Hello everyone! This bag I've got it for my daughter from a kindergarten in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Let's see what we have inside!
First thing that I see is a ball.
My daughter will be 5 in October, and beginning with September she will attend kindergarten.
Here the kindergarten starts from 5 years old and is part of the school.
So, next thing we have, is a magazine with all the activities from the city of Calgary.
Sports, Music, Dance, Summer Camps and everything else.
What else do we have here
We have another brochure with activities for families
So, it's about reading, singing, playing, talking with your kids
So, parents are encouraged to do all these thing with their kids.
Next, we have a note for the parents welcoming to kindergarten
Here we have an exercise for the kids to practice their writing
Which to me seems to be an exaggeration
for such small kids, my daughter is 4,5 years old after all
and to practice writing it's too early in my opinion
I first time learned how to write when I was 7 years old in grade 1
Here when I was at the orientation day and I met the teachers
First thing they asked was for the kids to write their names
This definitely shocked me
Because my daughter was only 4,5 years old
And most shocking was the fact that the other kids wrote their names with no problem at all!
The next thing is a list with all the staff that I have to buy and that costs around $30.
And the days when we have to come for the interviews.
We have here a recipe for Play Dough
that every parent would have to use it to make play dough once a month or less often
and it's only water, salt, oil and tartar cream
very simple and affordable.
Next thing, we have a guide sponsored by Canadian Government
regarding the food habits
here we have the quantities for every age
dairies, fruit and vegetables
for kids, teens and adults
Next we have healthy drinks, healthy kids, so it's all about healthy drinks
water, milk and again the quantities for each age category
We also have some information regarding the quantities of sugar that every drink has.
For example a regular pop has 10 teaspoons of sugar.
Oh My...
I don't imagine drinking a cup of tea with 10 teaspoons of sugar
but when I drink a regular pop I don't even feel it's too sweet.
Healthy Snacking. Every parent is preparing a snack for their kids when they are in school.
And in this flyer we are encouraged to offer them something healthy.
Let's see what they offer.
(child's voice) I want this and this. I eat this and this.
You eat fruit and yogurt, yeah?
we see here pop-corn. I don't know how healthy is the pop-corn.
Again fruits, cereals, cheese etc.
Next thing we have some info about the immunization program.
Then we have some colored paper
Scissors and a glue stick
white paper for free drawing
wax crayons
We also have letters and numbers
these also have magnets
and we can stick them on the fridge
Next we have a brochure about how we can make the bed time easier
Here is written how many hours a child should sleep depending on the age
Let's see how much time should my daughter sleep?
4,5 years old corresponds to 11,5 hours of sleep
We have some cards that we can color them.
And we choose the one we like most.
it's about creating some habits before sleep.
My daughter is registered in a Roman-Catholic School so obviously they encourage the prayer before sleep.
Next we have a rucksack offered by the Calgary Public Library
Which child doesn't like carrying a rucksack, especially as cute as this one.
Next we have a book with English letters and with the wild animals of Canada.
The next book is a nice story that we have already read it.
I found a pencil.
And a children's magazine for kids ages 3 to 6.
Very cute and colorful.
with many games ideas
here we learn how to be polite
A story about my first day in school.
and again ideas of games, physical exercises even for handicap kids.
So nobody is isolated, nobody is neglected.
Creative snacks and coloring pages
And some resources. That's it.
This bag was offered free of charge
Few things that I want to mention is that the kindergarten starts from 5 years old and is part of the school.
It's 3 hours per day, 5 days a week.
And it should cost around $200 per year. This should be the price for a Roman-Catholic School.
Thank you for your attention. All the best!
