in this video we're discussing why

cosplay is not consent and three ways

you can stay safe at Comic Cons it up

welcome to dishes and stitches I'm your

host Charles Stark 90g and on this

channel we bring you healthy recipes

cosplay tips and tricks and general life

hacks to help you make healthier choices

for that cosplay lifestyle if you're new

to our channel welcome and please

consider subscribing so today we're

going to be talking about the topic

cosplay is not consent and we're gonna

be sharing with you three ways that you

can stay safe attending your local Comic

Cons just a reminder at any time during

this video you can check out the show

notes in the description below

they've got helpful links resources and

all kinds of things for you to check out

that go along with this video so here we

are guys and we're talking about a topic

that is hot right now in our community

and it's kind of a controversial topic

but we both feel like it needs to be

addressed and that's the topic cosplay

is not consent

you probably bend to the conventions and

seen the signs everywhere people talk

about it maybe somebody's brought it up

and you're not quite sure what it is but

definitely want to protect yourself in

that situation

what exactly is the definition of

cosplay is not consent it's pretty easy

I mean the rules are you just don't run

up to somebody or some character and lay

hands on them you don't tackle them you

don't take pictures of people dressed in

costumes and compromising positions

there's been instances you know where

we've been at conventions and we're

trying to eat or we're trying to go to

the restroom or you know we're just

trying to catch a break and people just

without even asking they just come up

and they take pictures

around of us and mid drinking they're

still taking pictures and listen we all

love to have our picture taken I mean

that's what we thrive on as cosplayers

that is the ultimate compliment is when

somebody comes up to you and wants to

take your picture

but cosplay is not consent really is

about asking the other person for

permission before you do anything before

you invade their personal space

so how do you keep yourself safe at

conventions we have three tips for you

right now

first tip we have is don't go alone use

the buddy system absolutely I mean we

all go to conventions to hang out with

friends anyway and just like they taught

you in middle school in elementary

school use the buddy system it's always

safer in numbers just think of it this

way numbers deter predators so if you go

to a convention and you're going by

yourself consider going around world the

people art too don't don't go somewhere

where you're gonna be alone yeah exactly

so you know if you go to the convention

by yourself like you're dressed like an

Avenger find your tribe there's gonna be

tons of people there cosplaying in the

same fandom that you're cosplaying in

and I guarantee you that they're all

looking to make new friends tip number

two is gonna be spread awareness if you

see something going on and you see

someone acting the way that they

shouldn't be acting but you really can

figure out that it's not malicious they

just before maybe they've never been to

a comic-con before maybe they're super

excited feel free to reach out to that

person and educate them on comic-con

etiquette not everybody's good in social

situations some people are more awkward

with it some people just don't

understand but the best thing you can do

is just let them know don't pull them

into it don't mean about it or anything

like that if you feel like they might be

attacking you of course speak up but in

some situations they're just walking

around taking pictures and if they take

your picture and you're not comfortable

with it just let them know a lot of the

times they just don't understand that

that's not okay and it doesn't have to

be mean or malicious I mean we all

remember our first comic-con and when I

first attended comic-con I had no idea

either these were things that I needed

to be taught these were things that

people brought to my attention and over

the years we've been trying to bring

them to your attention as well

and the last thing is sometimes it gets

so bad you do need to report them just

let the authorities know or go to the

information desk absolutely I mean I

think we've all been in that situation

before I know that I've been to some

conventions before especially ones I

serve alcohol

sometimes things get unruly sometimes

you just really can't talk to somebody

it's kind of like the bullying and the

harassment thing you know I mean there

just comes a time when you've tried to

take other steps you've tried to be

really nice but you just have no choice

so you can always go to like the

customer service desk at a convention

you can always find a security guard

they usually have you know like the

yellow shirts sometimes black shirt

security yeah stuff like that so

definitely reach out to those people if

especially if you feel threatened

absolutely don't ever compromise your

safety or the safety of your friends if

you feel that the situation is out of

control

definitely alert the authorities well

hey guys thanks for checking out this

What is a Reducer? Thomson Micron Gearheads - Duration: 3:02.

All right everybody welcome to this week of Buckles-SmithTV.

During this week we'll be talking about gearboxes.

I have a very special guest that has joined us today.

Motion Specialist for Buckles-Smith - John Wolf.

Thank You Jay.

Yes, we are talking about gearboxes today, and here we have Thomson Micron planetary gearboxes.

So these are gear reducers, these are multiplying the torque output

of your motor allowing a smaller motor to do a bigger job.

So these are very valuable products here.

Just the term "Reducer". Why call it a reducer?

That's a good question, they're called reducers for a few different reasons.

They reduce the output RPM that comes from your motor,

it also can reduce the size of the motor that you need, because they

multiply the amount torque output on the motor, and they also reduce the reflected

system inertia that your motor is experiencing. In other words they

make the load lighter for your motor and this is all accomplished using the gear ratio.

The gear ratio is simply a relationship between the speeds on the

input and on the output side of this gearbox. So for example, right here we

have this 3 to 1 ratio gearbox which means that three revolutions on

the input equals one revolution of the output, and when I spin it backwards, you can

just see it's very very simple to see.

John taking these gearboxes and taking

a large load off the motor with these Thomson gearboxes will that make the

motor last a lot longer, for it's lifespan?

Absolutely, not only does it make the

load lighter, but allows you use a smaller motor with smaller power

requirements, so this really can make a huge difference. If you have an

application with high torque requirements this can really save you.

John I want to --
