Two Travel Stories for American English | ESL Listening | English Practice - Duration: 6:51.

Good day, English Winners. In this video, I'm going to tell a couple stories so

you can get used to the way many Americans will tell stories. So not long

ago, I had a beard. It was pretty long; I think I have one video about two weeks

ago - as of the time recording this video - where I had a pretty big beard. I shaved it off.

One: because it was becoming summertime and it was a little inconvenient, and two:

because what happened in this story. So get this: ('get this' means listen) I was

walking down an apartment neighborhood not too long ago, and it was sundown. The

city lights were just starting to come on, and as I'm walking down the sidewalk,

this old man with a fedora hat... (when I say 'with a fedora hat' or 'with an

umbrella', that means he's either wearing or holding. It depends on the Item. So, if

it's with khaki pants or with a necktie, I'm talking about clothes... so with a

necktie or with a fedora hat means he's wearing... but if he's with a backpack or

with an umbrella.... those are things you carry. So, when I say with an umbrella,

that means that he's carrying an umbrella. So, he's with a fedora hat. That

means he's wearing a specific kind of hat.)... so I walk past this old man, and just

as I passed by him, he goes, "Hey!" And I look at him. He looks back at me with

this surprised look in his eyes, like he didn't just yell at me. And so I'm

confused, and I shrugged my shoulders, turn around, and continue walking, and

then he goes, "Hey!" And he grabs my wrist. And I'm like, 'Okay, I don't know this

person. What's the deal?" I say. ('What's the deal?' is a way of asking: Why are you

acting this way? I'm...kind of... showing surprise.) What's the reason for grabbing my wrist

like that? And then he just continues to stare at me. Finally, he just... he points

here. He says in Korean: "beard,".and then "good appearance." And I say 'Okay, thank you."

I say that to him in Korean "gamsahamnida'... and then I turn around and walk

away. So, if this is the way people show appreciation for facial hair in this

country, I'm not going to walk around with a beard, because I'm going to keep

on getting grabbed by random people and I don't know if I'm going to be getting

into a fight, or they're going to compliment me on my beard. So, I shaved my

beard. So here's another story... about a weird young man on the street. So, check

this out. ('Check this out' means just the same thing as 'get this,' 'look,' or 'listen to

this.') I was walking down the street in Itaewon - which is a place in Seoul Korea

known for foreigners - and as we passed by this cafe, just killing time... (By the way

'passed by' means to walk by, and 'killing time' means to do things for boredom - just

to find something interesting to do - that's what it means to kill time.)

So, as we passed by this cafe, there was a man who was coming toward us with his

arm around his girlfriend. And that's fine, so we're walking by, and as we make

eye contact, he takes his fist and punches my shoulder. Now that's a very

strange thing to do. So, I stop and look back at him. 'What's up with you?' (And it's

a way of asking in surprise: 'what's your problem?' 'Is there a reason why you just

punched me on the shoulder like that?' And so what does he do next? He just stares

at me. And his girlfriend doesn't know what to do either! She wasn't expecting

her boyfriend to just punch a random person on the street, even if it was just

in the shoulder. I mean, it hurt a little; it was hard enough that it got my

attention, but it wasn't anything to do serious damage. But she was surprised, too.

And so, since he had his girlfriend with him, I came to the decision that this man

was not up to no good. (By the way, 'up to no good' means that he intends to cause

trouble, or to start fights, or break the law.) This man was not up to no good. He

didn't mean to do anything badly. But now we have this awkward situation; you don't

just punch a random person on the street and expect them to do nothing. And so, we

just - kind of - stare at each other a little bit. And, I didn't want to fight

because first off: I'm with my friend. Second, it's my day off. Third, I have a

backpack with a computer in my backpack, so I don't want to get into a fight and

damage the computer either. And plus, I'm in a foreign country. I don't want to cause

trouble with in a foreign country because, as a foreigner, it's instantly my

fault - no matter what happens - so I have to be very careful about how I act. And

so this awkward situation... ('awkward' means you don't know what to do socially, and

you feel either rejected, or alone, or just confused. And so, in this case, I am

very confused.) I don't know what to do so finally I just turn around and keep

walking. I just keep going. And my friend goes with me. And I'm confused... still

trying to think about what happened, and later my friend said to me: "He probably

saw an American movie where two friends met. One punched to the other in the

shoulder as a friendly way of saying 'hello'. And so, I agreed with him... that

probably was what happened. But just to make things clear: not only does that

rarely happen, but even if it did, it would be between two extremely close

friends who are used to doing that with each other, and that's not something you

do to people you don't know. So that's it for my second story: weird man on the

street. And so this should help you get used to listening to how Americans tell

stories. If you liked this video, please like, SUBSCRIBE... and if you have a weird

story about an awkward situation. Comment down below; tell me about your strange

story. Until then, keep winning English Winners. Check out my playlists here, and

I'll see you later. Bye.

How to delay or wait for the execution of the program in Excel VBA - Duration: 2:18.

Hello and Assalam-u-Alaikum guys. Today I'm going to be showing you how you can make your

VBA code wait for you or delay the execution of code for you or sleep for

you ;) .How can we do that. Now we have a situation saying message box I'm Ali and

message box I'm still early after two seconds so if I run this right now

it says I'm Ali and I'm still Ali after two seconds the code didn't wait two

seconds so this program is actually a problem we have to fix this problem and

the way to fix this problem is to wait two seconds. So what can I do is I can go

to application dot wait, so wait. But how much time? we tell it that wait for

like maybe two seconds how can we do that we say now means whatever time is

now plus add to it timevalue how much seconds you want to add to it

00 00 you don't want to add hours or minutes you want to add only a second

or the second. So now if I run this it says I'm Ali and waits for two seconds and it

says I'm still Ali after two seconds. Ok, there's another way actually.

that way is really easy. So you create a new module actually you can put it

here and this thing in here the Declaration of a sub called sleep which

you are bringing me from the kernel32 library or kernel32.dll to more specific

but we are going to use this kernel32 and its

argument is a millisecond so we have to give it milliseconds for it to sleep for

us or for it the to wait for us for two seconds or to stop the execution of

program for two seconds. We're going to say sleep and in here we're gonna say 2000

because... you are programming so I don't need to be too much specific but

1000 milliseconds equal one sec right so similarly 2,000 milliseconds equal two

seconds now we run this and as you can see it's working

okay guys that was all and I'll see you in the next tutorial bye bye

5 Major Tips for First Time AirBnB Hosts - Duration: 2:42.

5 Tips for First Time AirBnB Hosts

Copy Other Listings There are thousands of listings on AirBnB

so if you're brand new take a look at how other people are doing their listings.

Keep taking little pieces from different listings until you have crafted your own.

As you look at other ads and borrow their ideas you will come up with ideas of your

own.

If you're a first timer, see what successful people are already doing and emulate that.

2.

Price Competitively For your first listing you are competing with

experienced hosts in your area who already have reviews and a proven track record.

Take a look at prices near you and make it a bit cheaper.

You don't have to do this every time but you just want to get a few reviews under your

belt when you're starting out.

3.

Use Plenty Of Pictures For your listing upload as many photos as

you can.

Not everyone reads the full listing but everyone looks at the pictures.

If you're waiting for a photographer or need to develop your photos post your listing regardless.

You can always edit your ad later, but you don't want to miss out on bookings.

4.

Dynamic Pricing In the rental market, supply and demand is

always changing so you should frequently adjust the price of your listing.

For example, If there's a huge event going on, you could raise the price of your room.

Adjusting your prices to the season, competitors, events and whatever's going on locally will

make you a lot more money.

5.

Screen Guests Even though AirBnB has safety procedures you're

still letting a stranger into your house.

That's why you need a process to filter out potentially bad guests.

Look at these 4 things to help find your ideal guest:

1.

Full Profiles Find AirBnB users who have taken the time

to add pictures, a bio, and fully complete their profile.

2.

Talk To Them Send a few messages back and forth before

you accept someone.

Sometimes you can make a judgement just based on how they type and respond to your questions.

3.

Verifications If the person has an ID verified that's a

great thing.

If they have a phone number and email address you can feel more comfortable confirming who

they actually are.

4.

Reviews This is a huge feature within AirBnB that

adds a transparency to the people using the app.

Reviews can't be deleted and helps the community run smooth.

Make sure you look at the reviews for every guest.
