LET THE BIBLE SPEAK - The Unpardonable Sin - Duration: 28:15.- What is the unpardonable sin?
Find out next on Let the Bible Speak.

Announcer: From the churches of Christ
Let the Bible Speak
with Evangelist Kevin Presley.
I'm so glad you've joined me today
for a study of the Word of God.
One of the most common questions that preachers are asked,
I suppose, is the question
what is the sin that God will not forgive?
You know, the Bible speaks about that.
And can men commit that sin today,
or, more personally, have I committed the unpardonable sin?
Most students of the Bible surely have wondered
about the words of our Lord recorded
in Matthew Chapter 12, beginning in verse 31.
There, Jesus said, "Wherefore I say unto you,
"all manner of sin and blasphemy
"shall be forgiven unto men,
"but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost
"shall not be forgiven unto men.
"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man,
"it shall be forgiven him,
"but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost,
"it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world,
"neither in the world to come."
Serious words indeed,
and whatever this seemingly mysterious sin
against the Holy Spirit is,
we dare not be found guilty of it.
In our study today,
we'll look at this weighty passage of Scripture
and learn about the unpardonable sin.
- If you've ever visited an Assembly of the Church of Christ
you've seen that it's different.
No rock bands, no choirs and praise teams,
no theatrical productions.
That's because we believe worship is simple
but profound, and is according to what's revealed
in God's Word.
When you visit with the Church of Christ,
you'll find that everybody simply sings
the praise of the Lord together, congregationally.
We meet around the Lord's table every Sunday
to remember the body and blood of the Lord
in His new covenant.
We pray together, and none of that pop psychology.
But sound teaching from the Word of God.
Oh and one more thing.
We won't ask for your money.
Members provide for the needs of the local church
through a weekly collection.
So forget all the hype.
Come see the difference,
and be our honored guest today.
Any sin is serious in the sight of God.
By definition, sin is the transgression
or breaking of God's law,
according to 1 John 3 in verse 4.
And all sin is devastating to our relationship to God
who is holy and just.
The prophet Ezekiel said in Ezekiel 18 in verse 20,
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
And Paul declared that, "The wages of sin is death,"
Romans 6 in verse 23.
But the Bible also tells us that God is rich in mercy
and eager to forgive our sins when we approach Him
through Christ in obedient faith,
and any sin that a man can repent of can be forgiven,
and any person who can believe and obey
the conditions of the gospel can be saved.
Jesus made that clear in Matthew 11 in verse 28.
He said, "Come unto Me all ye that labor
"and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
When the Lord commissioned His apostles
to preach the gospel in Mark 16, beginning in verse 15,
He said, "Go into all the world,
"and preach the gospel to every,
"every creature.
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved."
And just before the pen of Revelation
was laid down forevermore,
as if to leave us with one last assurance
of God's grace and limitless mercy,
John wrote in Revelation 22 in verse 17,
"The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.'
"And let him that heareth say, 'Come.'
"And let him that is athirst come.
"And whosoever will,
"let him take the water of life freely."
Those who are Christians are told in 1 John 1 in verse 9,
"If we confess our sins,
"He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all,"
A-L-L, "all unrighteousness."
But yet we have the text of our study today
in Matthew chapter 12.
And there, the Scripture seems to strike a different tone
when Jesus said that all manner of sin would be forgiven,
even one who speaks against God's own Son, Jesus Christ.
But one sin, He says,
is beyond the reach of God's forgiveness,
and that is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said that one who blasphemes or speaks against,
is what the word blaspheme means,
one who speaks against the Spirit of God
would not be forgiven then
nor in the world that was to come.
Well, those words ring with cold
and hopeless finality, don't they?
No forgiveness ever.
Once you've committed that sin,
according to Jesus, it's over.
We also read in Hebrews chapter 6
that there are those who,
having tasted of the Good Word of God
and the powers of the world to come and then fall away,
that it is impossible to renew them under a penance,
"seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
"and put him to an open shame,"
Hebrews chapter 6 and verse 6.
Well, these passages seem to suggest
that some sins are of such a nature
that they are beyond the reach of God's mercy.
For some reason and in some respect,
those sins are considered, well, unforgivable.
So which is it?
Can one be cleansed of all unrighteousness, as John says?
Or are there sins that are well beyond the pale
and cannot be forgiven?
Well, Paul told Timothy that,
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,"
2 Timothy 3 in verse 16,
and God cannot lie, and so therefore,
Scripture does not contradict Scripture.
And the true interpretation of each passage
will harmonize with the others, or else,
one or more of those interpretations is false.
So, what is Jesus saying when He speaks of the sin
that God will not forgive?
Can I commit it today?
Is it possible that you or I are guilty of it?
Well, first, let's consider the usual explanations
given to this passage in Matthew chapter 12.
Some, first of all, think that the sin consists
of attributing Christ's power
to perform miracles to Beelzebub.
Now, it is true, if you look here
at the surrounding context,
that what the Pharisees witnessed
were the miracles of Jesus,
and when they saw His miracles,
they couldn't deny that they had seen a miracle.
They would have been foolish to deny
that a miracle had taken place.
You see, miracles then were real miracles.
They weren't what men today claim are miracles.
There's no disputing that a miracle took place
when one did take place.
And so even the Pharisees couldn't deny
that Jesus had manifested miraculous power.
The problem is it put them on the horns of a dilemma.
They either had to acknowledge
that Christ's power came from God
and thus, they would have to acknowledge
and confess Him to be who He claimed to be, the Son of God.
Or they had to deny the miracle, and they couldn't do that
because it was obvious a miracle took place,
and they refused to believe that Jesus was the Son of God,
so what they did was they said
that His power came from Beelzebub.
It came from an evil source.
Well, that certainly was a sin against the Holy Spirit,
and it certainly involved in what Jesus
was referring to here on this occasion.
But I think we'll see today
that this sin against the Holy Spirit
really has a much wider application.
And then some believe that this sin
could only be committed while Jesus
was on earth performing miracles.
And since the miraculous age has passed,
well, it therefore has no relevance to modern people.
Since the Holy Spirit is no longer empowering men
to perform miracles, then it would be impossible
to sin against Him, as Jesus speaks of.
Well, that can't be true because neither God nor Christ
are empowering men to perform miracles today,
and so that reasoning would lead us to conclude
that one could not sin against Christ or God today either,
so that can't be correct.
And then some would warn us that refusing to accept
the modern and speculative theories that people advance
about the Holy Spirit and His supposed manner
of working in the world today,
well, that might just be the sin that Jesus was speaking of.
But that's not the case either because, listen,
for one thing, rejecting the false doctrines
of men about the Holy Spirit,
that's not speaking against the Holy Spirit.
It's defending the truth of the Holy Spirit.
It's not speaking against the Spirit Himself.
It's speaking against the false doctrines
that these men come up with and spread
about the Holy Spirit that the Bible does not teach.
And then there are those who are under the impression
that the sin against the Holy Spirit
is decreed unpardonable because of the special nature
of the Holy Spirit and His work.
In other words, Christ was really exalting
the third person of the God head
as being, in effect, so holy and special
that it is beyond the pale and unforgivable
to speak a word against Him.
But that has nothing to do with it per se.
Yes, the Holy Spirit is divine,
He is the third person of the God head,
He is certainly holy and to be reverenced,
but no more than Christ or God the Father.
In fact, Jesus said in John 16 in verse 14
that the Spirit's purpose was to bring glory to Jesus,
not the other way around.
You know, listening to some preachers today,
you would almost think that Jesus was sent
to be the forerunner of the Holy Spirit,
but that's not the way it was.
The Holy Spirit came after Jesus
in order to point back to Jesus
and to shed light upon Him
and to lift Him up and glorify Him
by the revelation of the gospel plan
of salvation in Christ.
And then some have concluded that the unpardonable sin
might be the act of suicide, since one who commits it
has no opportunity to repent and seek forgiveness.
But as terrible and heartbreaking of a circumstance
for all involved as suicide may be,
it's not a sin against the Holy Spirit
in the context that Jesus is speaking of here.
Nowhere is such idea or such an action
under consideration in this particular passage.
And finally, some believe that the sin
against the Holy Spirit is the so-called unforgivable sin
that John speaks of over in 1 John 5 and verse 16.
Now that passage reads that,
"If any man see his brother sin a sin
"which is not unto death,
"he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them
"that sin not unto death.
"There is a sin unto death.
"I do not say that he shall pray for it."
Well, now let's think about that for a moment.
John says, now follow it closely, John says
there is sin that is not unto death.
Now that doesn't mean that any sin is not serious
or he is not saying that there are sins
that are not worthy of death.
That's not what he is saying.
He is saying that there is not a sin
that brings irrevocable judgment
for which there is no repentance and no forgiveness.
He says there is sin that is not unto death.
And when a brother commits such a sin,
he says we may pray to God on his behalf,
and the Lord will hear and answer.
But on the other hand,
he says there is a sin that is unto death.
That is, this is a sin of finality.
And he says when a brother is guilty of it,
it does no good to pray for him
because God will not forgive it.
Well, that sounds rather frightening.
What is this sin unto death that John is warning of?
Well, the answer is actually back in chapter 1 of 1 John.
Look again in 1 John 1 beginning in verse 7.
He says, "But if we walk in the light,
"as he is in the light, we have fellowship
"one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
"cleanseth us from all,"
A-L-L, "all sin."
And if we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Look at it now.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.
Now, consider what he says.
This passage here says that the Lord will forgive
all sins a brother confesses.
Well, if he says all sins can be forgiven,
then there is no exception to that.
The Lord will forgive all sins a brother confesses.
But in 1 John 5 in verse 16, he there says
that there is a sin the Lord won't forgive.
Now if the Lord will forgive all sins
that a brother confesses, but on the other hand,
there is a sin the Lord won't forgive,
what we conclude from that is
the sin that the Lord will not forgive is the sin
that a brother refuses to confess or acknowledge.
That is, if a man will not acknowledge his sin
before God and thus repent of it and turn away from it,
it does no good to pray to God for His forgiveness.
He has to repent of his sin.
He has to acknowledge that to God,
humble himself before God and turn from his sin,
or else, there is no forgiveness for it.
Not only that, the sin under consideration
in Matthew 12 and 31 was a sin committed
by an unbeliever who rejected the deity of Jesus.
However, the sin of 1 John 5 and verse 16
is a sin that is committed by a brother in the Lord
who has, at one time, accepted the truth about Jesus.
So they're not talking about the same thing.
The sin that John is contemplating is simply a sin,
is simply a sin that a Christian refuses to acknowledge
and therefore turn from, and it does no good
to pray for such and want forgiveness.
And consequently, that passage refutes
the Calvinistic doctrine of "Once saved, always saved,"
as John is writing a letter to saints or Christians,
and he warns them about a brother
committing a sin unto death.
Well, how can a man be saved if he's guilty of a sin
that God will not forgive, you see.
But back to Matthew 12 now.
Since we've seen what Jesus is not talking about,
let's see what He is talking about.
Let's read the passage again.
He says, "Wherefore I say unto you,
"all manner of sin and blasphemy
"shall be forgiven unto men
"but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost
"shall not be forgiven unto men.
"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man,"
that is, against Jesus,
"it shall be forgiven him
"but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost,
"it shall not be forgiven him,
"neither in this world,
"neither in the world to come."
Now notice carefully,
a person may sin against God and be forgiven.
He may sin against Christ and be forgiven.
But He says if he sins against the Holy Spirit,
he cannot be forgiven.
And then Jesus adds, "Neither in this world
"nor in the world to come."
Now, the translation "world" there
is perhaps a little misleading to some.
He's not saying in this life nor in the life beyond.
That can't be the case because the fact is
no sin will be forgiven in the life that is to come.
Now is the time of salvation,
the Bible is abundantly clear about that.
There will be no forgiveness extended
after the probation period
of this earthly life is over.
Right now, God's mercy is being shown to mankind
and offering him the gospel plan of salvation.
You see, the judgment bar is not going to be
where God's mercy is shown.
God's mercy is shown now,
and you and I best avail ourselves of it
while we yet have the breath of life
and the power to choose it.
God's mercy is shown now, and if you refuse it,
then only judgment awaits in the life to come.
So what does He mean when He says
"in the world now or in the world to come?"
Well, actually, the word translated "world" in this passage
is often used in the Bible for age or dispensation.
So then what Jesus is saying is
that those who committed this sin against the Holy Spirit
could not be forgiven in the age in which Jesus spoke this,
which was consequently the Mosaic age
living yet under the law,
and neither, He says,
will it be forgiven in the age or dispensation to come,
which is the present age or the Christian dispensation,
when the gospel, here's the key, when the gospel
would be fully preached and offered to all mankind.
So, what is the sin?
Why is it so serious to sin against the Holy Spirit?
Well, Guy N. Woods used to illustrate it this way,
and I think it's an excellent and fitting explanation
and a very logical explanation of the words of Jesus.
He said imagine a man is in a boat floating down the river.
And below him are some dangerous rapids
over which, if he passes, he goes to his death.
And let's say a little way down the river,
a man stands on the bank and shouts a warning to him.
The man in the boat ignores it and floats on.
A little way down, a second man shouts a second warning
and offers to pull the man out of the water.
But let's say he refuses that man too and he floats on.
And just before he reaches the brink,
a third man shouts a final, emphatic, plain warning to him,
makes a last offer to save the man,
but that too is refused.
And so the man is swept over the rushing falls to his doom.
Now let's think about that.
He might have accepted the first man's offer
and have been saved.
Perhaps he waits and accepts the second man's offer.
He could still be saved.
In fact, he could have even rejected
the first and second men's offers
and still accepted offer number three
and still have been saved.
But when he passed up the third offer,
he passed his last chance of salvation.
Well, you know, that's what many have done.
You know, when man sinned in the Garden of Eden,
God's justice would have allowed
the annihilation of the human race.
But mercy stepped in.
Thank God, mercy stepped in and stayed the judgment of God.
And for at least 4,000 years,
through the tearful pleadings of the Old Testament prophets,
God sought to turn wayward men from his sinful course
but with little success.
In fact, the prophet Isaiah represents himself
as "standing with outstretched arms
"before a disobedient and gainsaying people,"
Paul records in Romans 10 and 21.
So through the prophets, God extended the first offer,
which was largely refused.
And then in the fullness of time,
He sent His Son to the lost world.
That was offer number two,
and that too was rejected,
since John 1:11 reminds us that, "He came unto His own
"and even His own received Him not."
Not only did the masses reject Him as the Son of God
but crucified him.
But still, amazingly still,
the mercy of God had not run out.
And just 50 days after the Resurrection on Pentecost,
offer number three was extended
to them and to you and to me.
It was extended through the work
and the influence of the Holy Spirit
that was poured out upon the apostles.
He worked through the apostles
and there revealing the gospel to the world.
But my friend, listen carefully.
That's it.
That's offer number three.
That was the last.
There will never be another plan offered to the world.
The gospel which the Holy Spirit brought to earth
through the apostles and confirmed in them
by the miracles they performed
is the final offer of mercy to mankind.
And if you reject the gospel plan of salvation,
doom awaits, no if, and, or but about it.
Paul declared in 2 Corinthians chapter 1:7-9,
"To you who are troubled rest with us,
"when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven
"with His mighty angels, in flaming fire
"taking vengeance on them that know not God,
"and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
"who shall be punished with everlasting destruction
"from the presence of the Lord,
"and from the glory of His power."
Remember the Hebrew writer warned those Christians
who would leave Christ
and return to the sacrifices of the Jewish temple
in Hebrews 10:27-29, saying,
"But a certain fearful looking for
"of judgment and fiery indignation,
"which shall devour the adversaries.
"He that despised Moses' law died without mercy
"under two or three witnesses.
"Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye,
"shall he be thought worthy,
"who hath trodden under foot the Son of God,
"and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
"wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing,
"and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
Now don't think that this is a sin that's committed
in one single act of disbelief.
It's a gradual sin,
begins when one grieves the Spirit
like a disobedient child grieves a parent.
It leads to one resisting the teaching of the Spirit,
as the Jews did that resisted the prophets.
And finally, quenching the Spirit, that is,
destroying the influence of the Spirit in your life
by totally and finally repudiating
and shutting the door of your heart to the gospel.
And in so doing, the sinner becomes numb
to the appeal of the gospel,
and he becomes so hard of heart
that the gospel cannot reach him.
You see, the unforgivable sin is not a sin
that God cannot forgive
as much as it is a sin that man cannot repent of
because he destroyed his heart through his rejection,
and he passed up the last and final and proven appeal
of salvation in Jesus Christ revealed with the Spirit,
and friend, that's very serious.
And if you have not obeyed the gospel,
I want you to open the door of your heart to Christ today
by obeying Him in baptism,
and I hope you'll do it today.

Recalibration & DNA Upgrade In Preparation Of The New Moon - Duration: 5:20.Recalibration & DNA Upgrade In Preparation Of The New Moon.
by Tiffany Stiles,
Dear Beautiful Souls!
Today appetites will be null as the body detoxes and continues to clear.
All goes offline and back online as this recalibration occurs.
The body physically will be achy today as further clearing occurs through the heart,
throat and sacral chakras.
The palpitations and flutters in these chakras makes you aware when expansion/clearing is
occurring.
As one fully begins to integrate with the higher vibrational energies of gamma, photon,
star particle and crystalline, the body requires rest, plenty of water and self care.
Every particle, atom and cell rejuvenates with these creating transcendence of lower
vibrational energy to higher within.
As your body continues to upgrade in frequency with these downloads of energy, the higher
frequencies enact a firing off of the DNA within upgrading your DNAs spliced strands
recalibrating and recoding.
This fires off signals in the brain connecting new pathways that werent enabled before.
As the gamma, photon, star particle surges through the body it affects the nervous system
as everything recalibrates and comes back online.
As this occurs, one is also upgraded with new Metaphysical abilities and capabilities
as further mass in the brain connects to the upgraded DNA/RNA.
When this occurs you have high vibrational frequency surging through your body, this
affects electronics you work with or are in contact with.
You will notice these will also come online and go off line too.
This includes your cell, laptop, tablet, TV, radio, vehicle, lights, etc
You will have the frequencies coming in through the ears with ringing, high pitched vibration
and humming.
This is how new information is downloaded and given.
Quiet the mind to hear your messages from your Guides.
The lungs are clearing attached to the heart chakra.
You may have had extra mucous expel through the night.
Headaches also may be experienced throughout the day as all adjusts within.
You may notice extra water retention too indicating a flush of toxins needing released.
Do this through extra water to release through the kidneys and bladder attached to the sacral
chakra.
The 3rd Eye (pineal) over produces melatonin and fluctuates serotonin to force the rest
the body needs, this also causes moods to fluctuate.
DMT also peaks with visions through rest/REM or meditation.
Journal these.
The Crown becomes tingly, itchy, and tight while it opens to receive Divine Energy through
and in.
Here you connect with your Angels, Guides, Archangels/God Source/ Ascended Masters/ Goddesses.
The root chakra with kundalini becomes active and rises.
Your solar plexus activates your free will.
When clearing occurs here is causes gastrointestinal issues and stomach upset.
This also activates the GPS of the soul, your inner guidance/intuition.
All chakras are firing up through these upgrades and this clearing, releasing, activating,
recalibrating is what enacts the DNA upgrades/crystalline light body.
You Become A Conduit
You can feel this energy surging through your hands and feet, with your pulse throbbing
at your palms and fingertips.
This is your body acting as a conduit for this energy to flow through to heal others,
anchor into Gaia, and send out into the collective consciousness to stabilize, calm, transmute,
transcend.
Through this pure state of unconditional love, compassion and empathy connected to All That
Is, you are an alchemist.
You have the capability to tap into the Divine Energy flow and manifest whatever you wish.
Keep your thoughts positive.
Today, as the body goes offline to recalibrate and adjust your energy will be low.
Take today to rest as the next major shift comes in on the 26-28th with New Moon in Aquarius.
The Twin Flame/Soul Mate Portal is open now and further gamma, photon and star particle

North Korea more likely to test mid-range Musudan missile, rather than ICBM: Seoul military official - Duration: 0:54.North Korea is more likely to test fire a Musudan intermediate-range ballistic missile
before it tests a long-range one.
That's according to a South Korean military official, who said North Korea is more likely
to focus on increasing the reliability of the Musudan... as an intercontinental ballistic
missile launch would certainly end in failure.
Last year the North test-fired eight Musudan and only one was deemed a success.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in his New Year's address that his country is almost
ready to test-fire an ICBM, but Seoul interpreted it as a move to attract the attention of the
Trump administration.
But the military official warned that an ICBM launch is not entirely off the table, because
ultimately a launch depends on the whim of the North Korean leader.

What is Globalization? - Duration: 8:26.What is globalization?
Our textbook answers the question by saying that globalization
is a convergence of five things. I'm not going to distract you with wobbly or spinning
graphics after that. I just wanted to wake you up. Globalization is the convergence of 5 things. First it's a convergence of economies.
Back in the middle of the 20th century we can describe national capitalisms. So there were
capitalist countries but they were fairly autonomous from each other
in the sense that they were regulated by their governments, they have different laws that protect a different industries. They were semi-
independent from each other. Yes there was international trade between them but
still it was a world in which each capitalist country was its own system.
Now more and more we are in an age when there is simply one worldwide capitalist free market.
People talk about
the global free market in which laissez faire capitalism occurs. Laissez faire simply means to leave something alone.
Don't interrupt it. Don't put in regulations or rules or customs that interfere with the pure
functioning of supply and demand economics, which is pure capitalism.
So the world is becoming more and more one big open free market stage for capitalism.
And within the world economy we have the appearance of global financial institutions.
These are things like the World Bank. The world has a bank. Countries go to the bank and borrow
money from it. And they have to pay the money back with interest.
The World Bank lends money, often vast sums of money to countries
in an attempt to help them develop. Most of the loans are specifically designed to help developing countries
improve their infrastructure somehow so they can become more competitive in this world free
market system. So the World Bank actively promotes free market capitalism
and lends money to countries trying to get them
to succeed in that free market.
Another global financial institution here is the International Monetary Fund which is very similar to the World Bank. It also loans money.
However, when the IMF loans money it attaches strings to the loan.
So the IMF says all right, I'll lend you money, but if you take the loan you have to change your policies in order to make your country
more free market-oriented. What that usually means is the country is obliged to cut social spending
so they can't use money on education and health care and things like that as much because they
need that money to repay the loan with the interest.
They also have to get rid of tariffs and other taxes that interfere with laissez faire capitalism.
And other things that we'll be talking about in this class.
The World Trade Organization is another global financial institution. Most countries in the world have signed the World Trade Organization
treaty - they're members -- and the WTO regulates the free trade that's going on in this world free market.
Transnational corporations like McDonald's are are global financial institutions. These are companies that are so global
that they more or less don't have a home country at all. They simply float around the world. They have branches, shops, restaurants whenever
whatever, all around the world. So they really have a home country. They just float around the earth.
Uh.
And there's a shoe, which is kind of a symbol of the global free market. This is the Air Max Penny which is the favorite example
from your textbook. To make an Air Max Penny 120 different workers have to touch it.
It has in its ingredients that make it come from all around the world. The cotton may come from Brazil;
The leather er the rubber might come from Peru; the metal grommets if there are any might come from South America;
and on and on. So it's taking materials from around the world, passing through many many workers hands, ultimately coming together in
this one shoe which is then sold in the global free market through Amazon.com or what have you.
Globalization is also a convergence of ecosystems. As I just said, I am now going to repeat myelf. Here we can even see,
It's like mining, you know maybe the grommets are coming from here; rubber is being tapped from this tree.
Uh, here is more mining going on somewhere and here is cotton being harvested all to produce this one item which then is sold
worldwide. So the production of products draws together materials taken from ecosystems
around the world. And they converge in the form of these products
and sold on the world market.
Another thing that's converging is information. There are almost no parts of the world anymore that are shrouded in mystery and darkness and
the unknown because there's somebody there with a cell phone and they're uplinking information to the Internet.
So we can now see information from everywhere around the world. Of course not all
parts of the world are equally Internetted and can do this.
But there's somebody even in a country like North Korea which is
highly censored and regulated area nobody can get in and out freely. But there is still somebody smuggling in a cell phone.
And we can see what's going on. That's why some people think
there will be the ultimate good effect of the convergence of information will be some kind of
universal standard for human rights. Because we all see what was going on around the world.
There's no part of the world where customs that are so out of the ordinary and different
can take place where we don't know about. So hopefully the fact that we all know what's going on will kind of lead us toward formulating a
universal standard of human rights. Maybe that's optimistic but it's a hope.
People are converging.
When we meet in class have a look around the room. The Cal State Northridge student body are made up of people have come here
from around the world. Many of them or their families just within the last generation or two.
So Los Angeles is a great example of a place - a world city -
that draws people from all around the world. So globalization involves the convergence of people in specific spots like world cities.
And language convergence. This is the last one. So increasingly, even though people may have their own first language they are
increasingly required to speak a second language that that is the universal second
language. The language of business that people speak around the world.
Let me let you read my funny cartoon here.
So this guy on the left probably speaks Japanese as a native, the guy on the right might speak Swahili, but the language they have in
common is English. And yes, English is the common international language.
A long time ago Germany was sort of playing that role and seemed like German might become the the world's second language.
And that's why the term English now is lingua franca - Frankish tongue. English has replaced
Germany as the international business language.
And
that's it about globalization for now. Thank you.

2064: Read Only Memories' Starfucker Is Only Rated Teen - Duration: 2:00.Hello.
This is Jonathan from Censored Gaming.
We have already gone over the different ratings Root Letter has in both North America and
Europe, with how certain curse words made the game rated M, while in Europe, it was
rated with a PEGI 12.
This showed how some countries were lenient with the rating.
This included Australia and Germany, who can be stricter with games like this, not giving
it a rating equivalent of a M rating in North America.
However, a recent post in the Censored Gaming subreddit revealed something stranger with
2064: Read Only Memories.
It only received a T for Teen rating, releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 17th
of this year, but released on Steam on October 6, 2015.
This is despite the fact that there are two instances of strong language being used.
The first is a character's name being Starfucker.
The game also features voice-acting, actually saying the name, so this isn't fully dependent
on just the writing for swearing.
The second instance is when ordering a drink, in which it is called a Fuckin' IDK.
These were the only two examples provided, but seemed extreme enough that it does bring
up why Root Letter was given an M, yet Read Only Memories got away with a T. Even the
developer proudly showed off a screenshot for the game.
It's unknown if this was done through an update.
Considering the original Steam version in 2015, it seems unlikely, especially when the
screenshot posted on Reddit was taken on a PlayStation 4.
Nor does anything on the developer's Twitter, or the Twitter for the game itself, reveal
that this was done in any update.
Uses of the F word are said to give games an instant M rating by ESRB, so it's a possibility
that this is something that the rating system somehow managed to overlook.
Should more information become available, we will keep you updated.

Core Group Realty: How we determine a home's fair market value - Duration: 2:39.(pulsing electronic music)
- Well, hi there, Thom Dallman here with Core Group Realty.
In our line of business we get asked quite often
from our clients how we determine that
a house is actually listed at a fair market value.
We do that in several different ways.
First off, we actually like to pull
the sold comps in the area
and really look closely at the homes in the area
that have sold in the last three to six months,
compare them, we compare, you know, number of rooms,
square footage, garage size,
amenities such as granite counter tops, wood floors,
things like that, so we really get a really good idea,
a comparison on the homes that are in the same area,
the same general vicinity,
that sold in the last three to six months.
To make sure that the pricing is accurate for
fair market values in today's marketplace,
and the reason that we do this is because
when we go to submit an offer on behalf of a client,
we want to make sure they're submitting a fair price,
that they're getting what they feel is a good deal,
but also to make sure that there's no issues
when it comes time for an appraisal.
You know, down the line through the loan process
we're going to have to have an appraiser come out,
the lender will, send in an appraiser to go
make sure that the house is being bought
at fair market value, and so we want to make sure
that we're as close as possible to that mark,
because if an appraiser comes in and says that
the house is not of the value of what the offer is,
we can run into some problems.
There's usually some negotiating that can happen
at that point, either the sellers will drop the price
to where the fair market value is, or
the buyer has to come up with some extra cash
to purchase the house if they really want it, so
there's things that can be worked around
if an appraisal comes in less, but
that's why we ask agents and why it's very important
to have a trusted real estate agent helping you
in that process, really taking a look at those comparables
in the marketplace.
Hope this bit of information has been helpful for you.
Don't forget that if you need any help in
getting your home value or in looking at homes,
we have a couple of convenient links down below,
our home search site where you can get all the MLS listings,
updated every 15 minutes for you, as well as
a home valuation page where you can go
and put in your address and find out
what your home's current value is in today's marketplace,
it gives you a kind of general idea.
Hope you're all having a wonderful day,
and thanks a lot for listening.

Proper PCR Cleanup before Sanger Sequencing - Seq It Out #12 - Duration: 3:09.Why is a clean template for your Sanger sequencing reaction important?
And what are the ways to get it without losing too much precious samples?
Let's find out today.
The sequencing workflow usually starts with PCR also known as Polymerase Chain Reaction,
where the target fragment is replicated into thousands of copies under a controlled condition
using primers, DNA polymerases and deoxynucleotides.
Before the PCR product is ready for Sanger sequencing, you must do one more thing, a
PCR clean up step.
Because Sanger sequencing is a highly accurate technique for you to read DNA sequence base
by base, it is very important to clean up your reaction mixtures so that those unincorporated
primers and dNTPs won't interfere with your results.
So how do you perform this PCR clean up step and what are your options?
There are several methods for PCR cleanup such as ethanol precipitation, bead or column
based purification, and Enzymatic approaches.
Ethanol precipitation is most cost effective but is also the most labor intensive.
Bead or column based purification can be an effective method for many applications.
However, this route tends to be a bit pricier compared to other options.
This method of purification also requires transferring samples in and out of the column
which can often result in the loss of some of your precious samples so this may not be
the best method for those with limited starting materials.
An enzymatic cleanup approach has a really simple and straightforward workflow.
In fact, it's only one single pipetting step!
It is also relatively affordable compared to the bead or column based purification methods.
Basically, you add an enzyme mix to your finished PCR reaction and let it sit at a certain temperature.
But to understand this method better, let's take a look at our lab book.
One of the enzymes, exonuclease I(one), digests excess primers.
At the same time the other enzyme in the mix, alkaline phosphatase, dephosphorylates nucleotides
in the reaction.
Dephosphorylation means that the enzyme renders the dNTPs from your reaction useless, so that
they don't disturb the sequencing reaction.
This is important because the sequencing reaction has a very specific ratio for its nucleotides
and you don't want to change that ratio.
Now the enzymes have done their work and you don't need them anymore.
You can simply heat up the reaction mix to 80 degrees and this will deactivate the enzymes.
The result is a very clean amplicon that is now ready to go into your sequencing reaction.
You don't need to perform any other steps.
And you didn't lose any of your template either.
You are done!
But I am sure you'll have more questions on PCR cleanup.

'Alien' life could exist high in Earth's atmosphere - Duration: 4:41.Alien life could exist high in Earths atmosphere.
by Chuck Bednar.
What if alien organisms are hiding in plain sight, high above the planets surface in
our own atmosphere? Its a question that researchers will attempt to solve later on
this year, and it may have implications on how we search for microbial life on other
planets as well.
According to Seeker, a team of students from the University of Houston plan to launch a
high-altitude experiment as part of a mission to study auroras that is scheduled to lift
off from Alaska in March. Their experiment, which the website said looks almost like
a small laundry hamper, will search for microbes in the atmosphere 11-31 miles (18-50
km) from the ground.
Once it reaches its target altitude, the instrument will open up to collect samples, then close
as the balloon-equipped experiment begins to descend. The students believe that this
system will be less likely to become contaminated than more complicated systems, but since it
has not yet been tested, they are not 100% certain exactly how well it will perform in
high altitude conditions. A lot of times, these microbes when they
go up there, they shut down. They are not replicating and they are not metabolically
active, Houston student and project team member Jamie Lehnen told Seeker on Friday.
Im interested in how their stress response is similar to those [microbes] back on Earth's
surface."
Research could impact search for life on other planets
Roughly two months after the Houston teams experiment, NASA plans to conduct a study
of their own: the ABoVE (Arctic-Boreal Vulnerability Experiment), which according to Seeker is
set to run in May and June and will involve using a Gulfstream III jet to monitor how
changing climate conditions are affecting plants, animals and the environment as a whole.
David Smith, a microbial researcher at the US space agency, will fly with the ABoVE team
to study the microorganisms that travel in a massive spring airstream that move along
the Pacific Ocean. As he told the website, he and his colleagues hope to find out what
organisms are being carried across the ocean along with the dust and aerosol particles
moved by that airstream.
The research project will allow us an opportunity to test the atmospheric bridge hypothesis,
which simply speaking, is continents sneezing on each other, Smith explained, telling
Seeker that he and his fellow researchers plan to use an instrument called a cascade
sampler to collect samples from high altitudes. The cascade sampler allows air to pass through
increasingly finer impact plates designed to trap out dust and small particles, which
can then be studied later.
Smith said that his team hopes to find microorganisms persisting and surviving, as it is rather
unlikely that they are growing or dividing due to the extremely cold and arid conditions
at such a high altitude. Scientists have never previously measured how long microbial lifeforms
are able to remain alive in the stratosphere, he added, calling that work that still
needs to be done.
Should they actually discover microbial life lingering, or even growing and dividing, at
such high altitudes, it could have an impact on the search for life on other planets as
well, including Venus. Earth and Venus similar for a period of three billion years, noted
NASA astrobiologist Dr. Lynn Rothschild, a member of Smiths team. Experts have discovered
an unusual entity in the atmosphere of Venus that blocks ultraviolet light, and living
organisms have not been ruled out as a possibility.
