So how do you get fresh ideas for your YouTube channel especially when you're filming videos
every single day?
There's a bazillion ways but today we will discuss 2 really effective ones.
Everybody it's Scott Christopher with Nate, Be the Hero Nate Woodbury talking about YouTube,
YouTuben, being successful, having a good time, how's that for loose?
And the reason why I say that is has nothing to with our topic for today.
But you know sometimes you have to dig deep to find ideas because even though your imagination
is limitless, as it relates to the actual theme of your channel, sometimes you can get
a little caught up.
And I've done a million times or I'm nothing left to say and you want to keep doing things
as long as possible.
Yeah and if you are making daily videos, right, for a year, that's 365 videos.
You might start running out of ideas.
So where can we, how do we refresh, how do we kind of come up with greater ideas.
I'm going to talk about one of the two things I do.
One I'll just explain and then another, I'll bring my laptop over and I'll demonstrate.
So the first way is to look at other YouTube channel and look at the most popular videos.
Oooh.
Okay, so maybe I can demonstrate.
I don't know how I feel about that.
Should I demonstrate?
Well, why not?
Why do you feel bad about it?
No I don't...It's my own..
No, I don't feel bad.
I think it's a great idea.
In fact it's a smart money.
But your hesitation came...But it's my pride.
You know what I mean.
It's like you go " I don't want to copy with someone".
O know what yo're saying.
I'm just humble so...
Well, I know you are.
You look at that.
I know how humble you are when you say it.
Let's take a look at this.Because I know what you mean.
I'm speaking for other who might go, "Oh, I just want to be totally innovative and be
original".
But the fact is if it is not broke and someone's using it, and it's getting a lot of views
then not a terrible thing.
Because I see a video here, Veritasium.
This is a Science channel.Okay.
Let's say that this was our channel.
And we're running out of Science topics.
So let's say, you're Derek.
No I'm right here so I'm Derek.
You're Derek.
But if we come over here to about...This is kind of cool.
This is to show us a whole list of his favorite channel.
So we could go to SmarterEveryday.
This is actually a very cool channel as well.
And I'm going to come here to the videos tab and I'm going to sort by most popular so now
his most popular video is tattooing close up.
He's shows the science behind giving a tattoo.
That's 63 million views.
So if I were Derek, I might consider making a video on the Science...
Anyway..Oh when you explain it like that, that makes sense.
Because you're right.
You basically say...It's been seen 63 million times, it's clearly you know a popular theme
or something...
So you're thinking that I was going to copy...
Well you know, in a way.
But what you can do is you take your own spin on it and present it yourself and do it on
a different way.
And you don't have to sort by most popular, that's obviously why they're doing that because
they've obviously performed well.
You just scroll through the list and see videos here that have had millions of views.
This channel.
It's got 5.6 million subscribers.
So keep that in mind.
I've never even heard, this is the first time I've heard of it that it's 5.6 million subscribers.
This guy is really cool, his name is Destin and he's like an engineer guy that makes really
cool science videos.
And now he doesn't ever have to be engineer again for pay.
I mean..He's a YouTuber.
He does multiple projects.
You could scan through the list and look at topics that like ooh! that was one that I
haven't done before.
Oooh that's one good twist that I could do.
And you're just looking for sources of inspiration, basically.
If others have been inspired by it, your twist on it, your take on it has be completely your
own and unique so yeah, that's great.
And actually use this a lot.
Not just for my channel but for my client's channels because I help them pick a lot of
their topics and my team does their keyword research.
So I'll go to channels that are similar to theirs in content or audience and I'll look
through their topics.
Oooh that's a good one, that's a good one and I'll make recommendations to my clients
this way.
So this is one that's simple.
Everyone has access to this.
Good.
So now lets go to option number 2.
We're going to talk about Quora.
Have you heard about the site?
I have Quora, yes, hmmm.
No, not before you mentioned it.
Oh so you used it now because I...Because of your, yes your suggestion.
Right.
So this is a question and answer website.
People go to Quora and they ask questions and people can come in and they would want
you to answer.
So lets pick a topic like Science.
What if I'm a chemical engineer?
So I could make lets see, like channel isn't be about chemical engineering.
Let me just think of a better example guys.
Alright, Scott got balloon folding.
I'm just curious to see...I think it's 2 L's.It's literally nothing.
I thought it was.
Apparently not.
Balloon animals?
Is that what you're thinking?
Well, let's do that.
Let's check balloon animals.
I've just heard it called balloon folding.
No else calls it that.
It must have been woody and something.
So how do you make some of the easiest balloon animals?
That's a good, probably good topic.
There.
There you go.
what kind of balloons are used to make balloon animals?
That could be another leaf topic.

AMP videos, I talked about that a lot.
What is the most ambitious balloon animal you've ever seen somebody create?
Wow.
That's a leaf.
Yeah.
What do you or how did you learn to make balloon animal?
So if you are a balloon animalist, balloon animal expert.
A clown.
I know you like the word guru so if you are a balloon animal guru, these are lots of ideas
of topics that you may not have created before.
How do we know that?
Because people are asking the question.
And they're real people and chances are, hopefully a lot of people are asking similar questions
although balloon animals..I know I've chosen a fairly random topic but...The great thing
about that site, Quora is, let me show it.
Can you go on there and find out what are the most common questions?
I mean does it rank them or say, here's today's most popular question or month's most popular
question.
So if I were doing a fairly random kind of YouTube channel I might go what I go want
to talk about you know.
Bored out of bed today, I'm making 20 a month, boom!
Oh this is something people are talking about.
Well, here's something that I really like because this is my account and I've come here
and I've answered questions before, and so the type of questions that are sent to me,
are automatically customized based on things that I've answered before and I can come up
here and click this answer tab and look at this question about YouTube.
How did they know that I answered question about YouTube.
So how do I clear about my YouTube like videos?
What is the background music of the videos from such and such channel?
How do I disable view counts?
So, these questions are obviously clickable to me.
The only way that you can get this work is by actually answering some questions and if
you're making YouTube video that answers this questions and then you come in Quora and post
it as an answer, oh here I made a video to answer your question and post your video there.
You know, you're answering these questions and so then Quora will start to send you more
and more questions.
Even if like I mainly, I don't use Quora to build a following here, I could.
Don't know of anyone that's making millions off of it.
They probably are but I use Quora to get great questions ideas.
It works very well obviously.
We just found several leads in the balloon animal.
Well, here's some ideas of YouTube videos that we could create.
So you want to refresh your ideas, look online.
Check out other people or peers and other successful YouTubers with their topics are.
Or sites like Quora.
Where a lot of questions were rolling in.
I'm going to use the barrow from other YouTuber's idea.
I think that's a good one.
At first I was hesitant but now that I see it and I see somebody getting 53 million views
from it, I'm going to use that.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
