That's according to Spanish journalist Sique Rodriguez Gairi, who claims the La Liga giants are planning a fresh offer for the Brazil international.

Coutinho has been earmarked by Ernesto Valverde as one of the men he wants to replace compatriot Neymar with following his move to Paris St-Germain.

However, Liverpool are unwilling to do business with Barcelona and have so far rejected three bids worth £72m, £90m and £118m for him. Barcelona have had more luck negotiating with Borussia Dortmund for another target, Ousmane Dembele, though.

And a deal for the French winger seems more likely to happen in the next few days than one for Coutinho.

Rodriguez Gairi has now offered his insight into Barcelona's pursuit of the two players. And, speaking on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, he's revealed they may stump up more for Coutinho than they are set to for Dembele.

Rodriguez Gairi said: Dembele will cost €105m (£96.8m) and €35m (£32.2m) to €40m (£36.9m) in variables. He will sign for five years. Barcelona will make a new offer for Coutinho.

They have not ruled out paying more than they did for Dembele. Whether Barcelona's potential willingness to hand over a minimum £130m for Coutinho will be enough to convince Liverpool to sell remains to be seen though.

Amped-up VW Golf GTI First Decade goes hybrid for Wörthersee 2017

The Golf R400 hyper hatch may be dead and buried but the apprentices at Wörthersee have other ideas. This beast is the VW Golf GTI First Decade, built for the annual VW event and comes with 404bhp.

The days of the chav-tastic Max Power-like hot hatch are still with us, but the culture of cramming as much power into a small car as possible and painting it a funny colour has (finally) moved into the 21st Century.

So, not only does the First Decade car have 404 mighty horses powering the front wheels, but a 12kW 48-volt electric system powering the rears, too.

The First Decade car can be powered by the engine alone in front-wheel drive, the electric system alone in rear-wheel drive or altogether with all four wheels being driven for maximum attack.

Performance figures aren't known yet, but with stats like that it's sure to be jolly fast.

VW promises that the car can be parked or used 'for short distances in residential areas' in super-silent electric mode only. The electric system also means regenerative braking is possible to charge the batteries.

It also wouldn't be a Wörthersee show car without having some sort of lurid paintjob either, would it? The First Decade car is finished in Atlantic Blue with foil graphics pasted along the side and exterior tweaks include the rear spoiler from the Clubsport model and huge 20-inch mb-Design alloy wheels.

Inside, not a huge amount has changed from the driver's perspective save for some handmade black nappa and Alcantara seats and some tacky blue interior trim.

Well that and the absolutely enormous 1690-watt stereo system that completely replaces the rear seats. What else could a boy racer need?.

Arise Sir Steve Coppell. This match was the great man's first ever game in charge of Palace and it is somewhat poetic that it was again Blackburn, a team that he would later beat to secure his first promotion as a manager.

Ironically, he scored against Sunderland in the League Cup during a defeat for Palace, a game that would see him cup tied and unable to play in the League Cup Final for Sunderland later in the same season.

Id feel sorry for him, but accoring to his Wiki page he later admitted that he deeply regretted choosing to come to Palace instead of heading to Newcastle to play with Kevin Keegan - so screw him.

That's according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague who says the Catalan giants feel obliged to submit another bid after seeing three knocked back.

Liverpool have been adamant that Coutinho will not be leaving this summer and have rejected sizeable offers with the highest worth £118m. The Brazilian has submitted a transfer request to try and force a move to the Nou Camp.

And after he attempted to push the issue Barcelona feel as if they owe it to the player to try again with a deal worth £101.5m up front and another £36.9m in add-ons.

Balague tweeted: "The offer FCB is preparing of €150 (£138.4m) (€110m [£101.5m €40m [£36.9m]) for Coutinho is because they feel morally obliged after his transfer request, but… "FCB pessimistic about Coutinho / [Ousmane] Dembele, looking for others.

"LFC insist they will reject fourth offer (if & when), their stance is 'definitive'. "FCB will offer same amount (€110-40) for Dembele.

"But Dortmund want a bigger fixed sum." Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy is sure Coutinho will leave before the window closes. But it's not all bad news for the Kop and he's also tipped Virgil van Dijk to join from Southampton.

He said: "Southampton are doing what Liverpool are doing with Barcelona. "Thats just the way the world is with football. "Itll happen, I think theyll both happen.".

BBC bosses warn panel shows are tired and old and the Beeb needs to "up its game". The show, starring Ian Hislop and Paul Merton, Mock The Week and QI are all based on the panel show format.

But Pinki Chambers, the entertainment commissioning editor, said: "What we are not looking for is any more panel shows.".

Anything that appeared to be in the "entertainment-panelly-sortof-quiz-sort-of space" would not be commissioned. Instead shows should be more "imaginative" and modern, Ms Chambers told crowds at the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

PANEL SHOWS: Mock The Week is another show that follows the panel format.

The chief added: "In a world where everyone's a satirist, if you've got Twitter and you've got Facebook you're likely to have an opinion and every now and again that might even go viral.

"With that in mind we all just need to up our game a little bit.".
