Top 3 Bodyweight Exercises for Chest - Duration: 3:49.

Todays video is about the chest muscles.

Before we start, i want to give you some quick tips that you have to keep in mind for your

workout, so you can progress and get better.

Firstly, you need to keep in mind that your chest has four parts.

These are the upper, lower, inner and outer.

Most of the chest exercises work all these parts at once,

but in order to get the best results, you should train these parts separately as well.

Another important factor is to always increase the resistance and the stress on the muscles.

You can achieve these by altering and doing new types of exercises, increasing the reps

and sets.

You should also perform the moves correctly like all other

exercises.

I have seen so many people doing standard pushups badly.

Focus on your pecs and do the full range of motion.

When i started doing pushups i felt more tense in my back and arms.

try to really feel your chest working.

Finally, do not forget to stretch regularly.

It helps to avoid injuries, develop strength, as well as the size, and you will be able

to perform the moves more correctly.

So, starting with exercise number one.

Push ups and its variations.

They strengthen and develop not only all the chest muscles,

but also shoulders, triceps, and even the core.

It is an all in one move.

For the upper chest, you need to raise your feet.

For example, you put them on a chair.

The lower the angle, the easier it is, but do not put your feet

too high as it will put more tension on your shoulders.

For the lower chest, you should the push ups in a decline position.

This movement is not so hard so you may want to raise the number of sets and reps.

For the outer part, you need to place your hands wider.

For the inner part, you want to put your hands closer.

The second best exercise is Dips.

It is recommended for triceps, but if you lean forward a bit it works the pecs,

especially the outer ones well.

You can do it on parallel bars or rings.

Finally, i recommend doing chest isometrics.

Many people are skeptic if this move works, but the muscle strain you will feel the next

day will prove that it worked.

Assume a push up position and go down till the mid point.

Exhale fully and hold this position for 3 sets of 30 seconds.

Make sure your muscles feel tense.

As you see, you can have efficient chest workouts at home without lifting weights.

You do not need any equipment at all, and you can do these routines and exercises whenever

and wherever you want.

Lets recap again.

1st: push ups and its variations 2nd: Dips, where you lean forward to target

your chest 3rd.

Isometrics, which means holding the push up position

Searching for an article from a citation - Duration: 4:22.

So we're going to solve the problem of finding a journal article that you've read about in other scholarship.

Let's look at an example of something that can happen often, which is that you're reading a particularly good article and you notice an article that that article has cited.

In this case, the article that I'm reading is from a journal called Transgender Health.

The title of the article is "The association between geographic location and anxiety and depression in transgender individuals: an exploratory study of an online sample."

And I'm noticing that there is a reference, a cited article, that I want to follow up on.

This one is by Abelson, it's titled "'You aren't from around here': race, masculinity, and rural transgender men."

This article was published in the journal Gender, Place & Culture in 2016, and I can see from the citation that it was published in volume 23, issue 11.

So I'm going to try to get my hands on this article. I want to know if I have access to this article through the PSU library.

To find out, I'll need to go to the PSU library catalog, and I'm going to try using the front page search engine.

Since I know the title of the article, I'll type that into the search box:

"You aren't from around here: race, masculinity, and rural transgender men".

I'm putting the title in quotations so the search engine understands to look for these words in the exact order.

Now I'm going to click on the "Search" icon.

As long as I've spelled everything correctly, and assuming PSU has access to the article, I'll see it in the results, which I do here.

To open the article I'll need to select the "View Online" link

and I can see that we have access to all the volumes of the journal this article was published in beginning with volume 2 in 1995.

My 2016 article should be here

so I'll select the link, and that will bring me to the article.

I also see that I can access a PDF of the article by selecting the PDF link.

And with this particular article, I'm able to download a regular PDF or an interactive PDF that I can mark-up or take notes on.

So there it is.

But what happens if you are at the library home page and you type your article title into the search box

but don't see your article in the results list right away?

I have another way to go.

If I've tried searching at the article level and didn't get the results I wanted,

then I can try searching at the journal level instead.

Luckily, the citation provided in my original article was complete

and I know the title of the journal from which the article was published,

and also the volume and issue number. So I'm going to search for the article at the journal level.

To do this, I'll go to Research Tools & Collections

where I'll find a link to search through PSU's Journal holdings.

Now the search box has changed a little bit.

I can search by the title of the journal, which I know from looking at the citation.

I'm going to type in "gender, place & culture" and run my search.

Here's the record for the journal and I can see that I have online access by selecting the "View Online" link.

This looks similar to the first search for the article,

but clicking on Taylor & Francis eJournals will bring me to the journal's homepage instead.

From here I can see a list of issues organized by date

and I know that I need to find volume 23 published in 2016.

Here it is.

When I select this link, I'm brought to all of the issues published in 2016.

I'm looking for issue 11, which I know because a proper citation was provided in the reference list of my original article.

Now I'll go into issue 11

and looking at the articles I can see the one I want right here, it's the 2nd one listed.

I have a few options at this point.

Clicking on the title will give me access to the full text of the article as an html webpage

and I can also access a PDF of the document here.

However, if I knew I wanted the PDF in the first place,

I could have selected the PDF link from one of the options under the article title.

And remember, if you need help, ask a librarian.

ARE HERE. GOOD MORNING.

>> GOOD MORNING. >> THIS IS FUN.

THESE ARE THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO TO GIVE IT TLC.

>> SO TO SPEAK. >> SHOWS ON TLC.

I DIDN'T DO IT ON PURPOSE. YOUR FIRST TIP IS TO KIND OF

PERSONALIZE. >> DEFINITELY.

>> ONE OF THE THINGS WE ALWAYS DO, WE BRING THINGS HOME FROM

OUR TRAVELS. WE NEVER BUY WHAT OTHER THINKS

ARE SOUVENIR. BASKETS ARE GREAT TO BRING HOME.

>> THERE'S ALWAYS A GREAT BASKET THERE.

AND YOU CAN BACK THIS FLAT. BUT THE IDEA OF HANGING THESE

THINGS ON YOUR WALL IS GREAT. THIS IS OUR VRGS OF AN ENTRY.

AND THEN, USE BASKETS, AS WELL, FOR DECOR BUT STORAGE.

AND ONE HOT TREND, IS JUST THROW A TASSEL ON SOMETHING.

>> REALLY? >> JEWELRY, ALL OVER THE PLACE.

>> YOU FIND A TASSEL AND THROW IT ON THERE.

>> PERSONALIZATION. >> YOU'RE JUST SPRUCING IT UP.

>> SMALL TOUCHES THAT MAKE THE SPACE FEEL LIKE IT HAS AN EXTRA

LAYER. >> IF DECOR CAN BE STORAGE,

THAT'S A GOOD THING, RIGHT? LET'S MOVE OVER TO THIS FARM

TABLE. AND YOU'RE INCORPORATING NATURE,

WHICH IS WONDERFUL. >> ONE OF THE THINGS ABOUT

NATURE IS IT'S INEXPENINEXPENSI. YOU CAN BUY FLOWERS AT THE

GROCERY STORE. AND YOU CAN DO A SERIES OF THEM.

AIR PLANTS.

GEODES. IT FEELS ASSEMBLED OVER TIME.

IF YOU'RE NOT SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY, YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE AN

INSTANT INTERIOR. >> ONE OF THE THINGS WE BELIEVE,

IS YOUR SPACE SHOULD NOT FEEL PRECIOUS.

WE LIKE A DINING ROOM TABLE. EVERYBODY COMES THERE.

YOUR COFFEE, YOUR MAGAZINES. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

>> WE HAVE MEETINGS THERE. WE HAVE A 2-YEAR-OLD.

THERE'S CRAYONS ALL OVER OUR TABLE.

>> EXACTLY. CAN'T BE TOO FANCY.

I DID NOTICE. I HAVE AN EYE FOR DETAIL, YOU

HAVE THE MISMATCHED CHAIRS, WHICH IS FUN.

>> WE TRIED TO GET THAT BY YOU, SAVANNAH.

>> I'M ON MY GAME THIS MORNING. >> YOUR AWAKE.

IF YOU CAN FIND A PAIR OF CHAIRS FOR LESS MONEY THAN A SET OF 12.

THESE ARE MID CENTURY AND WE PAIRED THEM WITH A VINTAGE FARM

TABLE. WE THINK IT LOOKS GOOD.

>> HOW DO YOU -- THERE'S MISMATCH THAT LOOKS GOOD.

AND THERE'S MISMATCH THAT'S JUST MISMATCHED.

>> LOOKS LIKE YOU RAIDED YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE.

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT WORK TOGETHER?

>> IF YOU GO AROUND THE OBJECTS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU.

AND THE TRUTH IS, HAVE FUN WITH DESIGN.

TAKE SOME RISKS. USE THINGS IN A WAY YOU NEVER

THOUGHT OF, A TEXT TILE OR RUGS ALL OVER THE PLACE IN DIFFERENT

PATTERNS. >> AND PLAY WITH THE AGE OF

THINGS. THAT'S ANYTHING.

EVERYBODY, WHEN THEY START TO DESIGN THEIR SPACE, THEY BUY

EVERYTHING NEW. GO TO VINTAGE FINDS, FLEA

MARKETS, ESTATE SALES. THINGS WITH MORE CHARACTER.

>> WE'RE STANDING ON ONE OF THE TRENDS, TO LAYER RUGS.

TELL ME ABOUT THIS. >> THIS IS HIS FAVORITE THING.

>> I'M BAD AT THIS. >> PEOPLE THINK THAT RUGS ARE

EXPENSIVE. AND THERE'S A LOT OF GREAT RUGS

OUT THERE THAT ARE NOT EXTENSIVE.

BY LAYERING THEM, ESPECIALLY SMALLER SIZES, NOT ONLY CAN YOU

REFRESH YOUR SPACE, BUT YOU CAN CHANGE IT WITH SEASONS.

>> MOVE OVER TO OUR FINAL SCENE HERE.

AND LOOKING AT WALL ART. THINKING THAT'S EXPENEXPENSIVE.

YOU DO A 3D THING. >> THINK OF OBJECTS AS ARTWORK.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE AN EXPENSIVE PAINTING OR A

PHOTOGRAPH. THESE ARE WICKERED MIRRORS.

IF YOU GROUP OBJECTS TOGETHER, THAT'S A STRONG STATE.

WE USE THAT ON OUR SHOW. ALL THESE TIPS AND TRICKS ARE

THINGS WE WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW.

DESIGN SHOULDN'T BE SCARY. AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO UPDATE

YOUR HOME FOR SPRING IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY WITHOUT SPENDING A

TON OF HUNDRED AND PANICKING. >> AND YOU HAVE THE PLANTS,

INCORPORATING NATURE. HOW DO YOU MAKE THE FLOWERS LOOK

GOOD LIKE THAT? >> THAT'S YOUR PRODUCTION STAFF.

ISTE 2016 Ignites | Make digital learning accessible for all students - Duration: 5:39.

good afternoon my name is Rhianon Gutierrez and I'm going to talk about how my

disability is an opportunity in professional learning. usually within the

first few minutes of a presentation I disclose my disability. since I really

have only five minutes I'm just going to tell you right now I'm hard of hearing.

ever since I was a child I've been passionate about accessibility and one

of my really good friends said to me if you don't speak up, no one else will.

so with that in mind I've been thinking way back about advocacy. my grandmother and

my mother were very strong advocates for me. they worked to ensure that i had

access in education. as a result, i'm a strong advocate today. i apply this in my

work and I learned about Universal Design for Learning or UDL in graduate school.

UDL has changed the way that I teach and learn. whenever I look at

media I think about four things: alt text in images, captions in videos,

transcripts for full access and a structure in web pages. as educators in

this room, we have the power with this content, we have the power to curate it.

we can curate how, when, where and what other people learn, so think about these

four things when you're curating content. whenever I see a gap in something I look

at it as a challenge and the challenge becomes an opportunity. I reach out to

content creators and curators to help them think about creating more inclusive

design that is guided by UDL principles. now I told you I have disability I don't

see it as a limitation or something to overcome, it is an opportunity. I can't

just think about my own disability I just start there. this student that you

see here, he's also deaf. can you believe that face? he's just jumping right into that computer.

do you think he would have the same response if the media was not accessible?

think about that. this is why I do what I do. these tools on the screen. we have the power

to choose wisely and make sure that we curate accessible media for all: that's

learners and that's teachers, that's everyone in this room. for example,

consider a YouTube video: 40 minutes, one hour, the most amazing webinar or even

the most amazing five-minute short and it's not accessible. so what does that

mean for your audience? I'd like to see that change in my school district and

globally, so I have to model this. I make sure to caption my videos, I make sure to

add transcripts this also includes podcasts. I have to model because that's

how i can see change. it is so important in this process to cultivate

relationships. i bring value to my team, but i also learn a lot from them, too

because i cannot work in isolation. we must be a team. the colleagues that i

have come to know in the past year in person and on twitter have enriched my

practice as a 21st century educator and these are my two fellow digital learning

specialists on screen I've learned so much from them. and working at the

district level has helped me cultivate strong relationships, to learn

more about adult learning, to learn more about supporting English language learners,

and students with disabilities, and also to continue on. Read&Write is one of the tools in my district

adopted in the past year. and this tool allowed me to see where we needed to

support our students and teachers. I was fortunate to be a leader in teaching my

entire district about this tool and Google classroom was one of those platforms. it demonstrates UDL principles

in really powerful ways. my passion for UDL has and continues to help me make

connections in the Boston Public Schools and beyond. and this ties to my next idea the big

picture matters. we must think about inclusive design. everyone in this room

can be a champion for inclusive design. teachers are learners, too. we know this

and we must constantly think about this. I teach teachers how to better use

technology, but I also teach them how to work with students like me and the boy

who want to jump into our computers because we are so engaged and on that

note, there's power in design and curation, there is power in the content that you can create. you can learn about

web accessibility standards, you can learn how to put captions in YouTube videos,

and you can use Google Docs or Microsoft Word to create transcripts. we

can't say, "I'll do it later" because later is now. we're all learners and teachers.

thank you
