Waching daily Jun 7 2017

Good morning. Welcome to Allen's Logic.

I'm your host, Fred Allen.

Now let's get started.

Last night, the President's son Eric said...

the Russian investigation is baseless.

REALLY!?

Let's talk about what is baseless.

When the president accuses former President Obama...

of tapping his phone with no evidence...

that is baseless.

When the President insists...

that 3 million people voted illegally...

with no evidence...

that is baseless.

But, when the FBI...

the CIA...

the NSA...

and the DHS...

ALL agree...

that Russia did try to hack our election...

THAT is REAL!

That is SERIOUS!

The President's son is clueless.

I say that is sad.

Is intelligent design merely religion masquerading as science? - Duration: 2:09.

Ankerberg: Okay, and the big one is that people say, hey, intelligent design is religion masquerading

as science.

Meyer: Right, or "creationists in cheap tuxedos" it's sometimes called.

Ankerberg: That's right.

Meyer: And that one really hurts my feelings, because, you know, I paid a lot of money for

my tuxedo.

And I think this idea that intelligent design is a religion, not science, confuses the basis

of the theory of intelligent design with the possible implications of the theory.

And the basis of the theory of intelligent design is the scientific evidence that we've

been looking at, the sudden appearance of the major groups of animals in the fossil

record, the evidence of digital information stored in the DNA molecule, and many other

classes of evidence that I talk about in my books.

So the basis of the theory is evidential.

It's the evidence of the natural world.

And also the use of a standard method of scientific reasoning, the very method that Darwin used.

So the theory is based on a standard method of scientific reasoning, and based on empirical

evidence from the natural world, therefore it has a scientific basis.

It may have larger worldview or philosophical or religious implications, but then again

so does Darwinism.

Darwinism has larger implications that support a materialistic worldview as many supporters

of Darwinism have noted.

The theory of intelligent design may also have larger worldview or philosophical or

even religious implications.

If we see evidence of a designing intelligence in the history of life, that's consistent

with what the theistic religions have said.

They have affirmed that there is a designing agent that's responsible for creating the

life forms we see around us, and they affirm that that agent is God.

And so while the theory of intelligent design does not prove the existence of God, it affirms

a tenet of the theistic religions which say, yes, there was a designing mind; that mind

is God.

And so you can say that the theory of intelligent design has implications that are theistic-friendly,

that affirm a key idea that is affirmed by Jews and Christians and other people who believe

in God.

So that doesn't mean the theory is based on religion, but rather it has implications

that are friendly to religious belief.

How Benefit Cosmetics Makes Their Matte Hoola Bronzer | How Stuff Is Made | Refinery29 - Duration: 3:20.

What do you get when you mix Hoola and a kiss from the sun?

A bronzer so popular, it's second to none.

Since its inception in 2001, Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder

has quickly become a cult classic.

The amazing formula that instantly gives faces a healthy, natural-looking tan all year-round

is loved by the Kardashians, Kate Upton, Julianne Hough, and Ashley Graham.

So if you're going for that

Just-Left-Aruba-My-Glo-Up-All-Summer17 look,

Hoola is the way to glow.

The first step in creating Hoola Matte Bronzer is mixing the pigment.

White, brown, red, purple, and yellow pigments

are blended together to make the perfect bronze

for a sun-kissed glow.

A liquid binder is added to the blend to solidify powder and make it crumble-resistant.

Then, the powder is triple blended through a mill.

The mill acts like a coffee grinder and breaks down all of the powder into a fine texture.

It's a bit like a blizzard, a blizzard of bronzer.

Once the blend is ready, it is taken to the powder press station.

Now, let's get in formation.

Loose powder is dosed into a small pan.

It is covered with a clean sheet of ribbon and held into place with a heavy metal plate.

The square is inserted into a powder press machine and pressed into place.

Once completed, out comes a perfect bronze square, ready for packaging.

On a larger scale, the same process is followed.

This machine actually makes 1,200 bronze boxes per hour.

That's 20 Hoola boxes per minute.

That's an epic amount of summer glow.

What's an iconic bronzer without an iconic box?

A machine presses Hoola stickers to the bottom of boxes and one by one, they are loaded

onto an assembly line.

The boxes are then flipped and a tiny dab of glue is put inside.

Then the palettes are put inside the boxes and pressed one last time for security.

A protective plastic casing and a soft natural bristle chief brush are packed on top.

In 2016, one Hoola was sold every 10 seconds.

That makes Hoola the Number One Best-Selling Prestige Bronzer in the U.S.

And voilá!

A perfect box of bronze goodness on it's way to perform major glo-ups for glam-lovers

all year-round.

Thanks so much for watching!

What is Philosophy? - Duration: 3:21.

Philosophy is a discipline that challenges pupils to grapple with the big questions in life.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is the perfect place to tackle these tough questions.

Let's dive in and see if we can learn a little more about the program.

I just don't think that's what constitutes being alive.

Well, it may not be life in the biological sense, but being alive is just

so much more than just biological function.

Ah yes, just as I predicted.

The meaning of life: one of philosophy's most prominent pursuits--

Actually, this is Minds and Machines.

So we're trying to figure out if artificial intelligence can think in the same way humans

do.

And whether or not that means that robots are alive.

Well... that's not entirely what I had anticipated but I'm sure you have other classes where

you do explore the deeper questions of the cosmos, don't you?

I mean...yeah.

Look, if you've got more questions about our curriculum I know who you should talk to.

I've just been in one of your philosophy classes and found your students discussing robots.

Is philosophy all about robots these days?

Well, the cool thing about philosophy is it's kind of about everything.

Go on.

Philosophy asks fundamental questions about the nature of reality, about what is true,

about how we ought to live our lives, and it provides a set of skills for thinking through

them clearly – refining those questions and pursuing their answers in systematic ways.

It's less about passing along a particular subject matter and more about careful reasoning

to well-grounded conclusions.

Now THAT sounds like philosophy.

Why didn't I hear anything like that in their classes?

You probably did.

It just doesn't always come off sounding like Aristotle or the existentialists.

But the skills students pick up in our classes can be applied to any topic -- even robots.

So, what does this curriculum prepare your students for after they graduate?

They do really well in just about everything they do.

They consistently score the highest on post-graduate exams like the GRE and MCAT, and their flexible

and critical thinking skills are highly sought after by employers in a number of fields.

In fact, I know a graduate who'd love to tell you about how our program prepared her

for her job.

You should talk to her.

Here we are, with a former philosophy student that uses her degree every day in the workplace.

So Amanda, what did you do with your philosophy degree?

Well, I'm actually the Director of The Magic City Acceptance Center.

Which is a safe, supportive, and affirming space for LGBTQ youth, children, and adults

in the Birmingham area.

But we provide so much more than just support.

We provide art programs, movie nights, drop in hours, support groups, and a Queer Prom

each summer to over a hundred youth.

Well, that's not what I was expecting.

How did you get here from Philosophy?

Philosophy is amazing.

It teaches you so much more than you would ever expected and so many skills that I use here

on a daily basis.

Things like thinking critically, how to make diplomatic arguments, and so much more.

I really don't think I'd be as successful if I had gone into anything

but philosophy.

That's fortunate that you were able to find such a unique way to use your degree, but

is there really a marketplace for philosophy majors?

Absolutely!

So many of my friends are in law school, med school, philosophy can be applied to so many

different fields.

Well, there you have it.

It's clear to me now that the students who choose to be Philosophy majors have endless

opportunities to become engaged thinkers in whatever field they choose.

Especially those at UAB.

NEW 5G WIFI COMING AND IT WILL KILL US ALL THIS IS SERIOUS! - tech and science - Duration: 4:35.

NEW 5G WIFI COMING AND IT WILL KILL US ALL.

THIS IS SERIOUS!

First, there was 3G, then 4G and now we are heading into the era of 5G, while this is

said to be an improvement it is also bringing with it harmful ultra-high microwave frequency

radiation.

People who have raised their voices about the dangers that the technology will bring

and who have talked about safety have been subjected to intimidation and harassment along

with attempts to try to silence them.

SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH 5G, INCLUDING RISK OF CANCER

The FCC voted on July 14 to bring 5G to the US to make spectrum bands above 24 GHz available

for the 5G technology, despite the fact that with the proliferation of technology for cell

phones there are serious health risks.

It looks like the FCC has the attitude of going full speed ahead and not giving a thought

to the torpedoes.

June 20 saw the chairman of the FCC, Tom Wheeler, praising the rollout of 5G applications along

with networks and he called them a game changer, along with national priority and went on to

say that it would bring in tens of billions of dollars.

5G USES FREQUENCIES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED

The 5G network is going to use frequency bands that are higher and which had not been thought

possible, frequencies of 24 to 100GHz, which have not been tested.

Of course, the new and untested frequencies are going to need new antennas and these are

aimed to amplify signals and it means huge deployment of cells phone towers all over

the US.

The first to begin 5G trials in the US will be Verizon and ATT and these are set to start

this year, 2017, with the first deployment commercially to start in 2020.

Wheeler said that all regions, including those in rural communities, will be saturated with

5G.

This means that no part of the country is going to remain safe from the ultra-high frequency

signals.

REPORTER WAS SILENCED OVER WORRIES ABOUT HEALTH At a press conference on July 14, Todd Shields

a reporter for Bloomberg News had his press credentials taken from him by the FCC security

force simply because he was speaking with safety advocates about radiation and he was

concerned.

He had confronted Wheeler during the conference and told him that his credentials had been

taken and while Wheeler said that he could have them back, he did go on to tell Shields

that everyone at the conference had to behave responsibly.

This meant that he had to follow orders otherwise he was out.

Bear in mind that in the past the government has tested and then said that many things

were safe and would not hurt the public.

These have included thalidomide, asbestos, lead paint and smoking, all of these have

now been said to be otherwise and far from safe.

STUDY REVEALED WIRELESS RADIATION CAN CAUSE CANCER The National Toxicology Program conducted

a government study to the cost of $25 million and it concluded that wireless radiation can

cause cancer.

70% of the non-industry studies have revealed that wireless radiation is harmful, but with

industry studies, this percentage is only 32%.

However this is looked at there is no getting away from the fact that the dangers are being

ignored by the government.

Even Verizon and T-Mobile annual financial reports have revealed that the phone companies

acknowledge that they are subject to litigation in relation to alleged health effects or radio

frequency transmitters and wireless phones.

They have warned that it may result in damages that are significant and they have admitted

that wireless technology along with health effects that are adverse do actually exist,

and this is said to include cancer being a threat.

Nokia is a defendant in a total of 19 different lawsuits that were filed in Washington D.C.

Which have alleged that radio emissions coming from cell phones have been the cause of brain

tumors.

One really has to ask whether the health of people in the US and the rest of the world

should be risked solely to advance in mobile technology that ensures that people can get

a good cell phone signal wherever they are.

What is a Disney Weenie? - Duration: 4:57.

If you're a fan of the Disney theme parks, you may have come across the term "weenie" before.

If you're not a fan of the Disney theme parks this video has probably already gotten

a little weird for you.

So what is a Disney Weenie and where did it come from?

Walt Disney was obsessed with the design and construction of Disneyland.

That's just the kind of person he was.

While other heads of companies might just sign-off on big projects and let others worry

about the details, Walt gave them the attention that a passion project truly deserved.

As a result, he spent most of his days and nights not only overseeing his company, but

also planning and overseeing Disneyland as well.

So it wasn't at all uncommon for Walt to get home late during those early years.

As the story goes, according to Disney historian Jim Korkis, on nights when he got home late,

Walt would often enter his house through the kitchen since it was closer to the garage.

There, he would grab an uncooked hot dog to give as a treat to their family poodle, Lady.

He noticed that as long as he had the hot dog, Lady would follow him anywhere just to

get to that treat.

Later, when designing Disneyland he realized that the park similarly needed ways to coax

visitors not only into the park, but into different parts of the park.

I guess he knew that uncooked hot dogs weren't going to do the trick, but in any case he

decided to honor his dog Lady and so the structures that would win the attention of guests were

called weenies.

They're also sometimes referred to as visual magnets.

The castles at all of the Disney parks around the world?

They're the quintessential Disney weenies.

However beyond being the element that would pull guests in from Main Street, Sleeping

Beauty's Castle was intended to be the weenie that would draw guests back out of each of

the lands at the park.

You see, when Disneyland opened in 1955, almost none of the lands were connected to one another.

They were essentially dead ends, so guests who wanted to go from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland

had to walk back out to the hub first to get there.

With that design, the castle would be a visual anchor with which guests would be able to

get their bearings and return to the hub whenever they needed to.

The castle wasn't the only Disneyland weenie though.

Virtually all of the lands were designed to have their own distinct weenies to draw guests in.

Over in Tomorrowland there was not only the World Clock at the entrance of the land, but

also a TWA Moonliner Rocket at the back.

Peering into Frontierland, guests would see the docked Mark Twain Riverboat, welcoming

guests into the past.

Fantasyland had the castle of course, and even Main Street USA had it's own in the

form of the Disneyland Railroad station, which acted as a weenie for guests leaving the park.

The only land that didn't have it's own weenie was Adventureland and that was, like

most things at Disneyland, intentional.

The logic behind the decision was that Adventureland was meant to be mysterious and exciting, and

that getting a clear view of what was in store for the land would defeat the purpose of the

land altogether.

This same thought process would be used again decades later in planning the entrance area

of Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, with the Tree of Life being hidden behind numerous

winding pathways and foliage.

Beyond just being a visual magnet intended to draw guests in, weenies were also tools

to establish the visual language of the area.

When you look at Big Thunder Mountain, it tells you everything you need to know about

that land's theme, and it's only as you approach the attraction would a newcomer to

the parks even realize it is an attraction.

They help establish the aesthetic language that the area is going to use to transport

the guest to another world, and creatively hides details so that only exploration would allow

them to see everything.

Speaking of hiding, another important element to designing a Disney weenie is knowing where

to place it so that it doesn't interrupt the sight-lines from other areas of the park.

When you're in Tomorrowland, it's important that you can't see Big Thunder because that

just wouldn't make much sense.

You're in Tomorrowland!

Unless of course you can design a Disney weenie to have two different themes from two different

angles.

With a little bit of care and planning, what can look like a creepy Hollywood Hotel from

one perspective, is just another building in the Moroccan skyline from another.

Of course, if care isn't taken to sight-lines and design, as was the case when Michael Eisner

was placing the, at the time, new Swan and Dolphin resorts, you end up with a visual

inconsistency that breaks the theme.

Expedition Everest.

Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Spaceship Earth.

The Tower of Terror.

Yeah, they may have a silly name, but weenies are an important aspect of Disney history

that have guided the design of Disney parks and attractions for decades.

Donald Trump's FBI Nominee Christopher Wray: Who He Is & Bridgegate Work | Morning Joe | MSNBC - Duration: 4:22.

>> I THINK I ANSWERED THAT QUESTION.

>> WE'LL COME BACK TO THIS. WE GOT ON THE PHONE KEITH

WILLIAMS, OUR JUSTICE CORRESPONDENCE HERE TALKING MORE

OF THE PRESIDENT'S NOMINEE ANNOUNCED ON TWITTER BY THE

PRESIDENT HIMSELF, HIS NAME IS CHRISTOPHER WRAY, WHAT CAN YOU

TELL ABOUT HIM? >> HE WAS THE YOUNGER PEOPLE.

HE'S 50-YEAR-OLD AND HE HAS PROSECUTE TUTORIAL EXPERIENCE

DURING THE GEORGE W. BUSH ADMINISTRATION FROM 2003 TO

2005. HE WAS IN CHARGE OF THE CRIMINAL

DIVISION AND THAT'S OF COURSE, BASICALLY WHAT THE FBI DOES.

HE'S BEEN SENT TO PRIVATE PRACTICE IN ATLANTA.

HE JOINS THE U.S. ATTORNEY OFFICE THERE AT ONE POINT IN HIS

CAREER AND THEN CAME TO WASHINGTON TO THE JUSTICE

DEPARTMENT AND A NUMBER OF SENIOR CAPACITIES.

NOW, HE'S BACK AT THE LAW FIRM OF KING & SPALDING.

2015, HE WAS AMONG THE FORMER JUSTICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL WHO

COMEY SIGNED A LETTER IN SUPPORT OF THE NOMINATION OF SALLEY

YATES. THAT WAS DURING THE OBAMA

ADMINISTRATION. HE'S SOMEBODY THAT'LL COME TO

THE JOB WITH EXPERIENCE AT THE WASHINGTON LEVEL IN THE JUSTICE

DEPARTMENT AND DOWN AT THE STREET LEVEL AS A U.S. ATTORNEY

IN ATLANTA. >> KEITH, WHAT'S THE REACTION OF

JUSTICE CIRCLE TO THIS CHOICE, DO YOU THINK IT IS A GOOD ONE?

>> IT IS A LITTLE EARLY TO GAUGE OF THE ACTION.

HAVING TALKED TO PEOPLE AT JUSTICE AND THE FBI BEFORE THE

PRESIDENT MADE HIS CHOICE. NO, THEY WERE LOOKING FOR

SOMEBODY WHO HAD EXPERIENCE AND KNEW WHAT THE FBI DOES.

THEY WANTED SOMEBODY HAVING THAT EXPERIENCE AND SOMEBODY KNEW HOW

WASHINGTON WORKS WHILE THEY HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF RESPECT FOR SOME

OF THE PRESIDENT'S POSSIBLE NOMINEES, INCLUDING JOE

LIEBERMANN, THEY HOPE THAT WOULD NOT BE THE CASE SIMPLY BECAUSE

LIEBERMANN NEVER HAD ANY CRIMINAL JUSTICE EXPERIENCE AT

ALL. HE WAS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

CONNECTICUT. THAT POSITION IS STRICTLY CIVIL.

THEY WANTED SOMEBODY WHO KNEW WHAT THEY WERE ABOUT.

>> TWO QUESTIONS, HOW RELIEVED ARE THEY THAT POLITICIANS

ARE -- JOHN CORNYN AND TWO FROM YOUR REPORTING, HOW DIFFICULT

WAS THIS POSITION TO FILL, JAMES COMEY WAS FIRED BY THE

PRESIDENT, WE HAVE SEEN REPORTING THAT HE'S HAVING

TROUBLE FILLING OUT KEY POSTS AND FBI DIRECTOR WAS ONE OF

THOSE THAT HE HAD TROUBLE FILLING OUT.

>> HE'S NOT THE FIRST ONE THAT HAD TROUBLE FILLING OUT THE FBI

POSITION. JAMES COMEY HAD TO BE PERSUADED

REPEATEDLY TO TAKE THE JOB. WHEN BOB MUELLER'S TEN YEARS

FIRST RAN OUT, THAT'S WHEN THEY APPROACHED JAMES COMEY TO TAKE

ANY DECLINE. AFTER THE EXTENDED BOB MUELLER'S

TERM THAT COMEY FINALLY SAID YES.

IT IS A TEN YEAR HIT. IT IS ONE THING TO SERVE FOUR

YEARS IN THE ADMINISTRATION, IT IS ANOMALY, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE

A TEN YEAR COMMITMENT. THAT'S ONE THING THAT I THINK IT

IS HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE. THE SECOND THING IS THEY'RE NOT

THINKING OF THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBILITIES.

AND THERE WERE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WE TALK TO AND TOOK

THEMSELVES OUT OF THE RACE OR OUT OF THE POTENTIAL

CONSIDERATION. SO IT WAS NOT THE EASIEST THING

TO DO. IT IS A SERIOUS THING TO DO

THIS. >> ALL RIGHT.
