Hastak Vocabulary for Beginners - Adding Hastak Movement to Vocabulary | Lesson 41/222 - Duration: 7:27.

We have already explored up to taking a spin
Where we use the torso in above and torso in below
That is the 'Tatkaar' from our feet
And torso in above with the 'Hastaks'
Lets explore a few more movements
which can then be added to your vocabulary
when you do various kinds of
'Tukadas' or Amads, things like that
that would almost be essential
as a necessary part of your repertoire
So here is a movement that is most commonly used
in many of our Sums
There are three directions in the corner
The up, the middle and the down
The position we start with is 'Utpatti'
So we keep the left hand as is where it is
We shift the torso in a diagonal
and we extend our hand
We first extend it up
which is called the 'Urdva Hasta Kone', means a corner
'Urdva' meaning 'up'
'Hasta' meaning 'the hand'
'Kone' means the corner
So a corner and bring it back
'Madhya' is the middle
Take it to the middle - corner
and bring it back
'Tala' is down below
Look down and bring it back
So when we are saying 'Urdva', 'Madhya' and ' Tala'
We are actually addressing the three levels - on our right
Twist and turn the body to your left
Extend your hand, bring it back
Middle, bring it back
Down, bring it back
So when you are extended
your body is stretching from the right side
and contracting on the left
Middle is balanced
And when you go down the reverse happens
the left gets extended and the right contracts
and bring it back
Twist and turn your body to the other side
Extend, bring it back
Middle, bring it back
'Tala' and bring it back
The same exercise, you would then do it reverse
Because there are many movements
The arena in which you are dancing is changing constatly
Initially dance was happening in the temple
The idol was there and
the dancer was presenting the dance to the idol
The God or the Goddess
When the dance came to the Mughal courts
People were sitting in a semi circle or in a cirlce
Now we have dance for the cameras
or we are doing site specific dance presentations
Where everything cannot be just presented in this aspect
It either goes diagonal or sideways or back
So another exercise that will help you in recapping your vocabulary
is to move back
and do the same thing in the opposite direction
Up and back
Middle and back
Down and back
Take it the other side
Up and back
Middle and back
Down and back
Turn around
These are the two 'Hastaks' that we have just added to your vocabulary
Let's move forward
We now add a 'Pushpak' to it
Jump up
As I said earlier, use your core muscles,
as the cat jumps to the moon
Move up
Stretch and back
Stretch and contract
That is neccessary
Let's do this again

Middle and back
Down and back
Stretch

So the corners are then covered
The Reverse

Lets add 'Samatal' and ''Vyapti' to it
'Samatal' is something that is balanced and 'Barabar'
At the same level

And put in a 'Vyapti' to it
Remember when we do the 'Vyapti',
the body moves opposite to the direction
which we are actually watching
or the 'Drishti' or the eyes are
This way and back

Let's do it to the number

Let's explore the movement which we have we used in
'Rang Manj Ka Tukda'
It is a curve of your body
The outer margin, the right margin goes one
It is a 'Lasya' movement

In our vocabulary, specially with the vocab that we have used for
'Utpatti' , 'Urdva Hasta Chakra', ' Madhya Hasta Chakra'
All these things put together
We have also used ' Aalingan'
So now lets explore how we can use
the 'Palat' and the 'Aalingan' into the 'Hastaks'
It is a good excercise
Because when you need it in your repertoire,
you know how to move

Obasanjo calls for end to bloodshed, sacrifices in Nigeria
- Chief Obasanjo called for the removal of soldiers backed by political office holders. - The former president said this would prevent occurrence of another civil war.
- He noted that some of the countrys best soldiers have died due to political interference.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the removal of soldiers who have the backing of political office holder from the army in order to prevent the occurrence of another civil war.
According to report, the former president gave this advice at a public presentation of the book written by Haruna Yahaya and titled, "The First Regular Combatant: Brigadier General Zakariya Maimalari," in Abuja on Tuesday, July 4.
Obasanjo said Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed and sacrifice and called for peace in the country.
He noted that the presence of soldiers who had the backing of political office holders threatened the order in the military insisting that it has led to the killing of soldiers that would have been useful to the country.
He said: "Maimalari was a man who was very interested in the welfare of his men during a peacekeeping mission in Congo, a situation that led to him having issues with some few. He was a soldier's soldier.
"If Maimalari had lived to head the Nigerian Army, to the best of my own knowledge, Nigeria would have been better for it.
"Lesson to be learnt from Maimalari's death- this country had had trained officers who would have been of benefit to this country, but cut out at the prime of their lives, and our lesson should be that this should never happen again.
"To stop the sort of thing that took the life of Maimalari prematurely, all those assisted by political office holders should be eased out of Army so we can have an Army that will be completely free from political aberration.
"And since 1999, I think we have got it right, let us hope that we have got it right and learn the right lessons. Nigeria has had enough bloodshed, sacrifices and Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress.
"And may be the sacrifices of the like of Brigadier General Maimalari be sufficient to give this country peace, development, unity and progress.
