Waching daily Sep 1 2018

Unai Emery has revealed that Mesut Ozil has been asked to play on the right wing for Arsenal

The 29-year-old was primarily used in the No.10 role during Arsene Wenger's reign but Emery is demanding the midfielder to be more flexible in his new system

Emery has denied that he and Ozil were involved in a bust-up in training last week – an incident which reportedly led to the German being left out of the matchday squad for the 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday

But the Arsenal manager has told Ozil that he will continue to be switched between the No

10 role and a position on the right flank.  'I like the possibility to have the player play different positions on the pitch,' said Emery

'It depends each match on us and on the opposition.  'Mesut played with me on the right wing and also as No

10 and we are going to continue to do that.  'It's about where he is better for us and where he is better [used], thinking also about the opposition's style to play

'Our demands are very high, very great.  I want to ask every player every day to give us more, not just Mesut, but the team, the squad

'We need to push, we need to have ambition, we need to have desire to improve every day

'I spoke with him about his best position on the pitch and I know he can play on the right and as the No

10 player.  'Mesut in his career he played as a No.10 and on the right.  'When he was playing in Madrid, I remember a lot of matches on the right

His quality is for playing between the lines and attacking.  'He wants that I can use him for two positions

The most important is his mentality for helping the team with his quality and his performance

The National for Friday August 31, 2018 — NAFTA, Pipeline Reaction, E-Cigarettes - Duration: 46:39.

>> Rosemary: ON THIS FRIDAY

NIGHT, NO DEAL FOR NOW.

NAFTA NEGOTIATIONS ON HOLD WITH

NO AGREEMENT REACHED.

THEY'RE TAKING THE LONG WEEKEND

TO REGROUP AND MAYBE EVEN COOL

OFF.

CHRYSTIA FREELAND SAYS A GOOD

DEAL IS STILL VERY MUCH IN

SIGHT, BUT DID DONALD TRUMP'S

OFF-THE-RECORD COMMENTS SOUR THE

TALKS.

>>> THE WAIT FOR THE TRANS

MOUNTAIN PIPELINE GETS LONGER

WHILE PATIENCE WEARS THIN.

PLUS, COULD A NEW PLAYER IN THE

E-CIGARETTE MARKET CHANGE THE

GAME?

NOT JUST FOR ADULTS APPARENTLY.

THIS IS "THE NATIONAL".

[ * ]

>> Rosemary: IF A NAFTA DEAL IS

REACHED AND THAT IS STILL AN IF

AT THIS STAGE, IT MAY BE IN

SPITE OF THE U.S. PRESIDENT AND

NOT BECAUSE OF HIM.

THE TALKS AREN'T OVER, BUT THEY

HAVE BEEN PAUSED NOW UNTIL

WEDNESDAY.

AS KATIE SIMPSON TELLS US,

DONALD TRUMP OFF-THE-RECORD

MUSINGS WEREN'T HELPING THE

MOMENTUM.

>> YOU WILL ONLY AGREE TO A DEAL

THAT IS A GOOD DEAL FOR CANADA.

WE'RE NOT THERE YET.

>> Reporter: DONALD TRUMP HAD

THREATENED TO CUT CANADA OUT OF

NAFTA IF THE CANADIANS DIDN'T

SIGN ON TO A NEW DEAL BY TODAY.

BUT THAT HASN'T HAPPENED.

INSTEAD, THE PRESIDENT SENT A

LETTER TO CONGRESS SAYING WHEN

THE TALKS FINALLY WRAP UP, HE'S

READY TO APPROVE A NEW PACT WITH

MEXICO AND WITH CANADA IF IT IS

WILLING.

* YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU

WANT *

>> Reporter: THE PRESIDENT WAS

600 KILOMETRES FROM THE

NEGOTIATING TABLE, BUT HIS

PRESENCE LOOMED.

HE HAD TO DEFEND HIMSELF AFTER

COMMENTS MADE OFF THE RECORD

ENDED UP BEING PUBLISHED.

>> President Donald Trump: ENDED

UP MAKING STATEMENTS ABOUT

CANADA, WHICH IS FINE.

>> Reporter: TRUMP SAID HE WOULD

NOT MAKE ANY NAFTA CONCESSIONS

TO CANADA, ADDING IF HE SAID

THAT PUBLICLY, CANADA WOULD BE

TOO INSULTED TO SIGN A DEAL.

>> President Donald Trump: I

SAID IN THE END, IT'S OK BECAUSE

AT LEAST CANADA KNOWS HOW I

FEEL.

IT'S FINE.

>> Reporter: CANADIAN

NEGOTIATORS CONFRONTED THE U.S.

ABOUT THE COMMENTS, BUT LATER

SAID THAT TRUMP'S VIEWS WERE NOT

BEING MIRRORED AT THE TABLE.

>> AMBASSADOR LIGHTHIZER AND HIS

TEAM HAVE BEEN NEGOTIATING IN

GOOD FAITH AND WITH GOODWILL.

>> Reporter: THAT GOODWILL IS

GOING TO BE TESTED WHEN

NEGOTIATORS SIT DOWN AGAIN NEXT

WEEK.

THE U.S. IS PUSHING FOR CANADA

TO ALLOW FARMERS TO SELL MORE

DAIRY PRODUCTS NORTH OF THE

BORDER, WHILE CANADA IS REFUSING

TO BACK DOWN ON DEMANDS THE U.S.

DROP ITS REQUEST TO KILL THE

DISPUTE RESOLUTION SYSTEM.

>> Prime Minister Justin

Trudeau: WE HAVE BEEN VERY CLEAR

ABOUT WHERE OUR RED LINES ARE.

WE'VE BEEN CLEAR WHERE WE THINK

THERE IS ROOM FOR GIVE-AND-TAKE.

THIS IS SOMETHING WE TAKE

SERIOUSLY AS A RENEGOTIATION.

WE UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WORKS.

>> Reporter: THE ONE THING THAT

EVERYONE AGREES ON, THEY'RE

READY FOR A BREAK.

NEGOTIATORS TRIED TO CRAM WEEKS

OF WORK INTO FOUR DAYS AND THEY

DIDN'T QUITE GET THERE.

>> Rosemary: WHERE IS MEXICO IN

ALL OF THIS, DO THEY NEED TO GET

BACK TO THE TABLE, TOO?

>> Reporter: THE MEXICANS WERE

SPOTTED AT THE CANADIAN EMBASSY

FOR MEETINGS, BUT THEY'RE NOT

EXPECTED TO REENTER THE

NEGOTIATIONS UNTIL CANADA AND

THE U.S. DEALS WITH THEIR

ISSUES.

>> Rosemary: THE U.S. CAPITOL

BUILDING WHERE MUCH WILL BE

DECIDED IN THE COMING WEEKS

AFTER U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD

TRUMP SENT A LETTER TO MEMBERS

STATING HIS INTENTION TO

EVENTUALLY INK A DEAL WITH

CANADA.

THE FIRST BIG DATE TO WATCH.

THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER

5.

THAT'S WHEN CANADIAN AND

AMERICAN NEGOTIATORS GO BACK AT

IT.

THE LETTER THEN SAYS THAT OVER

THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, MEMBERS OF

CONGRESS AND BUSINESS LEADERS

SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A LOOK AT

THE AGREEMENT.

IT OFFERS NO SPECIFIC DATES,

THOUGH.

AND IF ALL GOES WELL, TRUMP

INTENDS TO SIGN A TRADE

AGREEMENT WITH CANADA AND MEXICO

90 DAYS FROM TODAY, WHICH IS

NOVEMBER 29.

OBVIOUSLY, THERE ARE NO

GUARANTEES OF A DEAL AT ALL.

THE AMERICANS SEEM TO BE CONTENT

TO KEEP PLAYING HARDBALL, BUT

CANADA, TOO, HAS ITS STICKING

POINTS.

CHAPTER 19, NAFTA'S DISPUTE

RESOLVING MECHANISM ALLOWS

COUNTRIES TO WORK OUT

DISAGREEMENTS THROUGH A NEUTRAL

PANEL.

THE AMERICANS WANT TO SCRAP IT,

CANADA IS ADAMANT IT STAYS.

AND THERE IS THE $20 BILLION

DAIRY SECTOR.

TRUMP WANTS OTTAWA TO REMOVE

PROTECTIONS AND OPEN IT UP, BUT

WITH OVER 200,000 JOBS ON THE

LINE AND CONCERNS OF CHEAP

AMERICAN DAIRY FLOODING NORTH,

CANADA IS UNLIKELY TO BUDGE.

AND THEN THERE IS CANADA'S

CULTURAL INDUSTRY.

>> THEY TEND TO SEE CULTURAL

MATTERS AS EVERYTHING ELSE AS

SOMETHING WITH A DOLLAR SIGN ON

IT.

>> Rosemary: IT'S NEVER BEEN

EASY TO COMPETE WITH THE GIANT

NEXT DOOR.

>> FULL SUPPORT OF THE FREE

TRADE.

>> Rosemary: THAT'S WHY CANADA

INSISTED ON AND WON KEY CULTURAL

EXEMPTIONS BACK IN 1987, LIKE

CONTENT QUOTA, GOVERNMENT

SUBSIDIES AND STRICT RULES ON

FOREIGN OWNERSHIP.

THEY AUTOMATICALLY CARRIED OVER

INTO NAFTA AND WORKED WELL AND

HELPED LAUNCH SUCCESSFUL

CAREERS.

BUT AS POLITICS AND TECHNOLOGY

CHANGE, ARE THE EXEMPTIONS IN

DANGER.

JEROME PAYETTE IS WITH A GROUP

COMMITTED TO PROTECTING THEM.

>> IF WE GO & THERE IS NOT ANY

WAY TO SUPPORT OUR ACTORS, OUR

CREATORS, OUR PRODUCERS, OUR

PUBLISHERS, THEY WILL BE IN

SERIOUS TROUBLE, BECAUSE THE

U.S.A. IS A POWER HOUSE

REGARDING CULTURE.

SO THEY CREATE A LOT.

VERY GOOD CONTENT THAT WE CANNOT

COMPETE WITHOUT GOVERNMENT

SUPPORT.

>> Rosemary: JUST ANOTHER

STICKING POINT FOR CANADIAN

NEGOTIATORS TO KEEP IN MIND

BEFORE TALKS RESUME NEXT WEEK.

WE'RE AT THE END OF WHAT HAS

SURELY BEEN ONE OF THE MOST

CHALLENGING WEEKS OF TRUDEAU'S

GOVERNMENT BETWEEN NAFTA AND THE

PIPELINE.

THE HOST OF "POWER AND

POLITICS", VASSY KAPELOS JOINS

ME NOW.

I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN REACHING OUT

TO PEOPLE IN GOVERNMENT.

>> Vassy: THERE ARE A LOT OF

CONCERNS ON THE PART OF PEOPLE

I'VE BEEN SPEAKING TO IN

GOVERNMENT.

NOT JUST ABOUT NAFTA, BUT

ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE PIPELINE

FILE.

THAT DECISION WAS A BIG BLOW TO

THE MANTRA THAT THEY REALLY GOT

ELECTED ON, THAT WE'VE HEARD SO

MANY TIMES FROM JUSTIN TRUDEAU,

THE IDEA THAT THE ENVIRONMENT

CAN BE PROTECTED WHILE THE

ECONOMY CAN GROW AT THE SAME

TIME.

AND THIS COURT DECISION PROVIDES

THE BIGGEST TEST OF THAT ALMOST

CAMPAIGN SLOGAN WE'VE HEARD OVER

AND OVER AGAIN.

PEOPLE IN GOVERNMENT ARE

CONCERNED THAT THEY WILL FAIL

THAT TEST.

ON THE NAFTA FILE, I MEAN THERE

IS SOME SORT OF MITIGATED

OPTIMISM I GUESS YOU COULD SAY.

CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM.

IT'S NOT THE WORST-CASE SCENARIO

FOR SURE.

THINGS DIDN'T FALL APART, BUT

IT'S ALSO NOT THE BEST-CASE

SCENARIO AND SOURCES I'VE SPOKEN

TO ARE WORRIED ABOUT HOW FAR

APART THEY ARE ON THE STICKING

POINTS.

>> Rosemary: WHAT IS THE PLAN TO

MOVE FORWARD, IF THERE IS ONE?

>> IT'S A DIFFICULT ONE, ON

NAFTA, IF THEY GET THE BEST-CASE

SCENARIO, THEY HAVE TO TRY TO

SELL THE CONCESSIONS THEY MAKE

DOMESTICALLY.

ON THE PIPELINE FILE, THEY HAVE

TO FIGURE OUT, CAN THEY APPEAL

IT OR START CONSULTATIONS ALL

OVER AGAIN?

THEY FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE HANDED

THE OPPOSITION A GIFT TWO WEEKS

FROM PARLIAMENT AND YEAR OUT

FROM AN ELECTION.

>> Rosemary: THANK YOU FOR THIS

TONIGHT.

NOW THE PRIME MINISTER WAS ASKED

ABOUT THE PIPELINE PROJECT TODAY

AND HE REPEATED THAT CANADA'S

CHANGING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE

UNITED STATES MAKES IT MORE

IMPORTANT THAN EVER.

>> Prime Minister Justin

Trudeau: I THINK WITH EVERYTHING

THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON, PEOPLE

CAN KIND OF UNDERSTAND THAT

HAVING ONLY THE UNITED STATES AS

A MARKET FOR 99% OF OUR OIL

RESOURCES SIMPLY DOESN'T MAKE

SENSE ANYMORE AND THAT'S WHY

WE'VE ALWAYS BELIEVED THAT

THE -- WE BELIEVE THAT THE TRANS

MOUNTAIN PIPELINE EXPANSION IS

IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF ALL

CANADIANS.

>> Rosemary: SO, TRUDEAU IS

OBVIOUSLY IT STICKING TO THE

SAME MESSAGE, THE GOVERNMENT

MESSAGE THERE.

BUT DESPITE THE COURT DECISION,

PUTTING THE PIPELINE IN LEGAL

LIMBO.

HOW IS IT GOING OVER WITH

CANADIANS?

PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO WORK AND

LIVE IN THE OIL PATCH?

CAROLYN DUNN HAS THEIR REACTION.

>> Reporter: CHECK OUT THE

LATEST PURCHASE, CANADIANS.

AS OF TODAY, YOU OWN THIS

TERMINAL AND A LIST OF TRANS

MOUNTAIN PIPELINE ASSETS.

OF COURSE, CONSTRUCTION IS

HALTED NOW AND THE WHOLE

SITUATION HAS MANY ALBERTANS

FEELING BETRAYED.

>> I FELT LIKE PROMISES WERE

KIND OF LET GO.

IT WAS JUST THE BIG BLOW.

>> Reporter: AT THE IRON WORKERS

LOCAL 720, OTTAWA IS THE MAIN

TARGET OF THEIR RESENTMENT.

>> A LOT OF MEMBERS FEELING

ANGER AT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT,

FEELING THEY COULD DO MORE.

TO ME, IT'S DISAPPOINTMENT.

A LITTLE BIT OF ANGER.

AND I THINK FEAR AS WELL.

>> Reporter: A SIMILAR SENTIMENT

FROM THE SOARING OFFICE TOWERS

IN CALGARY'S OIL AND GAS DRIVEN

DOWNTOWN.

>> I THINK IT'S EMBARRASSING FOR

CANADA THAT OUR FEDERAL

GOVERNMENT HAS SPENT $4.5

BILLION AND NOW WE'RE AN

EMBARRASSMENT TO THE WORLD ON

THIS.

>> Reporter: THE ALBERTA PREMIER

WHO BANKED HER REPUTATION ON

GETTING THE PIPELINE BUILT, SAYS

PULLING OUT OF THE FEDERAL

CLIMATE CHANGE PLAN IS THE MOST

EFFECTIVE AMMUNITION, BUT NOTLEY

IS THE TARGET OF ANGER FROM

PROVINCIAL OPPOSITION LEADER

JASON KENNEY.

HE SAYS SHE SHOULD BE DEMANDING

EVERYTHING FOR THINGS LIKE JOB

TRAINING AND INFRASTRUCTURE.

>> SO IF THE PREMIER WAS REALLY

SERIOUS ABOUT ASSERTING

ALBERTA'S INTERESTS, THERE IS A

LONG LIST OF REAL ACTION THAT

SHE COULD TAKE.

>> Reporter: BRITISH COLUMBIA

DOESN'T ESCAPE THE

FINGER-POINTING EITHER.

>> THIS, TO ME, JUST SMACKS OF

PACIFIC PRIVILEGE.

THIS SMACKS OF BURNABY

ARROGANCE.

AND THAT CONCERNS ME.

THERE IS A BROADER CONTEXT TO

THIS AND THAT IS THAT THE OIL

SUPPLY THAT ALBERTA PROVIDES

REALLY IS IN THE NATIONAL

INTEREST.

>> Reporter: SO WHAT IS NEXT?

THE PREMIER'S OFFICE TELLS US

TRUDEAU LISTENED TO NOTLEY

YESTERDAY, BUT OTTAWA HAS YET TO

MAKE COMMITMENTS ABOUT ITS WAY

FORWARD.

THAT LEAVES MANY ALBERTANS

HEADING INTO THE LABOUR DAY

WEEKEND WORRIED, WONDERING WHAT

IS TO COME.

>> Rosemary: SO AFTER ADDRESSING

HER PROVINCE LAST NIGHT, WHAT

DOES RACHEL NOTLEY, THE PREMIER

OF ALBERTA THINK TODAY?

I SPOKE WITH HER EARLIER.

>> Rosemary: PREMIER, GOOD TO

SEE YOU.

WERE YOU WRONG TO BELIEVE THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WHEN IT SAID

IT COULD GET THIS PIPELINE

BUILT?

>> UM, YOU KNOW, I THINK NONE OF

US EXPECTED THE FEDERAL COURT OF

APPEAL TO MAKE THE FINDINGS THAT

IT DID.

YOU KNOW.

AND I STILL BELIEVE THAT WE CAN

GET THIS PIPELINE BUILT.

BUT WHAT I DO BELIEVE IS THAT

WE'RE AT THE POINT NOW THAT THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO

HAVE TO USE ITS LEGISLATIVE

AUTHORITY TO MAKE SURE IT

HAPPENS IN A TIMELY AND

REASONABLE WAY.

AND SO THAT IS WHAT WE'RE ASKING

FOR.

YOU KNOW, TAKING ACTION TO FIGHT

CLIMATE CHANGE IS FUNDAMENTALLY

IMPORTANT, BUT WE'VE ALWAYS SAID

IT HAS TO GO HAND IN HAND WITH

ENSURING ECONOMIC STRENGTH AND

PROSPERITY AND CREATING JOBS AND

THAT'S WHY WE NEED TO GET THERE

PIPELINE BUILT.

WE NEED TO GET A FAIR RETURN FOR

THE RESOURCES WE HAVE HERE IN

ALBERTA, WHICH MAKE UP SUCH A

SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF OUR

CANADIAN ECONOMY.

AND WITH THAT, WE CAN AFFORD TO

MOVE FORWARD ON CLIMATE CHANGE,

BUT NOT WITHOUT.

>> Rosemary: YOU'VE SAID THAT

YOU ARE GOING TO LEAVE THE

FEDERAL CARBON PRICING PLAN IF

IT'S NOT DONE.

THE PRIME MINISTER SAID AGAIN

TODAY HE'S GOING TO IMPOSE THE

FEDERAL PLAN FOR PROVINCES WHO

DON'T SIGN ON, WHICH MEANS THAT

ALBERTA GETS NO SAY IN HOW THE

REVENUE IS USED, NO CREDIT FOR

DOING IT, HOW IS IS THAT A GOOD

THING FOR YOUR PROVINCE?

>> THE ADDITIONAL ACTIONS THAT

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WANTS TO

TAKE, THAT WE AGREE WITH, TO

COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE, THEY HAVE

TO WORK.

I MEAN, THEORETICALLY YOU COULD

HAVE A 200-TON CHARGE FOR

CARBON, BUT IT WOULDN'T WORK

BECAUSE THE ECONOMY WOULD FAIL.

AND OUR POSITION ALL ALONG HAS

BEEN THAT MOVING TO THE

ADDITIONAL PRICES THAT THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WANTS TO

WON'T WORK IF WE DON'T MAKE

SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS ON

STRENGTHENING OUR ECONOMIC

FRAMEWORK AND OUR ECONOMIC

FOUNDATIONS, PARTICULARLY IN

ALBERTA, WHICH IS OF COURSE THE

BIGGEST EMITTER IN THE COUNTRY.

THAT'S WHAT THE PIPELINE WAS

ABOUT.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, I SUPPOSE

THEY CAN IMPOSE IT, BUT WHAT

WE'RE SAYING STRONGLY, IT WON'T

WORK, UNLESS WE GET THE

PIPELINE.

AND THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE A BIG

FIGHT OVER IT.

QUITE FRANKLY, THAT'S NOT THE

POSITION WE WANT TO BE IN.

>> Rosemary: WOULDN'T BE THE

FASTEST WAY TO GET THE PIPELINE

BUILT IS TO RESPOND TO THE

FEDERAL COURT, TAKE THE

SUGGESTIONS THE COURT HAS MADE,

IMPLEMENT THEM, INSTEAD OF

APPEALING TO THE SUPREME COURT

WHICH WOULD PROBABLY TAKE

LONGER?

>> THE DIFFICULTY WITH THE WAY

THE FEDERAL COURT OF APPEAL

OUTLINED WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN,

IT'S EFFECTIVELY APPEARS AS IF

THEY WANT US TO RESTART THE NEB

PROCESS.

WITH THAT COMES JUST SO MANY

POSSIBLE AREAS OF MORE

UNCERTAINTY AND MORE PROBLEMS.

AND THAT IS WHY WE NEED THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE

LEGISLATIVE ACTION.

>> Rosemary: LET ME JUST END ON

THIS.

DO YOU THINK IT'S GOING TO

HAPPEN, THE PIPELINE?

>> I'M SAYING THAT IT NEEDS TO

HAPPEN, AND THAT IT IS TOO

STUPID FOR IT NOT TO HAPPEN.

SO IT IS NOW TIME FOR THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO MAKE IT

HAPPEN.

>> Rosemary: PREMIER NOTLEY,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TONIGHT.

APPRECIATE IT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> Andrew: AS YOUR KIDS HEAD

BACK TO SCHOOL, THERE IS A

GROWING TREND AND A

CONTROVERSIAL NEW PRODUCT THAT

IS COMING TO CANADA.

>> THIS IS COMING TO EPIDEMIC

PROPORTIONS AND IT'S DANGEROUS.

>> Andrew: DON MEREDITH IS A MOM

OF FOUR.

ONE OF HER TARGETS, THE BIGGEST

PLAYER IN THE GAME, A COMPANY

CALLED JUUL.

AND ITS SLEEK GADGETS THAT

DELIVER BIG HITS OF NICOTINE.

>> I KNOW WHAT THESE TEENS ARE

DOING.

>> Andrew: THE U.S. FOOD AND

DRUG ADMINISTRATION IS

INVESTIGATING WHETHER THE

INDUSTRY DELIBERATELY LURES

TEENS INTO VAPING.

IT'S ASKED JUUL TO HAND OVER

DOCUMENTS ON ITS MARKETING

STRATEGY.

AMID THAT CONTROVERSY, JUUL IS

COMING TO CANADA IN SEPTEMBER.

IT MARKETS ITSELF TO ADULT

SMOKER WHO WANT TO QUIT TOBACCO.

AND INDEED, THE WAY THE COMPANY

PORTRAYS THEIR CLIENTELE,

THEY'RE CLEARLY ADULTS.

BUT SEARCH JUUL ON SOCIAL MEDIA,

YOU'LL SEE THIS.

LOTS OF BRIGHT SHINY IMAGES OF

YOUNGER PEOPLE.

AS KATIE NICHOLSON SHOWS US,

WHILE

>> Reporter: IT MAY LOOK LIKE

THERE GUY IS SUCKING ON USB

KEYS, THIS IS THE JUUL STEM.

>> IT LOOKS LIKE A USB STICK.

THIS IS THE BUSINESS END.

IT LOOKS LIKE A USB STICK AND

CHARGES LIKE ONE, TOO.

SNAP IT INTO YOUR COMPUTER.

>> IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR

KIDS VAPING, THIS IS YOUR

NIGHTMARE.

THIS GENERALLY HAS TWO OR THREE

TIMES THE NICOTINE CONCENTRATION

OF OTHER E-CIGARETTES.

IT'S SO HIGH THEY COULDN'T SELL

THIS IN ENGLAND WHERE THEY HAVE

LIMITATIONS ON THE NICOTINE

CONTENT.

>> Reporter: HE SAYS THE PRODUCT

SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM MINORS,

BUT THE FLAVORS APPEAL TO THE

YOUNG.

>> YOU CAN SEE WHY IT'S MORE

POPULAR AMONG KIDS.

>> Reporter: THE U.S. DRUG

ADMINISTERS IS INVESTIGATING,

TRYING TO DETERMINE IF IT

TARGETS TEENS.

>> FRIENDS ARE ADDICTED TO THE

JUUL, MEANING THEY'RE USING IT

EVERY HOUR OF THE DAY.

>> Reporter: JACK WAXMAN WAS SO

DISTURBED BY THE EFFECT ON HIS

FELLOW STUDENTS, HE STARTED THIS

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.

>> I JUULED PRETTY MUCH EVERY

MOMENT I WASN'T IN CLASS.

>> Reporter: WAXMAN SAYS KIDS AS

YOUNG AS GRADE 6 GOT HOOKED ON

JUULING.

>> HE WENT TO THE BATHROOM IN

ANY PART OF SCHOOL, IT WAS JUST

FLOODED WITH GROUPS OF KIDS,

BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS, USING THESE

DEVICES.

>> MY KIDS HAVE TRIED USING

CIGARETTES AND IT'S BECAUSE

THEY'VE BEEN JUULING, THEY THINK

IT'S OK TO USE CIGARETTES.

>> Reporter: THAT'S PRECISELY

WHAT WORRIES THE CANADIAN CANCER

SOCIETY.

ESPECIALLY IN ONTARIO WHERE

E-CIGARETTE LEGISLATION WAS

CANNED.

>> KIDS WILL BE EXPOSED TO

PROMOTIONS AND DISPLAYS IN

CONVENIENCE STORES NEAR SCHOOLS.

>> Reporter: HEALTH CANADA SAYS

IT MAY INTRODUCE MORE

RESTRICTIONS TO KEEP VAPE ADS

AWAY FROM TEENS.

BUT FOR A GENERATION THAT LIVES

AND DIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA, IT MAY

ALREADY BE TOO LATE.

>> Andrew: CANADA'S NEW

REGULATIONS ON VAPING CAME INTO

EFFECT IN MAY.

THE PRODUCTS CAN BE LEGALLY SOLD

TO PEOPLE 19 AND OLDER, BUT THE

GOVERNMENT SAYS THIS ABOUT THEIR

USE.

COMPLETELY REPLACING CIGARETTE

SMOKING WITH A VAPING PRODUCT

WILL REDUCE YOUR EXPOSURE TO

HARMFUL CHEMICALS, HOWEVER, IF

YOU ARE NOT A SMOKER, VAPING CAN

INCREASE YOUR EXPOSURE TO SOME

HARMFUL SUBSTANCES THAT COULD

NEGATIVELY AFFECT YOUR HEALTH.

IT'S STILL AN OPEN QUESTION WHAT

THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF VAPING

ARE, BUT A STUDY SUGGESTED THAT

VAPING WITH OR WITHOUT NICOTINE,

CAN INCREASE INFLAMMATION.

THEN THERE IS THE NICOTINE IN

PRODUCTS LIKE JUUL.

TEENS ARE ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE.

SAYS THE FDA COMMISSIONER, AS WE

KNOW THE NICOTINE IN THESE

PRODUCTS CAN REWIRE AN

ADOLESCE

ADOLESCENT'S BRAIN, LEADING TO

YEARS OF ADDICTION.

>>> ANOTHER BLOW TO DONALD

>> AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, IF

CIVIL RIGHTS, HUMAN RIGHTS AND

JUST DECENCY.

>> Andrew: McCAIN'S FUNERAL WILL

BE HELD TOMORROW.

FORMER PRESIDENTS BARACK OBAMA

AND GEORGE W. BUSH ARE EXPECTED

TO SPEAK.

>> Rosemary: STILL AHEAD, THE

BUT WE'LL GET YOU CAUGHT UP ON

THE DECISION IS AMID A TOUGH

WEEK FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

PRESSURE IS BUILDING MAKING SURE

ABUSERS ARE HELD TO ACCOUNT.

JUST LAST WEEK THE POPE WAS MET

WITH ANGER DURING A VISIT TO

IRELAND.

THAT KIND OF TRAUMA CAN RIPPLE

FAR AND WIDE, INCLUDING FAMILY

MEMBERS OF THE ABUSERS

THEMSELVES.

TONIGHT, OUR SHORT DOC

INTRODUCES YOU TO A DAUGHTER OF

A FATHER SERVING 29 YEARS FOR

SEXUAL ABUSE.

HOW DO YOU CONTINUE TO LOVE

SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE SUCH

TERRIBLE THINGS.

HERE'S "BETWEEN YOU AND ME".

>> PEOPLE ASK ME ALL THE TIME IF

I'VE FORGIVEN HIM AND I DON'T

KNOW HOW TO ANSWER THAT.

BUT I CAN SAY THAT I LOVE HIM.

AND THAT IT'S HARD TO LOVE

SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE TERRIBLE

THINGS.

BUT THE TERRIBLE THINGS DON'T

UNDO THE LOVE.

>> IT'S BEEN 13 YEARS AND I'VE

NEVER GOTTEN NERVOUS.

>> WHAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT IN

TERMS OF GOING IN ACTUALLY, IS

THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT

SOMETHING ABOUT OUR OUTFITS

MIGHT BE WRONG, OR LIKE --

>> OK.

>> AND SO I'M HOPING THAT MAYBE

YOU TWO STAY IN THE PARKING LOT

--

>> YEAH.

WELL YOU'LL SEE US GO IN.

>> HERE'S HOW THIS WILL GO.

THESE PANTS ARE THE PARKING LOT.

THEN WE'LL DRIVE INTO THE

PARKING LOT AND WALK UP TO THIS

BUILDING HERE.

EVERYONE WILL LINE UP HERE OUT

IN FRONT AND WE'LL GO IN.

CAMERAS WON'T BE ABLE TO COME IN

HERE.

THIS IS WHERE THEY'LL DECIDE IF

IT'S APPROPRIATE THAT WE HAVE

THE DOCUMENTATION WE NEED.

IF WE DON'T HAVE IT, WE'LL COME

BACK OUT TO THE PARKING LOT.

IF WE GO THROUGH, YOU'LL SEE US

COME OUT THE SIDE DOOR AND WALK

DOWN A PATH.

MY DAD'S BUILDING IS OVER HERE.

WE'LL GO IN HERE AND THEN WE'LL

BE GONE.

ALL WE CAN TAKE IN ARE 10 PHOTOS

EACH.

>> AND NOTHING LIKE THIS IS

GOING TO GET US --

>> NO.

YOU CAN'T HAVE PICTURES OF

ALCOHOL, NUDITY.

AND YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY HALF

CLOTHED CHILDREN, DUE TO THE

NATURE OF THE OFFENCE.

[ * ]

EVERY TWO YEARS OF MY ENTIRE

LIFE WE WENT TO THE SAME BEACH.

WE DID THE SAME THING EVERY

YEAR.

EVERYTHING WAS RITUALIZED.

WHAT WE ATE, WHERE WE WENT, THE

FAMILY PHOTO WE TOOK.

>> THIS IS OUR 9TH YEAR.

>> WE WALK OUT IN FRONT OF THE

SAME SIGN AND ASSEMBLE THE SAME

WAY.

FOR 35 YEARS.

>> IT WAS EASTER AND MY MOM

CALLED AND SHE WAS CRYING AND

SHE TOLD US SOMETHING REALLY BAD

HAD HAPPENED.

IT STARTED OUT AS THIS

HYPOTHETICAL THING AND THEN IT

TURNED OUT HE TOLD HIS BISHOP,

TOLD HIS THERAPIST, TOLD MY MOM

AND HE CONFESSED.

>> AND THEN THE NEXT THING YOU

KNOW, HE WAS MOVING ACROSS THE

COUNTRY TO ATLANTA, AND GOING

INTO THIS SEX OFFENDER

REHABILITATION PROGRAMME.

IT ALL FELT REALLY UNBELIEVABLE.

>> IT WAS RIGHT AFTER THE BOSTON

PRIEST TRIALS, WHERE CATHOLIC

PRIESTS HAD BEEN INDICTED FOR

MOLESTING ALTAR BOYS.

IT BECAME CLEAR THAT DAD WAS

GOING TO BE THE FIRST RELIGIOUS

FIGURE ON THE WEST COAST THAT

WAS GOING TO BE PROSECUTED.

THE PROSECUTION INTERVIEWED OVER

150 PEOPLE FROM ALL OF MY DAD'S

CONGREGATIONS OVER THE LAST 20

YEARS.

SOMEONE CAME AND CONFISCATED ALL

OF OUR CHILDHOOD VIDEOS.

IT WAS A REALLY SCARY TIME.

>> HERE WE HAVE THE WORRIED

FATHER.

PACING, WATCHING HIS DAUGHTER.

>> Reporter: WHAT I REMEMBER OF

THIS TIME IS THE BIG WITCH HUNT

OF TRYING TO FIND MORE BOYS.

IF THERE WERE MORE BOYS, THERE

WOULD BE A STRONGER CASE FOR A

LIFE SENTENCE.

ULTIMATELY, THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO

FIND MORE THAN ONE.

IT WAS JUST THIS ONE.

>> PEOPLE ASK, YOU KNOW, HOW DID

YOU START TALKING ABOUT THIS?

AND I SAY WITHIN A MONTH OF OUR

DATING, I STARTED DEAL WITH THE

SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN MY LIFE AND

BECCA CASE DAD WENT TO JAIL FOR

SEXUAL ABUSE.

>> I OFFERED THESE THINGS GOING

ON CURRENTLY IN MY MINE.

>> THE ONLY THING I REMEMBER

FROM THAT CONVERSATION WAS YOU

SAID, IT WAS ONLY A SHOWER.

AND MY RESPONSE TO YOU WAS, THAT

IN MY CASE, IT WAS ONLY A

MASSAGE.

>> ONE OF THE MOST STRIKING

MEMORIES I HAVE OF THIS

FRACTURED FEELING IS AT HIS

SENTENCING.

AT SOME POINT, HIS LAWYER SAID

CAN EVERYONE IN THE ROOM WHO IS

HERE FOR MICHAEL PLEASE STAND

UP?

AND THREE QUARTERS OF THE ROOM

STOOD UP.

AND I STOOD UP.

BECAUSE I WAS STANDING UP FOR

YOU, BECAUSE I LOVED YOU.

AND I STARED AT THE MOM OF THE

BOY WHO WAS ALSO IN THE ROOM.

>> IN THE ROOM.

>> AND I JUST LIKE IMAGINED WHAT

WOULD IT FEEL LIKE TO BE THAT

MOM WHO IS DEFENDING HER SON,

WHO IS A BOY, AND TO FEEL THREE

QUARTERS OF THE ROOM ENDORSE

THIS MAN'S CHARACTER?

AND IT STUCK WITH ME IN PART,

TOO, BECAUSE LIKE I WAS ONE OF

THOSE PEOPLE STANDING.

I'VE NEVER MADE TOTAL SENSE OF

THAT.

THAT INSTINCT TO STAND.

>> AND LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM

AND LOOKING AT THE FACES OF THE

PEOPLE THERE TO SUPPORT THAT

FAMILY, I FELT SIMILARLY TORN,

THINKING, I ALSO AM HERE TO

SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY AND MANY OF

THEM WERE WEARING SEXUAL

SURVIVORSHIP RIBBONS.

IT FELT VERY DIVIDED.

THE PEOPLE WITH THE RIBBONS

THERE FOR THE KIDS AND THE

PEOPLE WITHOUT THE RIBBONS THERE

FOR MY DAD.

I FELT THIS PROFOUND SENSE OF I

WANT A RIBBON.

I'M NOT ENDORSING MY FATHER'S

ACTIONS.

HE'S SAYING HE'S GUILTY.

PART OF ME WANTS TO KNOW, YOU

KNOW, DO YOU HAVE DESIRE OR

ADOLESCENT BOYS?

BUT THERE'S A PART OF ME THAT

DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW THAT.

I DIDN'T PICK MY QUEERNESS.

I WONDER IF MY ORIENTATION WAS

TRULY ORIENTED TOWARDS

ADOLESCENT BOY, HOW HARD THAT

WOULD BE IN LIFE.

>> THERE IS NO LIGHT.

>> YEAH, THERE IS.

>> IT SAYS RECORD.

>> WE'RE AT AL AND SALLY'S MOTEL

WITH A TORNADO WATCH.

>> COULD RANGE FROM 71 SAULT

STE. MARIE TO 90 IN CINCINNATI.

>> WHERE IS IT COMING FROM?

>> THE SIGN IS GOING TO FALL.

WE HAVE TO ZOOM IN.

THIS IS GOOD.

OH, MAN.

THEY HAVE BROKEN THE SIGN.

[LAUGHTER].

ARE YOU SEEING THIS?

SALLY IS DYING.

[LAUGHTER].

>> IT'S HARD TO LOVE SOMEONE WHO

HAS DONE TERRIBLE THINGS, BUT

THE TERRIBLE THINGS DON'T UNDO

THE LOVE.

TO STILL CRAVE CONNECTION, TO

STILL WANT THEM TO PARTICIPATE

IN MY LIFE, TO STILL LOVE HIM.

I DON'T FEEL LIKE THERE IS A LOT

OF ROOM IN THE WORLD TO HAVE

THAT CONVERSATION.

>> I KNOW YOU WORRY THIS WILL BE

FAILING TO DO THAT.

Sound Strategies for Hearing Health Video Series - Part Three: Great Financial Conversations - Duration: 3:56.

One of the most important conversations

you have with patients is the financial conversation.

This can be the defining moment during the patient's

decision-making journey when they choose

to move forward with your care recommendations or not.

I'm Randy Baldwin Vice President of Marketing for Hearing at CareCredit

and we welcome you to the third video in the

four-part series Sound Strategies for Hearing Health.

In the first two videos we shared practical ways CareCredit can

help you attract more patients and how to use the initial patient phone call

and your practice environment to set the foundation for hearing health care.

After the examination and hearing health recommendations the next important

patient conversation is about cost and payment options.

The key here is to be proactive so that the cost does not

become a barrier to patients receiving the care they want.

Give patients all the payment options upfront and let them

choose what's best for them. Don't wait

until they feel forced to ask for a payment solution.

Many may not. They just walk out of your practice tested, not treated.

CareCredit studied the decisions

patients make on their path to hearing health and found that the majority of

patients, 60%, use credit to pay for their hearing health.

And 44% said that if they were not able to use credit they will be less likely to choose hearing health.

Patients financial situations vary greatly.

In fact, the study found that the

average price point that would motivate a patient to apply for CareCredit range

from four hundred and ninety dollars to over three thousand dollars.

Let's see what a great financial conversation

might sound like and how using visual aids can help the patient understand and retain information .

Mr. Jones you spoke with the doctors or any questions I can answer for you?

No doctor answered all my questions.

Okay if one pops into your head please let me know.

Sounds good.

I've prepared a worksheet for you that details the

cost of the hearing instruments, what your insurance will contribute to the

cost, your payment responsibilities, and options for your out-of-pocket portion.

Would you like to take a look?

As you can see for the hearing technology recommended the cost is $2100 per hearing

device that brings your total cost for

the pair to $4200. The good news is your insurance will contribute $1200 towards

your hearing health. That leaves $3000 as your out-of-pocket investment.

To make it as easy as possible for our patients to get the hearing health they want

we have several payment options.

We accept cash and credit cards. We also accept the CareCredit health care credit card

because so many of our patients want to take advantage of promotional financing options.

When patients understand the benefits of CareCredit, many find it to be very valuable.

In fact, in a recent satisfaction survey

92% of card holders rated CareCredit a "good", "very good" or "excellent" value.

For more ways to present patient financing

and to get connected to free resources

that can help you reduce your tested not treated population visit CareCredit.com/SoundStrategies

or call 800-859- 9975.

The next video in this series Sound Strategies for Hearing Health will discuss how to effectively

follow up with patients who leave the practice tested, not treated.

We'll see you in our next video.

Arsenal news: Unai Emery demands Mesut Ozil to play for the team - Duration: 4:37.

Ozil was taken off from his central role in his last appearance against Chelsea and then missed the win over West Ham with illness

After a difficult week during which Ozil was attacked by his former Germany coach Joachim Loew, he is fit to return for tomorrow's visit to Cardiff

But Emery said his No10, who was always indulged by former manager Arsene Wenger, would not always be playing in his favoured position behind the main striker

"I like the possibility to have the player play different positions and then it depends each match for us and for the opposition," said Emery

"Mesut played with me on the right wing and also as No10 and we are going to continue to do that

"In his career he played as a 10 and on the right. When he was playing in Madrid, I remember a lot of matches on the right

His quality is for playing between the lines. "I spoke with him for his best position and he wants that I can use him for two positions

Every player in the squad plays in the position we need. "Our demands are very high, very great, but I want to ask every player every day to give us more – not just Mesut, the team, the squad

We need to push, we need to have ambition, we need to have desire to improve every day

This is my message for the team, for the squad and for every player." Former PSG manager Emery did not deny he had spoken to Ozil earlier this year before the German signed a new contract and the Spaniard believes international retirement will help his domestic form

"It's a respite for him and allows him to continue to enjoy his job because we all need to enjoy our jobs," he said

"We want to help him to stay with us in the best possible way."  Emery won the Europa League three times with Sevilla and saw his Arsenal side drawn with Sporting Lisbon, Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava and Qarabag of Azerbaijan yesterday

Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed Borussia Dortmund's trip to the former Soviet republic in 2015 because of an ongoing conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan

As Arsenal arrive in Wales, Neil Warnock, the Cardiff manager, has promised he will not park the bus despite facing a daunting fixture list

After Arsenal, Cardiff face Chelsea and Manchester City in their next two games and Warnock, who has worked miracles to get them promoted, is determined to enjoy the ride

The Bluebirds have yet to score in their first three games back in the Premier League but it is not for the want of trying and Warnock says they will not be intimidated and just try to shut up shop

Warnock, who has led his side to two draws so far, said: "I want to do the best we can to give them a game in the other half as well as our own half

We'd get beat anyhow if we just sat back, so we want to give the fans something to cheer

"We've got Chelsea after this, then Man City, there's going to be times when we'll be stuck in our own half without trying to be

"Every game we've been in, we could have won. Even Bournemouth, we lost 2-0 but had a great chance to equalise on the hour and we had chances against Huddersfield and Newcastle

"We've just got to enjoy it. We knew it was going to be hard. We are a bit limited but we'll work with what we've got

"I'm not going to cry about that, we'll do the best we can with what we've got. The fans are behind us and have been superb

#JEFCOEDNIC: JEFCOED & SREB Network Improvement Community for Mathematics - Duration: 3:07.

I think the number one most important thing should be we're all here to help each other out.

I think math is important because, in any career choice that you choose, you're always

going to have to encounter math at some point and time.

I really think that math is very important.

I think that if you have a chance to take any classes, that you should always take them

because it will always help you in the future.

If I didn't have to take math, I still would because I want to learn how to do trigonometry.

I also want to be the first girl in my family to be able to go to college and to be successful.

I want to be my own business owner.

In order for me to do that I need to know how much amount I'm supposed to pay an hour

and how long I'm supposed to get.

Just the simple stuff about the money and stuff like that.

Even though life isn't about money, I still need the math, just in case.

I'd probably still take math classes because I know I'm going to need it in my future experiences.

Like when I do other work and things because it's going to be useful for me to understand

what I'm doing and how to get the proper calculations for whatever I'm doing.

If you have the chance to take a math class, take it.

I believe in a math class, we should have a little bit of inspiration and stories that

we can have an "I can" attitude instead of an "I can't."

A phrase I use is if there aren't any raindrops where is the rainbow going to be?
