Arsenal consider move for Leicester ace Riyad Mahrez after frustration in transfer market

Arsene Wenger made Lemar, Lacazette and fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe transfer priorities this summer, with star forward Alexis Sanchez set to leave the club.

According to the Telegraph, the Gunners have had a bid in excess of £30m turned down by Monaco for Lemar, although reports in France claim they have made another bid.

They have also failed in talks with Lyon over a deal for Lacazette, with at least one bid has already been rejected for the striker. The French club are believed to want £49m for the 26-year-old.

And with Monaco placing a pricetag in excess of £100m on Mbappe, it seems Wenger will struggle to sign any of the French trio. Monaco's reluctance to sell Lemar is most likely down to other stars departing the French champions.

Midfielder Bernardo Silva has already joined Manchester City and Tiemoue Bakayoko is believed to be signing for Chelsea. So Wenger is now rumoured to be eyeing up Mahrez, who was linked with a move to the Emirates last year.

  The 26-year-old was key in Leicester's astonishing Premier League title win in 2016, where he scored 17 goals in 37 appearances for the club.

Leicester were believed to have demanded around £50m for the player at the time, but it is unlikely Arsenal will meet that price this summer.

The club are also monitoring the situation of Sanchez, who is wanted by Guardiola's City and Bayern Munich, as well as being locked in a contract stand-off with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is wanted by Liverpool.

France international leaves Man City for Turkey, meets club officials ahead of transfer to same club as Adebayor

Man City star spotted in Turkey meeting club officials ahead of completing transfer. France international Gael Clichy has arrived in Istanbul, Turkey and met with Basaksehir club officials.

Clichy is expected to undergo a medical with Basaksehir before completing his transfer to the club. The 31-year-old will be available on a free transfer as City did not extend his contract at the end of the season.

Clichy will play first-team football outside of the Premier League for the first time in his career if the deal goes ahead. The French star had 14 assists and three goals in 203 appearances for City.

Before joining the Citizens, Clichy made 261 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal. The experienced full-back was part of the last Gunners side that lifted the Premier League back in 2004.

Clichy has won three Premier League titles – one with Arsenal, two with City. Basaksehir were surprise runners-up in the Super Lig last season and reached the Turkish Cup final.

Team manager Abdullah Avci is keen on striking a balance between youth and experience. The Istanbul minnows managed to land Emmanuel Adebayor on a free transfer in January. Nineteen-year-old wonder Cengiz Under also plays for Basaksehir as a first-team star winger.
