Waching daily Jul 1 2017

Prince William, Princess Kate and Prince Harry have released a candid new video for their

Heads Together mental health campaign discussing some of the most personal issues they have

faced, including parenting and coping with Princess Diana's death.

Kate, 35, and William, 34, the parents of Princess Charlotte and Prince George, opened

up about the profound effects of becoming parents and the challenges they faced in the

first few weeks after George was born in 2013.

"Having a child, particularly your first child, is a life-changing moment, nothing can really

prepare you for that," Kate said.

"Remember the first few days with little George.

You have no idea what you're doing.

No matter how many books you read, nothing can prepare you for it."

William agreed saying, "There's no rule book.

There's no training that teaches you how to do it.

You just learn from previous generations and hope that you can translate into what you

want to do."

William and Kate spoke movingly about how overwhelmed they were despite the support

they received from family in the immediate aftermath of George's birth.

"Do you remember up in Anglesey, we'd had our couple weeks of family support and then

you were keen to get back to work, and I was, 'Yeah, I'll come with you of course,' so we

scooted off back to Anglesey with George.

Those first few weeks were a steep learning curve," Kate recalled.

"A steep learning curve massively," William concurred.

"When you have children it puts your own emotions and own life into perspective massively."

William, Kate and Harry, 32, also spoke poignantly, and for the first time on camera as a group,

about the 1997 death of William and Harry's mother, Princess Diana, and how her death

shaped their lives.

"Considering everything that you boys sadly went though and the trauma you experienced

... I do think it's incredible how strong and how you've been able to cope really,"

Kate said to her husband and brother-in-law.

"And I put that down to your really early years and your childhood experience, but also

the relations you've got."

Kate added, "You're amazingly close," to which William replied, "Most of the time," as he

and Harry laughed.

Kate told William and Harry that despite the tragedy, the support they've given each other

was a blessing in dealing with their own grief.

"Some families aren't as lucky as you guys have been and being able to share things,"

she said.

"We have been brought closer because of the circumstances as well, that's the thing,"

William agreed.

"You are, you know, uniquely blinded because of what we've been through but even Harry

and I over the years have not talked enough about our mother."

Harry agreed with his brother, saying, "No never enough."

Harry, who was 12 when Diana died, revealed earlier this week that he sought counseling

two decades after his mother's death.

Harry said he sought help at the advice of William after largely trying to ignore Diana's

death because it was too painful.

"I always thought to myself, what's the point of bringing up the past?

What's the point if bringing up something that's only going to make you sad," Harry

said to William and Kate in the new video.

"It ain't going to change it.

It ain't going to bring her back.

And when you start thinking like that it can be really damaging.

And you always said to me, 'You've got to sit down and think about those memories.'"

He continued, "But for me I was like I don't want to think about it."

What are the Best Metal Choices for Beginning Chainmaille? Compare and Contrast - Duration: 6:30.

In this lesson, I'll be talking about the different types of metal that are commonly

used in chainmaille, as well as make suggestions about what metals are best for beginners.

Let's discuss base metals, starting with aluminum.

Aluminum is lightweight, shiny, very easy to work with and comes in a multitude of colors.

In my opinion, aluminum is perfect for beginners, which is why all of the jump ring supplies

until Section 5 of this course are made up entirely of aluminum.

When buying aluminum jump rings, it's important to distinguish between regular aluminum and

bright aluminum.

Bright aluminum has been polished and is very shiny.

Regular aluminum is much cheaper but hasn't been polished and as a result, a "blackish"

residue will come off on your fingers very quickly.

You can polish regular aluminum using hot water and regular dish soap.

Next up is copper.

To start, copper is a shiny, bright orange, just like a new penny, but oxidizes into an

auburn russet color quite quickly, especially in hot and humid climates.

This is why, when shopping for copper jump rings, it's important to know whether or not

the rings have been treated or coated.

I personally love the look of oxidized copper, but it's something to consider when determining

the final look that you want.

Copper is one of the most malleable base metals, but depending upon the body chemistry of the

wearer, raw copper may leave a greenish tinge on the skin.

This washes off the skin easily, but again, this is an important consideration.

I definitely recommend copper for beginners.

And just as a side note, you can return oxidized raw copper to its shiny penny color by soaking

it in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce or lemon juice and then rinsing it with warm water.

I'm totally not kidding, this is actually a thing.

Just make sure that you don't forget about it and leave it in the sauce.

And then, we come to the gorgeous and versatile stainless steel, which sports a beautiful,

shiny dark silver color.

You can stick stainless steel jewelry in the dishwasher or chuck it into a mud puddle and

it will come out looking like new after a nice rinse.

This is why I recommend using stainless steel rings for the barefoot sandal bonus project

in this course.

They're a little more expensive than aluminum or copper but they last indefinitely.

Stainless steel isn't very malleable and can be a little bit difficult to work with, but

it's hypoallergenic and super easy to clean and maintain.

That's why I won't say its exactly good for beginners, but it's definitely acceptable.

Anodizing is the process of dipping metal, usually aluminum or niobium, into an electrolytic

solution where voltage changes determine the final layer color.

Jump rings that have been anodized will keep their color for quite a while, but are not

resistant to scratching or extended wear.

Enameled metals, usually copper and sometimes aluminum, have been treated with a colored

plastic coating.

Enameled silvered metals usually have the brightest colors because there is a coating

of fine, or pure, silver under the plastic coating.

These jump rings, as I'm sure you can imagine, tend to be a bit more expensive.

Plated metals start with a core of base metal, which is nearly always brass and are coated

in a minuscule layer of pure silver or gold.

And by minuscule, I mean that the amount of gold or silver is not enough to even be included

in the item's final weight.

Ultimately, it's no more than 0.05% of the total weight.

So, they initially have the look of precious metal and they're much less expensive than

precious metal, but the plating wears off very quickly to show the base metal underneath.

I have found that when using antique plated metals, such as the ones recommended for the

Ombre Earrings and the Graduated Lariat Necklace in this course, the plating lasts significantly

longer than regular gold or silver plating.

I have a pair of antique silver plated earrings that I made five years ago and they still

look brand new.

On the other hand, some of the plated jewelry I made just last year is already showing signs

of wear.

Plated metals are very easy to work with and they start out looking fabulous.

I think they are a very viable option for beginners.

It's just important for you to know what to expect when you choose to use plated metals.

Filled metals also start off with a brass core, but the percentage of silver or gold

in the final weight is much higher, ultimately 5% or 1/20 of the total weight.

Filled metals generally maintain their color beautifully over time.

They are less expensive than sterling silver and significantly less expensive than karat

gold.

Filled metals are relatively malleable, but can be a little pricey for beginners.

Personally, I have found that gold filled metal doesn't change color over time, but

silver filled does tend to yellow a bit with the brass underneath.

Although the filling process is the same for both silver and gold, I generally spring for

the 925 silver instead of silver filled, since it's not nearly as costly as karat gold.

Pure silver is far too soft in its natural state to be much good for anything practical,

sterling silver includes 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, hence the 925 stamps you see

on jewelry.

This strengthens the metal while still maintaining its color.

Argentium sterling silver is a relative newcomer in the world of metal.

It made its debut in 2005 and has come to be respected as the most tarnish resistant

silver on the market.

This is accomplished by adding the chemical element germanium to the mix.

This results in Argentium being a brighter white than sterling, a harder metal than sterling,

more tarnish resistant than sterling and yup, you guessed it!

More expensive than sterling.

Just a little side note, I love Argentium sterling silver.

I just can't help it.

It's so shiny!

Although I don't cover it in this video lecture, there's also information about karat gold

in the lecture notes.

If you have any questions about metal choices, please feel free to ask away in the interactive

Q&A.

I'll see you in the next lesson!

Prince Harry visits girlfriend Meghan Markle in Toronto for Easter weekend - Duration: 3:01.

Prince Harry has flown to Toronto to spend Easter weekend with his girlfriend, American

actress Meghan Markle.

Harry, the fifth in line to the British throne, was seen slipping into Markle's home Wednesday

night.

Harry, 32, shielded his face with a baseball cap and arrived under the cover of darkness

with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder.

Markle, 35, and Harry have been spending time at Harry's cottage at Kensington Palace but

Markle had to return to Toronto recently to fulfill her acting commitments on the television

show "Suits."

The couple's relationship has seen Harry and Markle jet back and forth across the Atlantic

for extended visits.

The pair met up in Jamaica in March to attend the wedding of one of Harry's closest friends

from Eton.

Markle joined Harry shortly after the wedding at his Nottingham cottage before she returned

to Canada at the end of the March.

Markle announced last week that she was shutting down her lifestyle blog, The Tig.

Speculation has mounted that the move may be a sign that an engagement for Harry and

Markle could be in the cards soon.

Markle, who has been extremely active on social media, would need to scale back her presence

online if she were going to join the intensely private royal family.

In a farewell message to her Tig followers, Markle wrote, "Youve made my days brighter

and filled this experience with so much joy.

Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being

the change you wish to see in the world. Above all, dont ever forget your worth

as Ive told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough."

While insiders say that Markle intends to focus on her humanitarian work and her acting

commitments, the closing of The Tig has still raised eyebrows that an engagement may be

imminent.

Princess Kate gave up her job as an accessories buyer before she became engaged in 2010 to

Prince William.

There are questions about whether Markle will continue her acting career on "Suits" beyond

this season or whether she has been asked to be written out of the show so she can spend

more time with Harry in London.

Harry's current trip to Toronto will be a quick one.

He's due back in London for a series of engagements tied to the Heads Together charity he started

with William and Kate last year.

Heads Together released another video last week with Harry encouraging runners ahead

of the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon.
