Changing your gamertag is quite easy to do on Xbox One.
And you can change it for free the first time you do it.
I'll tell you the cost later in the video if you decide to change it a second time.
But for now, I'll show you how to change it for the first time.
Be sure you're logged into your game profile on your console.
Navigate to your profile image at the top and then select My Profile.
When you see your current gamertag, use your controller and select Customize Profile.
Now highlight the box with your current gamertag in it and click A. On the next screen, you'll
see suggestions for a new gamertag much like when you first created your account.
We don't want any of those names.
Instead, highlight the text entry box and tap A. From here you can type whatever new
gamertag name you want.
If the gamertag is available, you'll get a confirmation screen asking if you want to
make the change.
Otherwise you'll have to choose another name.
Click Yes to confirm.
And now click Continue.
And now your gamertag should be changed!
Now go to the right of the screen and select Done and now you have a brand new gamertag!
The Xbox will even send out a message on your feed telling your friends that you changed
your gamertag!
But it's still a good idea to tell your friends in person in case they didn't see the message.
Now if this is the second time changing your gamertag, it's going to cost you $10 USD and
for every other time after this.
An Xbox Gift Card can be used to buy new gamertags but be sure to take into account that there
will be sales tax on the purchase.
So a $10 gift card won't be enough.
