Toady lets see how to make everyones favorite Tamarind Rice
First lets start with making Puliodarai Mix.
Dry roast 1 tbsp Chann dal,
and 1 tbsp Urad dal for a couple of minutes
Once the dal changes it color a little bit ,
add 1 tsp of coriander seeds,
1 tsp pepper corns
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
4 dry red chilies
After adding all the ingredients roast it nicely
Once you feel the nice aroma of the roasted spices,
Turn off the heat and add 1/2 tsp of asafoetida.
mix once and let the mixture cool.
Once the mixture cools completely, grind it to a fine powder.
You can grind these 7 ingredients and keep it handy,
and use it when ever you make puliodarai.
Now to make Puliodarai mix, lets heat some oil.
We will need 5-6 tbsp of oil to make this recipe.
Use gingelly oil to get traditional taste.
Now lets heat up the oil.
Once the oil is hot add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
Once the seeds splutters, add 1 tbsp channa dal
1 tbsp Urad dal.
Also add 4-5 dry red chilies,
and few curry leaves.
Add 1/4 tsp of Asafoetida,
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Add 1/4 cup of Peanuts, we can also add cashews.
Then add the freshly ground powder
Now its time to add the tamarind extract.
I have soaked 1 big lemon sized tamarind (1/4 cup) in water for 30 minutes.
Now lets add the tamarind extract.
Now the mixture may looks little watery,
but soon it will thicken and get to the right consistency.
Now itself the oil has started to separate, but we need to cook for some more time.
Until Halwa consistency.
Once the mixture thickens, add required salt.
Now you can see the mixture has thickened and oil has oozed out.
It is nice and thick (halwa consistency). Lets turn off the heat.
If you feel that your puliodarai is little sour then add a small piece of jaggery to balance the taste.
Once the mixture cools completely , store it in air tight container.
Now lets mix this with rice.
Rice should not be overcooked and sticking to one another.
Add required amount of Puliodarai mix and mix it nicely with rice.
That's it our tamarind rice is ready to be served.
It will stay fresh for long time

Korea resumes preparations to transport Sewol-ho ferry to Mokpo - Duration: 2:01.
Korea is resuming preparations to transport the recovered Sewol-ho ferry to Mokpo... as
scheduled.
The operation was halted briefly last night, when authorities found bone fragments inside
the ferry that turned out to be those of an animal.
Kim Jung-soo bring us the latest.
The news that human bone fragments had been found inside the Sewol-ho ferry had raised
speculation that the vessel -- which is currently loaded on top of a semi-submersible ship -- would
not leave for Mokpo on Thursday as scheduled.
But it now appears the Oceans and Fisheries Ministry will go ahead with the original plan.
The semi-submersible is now expected to arive at Mokpo New Port on Friday, after covering
a distance of 105 kilometers in 8 hours.
After its arrival, the ferry will be relocated on land, a process that will start by
emptying the ferry of accumulated seawater and other chemical wastes.
It's expected the vessel will be stabilized on land around April 5th.
Once that happens, investigators will begin looking for the remains of nine still-missing
victims... under the supervision of an eight-member Sewol-ho ferry investigative committee...
inaugurated by lawmakers on Tuesday.
The same committee is reportedly holding its first meeting in Mokpo on Wednesday afternoon.
It's reportedly inviting the families of the missing to be part of the discussion on possible
approaches to finding the remains.
The task is expected to prove difficult in part because the ship is lying on its left
side, which will make it harder for investigators to move through the vessel safely than if
it were upright.
The ministry is currently planning to separate the top three decks from the rest of the ship
so it can set that portion of the ship upright,... but the families of the missing reportedly
object to that method, fearing that it will have a negative impact on investigative attempts
to determine what caused the ferry to capsize.

Why the Keystone XL Matters - Duration: 5:53.

Let's talk about the Keystone XL pipeline
The Keystone XL connects the tar sands of Alberta, Canada
with the Gulf of Mexico
which doesn't sound like much,
but the Keystone XL is way more just a pipeline.
I don't know who named this thing,
but they picked the perfect name
because it really is the keystone
holding up all of the tar sands mining operations.
Just like the keystone in an arch...

That's the Keystone XL pipeline:

Without that, the whole thing comes tubling down.
So, why do we care about the Keystone XL?
Well, first of all, none of the oil from the tar sands
will ever burn in an American engine,
America is only a hub to get this oil overseas.
It won't create any lasting jobs or power for the United States,
except for construction (and cleaning up inevitable spills)
all the oil and all the jobs go overseas.
Why does this pipeline even need to come through the U.S.?
Because otherwise it would have to go west from Alberta
through the Canadian Rockies and someplace like Vancouver,
and Vancouver is fighting tooth and nail to prevent the XL
because pipelines are leaky and dangerous, and they
do not want it on their doorstep.
And, further north in the Canadian Rockies,
indigenous groups have already won the right
to keep this pipeline out.
So, Canada can't take it out to the west.
To the east, they are trying to convert an old gas pipeline
to get the oil out of St. John', New Brunswick,
but they are also facing stiff opposition
Some of it manages to get out on trains,
and about 300,000 barrels go out through Seattle,
but the only viable way to get the oil out
is to go south, through the U.S., to the Gulf of Mexico
That is the danger of the Keystone XL
and the power of it too because,
by stopping the pipeline, we can stop
the mining of the tar sands which may be the worst thing
that humans have ever thought to do to the planet.
So, what's so bad about the tar sands?
Coal, oil and natural gas all used to be living things
millions of years ago.
They died and collected in places where decomposing bugs
couldn't reach them.
After being buried underground and cooked and pressurized
for a long time, they turned ino fossil fuels.
It takes a lot of heat and pressure to turn dead bodies
into coal, oil and natural gas.
An early step along that path is the formation of bitumen,
which is tar.
That is the same tar they use to pave the roads.
It is sticky, toxic, nearly indestructible,
and it takes a lot of heat and pressure
to turn it into oil.
Normally, bitumen is hidden far underground.
You have to mine it out or hit it with superheated steam
to make it liquid enough to extract.
So, it is crazy expensive to get your hands on,
and once you get it, you still have to cook it
under pressure to turn it into oil.
No one in their right mind would consider it,
and the fact that it is even on the table
means we have exhausted easy oil.
The wells in Texas that explode out of the ground?
Gone.
Even the deep water oil,
is more and more difficult to find.
So, some corporations turn to bitumen,
I mean, it is almost oil, right?
Normally it is buried deep underground
but not in Alberta, Canada.
There are tar sands right under the soil in Alberta.
All you have to do, is get rid of anything living
on the soil,
Strip-mine enormous areas of land,
wash the tar sand with torrents of water,
making the water so toxic that anything exposed to it dies
and then cook the sand using huge amounts of fossil fuel,
and you will get poor quality oil.
The stuff isn't even any good.
It's crap oil.
It's called "heavy crude" and it is so bad
we don't even want it in the United States.
All of the oil is destined for Europe and Asia.
It takes roughly two tons of tar sands
to make one barrel of crappy oil.
That means you have to strip mine miles and miles
of pristine wilderness to get any real amount of oil.
1,300 square miles are leased for strip mining so far,
that's an area the size of Rhode Island,
and an area the size of Florida is under consideration.
Not all of that will be strip mined, but still...
Florida.
The statistic most often used to talk about the wastefulness
of the tar sands
is that the tar sands already consume
2X the amount of water as the city of Calgary-
Calgary?
which means the tar sands use the water of
3 million people every year
because it takes 12 barrels of water
to free one barrel of bitumen.
All that water makes tailings ponds so large
that they can be seen from space,
and so toxic that they have to put cannons around them
to scare away any wildlife
So extracting oil from the tar sands is far dirtier
than any other method of oil extraction,
but it also uses far more fossil fuel.
Estimates vary from the conservative side
that say it takes 14% more fossil fuel
to the hysterical side that says
you barely get out more oil than you put in.
Everyone agrees that it takes
a lot more fossil fuel
to extract bitumen and turn it into oil
than to get oil any other way
With the Keystone XL pipeline,
they can greatly expand their production of oil
because they can finally get all that crappy oil
out of Canada, because, guess what?
Canada doesn't want it either.
And, the oil companies are desperate.
That's why the Keystone XL matters:
because with it they can move all that crappy oil,
and greatly expand the destruction of the tar sands.
Without the Keystone, that oil is stuck where no one wants it,
the tar sands stop being viable,
and that's the end of their story.

Ex-President Park to attend arrest warrant hearing on Thursday - Duration: 2:04.
Former President Park Geun-hye is about to make a rare appearance.
The disgraced former leader says she will attend a court hearing set for Thursday morning
to review the prosecution's request for an arrest warrant.
Our Hwang Ho-jun leads us off... with the big announcement.
Park Geun-hye will appear at the Seoul Central District Court on Thursday morning for a court
hearing on the prosecution's request for an arrest warrant.
Legal experts say Park might make another bid to deny the charges against her.
If she does appear, she will be the first ex-president to do so,... since the courts
started holding warrant hearings 20 years ago.
The state prosecutors' office announced on Monday they were seeking an arrest warrant
for Park, based on the severity of the charges against her... and because there is a risk
she could destroy evidence.
Their request came after prosecutors and investigators had worked over the weekend to review Park's
responses during their 14-hour interrogation of her last Tuesday.
The former president is facing 13 charges, including bribery, abuse of power and coercion.
Prosecutors say Park abused her position and authority by letting her close confidante
Choi Soon-sil extort tens of millions of dollars from conglomerates.
She's also accused of leaking confidential presidential office documents to Choi.
Park has so far denied all the charges against her.
Park and her legal team are known to have spent a considerable amount of time preparing
for the hearing.
The prosecution is also getting ready... and the district court is already tightening security
around the area.
After the hearing,... the court will deliberate... and watchers say a decision is likely by early
Friday morning.
If the court grants the warrant, prosecutors will have up to 20 days to continue their
investigation and file formal charges against her.
If Park is arrested, she will become the country's third former president to be arrested for
criminal allegations following Roh Tae-woo and Chun Doo-hwan.
If she's convicted of receiving bribes from conglomerates, including Samsung, she could
be facing more than 10 years in jail.
