Not Leonidas anymore! How Gerard Butler has gone from a buff Spartan king in 300 to a gruff Scottish lighthouse keeper as he sports a sizeable paunch on holiday in Mexico
He became an international star in 2007 when he transformed into muscular King Leonidas for action film 300.

But it seems Gerard Butler has lost some of his toned physique as he was spotted with a sizeable paunch on a Mexican beach with girlfriend Morgan Brown. The actor, 47, won legions of fans early on in his career, when he starred in films that required him to strip off for steamy scenes.

Gerard, who ditched his gruelling workout regime to film thriller Keepers, has changed dramatically since his rise to fame in the mid-2000s. The actor wore just a red cape and a pair of leather shorts to play legendary Spartan Leonidas, who was said to have lead 300 men into battle against the Persians

The actor had to work out six-hours a day for seven months in the lead up to filming the action-packed flick. He told Entertainment Tonight in 2007: 'You just keep stepping over little barriers. You're enjoying it because you know you'll never be like this again, so you think how much more can you push it?'
In order to prepare for the role, Gerard enlisted the help of Venezuelan bodybuilder Franco LiCastro and mountain climber Mark Twight, who developed a special '300-rep Spartan workout' for him. Gerard reflected on the experience to Men's Health in 2010 and said: 'I wanted to look really strong. I've seen so many actors play these kinds of roles, and you see all this equipment on either a big belly or skinny little arms.

'That was a great thing, to put on that cape and put on that helmet, and not have to think, s***, I should have trained more. Instead, I was standing there feeling like a lion.'
The actor, who gave up a career as a lawyer to pursue his dream, also stopped drinking as he chased Hollywood fame in the late 1990s. Since his breakout role as Leonidas, Gerard has maintained his impressive physique for action films such as Law Abiding Citizen.

In the 2009 movie, his character was arrested in the nude, showing off his rippling abs as he was taken away by a SWAT team.
Gerard also stripped off in front of Jennifer Aniston in 2010 comedy The Bounty Hunter, when he emerged out of the bathroom wearing just a towel. The actor's talent and fine figure also landed him roles in many rom coms.

The star has kept up his buff image for recent action films like Olympus Has Fallen, which has spawned two sequels, and sword-and-sandal romp Gods of Egypt. He told GQ in 2016: 'Right now I'm training five times a week. I do a lot of cardio but I'm starting to lift heavy because in my next movie I'm supposed to be beefy, a big undercover cop in LA covered in tattoos – so it's not big and cut, it's just big.'
But a fine physique is not required for his latest film, where the Scottish star plays a lighthouse keeper in thriller Keepers.

Gerard, who stars alongside Peter Mullan and Joe Alwyn, plays one of three lighthouse keepers who disappeared without a trace on the Western Isles in 1900. The actor has finished filming in Galloway, but it appears Gerard and the rest of the crew indulged in some fine Scottish cuisine while shooting the thriller.

Prince Charles plans lavish 70th birthday party for Camilla Parker Bowls - Duration: 3:30.
PRINCE Charles is to host a lavish party for 300 guests to celebrate wife Camilla�s 70th
birthday.
Although the Duchess of Cornwall is expected to keep a low public profile this summer so
as not to overshadow the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana�s death, Charles will
spare no expense for the private bash on July 15.
Once dubbed the �most hated woman in Britain� for her part in breaking up Charles�s first
marriage, Camilla is now one of the most popular royals and is very much a �Queen in waiting�.
The black tie dinner at Highgrove, their Gloucestershire home, is being organised by Charles�s former
valet Michael Fawcett, who still works for the Prince on a freelance basis.
�It�s going to be a wonderful evening and Michael is brilliant at organising these
events,� said a friend of the Prince last night.
�Charles wants his loyal friends to know how much he loves Camilla and how he would
be lost without her.
�Although no-one will admit it publicly, she will be queen when Charles becomes king,
and the feeling is that the dark days are very much behind her, so there is a lot to
celebrate.
�He threw amazing parties at Highgrove for her 50th and 60th birthdays and I�m sure
this one will be fantastic as well.�
The party, two days before Camilla�s birthday, will be held in The Orangery after guests
are served champagne and cocktails outside in Charles�s beloved manicured gardens.
The Queen and Prince Philip have been invited, but are not thought likely to attend.
William and Kate will be there, and all eyes will be on Prince Harry to see if he brings
his American girlfriend Meghan Markle, as speculation mounts that an engagement could
be imminent.
Despite their mother�s divorce and tragic death, Harry has said he and William �love
Camilla to bits�.
Guests are likely to include Joanna Lumley and her husband Stephen Barlow, Stephen Fry,
Lord Puttnam, Dame Judi Dench and Winston Churchill�s grandson, MP Sir Nicholas Soames.
Former husband Andrew Parker Bowles has been invited along with Camilla�s sister Annabel
Elliot and her family.
Others likely to be there are Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, Zara
and Mike Tindall and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
Two years after Charles and Camilla married in 2005, the Queen gave Camilla a seal of
approval by lending her a stunning diamond necklace for her 60th birthday party.
The Garrard & Co piece was commissioned by King George VI as a present to his wife Elizabeth
on his coronation in 1937.
The fact that it was owned by the Queen Mother was said to have moved Camilla deeply.
At the party 10 years ago William rekindled his romance with the-then Kate Middleton,
whom he had split from in April that year.
They got back together before marrying in 2011.
