Texans brace for floods in wake of Hurricane Harvey

The most powerful storm to hit Texas in more than 50 years has killed at least one person and is now threatening catastrophic flooding as it lumbers inland and dumps torrential rains.

Hurricane Harvey hit Texas late on Friday as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 209km/h, making it the strongest storm to strike Texas since 1961.

One person died in a house fire in the town of Rockport, 48km north of the city of Corpus Christi, as Harvey roared ashore overnight, Mayor Charles Wax said in a news conference this morning, marking the first confirmed fatality from the storm.

The storm has ripped off roofs, snapped powerlines, and triggered tornadoes and flash floods. It has weakened to a tropical storm, but is expected to lash Texas for days, bringing as much as 102cm of rain.

Texas utility companies said nearly a quarter of a million customers were without power.

At a recreational vehicle sales lot, a dozen vehicles were flipped over and one had been blown into the middle of the street.

A high school, hotel, senior housing complex and other buildings suffered structural damage, according to emergency officials and local media. Some were being used as shelters.

The coastal city of Port Lavaca, farther north on the coast, had no power and some streets were flooded. The streets of Corpus Christi, which has around 320,000 residents, were deserted on Saturday, with billboards twisted and strong winds still blowing.

City authorities asked residents to reduce use of toilets and faucets because power outages left waste water plants unable to treat sewage.

A drill ship broke free of its mooring overnight and rammed into some tugs in the port of Corpus Christi, port executive Sean Strawbridge said. The crews on the tugs were safe, he added.

Harvey weakened to a tropical storm on Saturday, the US. National Hurricane Center said. The centre of the storm was about 241km west-southwest of Houston, moving at about 4km/h, the centre said in a morning update.

Houston residents received automatic mobile phone warnings of flash floods early on Saturday. Authorities warned of the potentially life-threatening impact of close to 60cm of rain falling on the city over several days.

US President Donald Trump, facing the first big natural disaster of his term, signed a disaster proclamation on Friday, local time.

He met with his cabinet and staff on Saturday to discuss the federal reaction to the storm, according to a White House statement.

President Trump emphasised his expectations that all departments and agencies stay fully engaged and positioned to support his number one priority of saving lives, according to the statement.

Several refiners shut down plants ahead of the storm, disrupting supplies and pushing prices higher. Disruptions to fuel supply drove benchmark petrol futures to their highest price in four months.

More than 45 percent of the countrys refining capacity is along the US Gulf Coast, and nearly a fifth of the nations crude is produced offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

10 Tips to Help You Master Google's Gboard for Android - Duration: 4:41.

Hi this is Phil from Make Tech Easier and welcome to ten tips to help you

master Google's Gboard for Android. When it comes to choosing a keyboard to write

with you have quite a few to choose from. Just type the word keyboard into the

Google Play Store search bar and you'll get an extensive list of options. One of

those popular options is Google's Gboard that has 500 million downloads and

counting. You might already have it on your Android device but you may not be

enjoying its full potential. With Gboard you can quickly switch between keyboards,

move the cursor with precision, add a background to the keyboard and more. Add a

number row. To add a number when you first use the keyboard you have to "long

press" on the letter key that has the number you want to use. Adding a number

is easier just by having the number row above the rest of the letter keys. So to

add a number row, long press on the Google symbol followed by the three

vertical dots -> preferences -> number row. Instantly translate text. Gboard also

has the option to add a keyboard in just about any language. Tap on the colorful G

and tap on the translator icon. Choose the languages that you want to translate

and type away. Quickly swipe to erase a word or entire sentence. It can be very

annoying to have to press the backspace button a million times just to delete a

few words. By pressing the backspace for an instant and then swiping left without

letting go you can decide how much of what you've written you want to erase. It

can be a little tricky so don't be surprised if you have to try a few times

until you get the hang of it. How to block or unblock offensive words.

Blocking offensive words is an excellent idea if it's your kids that are going to

be using the keyboard, but adults definitely want the freedom to express

themselves with all kinds of words, offensive or not. To either block or

unblock offensive words tap on the colorful G and on the three dots. Tap on

settings -> text correction and toggle on or off block offensive words.

Google search without leaving the app. Searching for just about anything is

possible just simply by tapping on the G, you'll immediately see the blinking

cursor where you can begin your search. Right above the search bar you can also

see your search history for an even faster search. Switch between different

language keyboards. If you speak more than one language you're probably more

comfortable writing with the keyboard in that specific language. Gboard lets you

use your keyboard in just about any language. Before you can start switching

from one language to the next you'll need to add the language. Tap on the G

and go to settings -> languages choose language. Once you've added all the

languages you need just tap on the world icon to switch from one keyboard to

another. How to access gifts and emojis there are two ways you can set up your

keyboard to access the emojis and gifs. If you're willing to sacrifice the world

icon go to settings and enable the show emoji switch key option. If you need both

options available enable the show emojis in the symbol keyboard option.

Move the cursor with accuracy. Sometimes getting the cursor in the right place

can be a mission impossible. Gboard has a hidden trick for that, where you only

have to slide your finger across the spacebar and let go when the cursor is

where you want it to be. Make sure not to leave your finger on the spacebar, not

even for a millisecond or else it won't work. Stop Google from sharing your

information. To offer a better typing experience Gboard will automatically

share your keyboard usage statistics to Google. If you're not okay with Google

sharing anything regarding your typing you can disable this by going to

settings -> advanced -> toggle off share usage statistics. Quickly add punctuation and

erase suggested words. While the words that Gboard suggests are

useful there are times when you're tired of it always suggesting words you never

use. For such cases you can delete the suggested word so it won't show up again.

Long press on the word and drag it to the trash icon. To add a quick punctuation

long press on the period at the bottom right and wipe to the punctuation you

want to use. Conclusion. Gboard is full of great features that make typing

easier but there's always room for improvement. What do you think that

First came the fervent denials that he and Montana Brown had split , just days after he told her he loved her, then on Sunday night the Geordie hunk was filmed asking photographers outside a nightclub for something to power through.

He was spotted minus his girlfriend but laden down with three huge pieces of luggage when he arrived in Manchester today.

Two of the bags clearly held the stars clothes and accessories, no doubt to ready himself for a string of personal appearances in the city. The third? Put it this way: Alex was very much packing in the pants department.

Perhaps he didnt want to adjust himself in front of the cameras

Alex, 22, could be seen wearing a very tight pair of grey jogging bottoms, paired with a slim-fit black hoody and baseball cap. But he may not have realised quite how eye-poppingly streamlined his bottoms were when he got dressed this morning.

While the whole Love Island cast wandered around wearing next to nothing on the show, there does seem to be something more substantial to Alex when hes in clothes.

Alex was branded boring in the villa - even after hooking up with Montana

The 22-year-old personal trainer has certainly been making up for it since he left the villa

But there was no sign of Montana when Alex arrived in Manchester, which is only going to spark more speculation about the true nature of their relationship.

Even at the Love Island wrap party on Sunday night, Montana ended up leaving Libertine nightclub in London with the previously voted out Simon Searles , instead of with her beau.

Alex left separately, having spent the last few hours defending their relationship to Love Island host Caroline Flack when she was grilling them on the live reunion show.

Neither Alex nor Montana have tweeted about the split rumours since Friday - and as every fan knows, every day can feel like a week to an Islander.

never touch the sap of the cut surface

& always disinfect the cutting tool

by cleaning it with tissue ,

or by deep it in any alcohol

to prevent the graft from any infection

select wrinkled & mature cutting from your selected adenium plant

& take 2 to 3 inch long cutting from it

& then gently insert it in root stock
