Hi Guardians, today I am going to present you my top 3 snipers that I personally use
in PVE.
Before I start with the top 3 let's talk about snipers and more importantly what makes a
good pve sniper.
Snipers are used in destiny because these are hands down the best weapon archetype for
huge amount of DPS.
Not only do they deal a lot amount of damage but you can do so at a relatively safe distance.
Thus Snipers are the favorite weapon of choice especially against bosses.
Now in order to maximize your dps while using a sniper there are three important factors.
Impact, Stability and Speed.
Impact, you want to use the high impact snipers which has at least an impact of 31.
These are the popular snipers in the game like the LDR, Longbow and Eirene RR4 that
output a lot of damage, even better go for the hardest hitting snipers with an impact
of 38 these are snipers like the Black Spindle, Event Horizon and Ex Machina for maximum DPS.
Hard hitting snipers are useless if the gun is not stable enough to hit the target, so
stability and a predictable recoil pattern is important so you can be as consistent as
possible in hitting your target.
Last but not least the time will come where you will need to reload your mag to continue
your DPS.
Obviously the faster you reload the better so you can continue dumping your shots in
your target.
So now let's discuss what the top tier perks are that makes a good PVE sniper.
As mentioned before Impact, Stability and speed are the most important elements that
defines a good sniper so we will be looking for perks that can enhance this.
As for impact there is only a couple of options in increasing this and that is with the choice
of the muzzles if you have one, Linear compensator , field choke and accurized ballistics will
all enhance your impact or Luck in the chamber where one random bullet in your mag will deal
extra damage.
As for stability, injection mold will be the top tier perk which not only increases stability
but also the handling of the gun or perfect balance is also a great perk as well that
increases stability without any downside.
There are several reloading perks, speed reload, oiled frame and spray and play are all top
tier reloading perks.
In addition you will be looking for any perks that can enhance the mag size or give you
extra bullets like Casket Mag, Triple Tap, and Clown Cartridge.
These perks are absolutely essential since it gives you extra bullets which means you
can continue to deal damage and this delays the need to reload, and thus maximizing your
DPS.
So now we know what you will be looking for in a good pve sniper, let's start with my
personal top 3 sniper overview.
In the Number 3 spot we have my beloved LDR.
My LDR is absolutely great , it has the SLS20 and SLR20 scope, I am using the Ambush, we
have triple tap, perfect balance, injection mold, and oiled frame, and spray and play.
This sniper has all the top tier perks, triple tap gives me that extra bullet when I land
3 precision shots, so theoretically I can hit 5 shots before I need to reload.
And when I reload I have spray and play to help me reload the gun faster.
In addition I have so much flexibility in the middle column all three perks are great.
I can use perfect balance to increase the stability without any negative side effect,
or I can opt for Injection mold to give me extra stability and handling while sacrificing
range, or I can boost my reload to max with oiled frame.
Since I am already accustomed to the recoil pattern of this gun I choose oiled frame over
the others to max out my reload speed.
This is absolutely a fantastic sniper and definitely one of luckiest sniper drop that
I received.
In the number two spot we have the Gunsmith sniper the Eirene RR4.
Mine comes with the SS2 and SS1 scope, triple tap , snapshot, casket mag, unflinching and
mulligan.
The Eirene is one of those snipers where the perks makes or breaks the gun.
The Eirene as it is , is in my opinion not a great sniper it has very average base stats
and I do not like the recoil pattern , it jumps too much in my opinion.
But like I said the perks makes or breaks the gun and in this case it makes this gun
one hell of a pve sniper.
Casket Mag increases the mag size to 5 and when you combine this with Triple Tap, it
will allow this perk to proc twice if you land all of your precision shots making this
a potential 7 shot sniper.
It also has mulligan which has a chance on returning a bullet if you miss a shot.
So all of these perks combined allows me to put in as many bullets as possible before
I need to reload.
Again a great sniper, however in order to maximize the potential of this sniper it does
require you to land all of your precision shots.
The chance on getting those 7 shots really depends on the situation, sometimes you are
just unlucky when adds are shooting at you or when the boss suddenly moves causing you
to miss a shot.
So although it is great to have that potential 7 shots, but it is not a guarantee thus it
earns the number 2 spot.
Before we reveal the number one spot here are some honorable mentions.
The Icebreaker, the unlimited ammo regeneration from it's no Back pack perk is great, however
the ammo regen time has been nerfed and the gun can unfortunately only hold 6 bullets
otherwise it would have made it to the top 3.
The defiance of Yasmine, the cocoon perk is great where you can dump some sniper shots
, switch back to your primary and the cocoon perk will automatically reload your sniper.
However it can not compete with the other snipers here due to the low impact stat of
24.
The Black Spindle, yes it is the king of snipers if you can benefit from the white nail perk
over and over again.
But if you miss a shot it will return this gun to a normal high impact sniper.
Also the fact that it is exotic means that you are sacrificing other exotics like the
sleeper stimulant, gjallarhorn or Dark Drinker, which are easier to use and does not require
you to consistently hit precision shots.
Thus in the number one spot we have the Wrath of the Machine Sniper Rifle the Ex Machina.
This is a 38 impact sniper with Linear compensator, accurized ballistics, field choke, spray and
play, hand loaded, quick draw, injection mold and the unique wait for it perk.
It does hold one less bullet in the mag compared with the previous snipers but it has more
impact, and it can consistently give you four shots as long as you empty the mag.
This is absolutely a fantastic sniper, all the perks here has such a great synergy.
Injection Mold gives you that increased stability and handling and spray and play and the wait
for it perk work so well together, so that when your mag is empty spray and play grants
you a fast reload and when it's reloaded the Wait for it perk give you an extra bullet
making the total mag size in total 4, EVERY TIME as long as you reload when the mag is
empty.
Compared with the previous snipers this gun has something which the others do not have
and that is consistency, the previous snipers with triple tap relies on you to hit three
precision shots and that is not always possible.
Here the gun gives you an extra bullet as long as you reload when the mag is empty,
so it does not matter whether you miss a bullet or not as long as you keep on firing ,all
the perks will still work together.
The other advantage of the Ex Machina is that it is a legendary sniper, which frees up an
exotic slot, so you can use a sleeper , gjallarhorn , dark drinker or any of your favorite exotic
weapon.
Ex Machina, with a sleeper, gjallarhorn or dark drinker is a fantastic combo for any
PVE activity to maximize your DPS.
The great combination of perks and the fact that you can still combine this great sniper
with an exotic makes the Ex Machina earns it number 1 spot.
So that is my personal top 3 sniper overview.
