Moment an F-18 fighter jet is struck by LIGHTNING in clip from cockpit - Daily News - Duration: 2:12.This is the incredible moment lightening strikes the cockpit of a F-18 fighter jet.
The pilot, who is known as Viper and from Kuwait, is startled when the lightening hits his aircraft and raises his arm towards his face.
Footage of the rare strike was shared on social media by Jack Barquist and has now been viewed more than 160,000 times.
As the pilot is flying the twin-engine fighter jet a loud bang is heard and a flash of light fills the screen.
Unsurprisingly Viper jumps and moves his head forward before reaching for his helmet and touching his goggles.

Dozens of people have commented on the short clip saying it is incredible that the lightening was captured on camera and that the pilot was very 'lucky.'
One person said: 'Imagine going into a hospital and saying I got hit by lightening in a jet, that's sick.'
Another added: 'The sound is really really loud when you experience it - like someone shooting a rifle next to your head.'
While one person commented: 'That'll keep the old ticker thumping pretty hard for a minute or two. Glad he's good.
'Didn't expect that canopy to withstand a strike like that. Pretty amazing.'

Firmino is one of a kind and no-look goals are why fans love him - Duration: 8:05."Si Senor" boomed out around Anfield as a Roberto Firmino-inspired Liverpool thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in their final game of 2018
The Brazilian has endured a challenging time in front of goal so far this season, adjusting to a new deeper position behind Mohamed Salah with Jurgen Klopp adopting a 4-2-3-1 system
But despite being without a goal from his previous five outings, there was virtually no doubt the Brazilian would be back amongst the goals against the Gunners as his maiden hat-trick for the Reds saw him take his tally to an astonishing eight goals from just eight outings against Arsenal
Liverpool fans haven't just become accustomed to Firmino scoring against the North London side since he first moved to Merseyside in June 2015
From pretending to pull his shirt over his head to Sadio Mane copying his goal celebrations, there have been numerous recurring traits in his Anfield career
His guns celebration is one, granted a comeback as he gunned down the Gunners. But that wasn't the only Firmino trademark back on show against Arsenal
His famous 'no-look' finish was too! To look the other way when scoring into an empty net screams both confidence and arrogance
It rubs salt in the wounds, adding insult to injury for the conceding side. It is a sign of disrespect
While the skill itself is simple, not many players have the audacity to pull such a move off
Most players wouldn't have the ability or personality to get away with it. Take Luis Suarez for example, the man whose skill-set Firmino resembles most in recent Anfield folklore
If he had produced such a finish when scoring his stunning tap-in against Newcastle United in November 2012, opposing fans would have seen red
But this is where Firmino is different. Whether it's his knowing smile when scoring, or simply the fact he is capable of following it up with an equally-outrageous goal sixty seconds later, as he did against Arsenal, he is loved for it
Anfield may have already witnessed a spectacular no-look backheel pass against Cardiff City from the Brazilian this season, Liverpool fans have had to wait 10 months for its glorious reappearance with the forward resisting the urge to look the other way when gifted open goals against Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley earlier in the campaign
He also ignored the temptation to net such a goal at last summer's World Cup in Russia when scoring in Brazil's round-of-16 victory over Mexico back in the summer
There have also been missed opportunities against Manchester City when scoring his first Liverpool goal or against AS Roma in last year's Champions League semi-final at Anfield
But a defensive error gifted the Brazilian with a simple chance to equalise moments after Ainsley Maitland-Niles had side-footed Arsenal ahead, Firmino made sure dust off his 'no-look' finish for one last time in 2018
While Reds fans had to wait until the 2017/18 season for him to dare such a goal, the Brazilian had form for club and country before his move to Anfield
Hoffenheim v Werder Bremen, August 2014 Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Getting in behind the Werder Bremen defence, Firmino controls a long ball forward from Sebastian Rudy with one deft touch to go past goalkeeper Raphael Wolf before rolling home into the empty net
Brazil v Chile, March 2015 Running onto Danilo's through-ball at an international friendly at the Emirates Stadium, the forward produces a 'no-look' finish on English soil for the first time as he rounds goalkeeper Claudio Bravo before coolly rolling the ball home to score the only goal in a 1-0 win
Sevilla v Liverpool, November 2017 Having already opened the scoring inside the opening ninety seconds, he scored his second of the night after Sergio Rico had saved Sadio Mane's initial shot, finishing into an empty net to make it 3-0 to Liverpool and score his first no-look goal for the Reds
Unfortunately Sevilla would fight back in the second half to claim a 3-3 draw. Liverpool v Swansea City, December 2017 Anfield witnessed a Firmino no-look goal for the first time in December 2017 when Liverpool thrashed Swansea City 5-0 on Boxing Day
Already on the scoresheet with the Reds 3-0 up, he scored his second of the day after Salah had pounced on a misplaced pass, keeping pace with the Egyptian before slotting home his square pass into the empty net
Liverpool v West Ham United, February 2018 Running onto Emre Can's chipped through-ball, the Brazilian nutmegs onrushing goalkeeper Adrian with his first touch before sidefooting into the unguarded net
Liverpool v Arsenal, December 2018 Arguably the least-glamorous, a defensive mix-up gifts Firmino his most-recent 'no-look' goal
After a Salah shot is blocked, Stephan Lichtsteiner's clearance cannons back off Shkodran Mustafi's chest into the forward's past, leaving him with the easiest of close-range finishes
Don't change, Roberto. Anfield has been dazzled by dozens of footballers over the years but none have been quite like the forward
His efforts may not always be universally recognised but there is a reason why he is one of the first names on the teamsheet each week
Supporters in his homeland are only just realising how good a player Firmino is
While he was scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal, compatriot Gabriel Jesus was trending on Twitter back in Brazil as fans bemoaned the Manchester City striker starting at last summer's World Cup ahead of the Liverpool man
Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now And while he might not be Liverpool's main striker anymore, the Brazilian remains just as pivotal to Klopp's side
Firmino's new position leaves it unlikely he will better last season's tally of 27 goals as the Reds hunt down a maiden Premier League title but he doesn't need to
The Kop will carry on signing "Give the ball to Bobby and he will score." Even if he's not looking when he does it
