Hey everyone! Wojtek here to talk about the meaning of strike while the iron is hot.

It means to act on an opportunity

quickly while there is time or favourable conditions exist.

This old proverb literally has its origins in blacksmithing because when forging items

out of metal, especially iron, it is necessary to strike the metal with a

mallet while it is still hot enough to be shaped. Hence, by striking while the

iron is hot you are acting while you still can.

Some examples of strike while the iron is hot being used in context are...

We found a really nice apartment in the city centre we need to strike while the iron is hot

before someone else rents it.

or...

Make sure you strike while the iron is hot when tickets go on sale because they'll be sold out in seconds.

Remember the next time someone says strike while the iron is hot,

they are talking about taking action before it's too late

How can they navigate?

It is so weird.

And if I were to be stuck in a lift with a blind person

maybe.. I have not encountered this before

I might have reacted the same way as him

will not bang on the doors very long

I will immediately find the lift call button

and maybe tap the blind.. trying to figure it out.

I dunno - it seemed that the lift was in the darkness

If so, I dunno how both can communicate in the dark
