do you use technology?

From listening to music to talking on the telephone to texting to social media to Googling,

whatever it is that you use technology for I want you to keep a log of that for three

hours in a day.

I want you to note every time you use technology.

Maybe it's your Keurig, maybe it's your smartphone, or maybe it is the way you get up in the morning

with your alarm clock, not your biological clock.

So pick three hours that are going to work for you that you are very active and keep

a log of what technology you use and what technology you observe others using during

that three hours.

The second part is going to take a little more preplanning because some of us are very

dependent on our technology.

You are going to choose five hours, consecutive hours, during a time of day that you are typically

very active, so this cannot be five of your sleeping hours.

It needs to be five hours when you are awake.

After you've chosen those hours you are going to go on a "digital sabbath" which means you

are going to take a break from technology.

Do something else, go hiking, cook, spend time with friends, go traveling, read a book,

or have some quiet time.

Whatever it is that you do during this typically active part of your day, I want you to make

notes about what you do, because the last part of this challenge is to create a blogs

that details your experience.

I've given you some prompts so that you will know what to write about.

Part of the blog will be to upload five pictures that are examples of what your five hours

entailed.

The last part will be a video, very much like this one, or you can just use your regular

mobile device to create your video, that details out the emotions and impact this challenge

had on you.

I wish you the very best in this challenge and I cannot wait to hear how it goes.

He was very approachable and in fact, most of the time

he was following up on me, rather than me following up

on him and saying, you know, what's the next step

and what needs to be done.

So, it was all very simple.

Gave me all the copies I needed to sign, what I needed

to read, so very easy straightforward.

He's just someone who communicates really well

and he's very approachable and so it just makes

things very clear and someone just really

easy to work with.
