Hello Growth obsessed people and welcome to number 2 of our growth insights series where
we help you stay ahead of the game by diving into the brains of our growth team and community.
Let's kick off with some traffic generation channels:
We know that channels decay over time, they become more expensive and saturated as consumers
develop an attentional filter.
So let's look at few channels we're excited about at the moment.
We just recently got into Snapchat geofilters.
Now, this channel is still quite virgin, we're testing them in house this week..
Here's a full guide on how to get you started.
Another Channel we are super excited about at the moment, that's getting a lot of buzz
is influencer marketing.
Aaron, Steph and Bob from Tripanner tested a bucketload of pay to play influencer marketing channels.
The one that came out as the winner was Revfluence.
They have strong ties with the influencers, they give you audience data on the influencers
and they map out which stage of the relationship you're in.
What's really great is that you control the content, so, for example, you can include
a retargeting pixel in the content that gets published.
Another platform that works really well is Klear.com.
Here's another cool channel you might not have thought of…
And the channel is paying to be inside of newsletters.
A tool like inthenewsletter.com makes this possible.
Thanks to Thomas from Minibrew for recommending this.
The same Thomas also recommended this action packed 7 minute video by growth hustler Noah
Kagan...Noah talks about a lot of untapped channels for 2017 that will definitely feed your
appetite He mentions Free software as a lead gen...
Paid marketing on untapped channels like Reddit, Craigslist, Instagram ads from influencers.
And he also talks about acquisition as marketing…
Which is basically small failing startups from product hunt that have really big email lists.
Just watch the video...it's really full of information.
Now, of course traditional channels work really well if you know how to optimise them.
If you're still keen on running PPC campaigns and want to optimize them...
Mark, one of Crowdyhouse's co-founders, uses this tool to improve the performance of his
PPC campaigns.
According to him he was able to achieve up to 500% increase on his ROI with this ai backed technology.
Now once you've used those channels you are driving people to your website or to your app or your product.
Here's a really cool little study done by Drift on the average response time of sales
teams or customers teams to leads on a website…
As you can see is kind of painful, the great majority of companies take way too long to respond.
So, drift.com is probably the best live chat tool that Jim has seen on the market so far...and
I think he's tried them all.
There's also a live view so you can see which companies are visiting your website in real time.
We also mostly deeply fell in love with the automatic response bots that give you some extra
time to answer and it usually sends customers to the right person or department.
Speaking of bots, Flowxo allows you to create chatbots without any code.
There have integrations with all of the major players like Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp,
SMS, you name it.
Now, if you want those leads to convert faster, you can also use two of Cialdini's principles.
Which are social proof and scarcity, also known as Fomo, fear of missing out.
Usefomo.com, through a very simple script, allows you to add some virtual scarcity to
your website, just like Booking.com does.
Ok, now let's do some essential reading.
So, I hope you've got customers personas.
But how refined are your personas?
This is a great article by ConversionXL about How Data-Driven Marketers are using data to
create Psychographic personas - that's even richer personas based on behavior, based on
context and sometimes even based on personality types.
By the way, some argue that similar personas were used to target specific people by Cambridge
Analytica and help in how Trump got elected in the previous election despite having a
smaller budget than Hillary.
I really recommend reading these two articles, they are super rich in information...
Watch this 10 minute video, it's scary as heck...
Now do you still want to get into machine learning?
Last episode I shared a really cool course that I was taking on Coursera...
Jeddi sent me this even more fast paced and entertaining intro course to machine learning,
that's accessbile to anyone and amazingly captivating.
And now for some buzzwords.
Here's the buzzword of the month...The Uncanny Valley.
We heard about it on Sam Harris's podcast… it's that weird stage when a robot looks
enough like a human to look real but also super freaky at the same time, because it
doesn't looks human enough.
So if you want to look cool at your next party, you can use that buzzword.
Jim's favorite article is on Slack and Automation, and it got all the automations
that slack uses to make your worklife more automated and faster.
Now, another important tool for any technical marketer is knowing how to run SQL queries.
This allows you to uncover insights from your data.
Why bother?
Thomas shares a realy intresting article on how one SQL query made thousands in 15 minutes
for this company.
Speaking of leads...here is Quentin's favourite tool from the past couples weeks.
It's called Marketfox.io, it's an inbound marketing automation software.
It is a little bit powered by machine learning and AI and it basically helps businesses to
attract more visitors, create larger pipelines and engage customers more closely with more
deals.
And as usual we are gonna recomend a book during this series.
Now I'm gonna do something a little bit weird...I'm gonna recommend a book that
I actually haven't even red yet.
But the author is so legit I'll recommend it anyway.
Sean Ellis and Mogan Brown are launching Hacking Growth, you can get you pre-order here, and
