The GET RIPPED Chest Workout (MINI ROUTINE FOR MAX GAINS!) - Duration: 5:46.
What's up Champ! I'm Vince Del Monte of GeneExpressionTraining.com.
In this no-nonsense video we have got a get ripped chest workout for you in four sets.
That's right. Four sets. It's going to take you about seven minutes to do. Alright.
If you think that's not long, you're right It's not long. It's hard. If you're
looking for longer workouts, this is not for you.
A lot of guys are confusing long with hard.
It's the equivalent of me telling you to sprint a marathon.
How do you sprint a marathon? You don't. You could be like, I can sprint 100 to 200
meters and that's what we're trying to do here. We're trying to elevate your
intensity. I'm trying to set the bar high for you. I'm trying to show you what
you're capable of when you are truly training hard. But the only way to train
hard is with shorter workouts. And then if you add on the volume but sustain the
the effort, that's when you'll see better results. Does that make sense?
Alright. Let's dig into the workout. Four exercises. This is going to rip up
your chest. You will feel your chest sore before the workout's even over
unlike waiting 24 to 36 hours for the soreness to kick in like most workouts.
This one is going to make you sore because we're going to inflict a lot of
Muscle Damage. Alright. This is a part of our Unforgiven Series. You guys asked
for it. Let's do it! Exercise one: dumbbell fly from 90
degrees to 45 degrees. 15 reps. Now the key is to use a heavy weight. Now some of
you guys might be thinking aren't dumbbell flyes a bad exercise? No.
That's the equivalent of saying that cars are dangerous. What cars are dangerous if you
don't have good steering and if you don't know how to use the brakes. The brakes,
being your muscles, if you are controlling the movement and contracting muscle, this
is a hundred percent safe. Alright. So as long as you're controlling the
movement, your contracting muscle, you're fine. Alright. That means your joints
aren't crashing into each other and you have no risk of injury.
Alright. So we're going to do 15 reps here. Alright. We're just getting started.
Exercise 2 we're going to do the same thing but we're going to go from 0
degrees to 90 degrees so these are full range of motion. And when you're coming
from about the 45 to 0 degree angle, that's where you get a bit of
rest. Okay. That's intentional. Alright. That way you can extend the set for
another 15 reps. Exercise three are push-ups. Alright. We're going to come
right off the bench down to the ground. If you'd like to use a resistance band,
if you have that available, go for it. If you don't have a resistance band, no
worries. Knock out 15 push-ups. Alright. If you start missing reps that's fine.
You know what to do. You take a 10-second break and use rest pause technique until
you get your goal reps. Alright. Here's where the fun begins.
This is now where we go back to the bench with dumbbells and now we're going to go for
12 reps. Alright. 12 reps here with dumbbells.
And this is where we're giving our trunk support. Now why are we giving ourselves
trunk support at the end of the workout? Because you're most exhausted. And this
is why we want to challenge the chest the most. So we have to take out other
joint systems. What does that mean? Well if you've got too many joint systems
involved, then your brain has to send signals to too many places and we can't
target the muscle we're trying to develop. So that's why we finish back on
a bench and we're using a compound exercise here so we can bring our
shoulders and triceps into it so we can exhaust our chest even further.
Dont switch up the order guys. Do it in this order. It will feel completely different.
It's going to blow up your Pecs. So that's it guys. No-nonsense style. 4 sets
turned into just one big all-out set. That's your workout. If you're a little crazier,
you can do a second round after maybe a four minute rest, but I'm telling you,
if you just focus on doing just 1 quality set, you'll come into with a different mindset.
You're going to put more effort into knowing I have four sets to make
this count. Alright. Guys that come into the gym with
like 24 exercises you're like I gotta pace myself. Well you're never going to
make gaines pacing yourself. Let's set the bar high. See what you're really
capable of in a short period of time and then we can add on volume if you can
sustain the effort. Does that make sense? 116 00:04:12,460 --> 00:04:16,060 This is going to really get you shifting
to more quality workouts and less quantity workouts.
The name of the game guys, especially if you're drug-free,
is quality workouts. It's not what you do. It's how well you do it. If you guys are
enjoying the Unforgiven Series where I am giving you an unforgivable workout,
let me know what body parts you want me to cover next. I got a lot of tricks up
my sleeve and we can keep making these workouts shorter so that you can see
what you're really made of. Remember long workouts aren't hard. They're just long.
Alright. If you really want to get a taste of the main course, what I've been
giving you in these videos, but kind of like the appetizer meal. If you want this
kind of methodology applied into a step by step program over 18 weeks, you got to
check out No Nonsense Muscle Building 2.0. It's already been followed by over
15,000 guys so 15,000 guys can't be wrong. Could they? Check it out by
clicking the link on the screen, or the link in the description. It's my
full-blown, best-selling program that guys rant and rave about. Alright.
Guys I think that's it. I want to thank you guys for pushing me. You guys are giving me so
much awesome feedback. You guys are telling me to step it up. You guys are
asking for more and more and I trust that's because you're applying it.
You're getting results and you're ready for the next thing. That's what this is all about.
If you're not growing you're dying. Alright. I'll see you guys in the next video.
Be sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel
if you haven't done that already.

The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale On What's Next For Wally West - Duration: 3:47.
I think the pros and cons to being a part
of such a huge fandom is the passion.
On one hand, the passion is so incredible and
it can really fuel us to continue our jobs
and inspire us.
On another hand, sometimes people can be so passionate
that sometimes it can also close their minds to something new.
Even for some,
the fact that Wally West went from being Caucasian
to being, you know, a mixed-race black guy.
There was a minority of fans that were so passionate
that they just couldn't relate to that change.
But I think people have sort of come around and,
you know, all we can do is tell the story,
so hopefully they appreciate that.
I was nervous to meet everyone.
I was nervous to meet Jesse L. Martin-
also Tom Cavanagh because he played Reverse Flash
so I was just like- and he did it so well
and I fell for it and I was like,
"Surely he's not a nice guy. Surely he's evil,"
and he's the nicest.
So it was super cool to join the cast.
I had watched season one, so I was quite a fan.
It was pretty cool, that first day, getting to meet everyone.
Eventually, I sort of chilled out, you know,
became with friends with everyone and not such a fan-boy.
I think the lines get a little blurry with the family dynamic
because Candace Patton, Jesse L. Martin, and myself
feel like a real family off-screen. So I think, like,
there are times when we'll go out to the movies
and maybe me and Candace are running late
and Jesse's like, "Come on, guys,"
I'm like, "Is he our- is he actually our dad?"
'cause I feel like this is the situation.
But it's never as extreme as it is on the show.
There's been such a progression for Wally since the beginning.
I think where we're seeing him now,
he's dealing with such disappointment, I think,
in himself, he's trying to become a great superhero
and he's dealing with those struggles of that
things don't always go the way that you planned them to.
So I think now what's next
is him having to deal with that and grow from that,
and hopefully learn from it and become a better hero.
Other than super speed, I think I would love to be able to fly.
so maybe it wouldn't be as fun as I think.
But who wouldn't want to fly?
I think that it'd be the best thing ever.
Invisibility would be cool too,
but I think you would get bored of it.
We can- you know...
I think the most challenging thing about the suit
is the temperature.
which is kind of cool when you're outside and
in Vancouver it rains a lot,
so sometimes we're outside in the rain
and I'm pretty comfortable in my suit.
But if we're inside, we have to do, like, the running stuff.
I swear, after like 30 seconds of running on the spot
in that leather outfit, that gets pretty steamy.
Yeah, I'm doing a ton of music right now.
I've been in the studio almost every day
just writing and recording
'cause I'm on hiatus from the show at the moment,
which has been really cool.
But we haven't set a date yet.
I tried to set a date before and then
we sort of had to come together and figure out-
we needed to make sure everything was creatively right.

A wild new frontier for settlers - Duration: 2:50.
It was acknowledged that Māori were tough critters, you weren't going to go into New Zealand without their acceptance and without being prepared to give them an acknowledgement and were in accord, you had to strike an accord with them that accepted their ways of doing things.
There was a sudden kind of land rush, if you like, of speculators. People who could see opportunities in New Zealand for land purchase and for resale and making a lot of money.
It was a pretty tough frontier country, some of it not very nice from where we are standing now, cannibalism, you know, violent warfare, what we would call today unjust treatment of women and slaves.
It was a real rush, because what had happened is that Henry Williams, who was the kind of leading missionary in the Bay of Islands has just been down on a journey to Port, Port Nicholson as it was then called by the British, Wellington, and he'd seen the evidence of speculative land buying by the New Zealand Company.
It's exactly the time when these humanitarians are saying don't go, you've got Edward Gibbon Wakefield, who once used to be called a father of New Zealand and now he's regarded almost universally as a rogue, who is hatching a plan to colonise, and to colonise in so grandiose terms that he believes that hundreds of thousands of migrants could come to New Zealand over a very short time.
He came back to the Bay of Islands and just a couple of days later Hobson arrives, bearing orders from the British government to sign a treaty with the rangatira.
The Treaty itself and the signing of the Treaty, on the one hand it changes things superficially because nominally New Zealand is a British colony and Britain has a certain sovereignty over the country but in reality it doesn't really change anything on the ground, at least immediately and over large parts of the country for at least the next two decades Māori continue to control their own affairs.
So I think if we look at Henry Williams's role in the signing of the Treaty we have to understand his antipathy towards the New Zealand Company and extensive colonisation.
The intent by the missionaries was probably pure, but post 1840 was a huge influx of immigrants from Europe and from Britain in particular. That intent fell away and the cross was replaced by the sword.

UQx LGD1 057 A framework for influencing across boundaries - Duration: 5:28.
I have the pleasure of teaching a leadership class each year with students doing their
Masters of Business Administration.
I always begin by asking my students to share their greatest leadership challenge.
The most common challenge identified is leading without authority, especially 'influencing
up' in their organisation or influencing people in other work units or organisations.
In other words, 'boundary spanning leadership' when they don't have much authority.
In this presentation we will look at a practical, seven step framework that provides guidance
on how we can tackle this leadership challenge.
The framework originates from a Harvard Business Review journal paper by Professor Gary Hamel
titled 'Waking up IBM: How a gang of unlikely rebels transformed the big blue'.
It describes how a group of non-executive leaders were able to 'influence up' in
their organisation and significantly change the strategic direction of the company.
Despite its origins as a case study from the business world and some colourful descriptive
language, Hamel's framework represents a common approach to boundary spanning leadership.
I first recognised its value when I was researching champion-type leaders who worked at the project
level to drive more sustainable practices.
These leaders had to engage in boundary spanning leadership to influence their peers, executives
in their organisations, stakeholders outside their organisations, and politicians.
They frequently used the steps in Hamel's framework.
Step one in the framework is to establish a point of view.
Our 'point of view' represents a clear position on the direction that we need to
head, supported by a credible and compelling argument.
It must clearly communicate why change is needed.
Step two is to write a manifesto.
A manifesto is a written document that explains our point of view.
It can be used to engage others in order to build a shared vision.
A manifesto can take many forms, from a business case to a novel.
Rachel Carson's famous book called Silent Spring was, in effect, her 'manifesto'
to explain why environmentally harmful pesticides like DDT should be banned.
Step three is to create a coalition.
When we define 'leadership' as a process of influence, it soon becomes clear that it
is a 'team sport' with several people playing different roles.
A coalition of people has a shared vision of what needs to be achieved, coordinates
its activities, and speaks with one voice.
Step four is to pick your targets.
It may sound obvious to clarify the targets for our influence attempts, but this
step is worthy of careful consideration.
For example, to influence a senior politician who is hard to access directly, a development
leader may decide to influence the politician's most trusted adviser, influential people in
their political party and/or the general public.
Understanding the targets of our influence attempts and the contexts in which they operate
is critical.
Step five is to co-opt and neutralise.
When seeking to influence others or instigate
change, resistance is likely.
Hamel's framework encourages the development of 'win-win' solutions and neutralisation
of conflict with potential adversaries.
For example, police in a community affected by alcohol-fuelled violence may be more receptive
to a new alcohol management strategy if they were given some additional staff to help trial
the new approach.
Step six is find a translator. When seeking to influence a person who works
in a different context to us, we may need someone who can act as an interpreter.
For example, we might be working in a foreign environment and seeking to influence a group
of local community elders.
We may know one of them well and be able to get their help to communicate with the other
members of their group.
The final step in Hamel's framework is to win small, win early and win often.
This step highlights the importance of finding ways to quickly demonstrate that our ideas
can work, without the need for stakeholders to take large risks.
Demonstration projects commonly feature at this stage.
If successful, they can help to build our personal power, and provide additional opportunities
for influence.
For example, they may generate reliable costing information or attract interest from the media.
So, what do you think of this framework as tool to help plan and guide your cross-boundary
influence attempts?
Clearly, I think it has value, but I also
think it could be enhanced by adding three steps.
The first is to start with an 'environmental scan' to gain a deep understanding of the
context in which we want to exert influence.
The second is to consider 'windows of opportunity' and particular venues that could help us to
exert influence.
For example, an upcoming local election may create opportunities to engage local politicians.
The third additional step is to reflect and adapt.
It is unlikely that a challenging influence attempt will go completely as planned.
It's more likely that some things we try won't work, and we will need to adapt.
Ideally, we would also be reflecting on our own performance along the way, and using that
experience to grow as leaders.

UQx LGD1 048 Strategies to build the potential for influence (power) - Duration: 7:40.
We have learnt that leadership is a process of influence, that all leaders need power,
and there are different types of power.
This leads to an obvious question – 'how can we build our power bases
as developing leaders?'
In this presentation we will explore four strategies to build personal power, and three
strategies to build position power.
Let's begin with personal power.
Personal power can be associated with our expertise, credibility, likeability and relationships.
The first strategy to build personal power is to build and communicate one's expertise.
Begin by considering what type of expertise you could build
that would enhance your ability to influence.
Remember that there are different types of knowledge.
For example, a leader with technical expertise may also understand how their organisation
works from a systems, cultural and relational perspective.
Often boundary spanning leaders have a 'T-shaped' professional profile.
By that we mean they have at least one area of deep knowledge, and they also have broad
knowledge in a number of areas.
For example, a structural engineer may have deep knowledge of the design of buildings,
but also broad knowledge of topics such as how to lead teams, manage projects, and consult
with the community.
There is a positive correlation between leadership effectiveness and the 'openness to experience'
personality trait.
Leaders with high levels of this trait are keen to try new approaches and continuously
learn.
As President Kennedy stated: "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other".
So, adopt a mindset of continuous learning as a leader.
In addition to acquiring expertise, people around you need to know you have it.
I frequently see inexperienced leaders fall into this trap - they acquire high levels
of knowledge and expertise, but their colleagues don't know they have it.
Consequently, their potential for influence hasn't grown.
Leaders can communicate their expertise in different ways, including publishing papers,
presenting talks, having an up-to-date, online professional profile, and using social media
tools to highlight successful projects.
Another strategy to build personal power is to build one's credibility as a leader.
In their bestselling book, The Leadership Challenge, Professors Jim Kouzes and Barry
Posner argue that credibility is the foundation for leadership.
They recommend that leaders take three steps to build credibility.
First, they should clarify their personal values.
Personal values are behaviours or outcomes that we deem to be particularly important
such as honesty, serving others or sustainability.
Second, they should clearly communicate these values to their colleagues so people know
what they stand for as a leader.
Third, they should always act in accordance with these values – especially when under
pressure.
Do you follow these three steps?
Other ways to build credibility include establishing
a reputation as a competent leader who is also honest, forward-looking and delivers
on promises.
The third strategy to build personal power is to cultivate appropriate social networks.
Appropriately built and maintained social networks can help to access valuable information
and influence people.
Clearly, someone is more likely to carefully consider your proposal if they know you, trust
you and value their relationship with you.
All leadership happens through relationships, so getting the right relationships in place
well before you need them is 'core business' for leaders.
This requires a strategic, proactive mindset.
It is also important to be authentic, have a generous spirit and look to build mutually
beneficial relationships.
The fourth strategy for building personal power is to build skills in navigating organisational
politics.
Braddy and Campbell from the Center for Creative Leadership define political skill as "The
ability to maximise and leverage relationships in order to achieve organisational, team and
individual goals."
In other words, being politically savvy involves learning how to navigate one's organisational
systems and networks in order to get things done.
Brady and Campbell recommend strengthening four leadership competencies to become more
politically savvy.
The first is social awareness, a leader's ability to observe others to understand their
behaviours and motives.
The second is interpersonal influence, a leader's ability to influence others using a compelling
interpersonal style and a broad range of communication behaviours.
The third is networking, a leader's ability to build relationships with key people and
groups across and outside of the organisation.
And the last one is sincerity, a leader's ability to be open, honest and genuine with
others.
Additional strategies include learning from experienced mentors how to navigate the organisation,
and making a conscious effort to learn how the organisation works.
Let's now turn our attention to building position power.
Position power stems from a formal role within an organisation.
One strategy to build position power is to engage in career planning.
Career planning is part of self-leadership.
It involves thinking about the sort of organisations and roles that are likely
to best suit your values, personal mission, strengths and nature.
It also involves identifying actions that you could take to access desirable roles with
more position power.
For example, you may need to acquire additional qualifications and experience, or build relationships
with key people.
Once again, getting help from an experienced mentor can be helpful.
Another strategy is 'venue shopping'.
This involves looking for existing environments where you can access position power.
For example, a leader could volunteer to perform
a leadership role in one of their professional associations, a conference organising committee,
or a board of a non-government organisation
The final strategy is 'venue creation'.
This involves creating an environment where you can access position power.
For example, setting up a new community of practice to address a pressing global development
problem and becoming its coordinator.
Other venues could include a new research group, non-government organisation or work
unit within your organisation.
As you seek to build your power bases, please
recognise that you are likely to face some ethical dilemmas.
For example, you will need to determine how to let your colleagues know about your expertise
and achievements in ways that are not interpreted as taking too much credit for the group's
success.
Drawing from the work of Howard Gardner and
others, I would recommend asking the following questions when faced with such a dilemma:
Is this strategy for building power consistent with the kind of person, worker
or citizen I want to be?
If everyone adopted a similar mind-set, what would the world be like?
Am I acting in accordance with my core personal values?
Would the strategy pass the 'newspaper test'?
In other words, would I be comfortable if all the details of this attempt at building
power were described on the front page of my local newspaper.
Will this strategy be beneficial in the long term?
In this presentation we have covered seven strategies to build your potential for
influence - your power.
We have also emphasised the importance of acting ethically in the process.
Please take a moment to identify which of these strategies you could use and which should
be included in your leadership plan.
