Waching daily Jul 5 2017

do you think it's okay to cut foamcore like this with a dull x-acto blade do

you think it's okay to tape your foam core or hot glue it and have the glue

and the foam showing if you answered yes to any one of those questions and you

think this is acceptable this video is not for you my name is Eric pebble I'm

an industrial designer welcome to my channel about product design and making

I hope that you like and joy and become a subscriber when you're designing a

product sometimes you need to mock up stuff and make things and foam core is a

great material it's cheap readily accessible I'm gonna show you some basic

techniques for how to cut foam core correctly how to glue it together how to

make some basic shapes and cuts if you live outside the United States

it may not be called foam core and may be called foam board but it's all the

same stuff it's basically a thin sheet of foam sandwiched in between two pieces

of paper or a thick cardboard gives you a strong structural piece it's basically

a composite foam core comes in a multitude of different colors different

thicknesses and europe and even comes in metric

some of the tools that I use for cutting foam core is a good cutting mat

definitely a steel ruler some very sharp blades and you'll need lots of those

good exacto ones some tape some white construction glue like a PVA like a

Elmer's glue and hot glue which I'm not crazy about let's start with something

simple and make some basic cubes let me show you how I make them first let's

start with a basic cut I make no more than two or three cuts the first cut

cuts through the top layer of the paper the second and the third cut cut through

the bottom layer of the paper for this tutorial we're gonna make some 2-inch

cubes yeah I know inches I don't do stuff in inches but in

this case two inches was easy normally I do everything in metric what we want to

do is just make basic two inch by two inch slabs of foam core and I'm just

sectioning everything up I'm using a square to make sure that I get square

edges and square corners you don't want any of the foam actually

showing so we're gonna 45 every single edge of the six squares on the two inch

by two inch pieces that way none of the foam will be

showing pay close attention on how I make these cuts and I'm using a very

sharp exacto I'm basically making one cut every time the last cut need a

little bit more off the top to actually make it a 45 degrees and you can only do

that cut if you have a very sharp exacto blade it's important to have a sharp

exacto blade you will need to practice a little bit to get those cuts to be a

nice 45 degrees every time you're gonna use some painters tape and I put it on

my shirt to make it not so sticky and we're gonna preassemble all of the

pieces this is gonna allow that tape to come off really easy afterwards and it's

gonna allow the pieces to be assembled together correctly every time in this

case I'm using some hot glue to glue all four sides together I don't like to a

hot glue I think not glues for hacks hot glue is fast and easy but it's not

pretty and you'll pull strings and it doesn't look good and it causes excess

thickness of the part you know glue will ooze out and you'll have to come back

and trim it up so you say Eric how can I take my game to the next level and

really impress my clients well glad you asked let me show you

we're gonna repeat the procedure from the last cube slab up six slabs of foam

core 45 them all put them all together with your tape pre assemble them I'm

using a ruler to make sure everything is nice and straight and I'm gonna use some

just white construction adhesive just a little bit on each edge when you use

white glue like this you're gonna dramatically increase your craftsmanship

of your part and that's important when you're a designer creating quality parts

to showcase to your clients the white glue takes a long time to dry you see

that I used supports to make sure everything is square and straight you'll

also notice here I'm testing out with the pieces to make them fit just perfect

I mark where they go when I add my white glue I'm adding it on the very inside of

the 45 so as to minimize any glue that would possibly lose out and you say hey

couldn't I make everything all out of one piece you could but you'll get soft

corners on those edges that you fold over here I've made a black one and you

can kind of see how the corners are soft so this is what your cube should look

like in the end they should be quality the next video is going to be foam core

at advanced basics we're gonna take a looking at making some cylinders softer

edges chamfers and some bevels

War for the Planet of the Apes Cast Interview (HBO) - Duration: 3:31.

Hello, and welcome to HBO's Screening Room.

I'm director Matt Reeves, and I'm here

with Andy Serkis and Steve Zahn, and we're here to watch

a scene from our movie War for the Planet of the Apes.

Where do we pick this up from? (LAUGHS)

Oh! It's two years after the end of Dawn.

We are smack in the middle of a war.

Caesar is an empathetic leader during Dawn.

And the years go by, and war has started,

he's been unable to-- to broker peace and...

an event happens at the beginning of the movie,

and he's catapulted into this desire to revenge.

It becomes almost like a western.

You're there with Maurice, the orangutan,

and Luca, who's your loyal gorilla muscle,

and loyal Rocket...

So as you guys are up in the woods, uh,

suddenly this guy shows up.

STEVE ZAHN: Here we go.

(GROWLS)

(HORSE NEIGHS)

MATT REEVES: So what's happened is Caesar's going after

Woody Harrelson's character, the Colonel,

and they're making their way into the Sierras.

And as they're there, there's suddenly a... a soldier

or someone who has just stolen, uh, their horse,

and been shooting at them.

(HORSE WHINNIES)

(RIFLE CLICKS)

(CLATTERING)

ZAHN: There I go. That's me.

Bad... ape!

ANDY SERKIS: Aw, look! There he is.

ZAHN: Yeah. There I am.

Bad... ape.

This was the first scene we shot.

My first scene.

You are CG in the entire film.

Except for that scene where you're stealing the gun,

which, when we were shooting it, we were gonna do it mo-cap,

and then we were like, "Wait a minute,

why are we doing this?

-Why don't we just put the jacket on Steve?" -ZAHN: Right.

-So that's actually you in the movie. -Yeah.

Totally not CG.

The motion capture does not get in the way.

It enhances what you do.

I assumed that it would be this kind of complicated process,

and really what it is is going out and playing

a character in a movie.

I had to become a chimp,

and at the same time play this kind of interesting guy

who was so excited to be around people

and had loss in his life, and ventured on with them

against all of his instincts just because he wanted to be

with people.

What has happened to Caesar over the course

of the three films is... is he's evolving.

He's actually becoming more human-like.

We see a very different side of Caesar throughout the course

of this new movie, because he's unable

to find it in himself to forgive,

and so he goes off on this desperate mission,

and he loses himself. So it becomes an internal war

for his... his own survival, his own soul.

It's a really interesting thing, actually.

Kind of technologically, as Caesar's got more human,

the fidelity of that and the skin-texturing

and the eyes and everything...

I mean, I've never seen him look more human than in this movie.

Thanks for joining us in the HBO Screening Room.

"Something I can live for." (1:40) - Duration: 1:41.

Do you recognize something about the Noah story by the way?

It's a beautiful story,

when I read it to my kids

sometimes they don't get the point.

Because, the story about Noah

is the story where God judges the world.

And he hates sin and he kills everybody

except for these eight people in this boat

and it's because God is good.

And then he puts a rainbow in the clouds

and we go,

"Oh it's so nice. God likes colours."

That must be what that's about.

But the reality is...

Do you know what he puts in the sky?

In the Hebrew?

In Genesis chapter 6?

It's called a bow.

Rainbow, we say that, it's a bow.

And what it meant was a war bow.

And what it meant was, listen,

For all that time, from Genesis 1-6

he was firing downward at people, he was saying,

"You're sinful, I'm gonna kill you."

And he floods everybody.

And then at the end of the story

in this beautiful gospel moment,

he turns the bow on himself.

And he says,

"No longer will I have the bow pointed down at you,

now it's pointed into the heart of heaven,

because one day I'm actually gonna come down

and take my own flood,

take the wrath of myself on my own son

for you.

That's what that story's about.

It's not about you being a good guy.

So once you start understanding that

then you're not going to be burdened.

Then you start to understand that,

teleologically, the meaning in the end of all things

is that God gets glory and I serve that glory.

That's the point of my whole life.

And once that gets organized,

then you go,

"Now I have an identity.

Now I got something I can live for.

Now I'm not idle anymore."

Nearly 1/3 of food production for human consumption is lost or wasted.

That's approximately 1.3 billion tons of food that gets thrown away each year.

At UD we work to reduce food waste as much as we can.

Leftover food from UD catering gets sent to Gospel Mission, a local organization

that gives food to in need people in downtown Dayton.

All unused food from k U is collected by the food recovery network and donated a st.. Vincent Depaul an

organization that helps families in need in the Miami Valley

But to reduce all food waste and what we sent to landfill we need students to get on board to

We're going to dining hall. Make sure you pull read it what you're actually going to eat in order to reduce weight

Additionally if you plan on eating at the dining hall make sure you use the reusable plates

Instead of To-go containers while the spell containers are composable it is wasteful to use those over a washable finish

Are they go make sure you drop off your compost will container in one of the accomplishments when you're finished?

According to the us Epa. Twenty to thirty percent of what ends up in the landfill is organic material that could have been composted

If you look at what can be recycled and composted only about ten percent of what we throw away needs to go to a landfill

since 2009

Beautiness had a composting program that helps reduce waste on campus

For the past eight years our compost has gone to a site off campus that turns our waste into soil

However, if the compost is contaminated meaning there are items for compost bins that are not supposed to be there it is rejected the contamination

Cost you any money and is bad for the environment

To reduce this contamination. It's important that students know. What is compostable on him?

A Qd nearly everything in the dining hall is compostable To-go containers

You do is working to provide more compost around campus our goal for the upcoming year is the permanently placed?

Composting bins on Merry crest resident cords and to Bangkok Osomons to other dorms on campus

However, there are a handful of compost bins are running around

Outside the emporiums you will see three wastage one for trash one for compost and one for recycling

Many of the To-go containers from the Emporium are compostable so don't forget to put them in the right bin

There are also two compost bins located outside around campus

Having these compost bins outside makes it easy to drop off your waist if you ate outside

Or if you're just walking by on your way to class

you can compost items in a reusable container in your house apartment or door and

Manchester City rival Benfica and Club Brugge for Macedonia midfielder – report - Duration: 1:53.

Manchester City rival Benfica and Club Brugge for Macedonia midfielder – report

Manchester City are one of three clubs considering an approach for highly-rated Macedonia international, Elif Elmas, according to a report by Belgian newspaper HLN.

Despite being just 17 years of age, Elmas, an attacking midfielder, has already been capped by Macedonia at senior level, appearing against Spain in a World Cup qualifier last month.

And his talents have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester City, Benfica and Club Brugge all considering making offers to his club side FK Rabotnički.

Described as 'by far the most talented playmaker in Macedonia' by HLN, Elmas is expected to take the next big step of his career this summer with a transfer.

His options are varied, with Club Brugge able to offer him instant first team football, something that could take a while at Benfica and even longer at Manchester City.

Were City to sign Elmas, the most likely course of action would either be a place in the under-23 side or a loan to one of the growing number of City Football Group affiliate clubs.

Jordan Henderson "very positive" about fitness following return for Liverpool pre-season - Duration: 3:48.

Jordan Henderson "very positive" about fitness following return for Liverpool pre-season

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has provided a "very positive" update on his fitness on returning to pre-season training at Melwood on Wednesday.

The midfielder missed the final three months of last season with a long-term foot injury, with the Reds ultimately finishing fourth in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp took a cautious approach with Henderson throughout the closing stages of the campaign, not willing to force him into action and prompt any further issues.

But having joined Liverpool's summer preparations in West Derby in midweek, the 27-year-old is looking forward to the season ahead. "I've probably been waiting longer than everybody else," he told LFCTV.

"They have been enjoying the break but I've been dying to get back into it because I missed the end of last season.

"That was disappointing but I'm very positive and dying to get back into the swing of things this pre-season.

"I'm looking forward to the hard work. I'm just glad to be back on the pitch, running and playing football, that's the main thing.

"Hopefully I can stay fit. We've got a couple of hard weeks ahead of us to get ready for the start of the season.".

Henderson's commitment to returning at full fitness is commendable, with the skipper continuing training throughout the summer, both at Melwood and while on a break in Portugal.

This should give him an advantage as he looks to slot back into Klopp's first-team setup, and said he is "looking forward to now getting started properly.

"I've been waiting for a long time to get back on the first day," he continued.

"I was excited to get out there this morning. Now we're in the swing of things, I'm looking forward to training and getting as fit as I can, ready for the new season.

"I managed to train throughout the whole time and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to now getting started properly.

"There has been a few of us that have had to work hard during the summer to try to get back as quickly as possible, so some of us can get back for the first day or maybe in a week or two.

"It has been all go during the summer. I'm glad to be back training with the lads on the first day.".

Henderson's last appearance for the Reds came in the 2-0 win at home to Tottenham on February 11, but he will now be targeting a return against Tranmere Rovers on July 12.

Now making up for lost time, he will be eager to impose himself as Klopp plots for a successful 2017/18.

Today's World: Hamburg braces for G20 violence as tensions rise over police tactics - Duration: 6:41.

Hamburg braces for G20 violence as tensions rise over police tactics

Hamburg braces for G20 violence as tensions rise over police tactics. Police chief predicts 'not just sit-in protests but massive assaults' as Germany's second largest city prepares for summit starting on Friday.

Hamburg is bracing itself for an escalation of violence on the eve of Friday and Saturday's G20 summit, after local people complained that heavy-handed police have ratcheted up tensions in Germany's second largest city.

A fleet of hi-tech water cannons was used to disperse crowds partying near the conference venue on Tuesday evening. Five people were injured and five arrests made, said police, who have warned that protesters could be hoarding weapons at secret locations.

Authorities in Germany's second-largest city are preparing for the arrival of an unprecedented lineup of controversial world leaders including Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as thousands of international protesters ranging from anti-capitalist activists to middle-class families keen to voice dissent.

Police say they expect a core of about 5,000 violent protesters to gather in the city's historic port area for a "Welcome to Hell" march just as world leaders and international delegates start arriving at Hamburg airport on Thursday afternoon.

The Hamburg police chief, Ralf Martin Meyer, expressed concerns that the city would see "not just sit-in protests but massive assaults", as anarchists from Scandinavia, Switzerland and Italy joined up with local activists in a city with a long tradition of leftwing protest and annual May Day riots.

In the run-up to the summit, German police have seized knives, baseball bats and containers presumed to be filled with flammable liquid and unknown chemicals from various locations in and around Hamburg.

Jan Hieber, a senior officer, said police had probably only found a small proportion of the weapons that had been stockpiled for use in the protests.

"There is evidence that the acts of violence around the G20 summit that we had expected and feared will take place," said Meyer. The interior minister, Thomas de Maizière, announced on Tuesday that 15,000 police would be on duty at the summit.

A note by the German defence ministry leaked to Der Spiegel advises soldiers against wearing their uniforms in public during the summit for fear of becoming targeted by "spontaneous attacks by members of violent-prone participants of leftwing extremist protests".

The leaked document also mentions plans to "disrupt the summit's procedure, occupy all access routes and logistics hubs, attack urban infrastructure and blockade the harbour".

Many local residents complain, however, that heavy-handed policing against peaceful protesters has helped ratchet up tensions in the run-up the G20 meeting on 7 and 8 July.

At 11pm on Tuesday, Hamburg police used a new fleet of "WaWe10" water cannons to clear an area between the Schanzenviertel district and FC St Pauli's football stadium, where hundreds had gathered to drink alcohol and listen to music.

"Cornering", supposedly inspired by breakdance crews hanging out on street corners in 1980s New York, has been purposefully adopted as a form of "hedonistic protest" by Hamburg activists in recent weeks.

Similar forms of protests, including a public rave in the harbour on Wednesday evening, are planned throughout the summit.

The German newspaper Taz described Tuesday's show of strength in the midst of a peaceful protest as a "professional escalation" on behalf of the police, which would have caused howls of outrage had similar incidents taken place in Russia or Turkey.

Hamburg's police union had warned that it would not pursue a strategy of deescalation unless activists scaled down their rhetoric. "A strategy of deescalation can only work when both sides want and allow it," said Oliver Malchow, of Germany's police union GdP.

"We want that for all 30 registered demonstrations. But in the face of the rhetoric of leftwing activists and names like 'Welcome to Hell' we have to presume a high potential for violence. In that case deescalation would be inappropriate," he said.

The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has appealed to protesters to express their dissent in a peaceful manner, warning that "those who turn to violence mock democracy".

In an interview with weekly Die Zeit, Merkel defended the controversial decision to hold the G20 summit in Hamburg, arguing that the scale of the event and the expected number of visitors had required the infrastructure of a large city.

Merkel, who will meet Trump for a 45-minute bilateral meeting on Thursday night followed by a joint dinner with Asian delegates, said getting world leaders around the same table for a conversation was "a value in itself" at a time when changing power structures were causing "speechlessness".

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners 'to launch £70m double swoop for Sporting Lisbon stars Martins - Duration: 3:44.

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners 'to launch £70m double swoop for Sporting Lisbon stars Gelson Martins and William Carvalho'

ARSENAL are planning a £70million double raid on Sporting Lisbon for William Carvalho and Gelson Martins. Portuguese outlet A Bola claim the Gunners are prepared to spend big this summer in a bid to reclaim a Champions League spot next season.

William Carvalho is on Arsene Wengers summer shopping list.

Gelson Martins is another Portuguese star on Arsenal radar. Arsene Wenger wants to beef up his midfield options with Carvalho, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last four years during his time in Portugal.

Wenger saw his side lose too many midfield battles last term, with Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka struggling to live up to his £30m billing since joining from Borussia Moenchengladbach last summer.

Carvalho, 25, was close to joining Manchester United before the departure of David Moyes in 2014.

The Portuguese international has also been linked with a switch to Manchester City this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to reshape his Etihad squad ahead of his second season in England.

Martins, 22, who bagged seven goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for Sporting last season, could prove a useful addition at the Emirates with his ability to operate as a winger or full-back.

The Gunners have already added Sead Kolasinac from Schalke on a free transfer and are close to sealing a deal for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette for £44m.

It was a mixed first season at Arsenal for Granit Xhaka.

Arsene Wenger is prepared to spend big this summer.

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette could become a record buy for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Arsenal are still in the hunt for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez but are fighting to keep hold of Olivier Giroud, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile forward, who will take a short break after his country lost in the final of the Confederations Cup to Germany, claims he has already decided where h ewill play next season.

The 28-year-old has had plenty of opportunity to pledge his future to Arsenal while speculation links him with a big move to Manchester City or Bayern Munich.   Watch Arsenal target's Alexandre Lacazette phenomenal season.
