Author/journalist James Howard Kunstler has been in the writing business for decades and

has never seen the geopolitical and economic landscape in America look like it does today.

Kunstler explains, "I have never lived through a time, and it's obvious I have lived a

long time . . . in American history that is as crazy as this one.

The part that is the most disturbing is the people who used to be sane have now completely

gone off the rails.

I am speaking of the Democratic Party.

The nonsense that is coming out of that wing of our politics has really become a reality

optional political party."

On the so-called Russia collusion story and the 2016 election, Kunstler says, "What

is the strangest part of the whole story is that we have heard nothing but the phrase

'collusion, Russian collusion, Russian interference' in the election for the last 12 months.

I have yet to hear anybody say what it actually was that they colluded with, or what they

actually did other than getting the emails of the DNC and John Podesta and making them

public.

That doesn't seem to be what they are talking about.

We have to find out what they mean by collusion and interference because nobody wants to say."

On the state of journalism, Kunstler, who is a prolific writer and has authored 20 books,

contends, "It's amazingly disappointing.

What else can you say?

It makes you wonder if the people at the New York Times, CNN and the Washington Post are

just underpaid and dumb or whether they are just so dogmatic and ideologically agenda

driven that they have become reality optional.

They are not interested in what's really going on in the world, but only in the 'narrative'

they are trying to push.

It's hard to understand how a culture can decay to this degree, but that's what we

are seeing.

We are seeing the culture of journalism just rot away.

. . . What we are seeing is extremely politically driven media."

Kunstler points out that all markets are rigged and is "worried" about the true state

of the economy.

Kunstler says, "Many have accepted the fact that the authorities can keep on producing

these perversions and distortions of finance forever with no consequences.

That's the part that is really missing.

That's the part of that story that is missing is the idea that there are any consequences

for intervening, perverting and distorting the price discovery mechanism of markets.

That is the fundamental purpose of a market.

. . . The idea that that can go on indefinitely without producing consequences is absurd."

So, how does Kunstler think this will play out?

Kunstler says, "There is an appearance that they can carry on these shenanigans forever,

but sooner, rather than later, we are going to see consequences.

My guess is it will appear in the form of people losing their confidence in the value

and the meaning of the money they are using.

That would be a currency crisis.

Right now, they have no reason to believe in the value of the things in the markets

because the markets have been so distorted.

Eventually, I think it will be a matter of them losing confidence in the currencies themselves.

I think that's where it's going to start to accelerate into a major crisis of culture

and economy."

Clutch Performance is a Myth - Duration: 3:49.

- Hi guys, Calvin Strachan here, creator of the

Find a Way to Win programs and The Eruption seminar.

Talking today about a very controversial topic.

Clutch performance is a myth.

Now, I know that sounds kinda weird at first.

But you think of, like, Michael Jordan, and Tom Brady,

or Sidney Crosby, where the game's on the line

and they must deliver the touchdown,

or must deliver the pass, or the shot,

to win the game, and they somehow do.

Clutch performances are a myth.

Now, before you lynch me or string me up,

(chuckles) follow me, here.

Because I love Michael Jordan, I do, I'm a huge fan.

But understand, when the pressure was on,

his performance actually went down.

Now, here's what I mean.

A study was done by some researchers

looking at the NBA, all the NBA players,

that means all-star players to benchwarmer players,

to see how their performance changed

when they were under pressure.

And they looked specifically at their foul shots,

standing at the foul line, taking shots.

Now, when the game was quite a difference,

say 20 points, 15 point difference,

the players felt no pressure and their shots were fine.

However, when the team was down by one point,

and that foul shot meant tying the game,

their performance dropped, all players, over three years.

What does that mean?

That means, when the pressure was on,

their performance came down,

including the lovely and wonderful, amazing Michael Jordan.

So how is it possible that he would hit

the game-winning shot, or we all remember the game six

against Utah when he hit his famous shot over Russell.

How is that possible?

The thing is, if you wanna be better in the clutch,

you have to practice in the clutch.

A study was done in London, London, England,

with the black cab drivers.

And if you've not been to London,

the infrastructure there is quite messy, it's like a maze,

unlike Manhattan or Toronto where it's like a grid,

when you're driving around, very easy to get around.

In London, it's literally like a maze, and the cars,

it's just crazy.

So these black cab drivers have to figure out

how to remember how to get around everywhere.

And they specifically only put people in cabs

who were great at that spatial awareness,

actually tested spatially good at it.

So how's it possible of simply finding

these random people who are spatially aware?

So the researchers decided, okay, you know what,

we're gonna look at these guys, let's look at their brain,

do a little bit of brain scanning, see what's going on.

And what they found was this.

They found the part in the brain responsible

for spatial awareness was actually larger

in these London cab drivers.

In fact, the more they drove cabs in London,

the more they practiced in the clutch,

the bigger this part of the brain got.

What am I saying?

If you want to be good under pressure,

if you want to be good in the clutch,

you have to practice and play in the clutch.

Which means, when you're at work,

and there's a challenging assignment coming,

don't shy away, take the shot.

When there's a nice beautiful man or beautiful girl

in front of you, you wanna ask him or her out,

don't shy away, take the shot.

The more times you practice in the clutch,

the better you get.

'Cause it's true.

MJ, I love Michael, he's amazing.

When the pressure was on, he'll tell you,

he missed more shots than most people.

His performance went down.

But, he took more shots in that position,

in that clutch moment, which made him great,

which made him better.

If you want to find a way to win,

take more shots in the clutch, put yourself out there,

and you will definitely find a way to win.
