Can you convince someone you care about to eat healthy? - Duration: 5:55.

- Hey guys, Robby here from CrossFit South Bend.

Today we are gonna try to answer the question,

how do I convince someone who I really care

about, to eat healthy?

I know that they have this chronic health condition

that is making their life very hard

to live, I know that they're overweight,

I know that they don't feel good about themselves.

How do I convince them to eat healthy

and better their lives?

And, typically if you're asking this question,

you're someone who has seen the benefits yourself

of eating healthy and you want

to help others and understandably so.

So, the first thing I want to say before

I give you the answer to this question

is, you're to be applauded for trying

to do something nice for people that you care about.

Obviously that's something that you're trying

to do out of generosity and kindness.

That being said, you can't do this.

It's pretty much impossible to do.

And I know that's probably not the answer

that you wanted to hear, but both as

a nutrition coach and someone who has seen

this happen personally first-hand

and from some of my mentors in the field,

like Robb Wolf, who is one of the leaders

in the healthy nutrition community

whose parents to their dying day were smokers

and drinkers, even though their son was

a healthy nutrition coach, this isn't something you can do.

And it's very understandable that you would want

to do it, but you need to understand

that there is nothing you can do

or say to convince someone to eat healthy.

They have to come to it themselves.

And you might be asking, is there anything I can do to help?

Number one, almost do the exact opposite

of what you're trying to do right now,

which I know sounds counter-intuitive,

but have you ever met someone who was more likely

to do something the more they were told to do it?

Typically as adults, it's the exact opposite, right?

So if someone tells us what to do,

whether it's a friend or a significant other

and they kind of belabor the point

and they're dogmatic about it, and oh you need

to start eating healthy, stop eating that bread.

We just kind of view them as a jerk, right?

We just kinda say, you're being really pushy

and this is really making me feel uncomfortable.

It's very rare that you're going

to convince someone that way.

So, that's really not gonna work,

so stop doing that, in general.

That's not really going to help.

So, what can you do instead?

Number one, be the example, be the example.

Instead of talking about all of these great benefits

and being the proselytizer, which no one really likes,

just by the way, instead of being the health

proselytizer, be an example.

Just eat the way that you think is healthiest,

and continue to eat your real whole food,

and people will see the benefits.

They will understand, and they will be much more likely

to take advice from you just by watching

what happens with you than if you repeatedly

tell them what to do.

So that's number one.

Number two, if someone is really genuinely

interested, send them some details,

send them some information on it.

After they ask you, don't send this unsolicited,

don't be a jerk about it.

If you think they need to lose weight,

but they haven't asked you about how to lose weight,

don't send them an article about how to lose weight.

So if they ask you, then send them some general information.

And if they want to follow-up from there,

then you can talk about it.

Number three, never under any circumstances talk

about this in a food context.

So this is like politics and religion.

The last thing you should ever talk

about at dinner or lunch or breakfast,

or any sort of special occasion

is what you should be eating.

This is the worst place to talk about this.

And again, I'm talking about this both

from personal experience, from my mentors

in the field, from the people I've coached,

this is the worst place to talk about this stuff.

You are not going to convince someone who

is sitting there eating a roll of bread

in front of you not to eat gluten

because of all this that and the other thing

that you're listening out right then and there.

That is the worst time to do it,

so don't talk about those things in that context.

And then lastly, make peace with the way things are.

We've talked about this in other videos

with regard to mindfulness and making your peace

with the way things are.

The truth is we all only have so much control

over what we can do, and you could do

the best job of trying to make these rational arguments,

this that and the other thing, this piece of evidence.

I come from a philosophy background.

Before I got into health and nutrition,

I was a philosophy grad student

and we did tons and tons of debating.

And one of the things we all found out

was, it's very, very rare no matter how much you try

to present a rational argument to someone,

that they will accept it just purely

on the basis of reason.

There's a lot of emotion and psychology

and other things that go into it.

So make peace with the fact that you may just not

be able to do this.

And I have certainly had this many times

as a health coach where I know that there

are people that I can help who have come

to me and have issues that they need help with,

but they are not willing to put in the effort to get help.

They say the equivalent of, well,

I want to get better, but I don't want

to change my diet, what can you do for me?

And the answer is, nothing.

So, at the end of the day, you need

to make peace with the fact that there might just

be certain situations where you can't convince

people, and that's okay.

Do what you can for you and for your health,

and for those who want to be helped,

provide them with information, don't brow-beat them,

don't be pushy, but give information,

and then if someone doesn't want to be convinced,

that's just all you can do, okay?

So, hopefully that gives you a bit

of a better sense of how to deal with these situations.

Moonkin Festival Micro-Holiday 7.2.5 PTR Preview! - Duration: 2:24.

Hi!

I'm Hazel, and this is a quick look at the Moonkin Festival Micro-Holiday on the 7.2.5

PTR.

It's a week-long event in Moonglade that's currently in testing on the PTR until May

the 1st.

Even though it lasts a week it's still a micro-holiday so you can safely skip it if you're \ busy.

There are no achievements, mounts, titles, toys or permanent pets to be had so it's just

a cute little thing for fun.

If you are a baby moonkin enthusiast though, you won't want to miss it.

To start, you head out to Moonglade and pick up a quest from Maccaw, just north-west of

the southern flight path.

He wants you to observe the baby moonkins as they undergo their education.

Stand nearby while they learn how to dance, how to moonfire and watch them all take a

nap.

They don't exactly close their eyes so the napping thing is more than a little bit spooky.

Once you turn in the quest you get your own baby moonkin to follow you around for a day.

Next, go find a Moonkin Stone so you can understand your new little buddy.

As it turns out, the little guy's hungry so it's time to go find him some berries.

Over near the barrow dens in the east you can loot Moonberries.

Feed your dude 5 moonberries another little moonkin will spawn!

After doing that at least once, they let on that they're worried about their friend Clookle.

To save Clookle, you'll need to create a Moonkissed Antidote so go kill the Jadefire satyr to

collect a Brilliant Vial, a Constellas Corruption and a Moonglow Water.

Clookle will be hidden away in the Barrow Dens, and there's the Satyr boss Xavinox to

beat after that.

Beating Xavinox will get you a Beanie Boomie, which summons more Moonkin babies to follow

you around!

You can stack a squad of up to 5 moonkin for 5 days, which is quite the crew.

If you're heartbroken at the thought of losing your Moonkin babies, there's always the Moonkin

Hatchling pet available in the cash shop for $10.

One WoW token purchase would cover that, so you can technically get it with gold if you

like.

It's actually two pets that you level separately- one color each for Horde and Alliance.

So that's the Moonkin Festival!

I like micro-holidays like this that last a little bit longer than a day, but still

aren't mandatory by any means.

Snake Pass Review - Could playing as a snake be any fun? - Duration: 8:36.

Greetings and welcome I'm Ash and today I would like to talk to you about Yooka-Laylee

- a colorful and charming 3D platformer that is far more difficult than you might expect.

Since there is no jump button, and since most collectibles are perched over humongous drops

or pits of lava, you will need to master the controls and become one with the snake inside

if you wish to last long.

This process will most likely take you a while, but once it finally clicks you might just

find that being a snake is far more complex and enjoyable than you could've ever imagined.

So if you're wondering whether Snake Pass is the type of platformer you might enjoy,

and whether its gameplay mechanics are more than a simple gimmick, allow me to share my

thoughts on what I've experienced throughout my journey to collect every single deviously

hidden coin.

And believe me when I say, collecting these things was quite the journey!

The very first loading screen I encountered gave me a simple tip: "Think like a snake."

Back then I paid that advice no heed, because after all I've spent the entirety of my childhood

puzzling and platforming through all sorts of games, so what could Snake Pass really

do to me?

However, after dying well over 50 times on the optional challenges from the very first

level I realized that my patented "just brute-force it" method would not be bringing me much success

in Snake Pass.

This is due to the simple fact that Snake Pass does not control like your run-of-the-mill

3D platformer.

Instead of constantly jumping around and stomping on enemies with your butt you play as an adorable

'little' snake called Noodle, with all of the advantages and disadvantages that form

brings.

You can slither alongside walls, extend your body in order to reach far away places, coil

around bamboo in order to easily climb large surfaces, and also slide straight into a bottomless

pit because getting used to realistic 'snaking around' takes a bit of time.

Thankfully the learning process is entirely natural and you're not going to be struggling

against the controls, which is quite an impressive achievement when you consider how much depth

there is to the movement.

I've tried playing Snake Pass with both a gamepad and mouse & keyboard combo, and I

am very glad to say that both options are perfectly fine.

It might even come as a bit of a surprise to hear that I ended up going with mouse & keyboard

as my preferred control scheme for a 3D platformer!

That said, there is one very annoying bug with the controls.

Your hummingbird friend Doodle often takes way too long to respond to your commands,

which wouldn't be such a problem if he wasn't assigned to the endlessly useful "OH GOD I

AM GOING TO DIE, HELP ME" button.

While Snake Pass does get deliciously tricky later on the very beginning offers a nearly

perfect introduction to the controls... as long as you don't try to go for the hardcore

optional challenges that will gladly throw you straight off a cliff, over and over again.

You'll mostly spend the first few levels in relative safety, just climbing up and down

poles, learning how to effectively navigate obstacles, and slowly realizing that being

as fast as possible is a surefire way to die given how hard it is to keep track of every

part of your snake.

These 'tutorial' levels are all nice and simple, but also sprinkled with enough hidden collectibles

to slowly push you towards learning harder and more complex tricks.

Once you get to the second world, however, I sure hope you've managed to learn all of

the mechanics because playtime is over!

In World 2 and beyond the difficulty spikes once reserved for the most hidden of collectibles

are suddenly the norm, while the previously safe environments are swiftly replaced with

actual spikes, deathtraps, and falls that waste 30+ seconds of your time.

I'm not someone who shirks in the face of challenge, and indeed I managed to 100% these

levels as well, but the difficulty curve after the first world is just completely ridiculous.

I learned most of the advanced tricks while dying over and over again on the first level,

but even that knowledge didn't save me from the beatdown World 2's hidden areas delivered

upon me.

I eventually adjusted and managed to complete all of the levels just fine, but it would've

been nice if the difficulty curve was just a bit smoother while I was still learning

how to walk... or rather slither.

World 2 doesn't just bring with it an increase in difficulty, it also marks the beginning

of much more open-ended levels and even better secrets.

There are plenty of simple little puzzles to solve, bottomless pits to dangle over as

you try to collect coins, and even massive pools of lava you will need to bypass by crawling

across two pieces of bamboo tied with a bit of string... and yes, its about as safe as

it sounds.

The level design isn't going to set the world on fire, expect via the previously mentioned

pools of lava, but it does a pretty damn good job of exploring Snake Pass' unique mechanics.

As such its a bit unfortunate that the checkpoint system does almost completely the opposite

- it discourages experimentation and crazy tactics.

To its credit, you do respawn almost instantly after each death, which goes a long way towards

removing some of the fatigue you might encounter in the later levels.

The problem is that the checkpoints are too sparingly placed, so you're often going to

solve two tricky obstacle courses, slip up on the third, and then find yourself right

at the very beginning.

Its needlessly frustrating, and for some of the more tricky areas it occasionally even

made me rage-quit the level because I simply couldn't force myself to redo half of it over

and over again.

On the positive side, this is an issue that can be fixed rather easily, so hopefully the

developers will do just that as it will greatly improve what Snake Pass has to offer.

Even though I quit a few levels out of pure anger it is very hard to stay grumpy at Snake

Pass, and soon enough I was back exploring its rich and colorful world.

If you've taken even a single glance at any of the images so far this won't come as much

of a surprise, but Snake Pass really is a beautiful game.

All of the levels have a plethora of little details and personality about them, and this

even includes the fire world which is actually my favorite.

But what might be Snake Pass' biggest achievement is the simple fact that it manages to make

a snake completely adorable!

Add to this a relaxing and upbeat soundtrack that greatly reminds me of the collectathons

of old and you've got yourself a platformer that is simply oozing with charm.

I just wish the camera would actually let me see all of that instead of firmly lodging

itself into the nearby wall.

Mind you, this isn't a constant problem that detracts from the otherwise lovely ambiance,

but every time you enter an enclosed area you're going to be in for quite a ride.

In these sort of scenarios you will not only have to move around like a snake, but also

grapple with the camera at the same time, which unless you have a third hand this is

not going to be the easiest of feats.

Its really not something that will ruin your experience with Snake Pass, but its definitely

aggravating enough to deserve this mini-rant!

Snake Pass has a couple of annoying issues, but if you're a fan of platformers and collectathons

then these are problems you can easily ignore in favor of the unique but still enjoyable

gameplay.

The world is brimming with colors, the controls are solid, and the gameplay mostly manages

to remain relaxing while still challenging enough to make you work your collectibles.

It might have gotten slightly overshadowed by Yooka-Laylee, but Snake Pass definitely

has enough going for it to make it worth your time!

and the last time I wore that dress was so good,

I was doing a presentation in front of 500 people,

I had outgrown that dress, it was a size six.

Measure Power with USB Power Sensor | N9344C, N9343C, N9342C Handheld Spectrum Analyzers | Keysight - Duration: 4:24.

You will know if you have got one of these Agilent U2000-series USB Power Sensors, that

not only is it a Power Sensor, but in fact it is a complete Power Sensor and Power Meter

all combined in the one unit. And in fact the connector on the end rather

than being a normal Power Sensor connector, is a USB plug.

You just plug the unit into your laptop PC and it converts it into a microwave Power

Meter. In this case I am using the U2002A which covers

50 MHz to 24 GHz. But you can also plug them directly into Agilent's

handheld spectrum analyzers. We just press the MODE KEY

and select POWER METER and I will plug the USB lead into the USB

Port on the analyzer. You will see the Power Sensor has been recognized

and is initializing. It is a good time to point out that unlike

a normal Power Sensor and Meter where you have to manually enter the calibration factors

for that particular sensor into the meter to get an accurate measurement with the U2000

series, the power factors are automatically loaded in they are stored in memory inside

the unit. Plus you do not have to zero or calibrate

the sensor - it is auto-zeroing and auto-calibrating. So the sensor is now recognized and it is

all working so let us connect some RF to the sensor input.

Now you may ask the question why would we want to use one of these microwave power sensors

with a handheld spectrum analyzer? Well there is a couple of good reasons.

First of all, here I have got a 7 GHz spectrum analyzer but in fact I am measuring a microwave

signal up at 21 GHz. First of all it extends the frequency range

for amplitude measurements of the RF spectrum. Secondly, a power meter is always going to

make a far more accurate measurement than any spectrum analyzer ever can.

With our handheld spectrum analyzer and the U2000 sensor we can make RF level measurements

with the ultimate accuracy. Now do not forget before we start making an

accurate measurement, we do need to tell the analyzer what frequency the signal is that

we are measuring so that it can load the correct calibration constant.

I will just press MEAS SETUP and select FREQUENCY

and I will enter 21 GHz. Now we are making an accurate calibrated power

meter measurement of our 21 GHz signal. As well as the graphical display with the

meter, you will see as the level goes up and down such as in the situation of microwave

fading, we can see the level decreasing and increasing.

It shows the measured value in dBm and also in watts in this case 8 uW.

It also shows the minimum value, or minimum amplitude, that the unit has seen since we

started making the measurement and also the maximum.

Again very useful if we are trying to characterize path loss or fading situations.

But what is even better if I press RETURN and press MEAS DISPLAY

you will see here that we can change the display mode to a chart recorder.

On the chart recorder display we have time on the X-axis and power in dBm on the Y-axis.

So if we are trying to track a microwave fading situation, as the level drops down, you can

see that we are recording that on the chart recorder display and of course we can then

save that historical record of the changes in microwave power level to the internal memory
