The Association was formed in 1992
and this year we are celebrating its 25th anniversary
Throughout the years, we have created several projects
each to fit certain needs as they arise.
Our future aspirations include the creation of a center on the island of Muharraq
which is currently under consideration.
God willing we will be working on it next year.
We have high ambitions
and thanks to God we are seeing our success
through the points of view of the parents of these children
the things they talk about and their happiness
about how their children's situations have improved.
Ms. Khatoon Abdulla Director of the Wafa Center for Autism, and the Developmental Delay Unit
This is the Wafa Centre for Autism, and the Developmental Delay Unit
We take autistic children between 3 and 12 years old
The cases are referred to us by psychiatrists
from the Ministry of Health.
We welcome these cases, record them,
and assess the children for a period of time
between 2 and 3 weeks.
Based on this assessment, we set a program for each child.
This applies to both the Autism Centre
and the Developmental Delay Unit.
Teaching children with autism is expensive.
This is because their education usually requires
a 1-to-1 teacher to student ratio.
As much as we can, we try to provide one-to-one teaching
for the difficult cases.
The mild to medium cases are provided
with 2-to-1 or 3-to-1 tutorship
because we as an association cannot afford the salary
of a teacher for every child.
The Rashad Centre serves children with autism
between the ages of 12 to 19 years.
It provides vocational qualification services
