Arsenal's £45million move for Thomas Lemar is a statement of intent rather than insurance for Alexis Sanchez

ARSENE WENGERS pursuit of Thomas Lemar shouldn't worry Arsenal fans – he's NOT a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners have bid multiple times for the young Frenchman, a move seen by many supporters as an attempt to replace Sanchez before he is sold. Arsenal are closing in on a stunning £45m deal for Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

And fans can of course be forgiven for thinking that way, as in years gone by they have seen the North London outfit sell a number of their best players to both domestic rivals and abroad.

But in this instance, Arsenal's £45million pursuit of France international Lemar is by no means an insurance policy for the sale of Sanchez. It is more a statement of intent, with a hint of future planning.

Comparisons have been drawn between Chile's record goalscorer and the Monaco star. Both are quick, nimble, play on the left side and have the ability to dribble well with the ball.

But Arsenal are aiming to sign the 21-year-old from Guadeloupe for much more than his prowess on the left, as he is seen as a versatile option across the midfield, and a potential heir to Santi Cazorla's throne in the centre.

Alexis Sanchez has been linked with an Arsenal exit this summer.

Arsene Wenger is confident Alexis Sanchez will stay put at Arsenal.

It is, however, fair to say that there is an element of future planning with this move, as the Gunners go into the season with neither Mesut Ozil nor Sanchez tied into new deals.

The club has made it crystal clear that both will stay put for the upcoming season, and remain confident they WILL eventually sign new deals. Thomas Lemar scored 14 goals and made as many assists for Monaco last term.

Thomas Lemar is versatile and could succeed Santi Cazorla in Arsenals midfield.   All the information Arsenal fans need to know about target Thomas Lemar.

But they also know there is a chance that one of the two may not put pen to paper, leaving them free to agree moves away from England in the new year.

So by moving for Lemar now, it enables Arsenal to capture the player at a price which will be significantly lower than what he will cost in 12 months, if indeed he continues on his current trajectory.

Lemar scored 14 goals and made as many assists in all competitions last term. As for the move itself – there is a feeling that Arsenal missed an opportunity to get the deal done quickly back in June.

Chile star Alexis Sanchez has been given extra time to recover before returning to Arsenal for pre-season following his involvement in the Confederations Cup.

Arsenal would do well to sign France international Thomas Lemar now before his stock rises in 12 months. The player held talks and was keen to come, but Arsenal's bid was not seen as enough for the talented winger.

Since then Monaco have sold a further two first-team players - Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy - meaning the chances of Lemar moving from the French outfit have reduced.

However, Arsenal still remain confident that the player wants to come, and a deal will be done before the close of the window.

The Type 001A aircraft carrier is a Chinese aircraft carrier that was launched in April

for the PLA.

It is the country's second aircraft carrier after the completion of Liaoning, and the

first that was built domestically.

fully installed and its sky weapons.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army is in a period of extended change.

South Sudan, Lebanon and Mali.

With China's foreign policy of peace and national defense policy, The PLA has contributed

enormously to the maintenance of world peace.

GETTY Carl Frampton is only chasing "the big dogs". Frampton's trainer is wary of how his charge will react to his first defeat as he goes up against Mexican Andres Gutierrez on Saturday night in Belfast.

The former two-weight world champion lost his WBA featherweight in a close clash with Leo Santa Cruz in Las Vegas in January.

But should he overcome Gutierrez then McGuigan believes it will be only huge fights as he enters the final stage of his career.

"With belts being thrown around left right and centre these days, he's achieved and he wants the big names rather than the belts," said McGuigan.

"He wants to be mixing it with the big dogs, whether that's Lee Selby, Santa Cruz or whoever.

"We want to match him with big names that sell out in two or three minute and we want to take him back to America.

Carl Framptons trainer Shane McGuigan "We need to make sure if he's got four or five fights left in him that they're good fights. "There's no point being in this game if you're going to keep going through the motions.

The day that he feels he isn't the best fighter in the world is the day I'm going to tell him to pack it in.

"But he does feel that he's the best fighter in the featherweight division and it was definitely a bit of a knock of his ego, coming off the back of a loss and we were so confident going into that fight.

"We'll come again and we feel Saturday night is the next chapter in his career and one that I'm excited about because we can see finish line.

"It's like running a marathon and you can see that 20-mile mark and you've got around six miles to go and your legs are heavy, but we're going to crack on through, get some big fights and finish strong." Frampton is planning five fights before he quits the sport and wants to become a four-time world champion as well as winning a title at super-featherweight.

He also wants to get revenge against Santa Cruz in a third fight with a domestic duel with IBF champion Lee Selby also in his sights. But first he has to come through this test on Saturday night against Gutierrez.

"This is a fight that's necessary from an emotional stand point, coming off a loss he needs to get his mojo back, win and look impressive doing so," said McGuigan."He has to prove it to himself that he's still who he was.

"It's hard to know how Carl is going to react to a defeat.

It's one thing doing it in the gym, it's another thing doing it out on the main stage "But I think we've only had one or two off nights when it comes to Frampton, which is probably the Robbie Turley fight and it wasn't a massive off night for the second Santa Cruz fight but he was maybe 80 per cent.".

If anyone knows a thing or two about fandom, it's Robert Pattinson.

The now 31-year-old actor was hounded by fans, paparazzi and the press during his days starring as vampire Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" franchise from 2008 to 2012 ― mostly due to his real-life romance with co-star Kristen Stewart.

And let's just say he hasn't, nor will he ever, forget it. . When discussing his relationship with singer FKA Twigs (Tahliah Debrett Barnett) on the Howard Stern Show Tuesday, Pattinson called out Twihards for invading his privacy and personal life.

"For whatever reason with 'Twilight,' I don't know whether it is the specific thing with the audience, but there's like a crack troop of crazies who think every single decision you're making is creating some kind of conspiracy," he said.

"So to protect [your relationship], you kind of think, 'I want to create a big boundary between it.' But then it makes it difficult for your actual relationship.".

Pattinson dealt with the "crazies" when he was in a relationship with Stewart, specifically when she was photographed kissing her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders, while dating the actor.

At the time, the photos were spread across tabloids and on websites. The attention surrounding the scandal proved to be too much for both Pattinson and Stewart, who eventually split for good in 2013. (Stewart is now dating model Stella Maxwell.).

"It's one of the most frustrating things in the world because you want to be able to do that," Pattinson said of flaunting their relationship. "You have to make the decision whether you want to let the kind of crazy people in." .

Still, Pattinson did confirm that, yes, he's ("kind of") engaged to FKA Twigs and he's thrilled about it. "Yeah, she's amazing," the "Good Time" star gushed. "She's super talented and it's kind of a totally different world [to dating an actress]." .
