hi everyone j7409 here with a quick weather update for you I know a lot of
you are traveling I know a lot of you have New Year's Eve plans and New Year's
Day plans well I want to give you a quick update because we have some severe
weather we're going to have to watch plus we got another storm coming then
and there's going to be more snow of course this is the GFS map courtesy of
tropical tidbits let's turn it on and let me get this out for you
we got a new storm system dropping in across the Pacific Northwest now it's
going to advance gradually southeast and inland across the Intermountain region
for tonight and tomorrow now this system is going to be bringing a new round of
rain along the coast and some heavy snow for the higher terrain including the
Cascades and the central and northern rockies now some locations over the far
northern rockies including the bitterroots will see as much as 1 to 2
feet of new snow going through tomorrow sunday now by New Year's Eve the
moisture and energy associated with this system is going to quickly advance east
out across the Northern Plains and the Upper Midwest and a little strip of
light to moderate snow and perhaps even some of that nasty freezing rain will
impact these areas making for locally hazardous travel conditions and
meanwhile much colder air will filter south in behind this system with many
areas in the Intermountain West and the high plains high temperatures well below
freezing as much as 15 to 25 degrees below normal
now father east the weather will again tend to trend to much milder
temperatures it's very mild at my house rainy today I do see the Sun yesterday
was an awful and yes it's going to be wetter has this
storm system develops over the Lower Mississippi Valley region on New Year's
Eve it should lift north up across the lower Great Lakes region
now southerly flow ahead of the low Center and attendant cold front will
result in notably warmer temperatures lifting north from the Gulf Coast states
now when this happens it's going to overspread much of the eastern half of
the nation high temperatures especially along and
just west of the Appalachian including the Tennessee and Ohio valleys will be
as much as 15 to 25 degrees above normal on New Year's Eve now with the influx of
warmer air it will also be a substantial amount of moisture and the expectation
is for rather widespread areas of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms to
impact the southern and eastern United States from the lower around the middle
Mississippi Valley area east to the Ohio Valley in the Mid Atlantic region now
some localized runoff and flooding concerns it's going to happen folks and
the rain we could get anywhere from one to three inches of rain with this next
system and it's going to cause a risk of excessive rainfall and flooding ok
there's going to be a local this is important a localized concern for some
severe weather especially across the Gulf states just like we went through a
few days ago and this is where it's looking like the most concerns for heavy
rainfall and severe weather will both need to be closely monitored over the
next couple of days so down in this area as the days faster you can see right in
here heavy heavy rain could have severe
storms all the way up from Texas across Louisiana and Mississippi Alabama
Georgia South Carolina Florida North Carolina it just depends how fast this
system moves out looking like though there is going to be a good risk for
severe weather around New Year's Eve and New Year's or just maybe a little
laughter we'll have to see how fast it moves for these areas we got snow coming
in here and of course it's going to be spreading across this area bringing more
snow to places that's already received a lot so with that all said and done don't
forget to subscribe I'd appreciate it so much click that subscribe button in the
