Ignorant people would call me a radical feminist and I think that's wonderful

because radical means from the heart of things, from the centre of things you know so I, when a lot of people try to think that's an offensive comment I embrace it, it's just great.

People try to trip you up and say are you a feminist and I say of course I am, of course I believe in gender equality

and there's still that stigma and there's still that thing where they think feminism is man hating and immediately women who have voices,

women who are proud to break down the barriers and become engineers and to become boxers and stuff are considered not women anymore and it's really, its really disheartening.

In the notion of wahine toa, you have an idea of a female warrior, we have always been warriors.

Lots of young women think somehow we're not in an iteration that the revolution is over.

Sadly mistaken they will discover, you know, when they first try to ask for a wage increase when they are passed by for partnerships, the first time a male fist is raised to them, when they are walking home in the dark and there are young men and they feel threatened.

Women are 50% of the population, we should have 50% of the MP's, in fact we have only got 30% and it's been like that for the last 20 years. I'm sure Kate Sheppard would be horrified to see where we have come here in the 21st century.

Another thing that hasn't changed is the invisibility of all unpaid and voluntary work and all household work. Overwhelmingly this affects women.

If political leaders are going to exclude women or ignore them they do so at their own peril and they will fail. Women are a powerful voting block.

In my family women are definitely equal, in other families definitely not, as a country I don't think so.

Women need to have the power. Women don't want war, they want peace. Women don't want more children, they want more for the children that they actually have,

and you put women in charge and I tell you we'll have world peace and we'll have happy families and communities.

I love men, I'm married to one, I have a son, I have a dog is a boy even.

I have the most beautiful brothers, I'm one of eleven right, so I was the first daughter that came in after five boys so I got dressed like a boy, anyway.

I have had huge opportunities, I'm Pacific and yes I can fit within that, you know, that sector of society that probably a lot of New Zealander's would perceive as being disadvantaged and so on.

Within my own community I recognise my privilege and I feel huge, I feel huge responsibility to not just look after myself.

A lot of development that we've been doing has been on you know building a woman's confidence

and how does a woman negotiate and where does she step into places where you almost like be more like a bloke and honestly it doesn't work for starters,

but the second thing that we started realising is why are we trying to fix women, why are we trying to do that.

You know from a feminist point of view and I absolutely call myself a feminist I think there's a real opportunity for New Zealand to look at intersectionality within feminism

so we know that not all women experience discrimination or bias to the same extent Maori and Pacific, you know, we are always at the bottom of every metric that you can think of around that discrimination.

I think that's the thing when you start sort of talking about again the "who-ness" of kiwis,

all two hundred plus ethnicities of ourselves part of the reason why we are who we are is because we do actually believe that people should get a fair go and a fair deal

and when we see you know things that aren't fair usually we do step in right. We are that nation that goes yeah, nah, not ok.

So so then I say well, so how do we change that, and that's around women being inclusive and understanding that intersection of race and social class and religious diversity and sexual orientation and all of those things really impact our experience of being a woman in this country.

The conversation that we are having right here, the stories that we are capturing right here are cementing and making sure that we don't lose that whakapapa, the shoulders of those that we stand upon.

And so when you know that, it gives you that sense of belonging to something and it gives you that sense of ok so where is the next that I go to and I would never liken the work that we are doing right now to what Kate Sheppard and her amazing group of supporters both men and women achieved. But in a way we have to ask that question, what is the next.

I think we are fortunate in the younger generation that they seem much more ready to stand up for issues and then they use technology really successfully to galvanise support

so I guess the message is if you're passionate about something, if you really have a burn to make some change somewhere you just need to start.

So I think that can actually be used with some of the lessons that we've still got to teach ourselves as we move forward in trying to get gender parity.

I feel Kate's looking over our shoulders and just going come on girls.

Tight, slim, toned legs that look irresistible in tight jeans or a short skirt are every woman's dream. Follow these simple steps on how to get perfect inner tights.

1, Lie down with your legs straight up. Draw your heels close with the fingertips moved away (feet facing outwards).

Start bending the knees and straighten them, while tensing the muscles. Repeat this exercise in 3 sets of 10, with a 1 minute break between sets.

2, Spread your legs at shoulder width. With your body straight, stretch your hands forward and step aside with the left foot.

Then bend your right leg at the knee and sit on it, while applying your body weight on it. Slowly stand up and transfer your body weight to your left leg. Repeat 10-15 times with both legs.

3, Lie on your back, with the knees bent, and place an elastic ball between your legs. Keep the hands along the body, and raise your bottom and flex your abdominal muscles.

Hold in this position for 30-60 seconds while compressing the ball between the knees. Return to the initial position and make 5 repetitions.

4, Again, lie on your back with your hands on the ground. Lift your feet 30 cm high and cross them 10 times, performing a movement similar to the cutting with scissors.

Do not take a break, and repeat in 3 sets of 10 repetitions.

You should not touch the ground with your legs while performing the exercise.

5, Place your legs on shoulder-width, and place an elastic fitness band about mid-calf.

Then, lift your left foot and move it sideways, in order to defeat the band resistance. Return to the initial position, and make 10 repetitions with each leg.

6, Lie on your left side and use your hand to support your head. Then, bend your right knee on the floor, just in front of your leg.

Then, raise your right leg 30 cm high for 10-15 times and repeat the same with the left leg.
