Waching daily Jan 30 2017

- Not everyone is going to get along

and disputes can happen over petty things.

But sometimes those petty disputes

turn into violent murders.

- Say hello to my little friend.

(explosion)

- On occasion people can get on

each other's nerves over silly things.

And while those things can be completely trivial,

those same arguments can turn the calmest person

into a cold blooded murderer.

Today we'll be looking at the strangest cases

of people who murdered someone

else over the weirdest reason.

These are the 10 most bizarre motives for murder.

Number one are concert tickets.

When people say that they'd kill to see their

favorite artist in concert, sometimes they aren't kidding.

That's just what happened in March of 2008

when 39 year old Robert Lyons from Chicago, Illinois,

murdered his 61 year old mother Linda in cold blood.

Robert's murderous rage was brought on by

his mother's refusal to buy him expensive seats

at an Avril Lavigne concert.

Yes Robert was so angry about not being

able to see Lavigne's show that he hit his mother

over the head with a bottle of cognac

and then preceded to stab her nine times until she was dead.

But it didn't end there because once she hit the floor,

the deranged man decided to pour household

chemical products all over her body including drain cleaner,

tile cleaner and insecticide.

And afterwards, Robert calmly drove to a bookstore,

bought a book and then drove around for hours

until he finally confessed to police.

Soon after he was arrested at a nearby Hooters Restaurant

and was later sentenced to

40 years in prison for the murder.

Number two is being in the Matrix.

In July of 2002, 48 year old Tonda Lynn Ansley

of Hamilton, Ohio, killed her landlord

by shooting her in the head multiple times.

The reason Ansley believed that

she was living in a fantasy world.

She believed that was being brainwashed

by not only her landlord but three other people

that she knew, all of whom were not real human beings

but instead computer programs.

That's right, Tonda was convinced that she

was actually in the Matrix.

When questioned, she said that she thought

her experience of killing a woman was just

a computer simulation created by sentient robots.

Unbelievably Tonda was not found guilty

of the gruesome murder by reason of insanity

and went to an institution instead of prison.

But shockingly she was not alone in using this defense.

In fact, several other murderers have used

what is now referred to as The Matrix Defense

in court over the years to try

to get away with their crimes.

Number three is TV remote.

While some people think that they're in a fantasy world,

others are sound of mind when it

comes to the decisions that they make.

In February of 2011, 13 year old Alexander Zajac

from Russia got into a heated argument

with his 17 year old sister Juliana.

Like typical siblings, the pair were arguing

over the possession of the television remote

and ultimately which program that they were going to watch.

However the argument took an unexpected

and deadly turn when a frustrated Alexander

stormed off only to return with his hunting rifle.

In a disturbing and sudden turn of events,

Alexander shot his sister square in the face

at super close range, killing her instantly.

Though he admitted that he had done the crime,

police could do very little as he could

not be charged for the murder due to his young age.

Number four are speed bumps.

In June of 2010, 48 year old Fairfax County, Virginia

resident Steven Carr had been pleading with the local

government to deal with cars that had

been racing down his road far too fast.

He finally got them to install

a speed bump near his house,

and while many of his neighbors seemed to support the move,

one neighbor in particular was greatly annoyed.

That neighbor was 44 year old David Patton

who violently confronted Carr about it

one morning in his own front yard.

Patton was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault

for the confrontation.

But soon after being released to await his trial date,

Patton decided to go back and break into

Carr's house to get revenge.

He tied up Carr and his girlfriend at gunpoint

and when Carr tried to escape the ties,

he shot him killing him instantly.

Carr's roommate arrived home to witness the situation

and was able to distract Patton long enough

that both he and Carr's girlfriend

were miraculously able to escape.

Patton was again arrested and charged,

this time with second degree murder,

all over a speed bump.

Number five is being teased.

On October 3rd, 2012, 16 year old Shaquira Dorsey

was beaten to death by a fellow 16 year old

female classmate while outside their apartment complex

in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

The deadly brawl was caused when Dorsey apparently

teased the other girl for simply passing gas

and was soon after physically attacked over the jokes.

Disgustingly a number of people stood by

and watched the fight happen, many of them adults.

One of them was Dorsey's own stepfather

who waited until she had taken quite a few punches

before finally stepping in and breaking up the fight.

Witnesses say that Dorsey stood up and walked around

dizzily around the lawn before eventually passing out

and landing on the grass where she soon died.

The other girl, who's name is protected

because of her young age, was charged with manslaughter.

Number six is a free breakfast.

On October 23rd, 2010, 15 year old Joshua Davies

convinced his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Ailward

to meet him in the woods just outside

their village in Wales.

The two had broken up after dating just three months.

But since Josh was academically gifted and a church goer,

both Rebecca and her mother Sonia were ecstatic

about the idea of the two getting back together.

However, once Rebecca arrived at the spot

where they were supposed to meet,

Josh approached her from behind

and bashed her skull in with a rock.

But what's truly disturbing is that several days

before the murder, Josh fantasized with his friends

about killing her and actually asked what they would do

if he actually went through with it.

His friend jokily replied that he would

buy Josh breakfast if he did it.

It was discovered on Josh's phone just two days

before the murder that he texted that friend,

you may just owe me a breakfast.

After going through with the murder,

he later preceded to give his friends chilling details

of his actions afterwards and even showed them the body,

making sure to tell his friend

that he wanted his free breakfast.

He was ultimately found guilty of the murder

and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Number seven is texting in a theater.

If you've been to a movie theater,

you've likely seen the ads to turn your cell phone off

because it can be distracting to other people.

How distracting?

Well someone figured enough to kill over.

On January 13th, 2014, 43 year old Chad Olson

was sitting in a theater in Wesley Chapel, Florida,

watching the movie Lone Survivor with his wife.

Periodically during the preview screening,

he pulled out his phone to text

his three year old daughter who was at home.

However, seated behind him was 71 year old retired

Tampa police captain, Curtis Reeves, Jr.,

who quickly became annoyed by the light

from the cell phone that Olson was using.

Now originally he had politely asked Olson if he could stop,

but when Olson refused claiming that they were

only the previews, an argument broke out.

Olson then became aggressive throwing

popcorn at Reeves while yelling.

That is when Reeves pulled out his gun

and shot Olson in the chest, killing him instantly

and wounding his wife in the hand.

Although he murdered a man for texting,

Reeves claimed to the police that the shot

was fired in self-defense.

Number eight is unfriended on Facebook.

On January 31st, 2012, in Mountain City, Tennessee,

23 year old Billy Jean Hayworth

and 36 year old Billy Clay Payne were murdered in cold blood

all because they unfriended someone on Facebook.

That someone was 30 year old Janelle Potter,

who after moving to the city in 2005,

had a lot of trouble making friends.

Now Janelle had numerous health problems

which caused her to spend most of her time in her

parent's house relying on social media for friendships.

But one day after a disagreement online,

Billy Clay and Billy Jean sent Janelle angry messages

and even unfriended her from Facebook.

That's when Janelle's father Marvin

and her boyfriend Jamie hunted down Hayworth and Payne,

shooting them both.

But the circumstances get even more disturbing

as it turns out that Janelle had used

fake Facebook accounts to bully herself online

and even coaxed her loved ones

into committing those murders.

Her and her family where charged with first degree murder

and sentenced to life in prison.

Number nine are Mondays.

Many people hate Mondays, but one person let it

get the best of them.

It was a relatively normal day in San Diego, California,

on Monday January 29th, 1979.

That is of course until 16 year old Brenda Spencer

started shooting at kids outside

Cleveland Elementary School.

The school happened to be right

across the street from her house,

so she decided to grab her semi-automatic Ruger rifle,

starting by killing the school's principal and custodian,

she moved into classrooms injuring eight children

and a police officer.

She then holed up in her house, talking to a journalist

over the phone before eventually surrendering to police.

When the reporter asked her why she would do such

a horrible thing, she chillingly told them simply,

I don't like Mondays.

Spencer was tried as an adult

and was convicted of two counts of murder

and assault with a deadly weapon.

Today, she is still serving her indefinite life sentence.

And number ten is celebrity obsession.

Born on May 29th, 1955, John Hinckley, Jr.

quickly developed a love for Hollywood star Jody Foster

after he saw one of her earliest movies,

the 1976 Scorsese crime drama Taxi Driver.

Hinckley's unnatural obsession led him to stalk the actress

and repeatedly attempted to make contact.

However having no luck doing that,

he decided the only way to meet her

was to become famous as well.

And to him there was no better way to become famous

than becoming infamous.

On March 30th, 1981, Hinckley decided that he

would accomplish this by taking a revolver

to the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC

and attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan.

As the American president was leaving a conference there,

Hinckley fired six times.

But he only managed to injure Reagan along

with a police officer and a secret service agent,

who he ended up killing was press secretary James Brady.

After the shooting, Hinckley was arrested

but was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

He was confined to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital

in Washington DC but was released on September 10th, 2016

to his elderly mother's care.

So those were the 10 most bizarre motives for murder.

But as always, I want to know from you,

do you know of another bizarre murder that happened

that deserves to be on this list?

Leave your response below because I'll be reading through

them and I'll pin the best comment to the top.

Thank you so much for coming by today.

If you enjoyed this, make sure you hit that like button

and remember to come back tomorrow at exactly three pm

Eastern Standard Time because

I'll have a brand new video for you.

See you then.

Cosmic Convergence 2012 and Beyond.

There are no more options for the NWO ruling cabal!

Hear ye!

Hear ye!

Starting the hot phase of World War III, Triggering a worldwide Stock Market Collapse,

Engineering the Second Great Depression, Staging an Alien Invasion via Operation Blue

Beam, Manufacturing a global Pandemic and Depopulation,

Inducing a series of catastrophic Earth Changes, Geoengineering a Global Warming Extinction

Level Event Steering an Asteroid into Russia, etc., etc.,

etc., None of these harebrained schemes will work

anymore for the Illuminati and their omnipresent Axis

of Evil.

Just as Pizzagate is catching up with the U.S. Establishment, Pedogate will catch

up with the World Shadow Government

The Millennium Report

It ought to be clear to every resident of Planet Earth that the New World Order ruling

cabal has been thrown into complete disarray.

That the Illuminati plot to install an overt One World Government is in absolute chaos.

That their multi-century agenda to foist a state-sponsored One World Religion on humankind

has been thwarted.

And that their many conspiratorial plots to depopulate the world have failed dismally.

The bottom line is that those who populate the peak of the pinnacle of the planetary

power pyramid are clueless about how to proceed given the following state of affairs:

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be goaded into a World War III scenarioPeriod!

When the deployment of just one EMP can knock out grid USA, really what would even nuclear

war look like without a functioning electrical grid.

The Kremlin also has access to Tesla-inspired, scalar-wave weaponry that has not even been

imagined by the Military-Industrial Complex.

The stock market can be forced into a precipitous decline by way of a controlled

demolition similar to 2008; however, this time the guilty financial terrorists and economic

saboteurs will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

In other word, the whole world now knows that all financial crashes and economic collapses

have been meticulously fabricated by the banksters.

The Second Great Depression has been ongoing since 2008 after having been triggered by

the 2000 Dot.com collapse and the 9/11 War on Terror.

Hence, theres no stopping the natural breakdown of the Global Economic & Financial System

(GE&FS).

Certainly the best financial engineers know this, as well as understand their utter impotence

to avert the final blow out.

All of the other End Time events highlighted above ought to be easily seen as practical

impossibilities for the Illuminati to implement, especially at this late date as their Global

Control Matrix literally self destructs in real time.

Controlled Demolition of the Global Economic & Financial System

Now many will quickly protest that there is nothing from stopping the NWO cabal from executing

a total yet perfectly controlled demolition of the Global Economic & Financial System.

And, they are right.

However, if the international banking crime syndicate (aka banksters) tries this little

move one more time, their whole monopoly game goes away forever.

In other words the people throughout the entire planetary civilization will never again permit

them to run their fatally flawed game on them.

After all, the banksters have been outed like never before and now await a fate similar

to the aristocracy during the worst years of the French Revolution.

How so?

The Internet has simply allowed for the dissemination of so much raw truth and hard facts about

the true workings of the GE&FS.

We all now know who they (banksters) are, what they have done in the past, and where

they live now.

We also watch their silly false flag operations flop every other day now.

Some of us actually predict their nefarious deeds before they carry them out.

Who is not familiar with the wreck and ruin wrought on the planet by the Rothschilds and

the Rockefellers?

By Big Pharma and Big Oil?

By Monsanto and Halliburton?

They are all known by their actions and can no longer hide, especially with so many interlocking

directorships which mutually incriminate them all.

With so much extremely damning evidence uploaded to the Internet since 1995, the folks who

own and operate the GE&FS are all exposed like never before in history.

Should they attempt to take down the GE&FS to their benefit yet, again, they will be

hunted down and hung from the nearest treefor real.

The people want justice like never before.

When their pension plans, IRAs, Keoughs and other retirement accounts have been guttedlook

out!

The current state of the economy, both national and global, is such that everyones thinking

about when the other shoe will drop.

In their fear and apprehension about what the future may bring, many common folk are

researching and investigating like theres no tomorrow.

Thats because on some level they know that there may not be a tomorrow.

The product of their sleuthing has put the banksters in their crosshairs.

Who doesnt know that behind the banksters stands many more clandestine operators who

are even more culpable of enslaving and harming humanity?

That covert, ubiquitous network is known as Deep State.

The Internet

More than any other thing in recorded human history, the Internet has created a much more

level playing field.

Of course, this is anathema to the Illuminati as they have always been on top and will never

tolerate anything but a tilted playing field.

In this fashion, they are always playing with our money and our time and our energy and

our real estate and our gold and other valuable assets.

Were the cabals financial engineers and economic architects to carry out a controlled

demolition, they would guarantee themselves a lifelong cell at Guantanamo.

Yes, things have really changed that much; its just that most dont know it yet.

Which is why this piece is being written before the critical Inauguration Day of Donald Trump.

More than any other monumental event of 2016, the election of Donald Trump illustrates just

how much things have really changed.

Even BREXIT pales in comparison to The Donalds improbable victory.

Therefore, the writing is on the wall which clearly messages the ruling elites that their

game of greed and money and power is overforever!

Should they deign to be so stupid as to pull the plug on the GE&FS, forces will step in

to short-circuit their nefarious plans and maintain order.

More significantly, such a convicting pretext will have been presented to frogmarch the

perps out of their alpine hideaways and seaside villas and into the nearest prison cell.

It will again be the Internet that will empower the inhabitants of Earth to police the planet

so that the banksters never set foot in a bank again.

Just as a global citizens investigation has been underway regarding the Washington, D.C.

Pizzagate and global Pedogate scandals, people power is emerging in ways and places never

seen before.

The Pizzagate revelations, which are coming out fast and furiously because of the power

and pervasiveness of the Internet, is creating a very conducive environment for the powerless

to take back their power.

Pedogate has likewise created an international forum for victims everywhere to speak their

truth to power like never before.

Truly, Pizzagate / Pedogate will provide the lynchpin for the malevolent global power structure.

The Illuminati, the Neocons, the Zionists and Alien-Human Hybrid Controllers

The ultimate disposition of this criminally insane cabal of psychopaths is the only remaining

challenge for the global village to meet straightaway.

Where will the world be safe with the likes of these entities still on the loose?

Who would volunteer to house such a dangerous group of genocidal murderers, incorrigible

kleptomaniacs, war-profiteering warmongers, and serial producers of chaos and pandemonium?

This difficult question, then, is one that must be answered decisively and swiftly.

Many commentators have spoken of a negotiated truce with these monsters, as though the planet

is big enough for them and us to peacefully co-exist.

No, not quite!

In any event, now that they have no place to go once they have been stripped of their

ill-gotten gains and misappropriated wealth, their influence and power over the affairs

of men will be greatly diminished.

Nonetheless, the wheels of justice must be allowed to turn so that their billions of

victims can rest safely and soundly.

Perhaps an off-planet penitentiary can be found that is within the legendary waterless

region.

Actually, they will probably find a way to wreck that realm as well.

Special Note: The critical point of this article is that

TPTB (those who run the Deep State) cannot crash the economy like they have always done,

timed according to the Shemitah calendar.

If they are so reckless and ignorant as to try to sabotage President Trumps term in

office via a coordinated collapse, then they, too, will lose everything.

And, they will never get it back.

Once the financial institutions are destroyed and economic systems devastated, they, too,

will lose their age-old power and influence.

The United States will be compelled to consider a whole new paradigm, specifically one that

is free from the endemic corporate corruption and easily manipulated institutional arrangements.

The banksters should be refused participation and prosecuted for their endless financial

terrorism and economic devastation of nations large and small.

Then, there will be no place for economic hitmen and financial terrorists who are employed

by TPTB to take down countries rich and poor.

Conclusion

Ding Dong!

The Witch is dead.

With the ignominious defeat of Hillary Clinton, the Trump and BREXIT movements will grow into

a worldwide phenomenon as the globalists are forced to retreat everywhere.

As a healthy brand of nationalism spreads to the four corners of the planet, the sheer

power and momentum may be enough to keep the cabal in check until they are dealt with appropriately.

Perhaps the best thing that a President Trump can do as of his first day in office is to

shut down the treasonous Mainstream Media.

He must also remove the numerous traitors from Congress and intelligence agencies, as

well as from the many other departments which comprise the U.S. Federal Government.

MAINSTREAM MEDIA: The True Enemy Of The People

The sooner that Trump takes these initiatives, the sooner the American people can take back

their government.

As an unrivaled change agent, his work will be largely dedicated to tearing down the highly

offensive Obamanation.

In that capacity Trump ought to bring his wrecking ball everywhere he goes until the

Obamanation has sufficiently fallen into its own footprint, so that the American Republic

can be rebuilt in the image of the Founding Fathers.

Every good builder knows that the better the demolition, the better the foundation for

the new edifice to be built upon.

With this crucial understanding, the first thing to go must be the present incarnation

of the GE&FS.

For the world has been transformed into a financial prison as it has an economic jailhouse

for most of humanity.

May the patriotic nationalists of the world rise up quickly to consolidate the gains that

have been thus far been made.

Only through a concerted effort will a complete emancipation from these warlords and wardens

be possible.

Deep State must be dismantled so that the New World Order can be terminated, once and

for all.

Were the people of good conscience to coalesce around the same Earth rehab plan, the serial

obstructionists wouldnt have a chance to sow their seeds of discontent.

Why is it that the bad guys are always working together more efficiently than the good guys?

One would think that a righteous cause like saving Planet Earth would galvanize a movement

like no other in modern history.

Food for Your Family (Webinar) - Duration: 26:32.

KAITLIN HENNESSY: Hello, everyone

and welcome to access food for your family.

My name is Kaitlin Hennessy.

I'm the program coordinator here at the Global Campus,

Global Connections.

This evening, we have Lauren Butler

from the Office of the Dean of Students

here with us to talk about food insecurity

and where you can get resources if you are food insecure.

And tonight, please feel free to use the chat box.

To ask questions or if you have

any technical difficulties, please let us

know, and we'll do the best to help you.

We also have Olivia in the chat box.

And she's also here to help and help guide your questions.

All right.

I am going to turn it over to Lauren.

And we'll see you soon.

LAUREN BUTLER: OK.

Hi.

Thanks for joining me this evening.

My name is Lauren.

And as Kaitlin mentioned, I'm here

to talk about food insecurities and share

some statistics, some information, and gain awareness

on the topic.

So let's dive in.

What is food insecurity?

There's no line that states whether you are or not.

Government obviously has criteria.

But it really means being without reliable access

to sufficient food, those nutrients that your body needs

to function during the day.

Not having that nutrients affects your sleep.

It affects your mind, all kinds of things.

So it's very important.

And it's very prevalent.

As you can see, 42 million Americans currently live

in food insecure situations, with 13 million

of those being children and about five million are elderly.

Food insecurity exists in every country

and congressional district in the country.

Not everyone struggling with hunger

qualifies for federal assistance.

So I'm going to share a couple of options that might benefit

you or someone you know.

Since this is a WSU production, I'm going to talk about college

statistics as well, since most of you are probably a college

student at some point in your educational . career.

This is a study done by three individuals who

are all on nonprofit organization boards

that deal with food insecurities.

So their study was over a three month span

with thousands of students, 32 different institutions

in 12 states.

And they found that 48% of those students

interviewed reported insecurities at some point

in that three months, which is a lot of students.

Being a student is hard.

It's expensive.

You have to pay tuition and fees and books,

as well as mortgages or rent or other bills and utilities.

And that doesn't leave a whole lot leftover.

So being able to afford food as a student can be incredibly

difficult. 22% of those students who they spoke with also

reported very high insecurities, which

meant that they didn't have food for more than a day or so

at a time.

This was both two-year and four-year students.

And they noted that the information was relatively

similar between the two.

So no matter if you are at a community college

or at a university level, food insecurity occurs at both.

They also noted that students of color and first generation

students reported higher prevalence.

So there is kind of people who are more prone to having

these types of situations.

And hopefully, I have some people

who are going to be watching this that will benefit

from the information provided.

So now I'm going to show you some websites

that I found to be really, really helpful

and hopefully will help you as well.

So bear with me a moment while I switch over

to sharing my screen.

OK.

So this is the Feeding America website.

And this is a huge organization nationwide.

There are Feeding America locations

all across the country, in every state.

So I'm going to quickly do a search, a zip code,

and show you how to find resources in your area.

So Finding a Food Bank, so here is where you

type in a zip code or a state.

And all of these green little pinpoints

are locations that Feeding America has

a large distribution center.

As you can see, there's quite a few.

So I'm going to type in a somewhat local zip code.

OK.

So it says the closest Feeding America bank is in Oregon,

so over in Portland.

And this is a Vancouver, Washington zip code.

But it also shows all the distribution organizations.

So these are all different locations

throughout the state that provide food and necessities

to individuals in those regions.

So that's a good way to find things

that are throughout your state that

are associated with Feeding America, which

is a really great organization.

But that doesn't necessarily show you all of them.

That's only what Feeding America is associated with.

There are tons of other opportunities out there.

So let's take a look at foodpantries.org.

Again, this is another search engine

that you can use to find resources in your area.

And I know that we have students all across the states.

So you could go in and find out what's local in your area.

I'm going to select Washington.

And then it brings up different cities in Washington

that have food banks registered with this foodpantry.org.

So let's see if we can get Mount Vernon.

Let's pick that one.

And you scroll down.

And then it will show you there are two in that area.

And it gives you the contact information

for those locations.

And you can go to their individual websites.

And then you can go and visit those locations

and hopefully be able get some resources.

So that's a second way that will show you two different options.

They're not going to use same resources

on each of those sites.

So Feeding America and foodpantries.org.

The third I wanted to talk about is the Salvation Army.

Now, they do a lot more than just food and food banks

and resources and that.

But it's also a really good resource to have.

So I'm actually going to type in Pullman for WSU Pullman

and see what we can come up with.

And so it says that we have two Salvation Army locations

in Moscow and then two more that offer

services down in Lewiston, which is about 45 minutes away.

So this can give you a couple more options to get resources.

And maybe you need more than just a food bank

or if you have resources that the Salvation Army

can help you with.

I found that to be a really good source for individuals.

Now, not each generalized search is

going to bring up all of the resources that are available.

There are faith-based organizations.

There are community-based organizations.

There are organizations through school districts

that can be beneficial to you.

This is one, in particular, and that is here,

local in Pullman, Washington.

It's called the Community Action Center.

They do, as you can see, housing help.

They do food and nutrition, support services.

So that's something local here that you might not

find on one of those generalized search engines.

OK.

And now I'll go back to my file.

And then at the bottom, I just listed all the food

bank photos that came up, just to show you

that there are opportunities for food assistance

all across the nation.

So the next thing I want to talk about is government assistance.

And that is something that's really common.

People apply for government assistance

on a very regular basis.

And two of the programs I want to speak to you about tonight

are SNAP, which is a Supplemental Nutrition

Assistance Program and WIC, which

is for women and children.

And I'm going to go back to my internet,

and share my application with you.

OK.

So this is the SNAP website.

Very basic.

It's government assistance.

So it's the general US government site.

Each state kind of administers fees, programs on their own.

So the application process is going

to look different for each state, which can be tricky,

especially if you're moving or if you're been in another state

and you don't know the new processes.

So I'm going to show you where to go.

So Learn How to Apply for Benefits will be really good.

It brings up every state, so whatever state

that you are in currently.

I'm just going to pick a random state-- Montana.

It will bring up Montana's website.

So this is the website that you're

going to create an account and make the application

process through.

You don't do it through the US site.

You do it through individual states.

And those states have phone numbers

that you can call for assistance if you need help finishing

the application or if you have a question on what information

is needed to be provided.

Typically it's things-- any income, or if you're in school

or if you have dependents or kind of what

your financial situation might be

are going to be the questions that they will ask you.

Again, it's going to be different for each state.

Similarly to SNAP program, WIC also state-based.

So am I eligible for WIC benefits?

I don't know.

Let's find out.

There is a specific tool that you can use.

If you click that, it will go through a set of questions

that it asks.

And then based on what you answer, it will notify you

if they think that this assistance program would

be beneficial to you or not, which

is nice to kind of go through that first

before we go through the full application process

through the state and then find out you're

not actually eligible.

So who gets WIC and how to apply?

Just like SNAP, you go through this, find your state,

apply through there.

An important piece to note is if you move,

one of the things that I've read on both of these sites

is that moving to a different state

has become kind of a challenge for people.

So make sure that when you move, you inform the program

that you're associated with.

And they do have offices in each state.

So whether you're close to that specific office or not,

depends on your specific location in your state

and how they run it.

But they should have an office assistant as well.

Now we're going to talk about feeding our children.

They're the most important part of our lives, right?

Kids are our future.

And we want the best for them and the most nutritional

benefit that is possible.

Obviously WIC and SNAP are both going to benefit you

and your family and your children.

But there are other programs out there

that can also assist them.

I'm sure you're well aware that school districts have

free and reduced lunch programs in almost

every single district.

And that's great for the school year.

But it gets even harder when summer starts.

So it's a little tricky finding information on summer meals.

When I was doing my searches and research on this topic,

there wasn't a defined answer.

It all pretty much based on what school district

you're a part of and whether or not that

school district has a partnership

with an organization that provides that food.

A lot of them do.

So I do suggest talking to your school district

if that's something that is interested in your family

dynamics.

The two links listed-- Parenthelp 123

is to get some knowledge on what's available.

K12 Child Nutrition is also a great place

to get some information on those topics.

But there isn't any registration process through them.

So what you would need to do is find an organization

that participates in it.

A lot of them are school districts,

faith-based organizations, summer camps,

YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, those types of organizations.

And if you're in an area and you don't

know where to reach out to, I can definitely

help you in that process.

So don't feel afraid to reach out to me.

At the end is my contact information.

So we definitely want to be able to help

feed our children as well.

Alternate nutrition sources.

Some communities and farming organizations

offer work-trade for food.

That means you go to the farm a designated amount of hours

a month and work on the farm and harvest

and assist them in that process.

And in turn, you are given fresh local produce,

which is a great trade.

It gives you an opportunity to have some truly nutritious

meals and work with some different ingredients

that you may not get to otherwise.

There are different share options in different regions.

Obviously if you are in a rural area, there's more farming.

That's an opportunity for you.

But another benefit to that is available for getting

fresh local ingredients.

So you can get fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, meat, eggs,

and other items.

I got this off of the Moscow, Idaho farmer's market website.

A lot of farmer's markets are now

accepting SNAP or EBT as payment,

which is really, really cool.

A lot of times I have heard people

with those kinds of benefits have a hard time

finding the right things to purchase at the markets

or at the grocery stores.

So this gives you an opportunity to purchase those foods

that you really desire.

I know the Seattle farmer's market participates and so does

Portland farmer's market, which is Seattle, Washington

and Portland, Oregon.

They are slightly different in their processes.

But essentially, you take your card

that you're issued to a kiosk or to a table that's designated.

And they will, in turn, give your farmer's dollars.

Or I think the Portland farmer's market gives wooden coins.

So you can use that as payment.

And they also-- I know Portland does this,

I don't know about the others-- they will double it.

So if you give $10 of your SNAP money,

they will give you $20 worth of coins.

So that's an opportunity to get even more fresh

produce than you probably thought you were eligible for,

which is really, really neat.

So those are some things to look into that your markets might

be involved in and just an alternative to nutritious food.

Holiday programs.

We are coming up on the holidays,

which is a very joyous time.

You get to spend time with family and friends

and enjoy food.

But that can be a really, really hard time

for families who are dealing with these kinds of food

insecurities.

Food banks and organizations participate

in holiday meal baskets.

Most of the ones that are listed are

going to be participating in these types of things.

And some of the programs you need registration for.

But most of them are as-needed basis.

I was reading on a specific food pantry

in Vancouver, Washington.

I use that example a lot.

That's my hometown.

And there's no registration needed.

Most of the food banks will have some kind

of flyers posted or information posted on their websites.

And you can access that through either Feeding America

or the other websites that I have suggested.

Some other programs, are again, through faith-based or school

districts that also participate in those.

So with those, it's more on your behalf

to have to reach out and find.

But there are tons and tons of opportunities

to get meals for your holidays.

So do not feel like that's something

that's not available to you.

We are coming close to the end of my presentation.

And I want to open this up to any viewers

out there who have questions for me.

That is a good question.

Opening up the conversation is really difficult.

I deal with that with the students here quite often.

And usually, they come to me with a different issue.

So they don't usually come saying I can't afford food.

They usually come saying, I'm strapped financially.

Or my academics are struggling.

Or I'm really stressed.

And I always kind of make it a point if we're

having a conversation that I ask them,

I know that this is really hard.

But how is this doing?

So I ask them kind of after our conversation has already

started.

It's much easier to go in and talk about that.

We have various food banks on campus here.

And I always try and give them the room numbers

and figure out which one that they'd

be most comfortable visiting.

So each kind of have different cultures

and different dynamics.

And maybe then if you know somebody who is struggling,

it would be beneficial for you to go with them.

That way, you don't actually have to bring up a hard topic.

But you know that they need that assistance.

So that might be helpful.

Yes.

They've had food banks on campus for quite some time.

I personally only knew of one when I was a student

and probably we should have utilized it

as a poor college student.

But I didn't.

But I believe there are five now.

And they're all in different departments.

They're open to anybody though.

But yes, please, please pass this around to anyone

you know on campus.

The Dean of Students office is welcome to show them

where these opportunities are and help them find

the right resource for them.

There is one in Wilson- Short, yes and TRIO.

TRIO is an absolutely great, great resource.

OK.

So the question is how do you approach

a student who doesn't think they're

struggling because they have money to pay

for school and textbooks?

That was me.

That was definitely me.

I worked really, really hard to be

able to pay for everything myself.

And I paid tuition, books, rent, all of that,

which left little to nothing.

And it was hard.

And I didn't think I needed help.

I didn't think that it was necessary

for me to use those resources because I

knew other people needed them more than I did.

But that's not the mentality that needs to be going around.

The mentality needs do be that these places are

open to everybody, regardless of your availability

to financial income.

It's a hard conversation to have.

And it is kind of [INAUDIBLE] because you

know that you have money.

But you know that that's for something else.

Yes, and reminding them that they do deserve to have food.

And they do deserve to have full bellies.

And that's the only way that they're going

to get great sleep, great mental capacity,

be able to learn and thrive in this environment.

Any last questions?

KAITLIN HENNESSY: All right.

As we're waiting for those last questions to come in,

I'm going to jump in and let everyone

know that our next Global Connections

event will be on December 1.

And it will be on launch your career professionally,

regarding professionalism in the workplace

as you do enter into your careers after college.

And that information will be available

at connections.wsu.edu.

Additionally, we're going to put in a link to a program survey.

So if you can share your thoughts on tonight's program,

we would really appreciate it as we

look to bring more informative webinars

and live streams to global students.

So if you're a global student, let

us know what you would like to see.

Other than that, everyone, have a good night tonight.

And we have one other question that just popped up.

So I will turn it back over to Lauren.

LAUREN BUTLER: OK.

The last question is, is there a place

we can find a list of all the food pantries on campus?

There currently is not.

That is something that I should probably bring up

in the Dean of Students office.

That would be a good resource for us to have on our website.

Since they're each run by different organizations,

they each of them posted on their websites.

But I think it would be very beneficial

if I compiled them and had them all in one place.

So that was a great question.

And I will definitely bring that up

to the Dean of Students office.

And here on the screen is the contact information

if you need to reach me or if you

have other questions that we can help answer for you.

We'd love to do that.

And as Kaitlin mentioned, there is a quick survey for you

to please take and let me know how I did.

And hopefully I will be able to do another presentation for you

in the future.

I hope you all have a great night.

Thank you for joining.

Russian Military Keep Playgrounds Safe for Aleppo Children - Duration: 4:52.

On New Year's Eve, everyone around the world was talking about the Syrian city of Aleppo.

It seemed that the leaders of the EU countries did not have anything else to worry about

than to hypocritically worry about the hardships local residents experienced thanks to Bashar Al-Assad,

saying that we did not need to do anything but leave everything as it was.

And this was during a time when half of the remaining population of Aleppo,

more than 100 thousand people, with the elderly, women and children,

were literally held hostage by terrorists.

They were tortured, murdered, and starved.

And now the long-awaited liberation of the entire city has been achieved

by Syrian army forces and militias supported by Russia.

The West immediately started predicting that it would be worse.

They said that the events would be followed by massacres, ethnic and religious clashes.

Pretty much, nothing good.

Then, Russia's President Putin, decisively,

with a good understanding of the East, came up with a solution.

To send a unit of Chechens to Aleppo to restore order.

So it was done.

This unit was a military police battalion from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Of course, there are Russians in the unit, but most of the policemen are Chechens.

They are of the same religion as the residents of Aleppo.

They understand local traditions and motifs better.

A Chechen mufti personally went to Syria in order to strengthen the spirit of his fellows.

Putin personally said goodbye to everyone.

The battalion understood the situation quickly.

It established an orderly regime of control in the city,

it assumed the responsibilities previously carried out by army combat engineers from Russia.

As a result, it is quiet in Aleppo.

So quiet that the West has lost interest in this city.

Now, there is not a word spoken about Aleppo.

We are ready to tell our viewers how it is in Aleppo now, after the nightmare the city went through.

Report by Alexei Baranov.

These teens from Aleppo have acquired a sense of security after the liberation of the city from militants.

Let's play!

It's the Russian national team against the team from Syria.

During short breaks, members of the military police from the Ministry of Defense of Russia

respond to children's offers to play football.

Right on the street.

We carry out peacekeeping functions,

we show that Russia is actually helping these brotherly people.

We have Russians, Dagestani, Belarusians, Buryats.

We have many nationalities, different religions, Islam, Buddhism, Christianity.

And we, I tell you honestly,

we do not have this division saying that this one is Russian and this one is Belarusian.

We have a united battalion.

Specifically, this unit is not performing a combat mission, but a peaceful one.

It is distributing Russian humanitarian aid

to the eastern Aleppo districts that suffered the most under the militants.

Today, I am proud because this mission was given to me and my subordinates.

As Chechens, as Russian representatives, we are providing friendly assistance to the Syrian Arab Republic.

Go, go, go, faster!

This trip takes place on a rare day, a day that is free of combat duties.

The route goes through destroyed neighborhoods into the ancient part of the city,

the thousand-year-old Citadel of Aleppo.

Even here, being photographed with sincerely thankful Syrians,

the Russian military do not forget their main task.

We are carrying out the mission set by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.

And we will fulfill it. No matter what.

We took an oath, and we will finish the job.

Locals say that it was possible to restore peace thanks to Russia's initiative.

An irreversible process is taking place after the talks in Astana.

That is, the city of Aleppo, in which we are, is returning to a more peaceful life.

This military police unit from the Russian Ministry of Defense is off

to other liberated areas of Aleppo with the next portion of humanitarian aid.

This is your work. Is it hard and is it important to you?

I think it is important

because we are helping people.

Is it hard?

I do not see anything difficult as long as you have the desire, and as long as you learn

and try your best.

And, of course, this is not a tour.

In the surrounding area is not a tourist site, but a military facility: the Citadel of Aleppo.

Security during the distribution of humanitarian aid is provided

by military police units from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Alexei Baranov, Alexander Malyshev, and Nikita Korunov.

Merkel won't be Able to Use Others to Pull Her Chestnuts out of Fire - Duration: 9:04.

It's clear that any of the US President's step or initiative

today's Europe also tries on for size.

For example, the attitude towards illegal migrants and the wall with Mexico

as a symbol of Trump's rejection of uninvited guests.

Or recovery of production within the borders of the national state.

Or the refusal to support coups in foreign countries.

Eagerness to build rational relations with Russia.

It is clear that all this is very painful for the European Union

because it gets to either keep its old priorities, but alone, without the US,

or radically change them, turning 180 degrees.

Especially Angela Merkel, German Chancellor who's up for re-election in autumn

for her fourth term, is particularly in a real mess.

All would seem okay, but with the election of Trump, coincidentally,

I personally have the feeling that Merkel suddenly got old.

No, don't get me wrong, I am far from touching upon this deeply feminine subject

and discussing her wrinkles, hair, her clothes colors and unchangeable cut of the trouser suit.

I just feel that Merkel has become out of fashion.

As they say in French, démodée.

Political fashion.

In this sense, she got old, even more precisely, outmoded,

representing the past of Germany and Europe, rather than their future.

I have been cultivating this feeling about Merkel for a long time,

but now, everything has suddenly become clear.

It seems that she did everything she could, and, in the end, she naturally appeared to be in a standstill.

Speaking at the beginning of the week, she recognized that a new era was coming.

I think that after a quarter-century of German unity,

one historic period is being changed by another one.

After 1990, after the end of the Cold War,

we thought it was a victorious march of freedom,

and it is only a question when it comes to the most remote parts of the world.

And something that we could not imagine in Europe suddenly happened.

As a result, I'm standing in front of you in united Germany.

In the old era,

Merkel filled Germany and the European Union

with immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East.

In one year, she spent more than 20 billion euros on them.

Now she's at a dead end,

because neither Germany nor the European Union can continue down the same path.

But migrants are not the main thing.

The main thing Angela Merkel is blamed for is that she destroyed the policy

of her outstanding predecessors that allowed,

on the one hand, Germany to become united,

and, on the other hand, to build the European Union in a peaceful environment.

This line, the foundations of which was laid by Chancellor Willy Brandt at the late 60's,

was called Ostpolitik of Germany.

Its meaning was a friendly relationship with Moscow based on the change through a rapprochement.

Apart from Brandt, Ostpolitik was developed and implemented by such strong supporters

of firm state authority of Germany as Egon Bahr, Helmut Kohl, and Gerhard Schroeder.

They knew that without Russia's favor it was impossible to build neither united Germany, nor united Europe.

When united Germany became a fact, and the European Union was on the rise,

Merkel ungratefully turned away from Russia.

Moreover, in the alliance with the United States, she started the policy which was hostile to Moscow.

If you look closer at the actions of Merkel,

the old German thesis of the lack of living space is easily recognizable.

We know it well from Hitler,

but, in fact, the lack of living space was discussed in Germany even before World War I.

Central Europe was considered a resource to fill the "lack".

The term Mitteleuropa, which means Middle Europe,

was born in the German political theories more than a hundred years ago.

The idea was developed by political philosopher Friedrich Naumann.

I'm not going to talk long about him.

Shortly speaking, the meaning of this old German game was reduced to a simple and precise formula

that what was not Russian, should become, so to speak, "Middle European".

And "Middle European" simply meant German.

In fact, Middle Europe will be German.

It will be used for global relations established in the German language.

This is how it was.

Expansion of the German living space pushed the country into World War I and World War II.

Prior to the beginning of the XXI century, Germany somehow coped with its hereditary disease,

but Merkel secretly broke down.

Why secretly?

Because all the time she loudly said the words "democracy", "peace", and "inviolability of frontiers",

but during her term, Germany wanted to literally swallow Ukraine,

which is entirely within the concept of Mitteleuropa and expansion of its living space.

It's the devil's work.

In February 2014, Germany, represented by its Foreign Minister Steinmeier,

issued a written guarantee of a peaceful and early transfer of power from Yanukovych to Maidan.

But in less than a day, it de facto supported the bloody coup in Kiev

in the name of Europe, as they said.

Merkel, as it now appears, was happy:

Ukraine was going to her hands.

She thought it was perfect,

hoping to continue to use others to pull her chestnuts out of the fire.

"Others" because the first violin in the coup in Ukraine was played by the United States.

Angela Merkel was fine with that

also because all moral responsibility for this dirty work was for Americans to bear.

Ukraine seemed to fall into her basket, like a ripe fruit,

and America also said thank you for everything.

Perfect!

What's happening now?

The Moor has done his duty, let him go.

Is it about Barack Obama? No.

This phrase seems to be about Merkel spoken by German romanticist Schiller.

In his story, the new government didn't need the Moor, who helped organize the uprising.

A sad story. Now Merkel becomes unwanted.

And does Germany need such Ukraine from Angela Merkel? No.

Or, at least, is the EU ready to take such Ukraine from Merkel? Also no.

Germany's relationship with Moscow? Worse than ever.

In response to the agreement on the unification of Germany,

there is callous ingratitude and encroachments upon the cradle of the ancient Russian national identity.

How is the European Union ruled by Merkel doing? As bad as never before.

Maybe, everything is fine inside Germany itself?

Let's not speak about sad things.

That is why Merkel looks démodée, out of fashion.

President Trump also nailed her to the wall

by saying that Germany was in NATO for free.

It was agreed to invest at least 2% of GDP on NATO's security,

and Germany did not pay itself and set a bad example to the others.

This is what Trump means.

Let's see the table.

As for military spendings for NATO,

measured in the proportion of GDP,

Germany is modestly hiding in the bottom half of the list of 28 countries,

somewhere after Albania and before Denmark.

16th place!

It is even indecent for Merkel, who speaks so loudly about Russian aggression.

Maybe she is being insincere?

Just to make Americans pay?

This is exactly what Trump means.

If you believe that you are threatened, then you should strengthen the defense.

If not, do not fool the others.

In general, here too Merkel is in a jam,

and because of her so are many other NATO buddies.

A Rose for Emily - Duration: 26:32.

[swing jazz music]

[people cheering]

[car engine idling]

[car engine chugging]

[dog barking]

[male radio announcer]...from honestly facing conditions in our country today.

[squeaking sounds]

[burps]

[squeaking]

(male narrator) We found her in one of the downstairs rooms.

Her head propped up on a pillow,

yellow and moldy with age and lack of sunlight.

She fell ill and died.

An indomitable and weary Southern woman of 74.

[car engine idling]

(Doctor) Help me with her feet, please.

(narrator) Miss Emily Grierson was a legend in our town - -

a disgraced and fallen monument who, people said,

lived too much in the past...

with too many secrets.

(photographer) I need you to be real still now.

(narrator) Alive, we believed the Grierson's held themselves

a little too high for what they really were.

None of the young men

were quite good enough for Miss Emily.

(photographer) That'll be just fine.

Tobe, get the jug.

Oh, good...

Well, Colonel, we got business to do...

before we get too old talkin' it over.

[laughing]

(photographer) Mr. Grierson?

I -I thought perhaps Miss Emily would...

there's a dance next Saturday.

[angrily] She won't attend any dances.

(Mr. Grierson angrily) Grid up and step right outside this house!

[drunkenly] Fire 'em! Fire 'em!

(male) You can't even put up your hands higher than me.

(Emily) It's dead, Daddy.

(Mr. Grierson) Hell-fire... Watch out everyone. Watch out now!

[mumbling incoherently]

(Colonel) ...kept it a secret like it was the war..

(old woman) The Yankees!

Emily! Emily, run! Hide the silver!

Emily! Hide the silver!

(Mr. Grierson) Old and wise. Crazy ole' woman.

They're comin'. Oh, my Lord!

Oh, my. Oh....hide the silver!

[everyone yelling simultaneously]

(Colonel) Come on back here!

(old woman) The Yankees... oh, Lord help us. The Yankees.

(photographer) Miss Emily?

Well, she'll feel more herself tomorrow.

Emily. Help me with my sister.

(narrator) Her Aunt Wyatt went completely crazy at the last

and passed on soon after.

[horse galloping in distance]

You'll have plenty of chances for gettin' a weddin' dress.

[galloping]

[yelling] And I don't want any more of your moods!

[mumbling] Already have trouble enough.

And I don't need any from you!

[chocking/gagging]

Daddy?

[dog barking/birds chirping outside]

[whispering] Daddy?

[barking/chirping]

[quietly] Daddy?

(narrator) The day her daddy died

it got out that the house was all that was left her.

And in a way, people were glad.

Now like the rest of us,

she too would know the old thrill

and the old despair of a penny more or less.

[knocking]

[knocking]

(woman) Miss Emily?

We are so sorry to hear about your poor daddy's death.

(Emily) My father is not dead.

What do you mean?

[piano music]

[knocking]

[knocking harder]

[piano music]

Third day Miss Emily. We have to dispose of the body.

[footsteps clicking]

[flies buzzing]

[eerie music]

(narrator) Even with insanity in the family,

we did not say she was crazy then.

Being left alone and a pauper too.

And what with all the young men her father had driven away,

we knew she would have to cling to that which robbed her,

as people will.

[dramatic music]

[birds chirping]

[people mumbling]

[explosion]

[chandelier rattling/clinking]

[man whistling/men talking]

[knocking at door]

(male) A little closer. Your other left!

Sorry about the trouble and noise.

We're blowin' up stumps for the new sidewalk.

[birds chirping/men talking]

Looks like you're doin' a little barberin'.

[birds chirping]

My name is Barron.

Homer Barron. I'm the foreman.

[birds chirping]

Grierson.

Emily Grierson.

[birds chirping]

I gotta get back.

They get lazy without me.

[men talking/birds chirping]

Here's your razor.

[birds chirping]

[men talking/yelling]

(Barron) Alright, come on now, let's get workin'!

Come on. Get to work!

Really do it!

Miss Emily?

He's the Yankee?

The one they said was pavin' the street?

Yes, Miss Emily.

Oh...

[birds chirping]

[whistling]

(Emily) Mr. Barron?

[birds chirping]

That's my father.

He passed away just recently.

Let's go.

It's nice out.

[birds chirping]

[footsteps clicking]

[bell ringing]

Hang on now. Let's go.

[piano music]

(narrator) Right away, people began whispering,

'cause Miss Emily and the Yankee's imagined conduct

was looked upon as if they were wild beasts

with only a temporary resemblance to civilized human beings.

Everybody loved the gossip.

It was a lively romance

like public accounts of oust and murder...

even when we believed that she was poor.

It was as though she demanded more than ever.

Her recognition of her dignity was the last risk.

[people talking]

[carnival music]

Now thank you, ladies.

Oh, good day, uh...Miss Emily.

I want some poison.

Uh, well, yes, Miss Emily, what kind?

Now for rats and such, I got something...

I want the best you have. I don't care what kind.

Well, strychnine and arsenic would kill anything up to an elephant,

but what you need, I'm sure...

Arsenic.

Is that a good one?

Is arsenic... Well, yes, but, uh...

you don't need something quite that strong.

I want arsenic.

Whatever you want,

but the law says that you gotta say what you're gonna use it for.

[carnival music]

[horse/carriage sounds]

[whispers] Thank you.

Good day.

(narrator) We learned that Miss Emily

had ordered a man's toilet set in silver

with his initials in each piece.

And that she'd bought a complete outfit

of man's clothing, including a nightshirt - -

monogrammed with the initials "HB" in script.

We thought Homer Barron

a willing and unfailingly good-natured sort...

even if an unreliable Yankee.

We were sure that they were to be married.

[people talking/cheering/yelling/laughing]

(male) You ain't married yourself, are ya?

What's that?

I said you ain't married yourself, are ya?

No, I ain't the marrying kind.

[men talking/laughing/cheering]

(male yelling) I'm not the marryin' kind!

[laughing/talking/cheering]

[Emily sighs]

[sighs]

[sighs]

[crickets chirping]

You know what?

I sure miss our buggy rides.

If we had one of our own, well...

Let's see if we can't get ourselves one, huh?

[crickets chirping]

[dramatic music]

[piano music]

[breathing heavily]

[gasps]

[gulps]

[dramatic music]

[breathing heavily]

(narrator) Homer Barron finished laying the sidewalks and deserted.

There was talk that she would kill herself,

and some said it would be the best thing.

Miss Emily had become a tragic focal point - -

now hopelessly and disastrously compromised.

[knocking at door]

[knocking on door]

(woman #1) My word! What is that smell?

(woman #2) Oh, Tobe.

(woman #3) As if a man, any man, could keep a kitchen properly.

(woman #1)Them so high and mighty.

(woman #2) Well, we'll see the Colonel that there'd outta be a law.

(male) I'd be the last person in the world to hurt Miss Emily,

but we really gotta do something, Colonel.

(Colonel) Oh, it's probably just a rat or a snake that Tobe's killed in the yard.

(male) Well, hell, that's simple enough.

Tell her to have it cleaned up

and give her a certain amount of time and if she don't...

Damn it, sir!

Would you accuse a lady to her face of smellin' bad?

(narrator) Miss Emily's house now possessed the town

with a fascinated distate

as the men slunk about like burglars

with sacks of lime to defeat the odor...

and the rumors.

It smells like hog slp.

Well, spread that lime real good and get it all in the corner too.

[crickets chirping/rats squeaking]

[footsteps running away]

[crickets chirping]

[owl hooting]

I've never seen so many rats.

Come on, Gavin, we already got the outbuildings.

[owl hooting/crickets chirping]

I don't think she saw us.

Oh, you leave Miss Emily be.

[crickets chirping/dog barking]

[footsteps crunching/owl hooting]

(narrator) We were not surprised about the smell.

It was just another link between the gross, teaming world

and the high and mighty Grierson's.

After a week or two, the smell went away.

[piano music]

Her last champion, Colonel Sartoris,

died soon after - - isolating her even more.

For a while, she gave china painting lessons

to the daughters and granddaughters

of the Colonel's contemporaries.

But soon, even they ceased coming to her house.

[piano music]

On occasion, we heard music and saw shadowy shapes

parading past the windows - - looking or not looking at us,

we never could tell which.

It became a gloomy house.

Once one of our best,

now a ghost of unnamed and disastrous tragedies.

Meanwhile, her taxes were never collected.

[piano music]

And so she passed from generation to generation - -

dear, inescapable, impervious, tranquil, and perverse.

[crickets chirping/dog barking]

[piano music ends]

[footsteps clicking]

Her Alabama cousins came at once

and held her funeral on the second day.

[coffin lid creaking]

[footsteps shuffling/clicking]

They buried her in the old city cemetery,

even then abandoned,

among the rows of both Union and Confederate dead

who fell at the battle of Jefferson.

[footsteps clicking]

Miss Emily died genteelly,

leaving an odor of old female flesh in the house,

which faded from the rooms slowly - -

lingering in unexpected places like black and savage stars

in an unholy night.

[door opens]

Good morning, ladies.

Good morning, Doctor.

Good morning, ma'am.

Who are you?

Um...I'm Elvue Beinford - -

deputy sherriff.

Where did you get this? Who broke this?

I found it here. I didn't break it.

There is a room upstairs that is locked.

Yes, ma'am.

Tobe didn't say a thing to me.

Tobe's long since gone.

Almost everything's gone.

I wanna go upstairs.

Will you go with us up there? I want this to be legal.

Uh...yes, ma'am.

Alright, come on.

Are you coming?

Yes, ma'am, I'm comin'.

(Doc) I'm comin'.

(Binford) Come on, Doc.

Let's go, Doc.

(woman) This is a disgrace.

Everything is just gone - - the silver, china everything.

I surely do hope we find the ....

...and grandmother's silver service.

This is the room.

Well, there's no key.

You'll have to knock the door in.

[sighs]

And if you'll excuse me, ladies.

[loud bang]

[creaking]

[loud bang/ladies cry out]

[rumbling sounds]

[soft eerie music]

[female whispering] Father....

[female whispering] Shhh.....shhh....

[dramatic music]

[music intensifies]

The towel's been used.

[dramatic music]

What is it?

It's a - - a long strand of gray hair.

[music becomes more intense]

[music ends]

[piano music]

Opportunities for Indigenous Students - Duration: 2:08.

[Light electronic music fades up.]

Sterling-Rae King: My name is Sterling-Rae and I'm from the BC Metis Nation.

Alexandra Freedman: My name is Ali and I am Metis.

Kaylie Atkinson: My name is Kaylie Atkinson and I am First Nations status.

Brayden Jones: My name is Brayden Jones and I am Metis.

Sterling-Rae King: What attracted me to work with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada...

...was that it was the perfect opportunity to be able to continue...

...my learning throughout the summer in an out of classroom setting.

Alexandra Freedman: I applied through the FSWEP program...

...and I self-identified as indigenous.

When I first got the job I didn't really know what agriculture was.

I just thought it was dealing with cows and pigs.

Kaylie Atkinson: You're doing hands on stuff everyday so it's definitely something you're going to use in the future.

I've learned a lot so far.

Brayden Jones: I'm a first year student just coming out of university and I'm working right beside a researcher.

Sterling-Rae King: I think the most surprising thing about working here is being able to see all the different jobs...

...that Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada offers.

There's more than just the science and research part of this and all the other jobs coming in.

Alexandra Freedman: I would definitely recommend getting into the government.

I think now more than ever, if you're given the chance, or if you're able to put yourself out there...

...and make a name for yourself and make a name for indigenous youth...

...and in general just indigenous people in the government of Canada...

...that's a major thing.

Kaylie Atkinson: Being an indigenous woman, I think it's so important for other indigenous youth to work in the government.

Alexandra Freedman: There's tons of jobs out there especially if you're indigenous.

It truly is a rewarding experience and it looks great on a resume as well.

Brayden Jones: It seems like just yesterday that I started.

I can't believe how much I've grown this summer.

Sterling-Rae King: I really like working for the government. I think it's a great opportunity. I would definitely recommend it.

Kaylie Atkinson: I definitely would recommend it.

Brayden Jones: The more people that are able to get involved with it, the better.

Alexandra Freedman: There's so much that this department deals with, there's so much science...

...and so much thought that goes behind everything about agriculture.

It's a great learning experience.
