The US is creating SPACE CORPSa new branch of the military for space
by Revcontent
A brand new branch of the US military could set off space militarization: SPACE CORPS.
While under the command of the US Air Force, Space Corps would deal with threats to American
Nation Security occurring BEYOND Earths atmosphere.
Historic moments have unfolded as the House Armed Services Committee a standing committee
of the United States House of Representatives, responsible for funding and oversight of the
Department of Defense (DOD) and the United States armed forceshas decided to split
the US Air Force, a move which has led to the creation of the United States Space Corps.
This historic decision makes the United States of America the ONLY nation on planet Earth
with a branch of the military that is exclusively dedicated to space.
The proposal came from Congressmen Mike Rogers, R-Ala., and Jim Cooper.
D-Tenn., the top representatives of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, which oversees military
space operations, reports Fox News.
Historic moments, but not everyone agrees.
This is the first military branch that has been created in the US since 1947, but its
creation has been debated since the early 2000s.
In a joint statement issued by Congressmen Mike Rogers, and Jim Cooper, the US Space
Corps would drastically change the national security space enterprise in order to ensure
prioritization of the space domain by creating a U.S. Space Corps as a separate military
service within the Department of the Air Force and under the civilian leadership of the Secretary
of the Air Force.
There is a bipartisan acknowledgment that the strategic advantages we derive from our
national security space systems are eroding, the statement read.
We are convinced that the Department of Defense is unable to take the measures necessary
to address these challenges effectively and decisively, or even recognize the nature and
scale of its problems.
But against WHAT or WHOM would the Space Corps protect the US against?

said: As Ive been chairing this subcommittee for the last four years, we have seen time
and again that our ability to meet new challenges in space is lethargic at best.
The subcommittee is confident that this move will help the United States military in their
strategic advantage in space.
However, not everyone agrees with this move due to the fact that the markup was only discussed
in a couple of meetings.
Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), a retired Air Force colonel, told Federal News Radio: This
is honestly the first time Ive heard about a major reorganization to our Air Force.
This is sort of a shocking way to hear about a very major reorganization to our military,
and I think it deserves at least a couple hearings and discussions on the matter at
the full committee level.
