Wayne Rooney could return for England despite international retirement - Gareth Southgate

Wayne Rooney could return for England, says Gareth Southgate. The Everton star might have called time on his international career but England boss Southgate reckons a rejuvenated Rooney could yet force his way back into his plans for Russia.

For now he'll have to do without England's all-time record goalscorer but the Three Lions boss insisted he wouldn't be too proud to ask the question.

Southgate said: "I think you've got to respect his decision and the thinking behind it. But have I seen players change their minds? Well yes, I think we all have.

"The real questions are hard enough without the hypothetical ones. I suppose that we have to see where he was at, where the squad was at, where everything else was at.

It would be foolish to say no because anything is possible." Southgate named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Malta and Slovakia, with Rooney the big absentee after calling time on his England career after 119 caps and 53 goals.

Gareth Southgate He believes Rooney deserves to go alongside the legends of the English game and revealed there is a move to acknowledge his international contribution, maybe even with a Wembley send-off.

Southgate said: "I think there should definitely be some kind of recognition and whatever that looks like should be for the FA to decide.

"A match at Wembley? It's never been done before and we have obviously had World Cup winners before. "So other people have to make the decision but absolutely we should be recognising his career with England and showing appreciation.

"I know already there is discussion around that and discussion about how we may keep him involved with England." Southgate said the fact that Rooney hadn't won anything with England should not tarnish his legacy.

He added: "I guess people have that debate about Messi, because he has not won a World Cup. We are talking about that level of player.

"I think we are talking about greats within their own country. We cannot compare ourselves to Brazilians or Germans, but Wayne has done pretty much everything else.

"If that hasn't been the case with England, I think that's been more a failing of the team than him as an individual.

"Because he's consistently scored, consistently carried the fight, consistently put himself there, even under the most intense scrutiny and criticism. "There's always a debate.

I think greats across any era would have been greats. Would Wayne have got in the World Cup team in 1966? I don't know.

"But what are the facts? The fact is he is our record goalscorer - more goals than Bobby Charlton, more than Gary Lineker.

"How is Gary viewed? How is John Barnes viewed? In my eyes they are legends of the English game, for many different reasons. And I think Wayne is in that category.".

Tottenham abandon move for wantaway Man City youngster – will Arsenal make a move?

Tottenham have abandoned their interest in signing Manchester City wonderkid Jadon Sancho this month after suggestions he was close to a move.

According to Dan Kilpatrick, the Tottenham correspondent at ESPN FC, Spurs will not be signing 17-year-old Sancho, who recently went on strike at City to try and force a both back to London.

Sancho is free to join another club, but would not be allowed to play for them before the end of his scholarship deal without permission from Man City, who are unwilling to release one of their hottest prospects.

Arsenal have also been strongly interested in Sancho, who is close personal friends with young Gunner, Reiss Nelson, but they will face similar complications should they now decide to move for the troubled teenager.

If City do decide to release Sancho to an English club before the transfer window closes, a fee would be determined by a tribunal and the club could expected £3million-plus.

As it stands though, Sancho faces the prospect of remaining at City despite his best efforts to manufacture a move away.

McGregor Mayweather LIVE countdown: Las Vegas gears up for boxing showdown

CONOR MCGREGOR V FLOYD MAYWEATHER: Latest build-up from Las Vegas. Conor McGregor takes on Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on Saturday night when UFC meets boxing in a one-of-a-kind showdown.

Express Sport brings you the latest from Las Vegas in the build up to Saturdays fight Friday August 25 McGregor on fatherhood 11.25: Conor McGregor has revealed fatherhood has made him even more dangerous.

McGregor took a break from competing in the UFC for the birth of his first child. And Conor Jack McGregor Jr. has given the UFC star a new edge ahead of his Floyd Mayweather bout.

McGregor is the huge underdog for Saturday's Las Vegas clash, but he insists he can knock Mayweather inside the first round and will toy with the 49-0 boxing legend.

"Fatherhood is such an amazing thing, because it made me just realise what's important," McGregor told Eurosport.  "If anything, I feel the pressure is off my shoulders even more so. "It's been beautiful and an eye-opening experience.

As a fighter [I'm] a little more ruthless maybe, a little bit more certain and a little bit more dangerous — if I am being honest — because there is another one I am fighting for..

Bisping on McGregors style 10.50: Michael Bisping thinks Conor McGregor's unorthodox approach will be an advantage against Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather is the huge favourite for Saturday's Las Vegas clash.

And Bisping thinks McGregor could surprise people with his style. "I'm not saying it's a mismatch because Conor is an amazing fighter but Floyd is 49-0 and Conor has never boxed before," he said.

"Conor doesn't move like a boxer though. His unorthodox style might well be his biggest advantage in this fight.".

Calzaghe predicts Mayweather win 09:42: Joe Calzaghe has just been on talkSPORT to talk Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather - and he cant see a shock on the cards.

The boxing legend, who hung up his gloves with a 46-0 record, said: McGregor is the bigger man and believes he can win. I honeslty believe he thinks he can win.

Hell try and land bombs early and hope Mayweather is passed it.

I think itll be interesting for a round or two but Mayweather is one of the best of all times - but I cant see him losing the fight to be honest.   I cant see Mayweather not respecting him.

Mayweather knows hes represeinting boxing and his legacy will be damaged if he loses to a guy who has never boxed.   You dont get to 49-0 by underestimating fighters.

McGregor is strong and has got a big punch so hell be wary for a couple of rounds but Mayweather will take over then.

He retired at the right time but it;s such a big money fight he couldnt refuse this. He will want to be 50-0.

If he lost this fight. well, i cant see this happening. McGregors unpredictability 09.11: Conor McGregor's biggest asset is his unpredictability, according to UFC commentator Dan Hardy.

McGregor faces Floyd Mayweather on Saturday in Las Vegas. And while McGregor is the most famous UFC star in the world he takes on Mayweather in the boxing ring.

"There's always a possibility when you have punching power like Conor McGregor but we don't know how that left-hand will land when he has boxing gloves on," Dan Hardy.

"Floyd Mayweather doesn't think offensively, he thinks defensively and McGregor is the opposite.  "Mayweather is the best the world, so there are going to be traps that McGregor will need to avoid.  "The Irishman needs to use a lot of feigns so he can draw those attacks out of Mayweather before he falls for them.  "It's the element of unpredictability that McGregor brings to the table that intrigues me most.

That's what makes this fight so interesting." Glove issue will be resolved 08.10: Conor McGregor is yet to clarify the gloves he will wear for Saturday's box office showdown with Floyd Mayweather - but both parties expect the issue to be resolved.

The pair meet in Las Vegas at the T Mobile arena in the most eagerly anticipated fight in years. And Mayweather's manager thinks the glove issue will be sorted.

Were confident that everything will go smoothly, Leonard Ellerbe told Sky Sports.  Going to 8oz benefits both fighters because it increases the possibility of a knockout and thats what fans want to see. Both parties will be happy with the gloves, McGregors coach Owen Roddy told Sky Sports.

It will be all good.

Boxing on the line? 05:00: Callum Smith reckons boxing will be in 'trouble' if Floyd Mayweather doesn't beat Conor McGregor. For McGregor, it represents his first professional fight, while Mayweather is looking to sign off with 50 career wins.

And Smith is adamant that Mayweather and the future of boxing is being put on the line. He said: "Everyone is talking about it.

Its putting boxing on everyones lips so its got to be good for the sport but I think Mayweather has to got to win to keep boxing ahead of MMA. "There is a lot riding on this for boxing.

There is a debate about whats the better sport, boxing or MMA, and I think if an MMA fighter beats one of the best boxers ever the boxing is in trouble." James Corden has a laugh with Floyd Mayweather 03:30: James Corden managed to raise a smile from Floyd Mayweather ahead of his bout with Conor McGregor.

Mayweather and McGregor have been exchanging heated words, but Corden managed to lighten the mood. Visiting Mayweather's camp, 'The Late Late Show' presenter poked fun at a member of 'The Money Team'.

He also showered Mayweather, who is expected to earn around £300million from the showdown, with money. McGregor recognises respect 01:00: Conor McGregor was pleased with the level of respect Floyd Mayweather showed him after their subdued press conference.

The two face off in Las Vegas tomorrow night, with Mayweather hoping to cement his status as the worlds greatest with a 50th career win.

And McGregor said: He was respectful to me in there and so he should be and so should everyone else. I am a multiple-time, multiple-weight, free-fighting world champion.

I am a skilled in many areas of combat, a lot more than him, so there should be respect. Thursday August 24 Injury fears 21:00: The Association of Ringside Physicians fear one of the two fighters could sustain a serious injury during the bout.

According to a New York Times report, the group, which has more than 100 members, was surprised the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved the fight: We were very surprised this bout was even sanctioned and was going to be permitted to carry on," said Larry Lovelace, a doctor and the president of the organisation, which is focused on preserving fighter safety.  "The thing I really fear, truly fear, is that somebodys going to get really hurt in this upcoming fight. McGregor in Ibiza 18:00: Conor McGregor says he will party in Ibiza if he stuns Floyd Mayweather this weekend.

"After Saturday, I'm hitting Ibiza," McGregor said. "Two of my friends are getting married. We have a nice big 100ft yacht. We are going to Ibiza to celebrate.

"I am supremely confident here. I'm going to break him and going to do it easily." Mayweathers chin 15:30: Floyd Mayweather tells Conor McGregor about his chin.

McGregor reckons he'll have the American on the floor inside the first round but Mayweather has backed himself to withstand the barrage. One thing about me, Ive got a granite chin," he said.

"Remember this, the same way you give it, you have to take it.

To my family, I thank you, I love you all. Conor McGregor Q&A 14:10: Part two of the Q&A uncovers the UFC stars favourite TV sho and that he likes Guiness over Champagne. Favourite TV show The Simpsons.

Suit or Tracksuit? Suit all day but don't knock a tracksuit. First pet? My sisters little shih tzu.

Guinness or Champagne Guinness. Pool Party or After Party? Both! Back to back, Saturday night we got the after party, Sunday will be the pool party.

First job? Working shops with my dad. Putting boxes of crisps into shops and running around in the van.

Liverpool to win the Premier League or Ireland to win the World Cup? Ireland winning the World Cup! McGregor Q&A 13.20: Conor McGregor has been speaking to betting partner Betsafe ahead of Saturday's fight.

In the first part of the Q&A he reveals his biggest influence and who would play him in a movie. Biggest Achievement In Your Career? A lot! I've had a lot! All of the world titles.

Best Venue Ever Fought At? O2 Dublin. Favourite Punch To Throw? Left paw. Who is the biggest influence in your career? The man in the mirror, me. Ireland or Vegas? Ireland! Tyson or Ali? Ali, all day.

First car? My first car was an Opel Astra, a brand new one. Who would play you in 'Conor McGregor The Movie'? Conor McGregor…double cheques. .

World wide appeal 12.45: Rory McIlroy admits hes intrigued by fellow countryman Conor McGregor ahead of Saturdays fight with Floyd Mayweather. Im intrigued, McIlroy said on Wednesday.

He (McGregor) talks a good game. If you just listened to his press conferences and what he said, you would think he is the guy with the 50-0 boxing record.

Some of the stuff he does wouldnt be my cup of tea, but he believes 100% in himself and believes hes going to go out on Saturday night and shock the world.

Imagine if McGregor knocks him out in the first couple of rounds? Theyd get even more for the rematch and would be even bigger.

I just dont know what that zero on Mayweathers record is worth, and thats his legacy. Has Mayweather got a gambling problem? 11.15: Conor McGregor accused Floyd Mayweather of having a big-time gambling problem as the two faced off ahead of Saturdays fight.

Mayweathers openness regarding gambling is central to his Money Mayweather persona but there remain those within boxing who believe it may lead to an eventual comeback, despite his personal wealth reportedly standing at £266million last year.

McGregor, having been told Mayweather had said he is considering putting the most Ive ever done at the sports book on another victory, calmly responded: He needs to let that gambling go - hes a bit heavy on that gambling.

Hes always talking about doing it and then not doing it. I dont really care. You dont really see many winners in those types of places. I certainly know he has a big-time gambling problem, from seeing him.

He gambles on half-times and things like that. He shows what his wins are, never shows what the losses are.

Maybe thats why hes in the position hes in and he had to take this fight. Im focused on the fight, not gambling..

McGregor will make weight 10.30: Dan Hardy has dismissed Floyd Mayweathers claims that McGregor will struggle to make the 154lb light-middleweight limit.  The rumour is that he is six to eight pounds over and that is nothing for an MMA fighter," he said.

"There is an art form to this, being the bigger man in there is an advantage, especially in MMA with the wrestling.  "Conor will have a perfect plan to get down to weight, he won't miss weight. Belt on the line 1000: WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed a new commemorative belt will be awarded to the winner of the fight on Saturday night.

I am proud to be here at the MGM Grand, the mecca of boxing, this is an event that has captured the attention of the world, two different sports meet in the ring, he said.

Boxing will be in the eyes of millions around the world and for this fight the WBC has created the Money belt for the winner. No revolution for McGregor 09.20: Conor McGregor insists he will not try anything stupid and will stick to boxing - in an attempt to beat Floyd Mayweather at his own game.

I've taken this very seriously, taken the rules very seriously and I will go out and perform," he said. I will not look to implement anything, I will beat this man at his own game, I am a different level to him.

When it's all said and done I will be sad, you should have all kept your mouth shut, you should have left me where I was, he is not even a quarter of the man I am. McGregor eyes new sport 0900: Conor McGregor says he could start his own sport after conquering UFC and with boxing on his agenda.

I was thinking once i have conquered the octagon and the boxing ring i might create my own hybrid of the two sports," he said.

Once I win this I will relish in victory, and then I will think who is next. Still very young in my career. I have been continually climbing up the ranks, its about levels. The sky is most certainly the limit..

McGregor sees a broken man 08.45: When asked what he saw when he looked into Mayweathers eyes at the end, he replied: I just saw him broken if Im being honest.  "They should have left me where I was.

I was good on my game. They shouldnt have brought this animal over here.  "They have made a grave error and all I can do is capitalise on that.

The coverage for this contest and the spotlight that has been put on combat sport has been absolutely inspiring for young fighters in combat sport.  "The sky is the limit for combat sports now and Im delighted to be part of it.  .

McGregor Mayweather press conference recap 08.30: Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather faced off in Las Vegas last night ahead of Saturday's blockbuster showdown.

The two spoke at length ahead of the fight and Express Sport will bring you up to speed. McGregor has vowed to break Mayweather on Saturday night.

Floyd, you need to carry yourself with class or the pay checks will stop coming," he said.  Well, we are here now and this is more subdued, the way I like it, sometimes.

I am very happy with how camp has gone, everything has been absolute amazing and I thank my team.  We are prepared for twelve three minute rounds of non-stop pace, I will come forward and put the pressure on and break this old man. But Mayweather says it's all about him and his performance and vows not to give up his 49-0 record.

It comes down to me and the guy Im competing against," he said. I had a tremendous training camp. We had different guys, giving me different looks. To be in the sport 21 years, I had to take it extremely serious.

Im taking it extremely serious, I know one thing that I can do - I can fight! I can give it and I can take it.

To be 49-0 Im not receiving it, Im giving it.  Hes a hell of  fighter, a stand-up guy, a tough competitor. Its going to be blood, sweat and tears.  After 21 years, Ive been hit with everything and Im still here..

Grieving Mom Asks For Sign When She Visits Son's Grave.

What Happens Next Had Me In Tears..

A mum was reduced to tears when she asked for a 'sign' from her little boy on the

anniversary of his death – and got one later that day at his grave.

Marie Robinson, 45, from Waterlooville, lost her son Jack on April 1, 2014.

Jack had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in January of the same year.

He died at the age of four, leaving behind his identical twin brother, Liam, and his

three older sisters.

Marie had been finding last week difficult, knowing the third anniversary of his death

was approaching.

On Saturday, three years on from losing him, she asked for a 'sign'.

Marie told Mirror Online: "Early Saturday morning I got in the car and said out loud,

'Jack, please show Mummy a sign' and thought I'll see him after I finished work.

"At 1pm I left work and walked up to his resting place.

I was overcome with emotion and I sat on the grass next to Jack.

"With that a little robin kept flying around me trying to land on me, eventually landing

on my foot – he didn't seem scared at all.

"He went and sat on a nearby headstone so I got my phone out to film him being close

to me and he flew over and landed on my hand.

"He kept looking at me directly in my face and at one point he landed on my shoulder

and nibbled me a couple of times."

She shared the video on Facebook, saying: "Can't believe what's just happened,

come (sic) to see my precious boy Jack – just sat down on ground next to him and this happened.

"Yes it brought me to tears.

Taking it as a sign from Jack."

Robins are often seen in the spiritual community as a symbol that loved ones are still there.

The Spiritual Centre website explains: "This bird is a visitor and as such should be appreciated

as a welcome visitor bringing gifts, it is for you to interpret the gifts it brings.

"Someone recently passed may be showing you that you are being watched, maybe just

letting you know that they still love you."

Read about how this family honored their precious young son after his death on the Mirror.

Kpop movies 2017: First loves and a high school do-over for JTBC web drama Somehow 18 - Duration: 3:58.

First loves and a high school do-over for JTBC web drama Somehow 18.

I find it hilarious how a frumpy 'do and glasses equates to social outcast in dramaland. Upcoming web drama Somehow 18 teases a sweet, nostalgic first love story tinged with tragedy and a time-slip element.

The rom-com's premise sounds vaguely like Manhole, but with a lot less of the zany immaturity and more of a melo slant.

Shinee's Min-ho (Hwarang) will headline as an attractive, chic medical resident who was a bullied loner during his high school days.

He somehow finds a way to go back in time, and chooses to relive the worst period of his life in order to save his first love.

This first love will be played by Lee Yubi (Scholar Who Walks the Night), whose innocent outer appearance belies a quirky, direct personality.

Her character is described as the hero's savior when he was an outcast high-schooler, and she also holds many secrets.

In the latest teaser, a melancholic older Min-ho pictures his high school first love as he remembers her, and then we see them together acting all coupley and cute after Min-ho goes back in time.

I know this is the hero post-time travel because his hair is sleek and neat, and he isn't wearing glasses.

He teases that they must be girlfriend and boyfriend if she agrees that he's "bought" her affection, though she counters that he's getting too far ahead of himself.

She narrates that he's starting to look attractive and that she predicts she'll keep thinking about him. Things take a more serious turn when a bus ominously loses control on the road as our heroine's narration continues, "Suddenly, I got scared. That this happiness will disappear, like bubbles."

The teaser ends with Lee Yubi smiling in happier days and the words "Today, my first love… died." You go save her Min-ho!. I am all about the high school romances these days thanks to School 2017, so Ill be checking this out.

Although I'm not necessarily a fan of the whole tragic first love trope, it sounds like it will give an urgency to the hero's time travel that will have us rooting for him to save the heroine and also overcome his own trauma.

I find the lead actors likable, and both the teaser and the poster suggests that they'll have good chemistry, which is super important in a romance.

I love the dreamy lighting in the poster as well, with the words, "And that is how we… met again," hovering between the two classmates.

Somehow 18 will begin its run on Naver TV starting August 28, and will be releasing episodes daily from Monday through Friday.
