What is Hepatitis? Causes of Hepatitis A & E - Duration: 3:05.

What is Hepatitis ?

What is it?

And what is its treatment?

Information regarding this is extremely essential.

It is very important that the common man knows what hepatitis is and how is it treated.

Hepatitis basically is inflammation of the liver.

Due to any reason if the liver is injured it is called Hepatitis.

The leading cause of Hepatitis in our country are viruses .

There are 5 different kinds of viruses that infect the liver and cause Hepatitis.

These are A,B,C,D and E

We need to remember that Hepatitis A and E cause only short term illness.

Meaning ,if someone is infected by Hepatitis A or E they do get sick for some time .

They have jaundice ,vomiting and fever but in one or two weeks they recover fully with treatment.

The liver does not suffer any long term injury nor does the patient suffer from any long term illness .

Hepatitis A Is spread via orofecal route that is through food that is contaminated.

Hence it is advised not to consume outside food that is unhygienic.

It is in no way associated with blood transfusion.

So if someone does get Hepatitis A,

They get completely cured in 2 to 3 weeks time with treatment

and acquire immunity or defense to the disease .

In the same way hepatitis E causes short term illness.

It specifically effects pregnant women.

Short term illness in pregnant women can be a serious condition.

If someone is diagnosed with Hepatitis E they require very aggressive short term treatment.

But this hepatitis E is cured in some time without causing long term illness.

Long term illness is caused by hepatitis B,C and to some extent Hepatitis D.

However we will discuss them in our next video .

For now do remember these are 5 different illnesses and not one disease .

It is very important to assess if someone has acquired hepatitis that

what kind of hepatitis is he suffering from so we may determine it's type .

Sleep walking describes abnormal behaviour and movement at night time during sleep,

also known as parasomnia,

and it occurs in part of a sleep called non-REM slowwave sleep.

It's a very interesting condition and it's very common

and in fact, they say up to one in 5 children may do it at some stage,

one in twenty may continue to do as an adults as well.

People who do sleep walk may do odd things like

wander around the house, start cooking, hiding objects, playing music,

and one of my patients, she started ironing during the night.

Now, there's many other important aspects about sleep walking,

it may have been fun for many of you,

but there has been many injuries, falling down the stairs, knocking themselves, hitting the wall, etc.

So it's very important that if you do sleepwalk, and you're in a new environment such as a hotel,

that you do risk assessment and make sure you don't fall over and hurt yourself.

It's important for your partner to realize that

they mustn't try to wake you up whilst you're sleep walking because sometimes you might rush out.

And generally for those who do sleep walk,

you will probably ended up on the couch and not remember a thing in the morning.
