Waching daily Mar 5 2017

China on Saturday made a fresh pitch of President Xi Jinping's multi-billion dollar connectivity project, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), to India, emphasizing its economic benefits. New Delhi should keep the "larger picture" in mind in joining the BRI, senior diplomat Fu Ying said, indicating that India's decision not to join Xi's legacy venture was dictated by narrow strategic interests.

The BRI is Xi's ambitious connectivity project that aims to connect China with Asia and Europe over land and sea through infrastructure projects like ports and road and railway trade corridors.

Last week, foreign secretary S Jaishankar reiterated India's concerns on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) – the BRI's flagship project that passes through PoK, making it clear that for India it was a "sovereignty" issue and the reason why New Delhi will not be part of the BRI.

Fu made the pitch on Saturday morning at a press conference a day before the National People's Congress (NPC) convenes its yearly meeting at the Great Hall of the People. "The BRI and connectivity programs, they are for economic development and also benefit India. So, we need to bear in the mind the larger picture," Fu, a high-profile diplomat in China's diplomatic corps and NPC spokesperson for the fifth year running, said.

Asked to comment on the current status of Sino-India relations and bilateral problems at the choreographed meeting with the press, Fu said: "For some issues that cannot be worked out for the moment, we cannot allow them to stop us from moving forward. We must proceed with whatever we can."

"China and India are two big developing countries. In our respective development (areas), we face multiple challenges to various degrees. We need to be more sensitive to each other's concerns, so that we can better address them," she said. "For the past years we have bene talking to each other and advancing cooperation, discussing differences, that's what we have been doing," she said.

Fu did not mention China's move that blocking India's application to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) or Beijing stalling New Delhi's bid to get Pakistan-based terror suspect Masood Azhar proscribed at the UN. "Of course there are also differences. Some have been around for years. I also hear China's concerns; between our two foreign ministries, they are covered in details."

"For some issues that cannot be worked out for the moment, we cannot allow them to stop us from moving forward. We must proceed with whatever we can," she said. "Our leaders meet each other quite often. Our militaries exchange visits and we have set up counter-terrorism and transnational crime cooperation mechanisms," Fu said, laying out examples of Sino-India cooperation.

She recollected that only few years ago, Sino-India trade was around $ 2 billion and last year, it had crossed the $ 70 billion-mark. And, she said there was a time when only few flights connected the two countries while now, more than 40 flights are operational between India and China.

5 Tips for Succes - Duration: 5:27.

Hello my class we are about to start the first session so I want

to offer these five tips on acing this

class so my first tip to you is plan

plan plan plan. Plan your study and in class

time it's essential to your success

these online courses are fast-moving and

they're very demanding they are usually

about 20 hours per week and there's a

great deal of reading and there's a

final project milestone every week and

you're also required to contribute

initial discussion post and two

substantive response to your classmates

post in the discussion forum every week

so plan a specific block of time

throughout the week trying to cram it

all in on the weekend will affect your

grade you don't have time to process

what you're reading think about the

connections or the class material

throughout the week so i really suggest

is look over all the assignments early

that were you have time ask questions on

points that are not clear because waiting

until Sunday to look at the assignments

it can either result in late work or an

incorrect submission

okay and also check your SNHU email

check it at least once daily preferably

twice this is how I communicate with you

so be sure you're aware of all the

announcements coming in or any of my

email now, tip two use SNHU resources

there are many resources available to

help you with the concepts and writing

smart thinking is a great one if you're

having any problem with concepts in the

course the writing center is great for

writing you know they can help with

these statements analysis grammars

citations really whatever you need

now the SNHU library is fantastic for

finding resources primary or secondary

and they had a history page on their

website which has links to primary

source databases you can also make an

appointment with a librarian to find sources if

you're having problems and research is really their

speciality so do not hesitate to

make an appointment of your having

problems the of course now there's now SNHU

connect where you can interact with each

other in this classroom

another history classes you can talk

about the class what you're working on

get help or you know just feel like you have

a community and there's also the online

peer tutoring which is

through SNHU connect and

they're really good so feel free to take

advantage of that and of course I am

your number one resource i'm happy to

discuss any concepts writing

assignments whatever you need I'm happy

look overall and drafting your

assignments I just ask that you have them in

the night before they are due

SO if its due on Sunday have it in no later

than Saturday night that way I have time

to go over it and you would have time

to implement any of my suggested

revisions Tip three pay attention the

deadlines all assignments all of the

milestone discussion board post they

have specific dates and times of which

there due

Late discussion posts are not

accepted al all. the whole point about the

discussion posts that you're engaging

with each other so if you missed a

Sunday deadline if you don't turn it in until Monday

I will not accept them late if there's

an emergency i might offer an alternative

assignment and so you know always feel

free to contact me and you have until

one week after deadline for any of the

milestones for ten percent off the final

grade and again if there's an emergency

I might offer deadline but I need to know

about the situation as soon as possible

you know preferably even before the

deadline ok, Now Tip Four read the rubrics

and all the announcements the guidelines

and rubrics for discussion groups and

all the milestones contain the specific

instructions on how to complete and

format the assignments along with

details about the elements that I'm

going to use to grade them so it's a

really good for you to have this

information so you have kind of a

blueprint of what to expect and the

rubric for history 241

are located in the course information

and in each module and the assignment

guidelines and rubrics folder now in

every week I'm going to send out my

expectations for that the weekly

assignments and all either going to be

in like that that would be Monday

announcement or they're gonna be

sent out a later one in the week that

has my specification now these are good

because you're responsible to know the

information in there and I know that

we're really busy sometimes it's hard to

read the announcements but really take

the time that is going to make a

difference. Ok Now Tip five

take responsibility for your own

learning and again I i know we're busy

I know we all have families and you work

full-time

sometimes it's hard to get everything

done but really an online classes this is on you

you're the one responsible for what you

do and don't learn you know I'm not a

sitting there lecturing at you you're

not sitting there in class just kind of

taking notes

it's up to you to read through all the

information and again take notes because

it really does help and you have the

resources and information right there

and try to make the connections between

the readings between what we're learning

in the modules every week and again

remember i am here to help

so if you have any questions you want to

discuss the readings anything don't

hesitate to contact me

you know we can talk about anything we

can do it through skype email phone or

whatever you need

so these are my five tips for you and I

hope that you find them helpful and I'm

really looking forward to our session

SO have a great day

Funny Jokes #9 - WHAT TIME IS IT? - Jokes for kids - Duration: 1:48.

WHAT TIME IS IT?

Exhausted from driving, a traveling salesman stopped in this one town, and pulled over

to get an hour or two of sleep.

But the quiet place he chose happened to be one of the streets that the majority of the

towns people used to take their daily run.

The salesman had barely pulled over, and gotten comfortable when a jogger was knocking on

his window, asking, "Excuse me, but do you have the time?"

The man looked at the car clock and answered, "8:15."

The jogger said thanks and left.

The man settled back again, and was just dozing off when there was another knock on the window

and another jogger.

"Excuse me, sir, do you have the time?"

"8:25!"

The jogger said thanks and left.

Now, the man could see other joggers passing by and he knew it was only a matter of time

before another one would be disturbed him.

Hoping to solve his problem he took out a pen and paper and put a sign in his window

saying, "I do not know the time!"

Again he settled back to sleep, and was just dozing off when there was another knock on

the window.

"Sir, sir?

It's 8:45!"

Learn English - Ten Everyday English Situations for Chinese Speakers (with subtitles) - Duration: 9:14.

Hello everyone and welcome to 'English

Tips for Speakers of Chinese Languages'.

Normally, every week, I present to you one

common English mistake made by Chinese

speakers, but this week I'm going to do

things a little bit different. This week

I'm going to present to you ten everyday

English situations, and teach you how to

handle yourself in those situations.

Let's get started.

I thought it would be best if I

presented to you a list of the ten

everyday situations, and then you can look

at them and then you can try to decide

yourself how you would handle it.

Then I will talk about each one. You can

see how you did after that. Here is

the list here.

Just one other quick thing: so you will probably have to pause the

video, and think about each answer

individually.

I just want to say from the start

that 'How are you?' is a very good and

acceptable way to say something. It's

a good fallback . You can always say 'How

are you?' in every situation. Actually,

you have to use it, I think, in very

formal situations and the situation where

you don't know somebody so well. That

being said, I actually don't say 'How are

you?' very often in my life because I'm

not often in those situations. I say these

other phrases. I've made a list for

you in the slide that follow this

section. I divided them into two

parts: there's the questions that start with 'how'

and the questions that start with 'what'.

They have different answers which I'll

talk about in the section that follows

the slide. The 'how' questions are 'How are

you doing?' (that's very common),

'How's everything going?' (that's also very

common), 'How's it going?'

(that's probably the one I say the most) and

'How are things going?' Then the 'what'

section.

'What's up?' (that's actually very common as

well), 'What's going on?' and 'What have you

been up to?'

So the textbook answer to 'How are you?'

in every textbook around the world is 'I'm fine

thank you, and you ?' Again, it's a very

acceptable answer. It's a good fallback

answer, but in reality, we don't actually

say that very much. We answer in many

different ways. If you're doing very

well, you could say 'Great, actually. How

about you?' Two things with this: The

word 'actually' is a great word that

you should really get into your vocabulary

(we say it all the time) and notice I said

'How about you?' so I reflect the question

back to you.

That's a very important skill. You

could also say 'Not bad. How's it going

with you`?' and that's probably the one I say

the most because it's pretty neutral -- you're not doing fantastic,

you're not doing bad, so not bad. Then again, I reflect the

question back to you. If you're doing

a little bit negative, you could say 'It

could be better. I guess.

How are you doing?' So, again, you're reflecting

the question. If you're doing

terrible --

and if you're speaking to the right

person -- you can say 'Awful, actually. It's

been a rough week-

How are you?' Again, I reflect the

question back to you.

Ok, so those are the 'how' questions,

right? With the 'what' questions it's

actually pretty easy. If you say...if I say

to you... or if you say to me 'What's up?' I

could say 'Not much. What's up with you?'

'Not much' is a very good answer to the

'what' questions.

The standard response to 'thank you' is

of course 'You're welcome' and this is a

very good response, and you can use it in

any situation...and I do use it quite a

lot. I think I more often say 'No

problem' --

that's a good response to 'thank you'.

You might have learned that you could

say 'My pleasure', and this is ok, but it's

a little bit too much, and a little bit

too formal and I wouldn't use it very

much.

Okay, a few

responses to 'I'm sorry'. Again, I think it

depends on the level of the apology.

If it's..if somebody's just a little bit sorry

about something, you could say 'Don't

worry about it.' or 'It's ok . It's no

problem.' that might be a good response.

If it's a huge apology, and it really

affects your life, and the person says 'I'm

really really sorry.'

you could say, 'Apology accepted.'

This one is actually the easiest of

the bunch. Let's say you ask me 'Can

you hand me the marker?' I would say

one of two things: I would say 'Here you

go.' or 'Here you are.' So 'Here you go.' 'Here

you are.'

That's about it

I have just cooked a dinner and I have

friends and family around, and I want

them to start eating because they're

waiting patiently and politely. I think

what I would say in an informal

situation is 'Dig in.'

so just start eating. I could also say,

for example, 'Help yourself.'

So just start eating, basically.

In this familiar phrase that's used in

many languages around the world, if you

want people to enjoy the food in English

then we usually use the French. So you

would say 'Bon appetit'. If you don't

want to use that foreign language, then

you could say 'Enjoy your meal.'

I'm introduced to somebody. Let's say

someone says 'This is Timo.' I would

say 'Nice to meet you.' Then Timo would

say to me back,

'Nice to meet you, too.' It's always good

to say 'Nice to meet you, too.' You

shouldn't hesitate to do that.

I just wanted to talk a little bit

about a mistake I hear a lot. The

first time you meet somebody you say

'Nice to meet you.', but that's the only

time you ever say 'Nice to meet you.' to

somebody. After that, you say 'Nice to

see you.' or Nice to see you again.'

It's very common in English to say

'Have a nice day.' and the proper response

to that is 'Same to you' or just 'you too'.

This applies for many situations.

'Merry Christmas.' 'Same to you.' 'You too.'

'Happy New Year.'

'Same to you.' 'You too.'

Yeah, so 'goodbye' is a very standard

response, and it's a very good response and

you can fall back on it.

However, it's the same kind of thing as these

other things. We don't actually say

it that, that often. I will give you some

examples of other things you might say.

You could say just 'bye.' You could say

'bye-bye.'

You could say 'See you later.' and I think

that's the thing I probably say the most. You

could say 'Take care' , and 'Take care' is

very nice. It's...it's not overdoing it,

and it's kind of a kind way to say

goodbye.

You could say 'So long' which is something

I also say a lot. You could say -- to be

totally informal -- 'Have a good one.'

That might be the informal one you might

have in your arsenal.

Youngstown Police issued a

warrant out for a 14-year old

suspect.

Around 3:15 this afternoon, a

mother and her son walked into

the Youngstown

Police Department side by side.

WE ARE KIND OF SUPRISED THAT IT

IS A 14-YEAR OLD KID THAT DID

THIS.

On February 6th, he attempted to

rob 57 year old Ellen Zban while

she was sitting

in her car in her own driveway.

Before she could give him her

wallet, he shot

her three times. Once in the

face and twice in the arm.

WHEN A YOUNG KID PUTS A GUN IN

HIS HAND HE STOPS BEING A YOUNG

KID

AT THAT TIME. For weeks,

friends and people in the

community rallied behind

Ellen... Even putting up a

$2500 reward to find

the shooter. Tonight Ellen

says, she can't hate the kid

for what he did to her.

I DON'T LIKE WHAT HE DID BUT

I'VE BEEN TOO FORTUNATE AND

THERE'S JUST BEEN TOO MUCH THAT

WAS POSITIVE THAT I CAN'T HATE

HIM FOR THAT. She said she was

shocked to hear he

was just 14-years old.

THAT REALLY AFFECTED ME BECAUSE

YOU THINK ABOUT 14

YEAR OLDS THAT YOU KNOW AND

THAT'S JUST SO YOUNG AND JUST

SO MUCH LIFE AHEAD OF YOU. Ellen

said she gives credit to the

mother for

bringing her son in.

I MEAN AT SOME POINT YOU JUST

HAVE TO FEEL FOR THE FAMILY. I

MEAN

HOW DO YOU FEEL AS A PARENT SO I

DO FEEL FOR THE MOTHER FOR

HAVING TO DO THAT. Ellen said

she's lucky to have survived...

AND he's lucky that she was

defenseless.

GET HIM OFF THE STREETS AND

HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE A WAKE UP

CALL. I DON'T KNOW. BUT AT LEAST

NO ONE ELSE WILL BE HURT

SO MAYBE IT'LL BE A GOOD ENDING

FOR EVERYBODY. [A12]20170304

Liutenant Bobovnick also told me

today it will be up to the

juvenile court if he's going to

be charged as a juvenile or an

adult.

How is Ellen doing as far as

recovery?

Molly: She said she's doing

well, and she found out she

won't have to have as many

surgeries as she thought to fix

her eye and face. She said she's

very lucky and

that it could have been a lot

worse
