Houzz, Jenna Fischer, Full, Gaurav, 23-03-17

Home means to me... family

Home is the place where I feel most comfortable

It's where I'm with the people I love the most...

...my husband, my kids my sister, my parents

My family are my best friends

I'm Jenna Fischer and this is "My Houzz"

Even though I've lived in Los Angeles for 20 years now...

...when I say I'm going home I mean St. Louis

It's a very cosmopolitan city...

...but it also has those great people, mid-western values...

...and that's what I love about this town

I grew up in a little neighbourhood in Ballwin, Missouri...

...which is one of the suburbs of St. Louis

Any Fischer family event...

...a lot of times it happened at my grandma and grandpa's house

This house was actually designed by my grandfather

My dad grew up in this house with his brother Don

At Christmas time they would always put up a tree...

...and my grandpa would put a train around the tree...

...and we would have like a special grandma-grandpa Christmas

My sister Emily...

...had a particularly special relationship...

...with our grandpa

...and so the house always meant so much to her

So then when my grandma said that she was ready to sell...

...her and her husband bought the house...

...and we were all really excited

...that the house was gonna stay in the family

The house worked okay for them at first...

...because they were just a newly married couple...

...but now, they're a family of four and as each kid came...

...that house started to feel more cramped

When I think of my sister...

...I think of acts of service

Emily is a school teacher

She'll stay after school to tutor kids or...

She works with this great group called Girls on the Run...

...that's just all about...

...trying to enhance the self-esteem of middle school girls

It comes so naturally to her to put herself last

I think that's just the thing about her that I admire so much

And so this is all about really giving to Emily...

...like, giving Emily...

...the type of renovation that will make Emily's life easier...

...and Emily's life more comfortable

When I was growing up...

...and visiting my grandparents in that house...

...they treated the dining room like a formal dining room...

...but that's not how my sister uses it

The dining room has really oversized furniture

The kitchen needs new appliances they're from the '80s

But the biggest thing about the kitchen...

...is how completely closed off it is from the rest of the house...

...and there's just kind of a mismatch aspect...

...to the living room right now

I live in Los Angeles

This house is in St. Louis

It's not going to help me to hire an LA designer

With the help of Houzz...

...I decided to renovate my sister's house in St. Louis

Houzz is a website...

...and it has everything you need...

...to redesign and remodel your house from start to finish

They have designers, you can get ideas...

...you can even buy things...

...all in one place

I was able to research...

...all of these St. Louis designers on Houzz...

...and I could see immediately from the reviews on Jenny's profile...

...that people loved not only the work that she did...

...but they loved working with her...

...and I could see...

...the thought that she put into each renovation

After I reviewed her profile, I picked up the phone...

...I gave her a call and we just clicked right away

Jenny told me she was going to be in Los Angeles...

...so that we could meet in person and talk about some ideas

I'm just so excited to give this to my sister...

...because there's just no-one I know who deserves it more

Let's talk about Emily

There are so many little things about my sister's house that don't work

When Emily and her husband are in the kitchen cooking dinner...

...they're completely separated from their kids

For them to be able to communicate...

...between those two rooms is starting to get kind of essential

So one of the other problems for my sister's house is that...

...their garage leads to a door...

...where they're entering their dining room...

...and so their dining room becomes kind of the dumping ground...

...of the backpacks...

...the kids color do their art projects at that table

My sister is all about family

She decorates with family photos and with the kids' art

We definitely want to incorporate that back into the new design...

...but maybe in a more organized way

I think that's fine

The living room works okay...

...it's being overrun with bins of toys and art supplies...

...that could really use some closed doors

Another thing is the front door

The door knob is in like the middle of the door

All right, door, gone

Okay, good

Here's my big idea

I want to knock down the wall...

...between the living room and the kitchen...

...and also the kitchen and the dining room

I know there's a stairway there...

...so good luck

That is a great idea

And I think actually, we can fit in an island

That would be great

Okay, so let's talk about the TV

So that's the other thing

Right now they have it like in this corner...

...between their fireplace and their living room window

Does she have a preference of where the TV would go?

Well, my sister wants it above the fireplace

I think above the fireplace makes it too high

Houzz has this great feature it's called Design Dilemma

You can post your Design Dilemma and get advice from the community

- So we can put the dilemma out there - Okay

- And let the people decide - Okay

So I went on Houzz and I started my ideabook...

- Yeah. - ...which I sent you

We've been collaborating on Houzz

So an ideabook is a place where you can save...

...all of your favourite photos...

...for all your home improvement projects

- It's completely addictive - Yeah

I'm not going to tell you how many hours...

...I've spent looking at pictures

Well, I know because I get an alert every time you add a picture

Oh, that's right

Emily loves the beach and the ocean...

...and so I kind of want to bring that idea...

...into the house somehow

I like this particular picture...

...in terms of describing that beachy feel

I love it that it looks polished but it doesn't look formal

I sent you this picture...

...and this is another thing...

...I want for the overall feel of their house

That sectional, I love it I want it

Okay

Houzz has this tool called Visual Match...

...that helps you find similar products on Houzz...

...and it makes shopping a whole lot easier

So when you click it...

...right underneath, the sofa comes up...

Are you saying I can have this couch?

- I'm saying you can have this couch - Yes!

I love it

We'll keep shopping we're still shopping

- Okay, we'll keep shopping - Okay, let's buy more things

Okay

So one thing I wanted to bring up is my memories of this house...

...when I was a kid were sitting on the floor...

...and so making even the floor a comfortable place...

...is important to me

My grandpa loved to get on the floor and play with us

We'd play cards, we'd do puzzles...

...unwrap Christmas presents...

...and we still do that

It's sort of a tradition of Emily's house

I found this rug

that I think looks really plush and comfortable

Yeah

Now this is not going to be the exact rug...

...because I still have to work on everything...

...that's going in the room...

...but in terms of texture...

Yeah, like, I would sit on that rug

Okay, that's good

What else can we buy?

Oh, this table...

...doesn't that seem sort of like driftwoody to you?

It does seem driftwoody so let's add that baby to the cart

Okay, good

And one last thing, my dad

Okay

He has to tinker and be doing things all the time...

...and he's got nothing to build right now, and...

What you're telling me is I can use him

I don't think you can't not use him

All right, I can't wait to meet him

Four generations have lived in this house

It's just incredibly special to us so thank you

- I feel honored - Thank you

I want to do this for Emily...

...because she does so much and she asks for so little...

...and...

I always see people do this on shows and I don't understand why

My sister is just my hero

She really is

Today, Jenny is meeting my dad...

...in St. Louis at my sister Emily's house

- Hi - I'm Jenny

And the work is about to begin

I'm so excited to get to be here today

Same here

This is a very awkward door

It is awkward it's hard to open and close

So we're going to fix that

In order to do this project...

...we first have to clear these few rooms out

We have a ton of kids stuff

I think we can get rid of all this stuff

Get rid of it?

No

So I'm a mamma bear

I have little kids too...

...so let's not red tape it...

...let's just find a good storage solution for it

While we're here we need to talk about the furniture

It's too much for this little space

- So what are we going to do? - I think donating it is a good idea

This house was built in the '50s...

...and the scale of furniture was very small at that time...

...and now, everything we have is so oversized

All right, let's go over here and look at the bookcase

All right

So I like the piece of furniture...

...the scale is good for this wall

It doesn't really fit into the color scheme, so...

Well, if you like the basic piece and the color is the only problem...

...I can probably refinish this

Okay, so you could turn it into something different for me?

Tell me what color you want it can be wood grain...

...it can be a color to match your scheme, I can do this

All right, I like that

And then what about the kitchen?

The very small kitchen

So is there anything that we can keep?

We've got to keep this little guy

Okay, I like him

He's lived in that spot forever

He's probably covered with grease

Well, we have a lot to do

- All right, ready to get started? - All right, let's start

So they got everything cleaned out of the house

My dad and Jenny are meeting Randy, the contractor...

...and they're gonna start knocking down some walls

- Hey, Randy - Hey

Good to see you, this is Jim

- Hey, Jim - Hey, good morning

- Good to meet you - Nice to meet you

Jim is about to tear holes...

...in the walls of his father's house

We're getting started tearing all this out today...

...and I thought maybe...

...you would like to strike the first blow

You can't imagine how excited I am

I've always wanted to be that guy

I can only imagine what he's thinking...

...and how he must feel about taking a sledgehammer...

...to something that his dad built

Ready for this?

Yes

This is week four...

...we're halfway there...

...and things are going pretty well

Oh, wow, what a difference

Okay, so we've got cabinets going in...

...we've got some floor color going down...

...we've got a hearth going on that fireplace...

...we've got a mantle going on the fireplace

We've got windows going in...

...we've got appliances showing up

- Wow - We've got lights being hung

It's amazing

It just... it came to life since the last time I saw it

How is my bookcase coming along?

It's coming along just great

I'm making progress

I have a primer coat

I sanded it all down, and I just have to do the finish coat...

...and then it's done, and then we can move it back into the space

I think it's going to work great over there

Well, I'm not worried

I'm sure you've got it taken care of

Hey, Jim, I was just flipping through my ideabook...

...and I realised that we can use the Sketch on my phone

With Sketch, you can pick any of the photos on Houzz...

...or take one of your own...

...then you can draw directly on that photo...

...or add products from the Houzz Shop

It makes it very easy to communicate ideas with my clients

- Isn't that cool? - Pretty amazing

Yeah, that's super cool

Should we send that to Jenna?

It's so hard to visualize the stuff in an empty room

I think she'd love to see that

All right, let's send it to her

I can show it to Jim I can send it to Jenna...

...and they can really get excited about...

...how the space is going to come together...

...and what the furniture pieces are going to look like in here

It's so fun

- Phone call - Okay

It's Jenna

Hello

Hey, Jenna did you like the picture I sent?

I'm opening it right now

Am I allowed to open it now?

Yeah, you can open it and look

So that is the sofa from Houzz in this space

I can't even believe that that is the house like...

So that wall that this sofa is on...

...is actually going to have wallpaper and then we put a new deeper mantel

- Wow - It's gorgeous

That's great, that's great

She's always been bummed that she can't decorate her mantel more...

...over the holidays and stuff

I am so excited

I got the Design Dilemma update from the Houzz community...

...and I can't wait to tell Jenna

Do you remember we asked the Houzz community...

...about where to locate the TV?

Yes, what did they say?

The people of Houzz have decided...

...that we do not need to put the TV over the fireplace...

...and we get to locate the TV in the bookcase over here

Thank you, Houzz people

And this...

I know, isn't it crazy?

Look at all the light that comes from that door...

...and from the kitchen into the whole room

I love it, I think she's gonna love it

Thank you

All right, well, have a good rest of your afternoon

Talk to you later

- Bye - Bye

I'm finally back in St. Louis

I'm about to go over to my sister's house...

...and start putting the final touches on this renovation

Oh, my gosh, it's gorgeous

You like it?

The color is perfect

Yes, yes

Hi

Hey

Oh, my gosh

This wall is gone

This is amazing

It feels like it has that relaxing ocean luxurious feel...

...in like a homey home for kids

I can't get over how real this is

This is like a for real secret makeover...

...that she has no idea

Okay, what do we have to do?

Let's start hanging stuff on the walls

Okay, you can get the other side

Oh, I love it

This is the fun part

I love this part

Okay, bring it in

You just told my dad, "Bring it in"

I've got really good at bossing your dad around

Can you teach me how to do that?

Now bring me the coffee table...

Please

That's better

I have these great pillows that adds lots of color to the room

- Oh, these are gorgeous - Right

- Ready? - Ready

Room's done

Okay, you guys go hide downstairs

- So exciting - Good luck

All right, today is the day...

...I finally get to show my sister the finished space

I hope she's happy and I hope she loves it

I have absolutely no idea what's being done to my house

I'm in a state of disbelief

I'm anxious, I'm nervous I'm excited

I'm every possible emotion I think...

...that I could be feeling all rolled into one

Oh, my gosh

Are you alright?

I think

Okay, come with me

Okay

- So I have to close my eyes? - I'm going to start crying already

No, you can open your eyes

Okay

I love the door

Wow

All right, are you ready to go in?

- Yeah - Close your eyes

All right, ready? Here we go

Don't open them. Okay, step up

Keep them closed still

- It smells new - Does it?

Okay, now keep walking

Like it's, it doesn't have...

...that grandma and grandpa's house's smell

Oh, well, that's good because this is your house now

Okay, open your eyes

Oh, my God

Doesn't even look like my house

Oh, my God I love it

Can you believe it's your house?

Thank you so much

Oh, my God I don't believe it

This is your house, Emily

Look how they hung up the kids' artwork

Yeah, I love that photo of me and Eddie

It feels so homey

I like the openness of it

I think it's just gonna make life so much easier

You guys love being a family so we put that in here

The bookshelf behind you this is your bookshelf, Emily

- Is it really? - Dad refinished it and painted this

The fireplace, we painted the brick

You have a deeper mantel now

And your television cabinet

I have lights in my ceiling

You have lights in your ceiling

- Isn't it just so much brighter - It is

I mean like we had the two mismatched floor lamps

Yeah

Look at your kitchen

Oh, my God

This is my house?

Yeah, this is your house now

Did you ever think you'd have a kitchen island?

No

I think the biggest difference...

...is just how these walls are down...

...and how when you're standing in the kitchen...

...you're going to be able to see the kids wherever they are now

Wow

- Your magic chef - That was grandpa

Parts of them are still in the house

It felt so good that she loved it

It seemed like everywhere she looked...

...she was getting more excited or more moved

I love the light, I love the green

- Pop of color - I love it

- I love this new table - And it fits

One of the reasons it fits in the room...

...is you had like the double hutch and buffet...

...now you just have this one big cabinet from Houzz

And let me show you one of my favourite things for you, storage

I love that

All of these...

Look in here

There's a charging station art supplies

Oh, my gosh

And then these too, games, toys, all over here

Oh, my gosh

Oh, it's gorgeous

It's just the perfect space for a family with young children...

...and it's very practical

Well, I didn't do this by myself

In fact, the people who did most of the work are here

Here's Dad who provided all the free labor

Thank you, Dad

- And Jenny... - You're welcome, you're welcome

- How do you like it? - ...the brains behind the operation

Hi

Jenny and my sister did a fantastic job

All right, so Dwight and the kids are going to be here any minute...

...so let's for them but let's relax

- Okay, let's sit here, behind - Okay

All right, you want to sit on your couch?

I do

I think the big hit was the couch

Do I have to let my kids in this space?

But the whole space is a home run

Oh, they're here

They're here

Hi, guys

Why do we have a new door?

Oh, my God

What do you think, guys?

Wow, wow

- Holy moly - A pretty new house

What's that?

I absolutely love it

Oh, my gosh

This house looks awesome

It looks absolutely nothing like the home that I left two months ago

Oh, I love the table

I mean, check out the table

So this is all ours?

Yeah

You've got to be kidding me

Without Jenna this wouldn't have happened

This is the biggest gift I've ever had in my life

It's absolutely awesome...

...and I couldn't have asked for a better sister-in-law

This is pretty crazy

I can't believe this is happening

- Mamma - Yeah

I'm just going to probably fall asleep on this

The cool thing about the couch is that this is a sofa-sleeper

This is sweet

- A book "E" - It's a book "E"

That's right

I can truly say that Jenna...

...is probably one of the most important people in my life

This is just beautiful

If I needed advice about something I go to my sister

We just have that kind of relationship...

...where I know that she will be there for me any time I need her

Are you responsible for all this?

I am, yes

And I bring party favors

- Oh, sweet - Hi

- Nanny - Jenna

Doesn't that look so good?

Oh, it does

- This is beautiful - Oh, my gosh

I know

Doesn't it look so good?

Oh, man

Look what we did we did what we said

Everyone's in the kitchen

- I know, right? - Except now everybody fits

Okay, so I just want to make a little toast

It's been a two-month renovation

You guys have all been living together...

...and you've been putting in a ton of time...

...and you've been putting in a lot of labor...

...but I just want to say thank you

It looks awesome, Jenny and cheers to your new home

Congratulations

- Cheers - Cheers

The future is going to be much easier for Emily now

I love thinking about her family doing movie night...

...cuddled up on the couch with a fire in their new fireplace

One, two, three, oh

This renovation would not have been possible...

...without the technology of Houzz

Thank you for helping me find a great designer, a great contractor...

...and all kinds of amazing products

So how are you going to like, watch Cardinals games from the kitchen?

- Oh, that's going to be awesome - Yeah

They're doing okay, right?

I think we need to pick up another bat

So it still hasn't sunk in that this is my house

Well, since we stole your football team…

...we'll go ahead and give you that batter

Oh, she went there, huh?

Oh, man

Four generations of Fischers have lived in this house...

...and now, it's ready for more to come

Why Permanent Fillers are Not Advised for Young People, and Help from Long Lasting Fillers - Duration: 9:30.

Thank you for

your question.

You're 29-years-old and you're asking is facelift a solution for you because of

resultant jowling that occurred after having a permanent filler called Aquamid placed in

your cheeks which appeared to have descended.

You also stated that you have some marks where the Aquamid was injected.

So certainly I can give you my perspectives on this type of issue when it comes to permanent

fillers and how to handle a situation like yours.

A little bit of background, I'm a Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial

plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

I have been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years.

And certainly the challenges of so-called permanent fillers is something that I have

dealt with some degree, with significant amount of experience at different levels depending

on the severity of the symptoms of a person who had this type of problem.

So to begin with, this material of Aquamid is described as a polyacrylamide hydrogel

which basically is a soft tissue filler which appears to have certainly some advantages

compared to other so-called permanent fillers but I have also felt that soft tissue permanent

fillers don't really have a role in what we do because the face and the soft tissue

changes over time.

And I had situations where a person who got this done like yourself at a relatively young

age had exactly the same type of problem that you did and this is for example a man in his

late 20s who got a silicone type of injection done in another country and ended up going

down to his jawline or migrating and eventually descending and I think the physical weight

was the problem.

I actually had to open up a flap of skin like a facelift to remove this material.

This material became very rubbery and very hard and it's almost impossible to take

out everything.

So it's one thing to consider, maybe not now, but maybe in the future is excision of

this material.

You know, as you get a little bit older, the facial volume will change and you may just

want to observe how things change with time.

So far, if it doesn't appear that you had any inflammatory reaction or infection then

you can consider a different option.

I would discourage you from a facelift.

A facelift would technically lift the skin but at 29 and even in your early 30s, I think

it's still a little premature and you may not have enough skin to work with or to get

enough impact on the lifting.

Really, this is about volume distribution more about than it is about sagging and soft

tissue stretching.

So I think that one way to consider in camouflaging your situation is a procedure like structural

volumizing which we do in our practice.

And to understand that, basically what we're doing is we're placing volume of a filler

that can be reversed such as in the hyaluronic acid family such as Juvederm Ultra Plus or

Juvederm Voluma and I would consider placing it along the cheekbones.

By placing it along the cheekbones, it creates of a natural kind of a golden ratio balance

of your face so that you actually look better than if the face is more squared off than

it is than to look like more of a jowl.

Now it is of course camouflaging but it might be a good patch for the time being as you

try to determine what to do as time goes on.

If this material continues to descend and it causes other issues then maybe a surgical

procedure is worth considering.

But if you had this material in your skin for, let's say, longer than a year then

the options ultimately end up becoming surgical.

And again, from my experience and I've done this for patients who come here from around

the world who actually had material that the body formed a reaction to and it's not the

Aquamid, a different material, and it created these large nodules.

And in trying to remove this material that was placed all over the face, this patient

for example that I'm thinking about, I had to do multiple surgeries in order to get that

material out in the maximum way to give this person a more natural appearance.

It's very difficult technically and difficult for the patient to go through.

So I would discourage you from moving forward to the future in not doing any more permanent

fillers.

In our practice, we basically use, for the benefit of filling, something that's reversible.

So the hyaluronic acid family whether it's in the Restylane family or the Juvederm family,

has a wide variety of different levels of thickness for the purpose of this explanation,

so that you can solve a lot of issues without having to resort to something permanent.

People always want something permanent naturally but really, our bodies are not permanent.

Our faces change and things continue to evolve and shift.

So I suggest considering doing a filler placement with a hyaluronic acid filler at the cheekbone

level to give yourself a little bit of balance.

I would discourage you from any other procedures whether it's a laser or energy based devices.

I'm not sure if they're going to make that much of an impact for you.

The goal is to try to give you some balance and minimize the amount of trouble you put

yourself through or get further into.

So find a doctor who you'll be comfortable with doing this type of technique.

Again, structural volumizing is placing the material at the bone level so that when you

place it on the bone, the bone actually has additional volume but it doesn't sag the

way this material did.

Most of the time, fillers are placed at the soft tissue compartment which is right under

the skin.

And beyond a certain level, they tend to flatten out or round out and they end up looking soft.

The face looks pillowy which is something a lot of people are familiar with.

But rather, with structural volumizing, by placing it at the bone level, we actually

create structure and create this nice natural angularity.

So I think that's a technique that would be relevant and potentially worth pursuing.

And the nice thing is, if you don't like it, it goes away by itself.

It breaks down usually about a year.

And if you don't like it and you really want to get rid of it, we can use an enzyme

like hyaluronidase to dissolve it.

So I hope that was helpful, I wish you the best of luck and thank you for your question.

What's The Process For Planning An On Location Photoshoot? - Duration: 6:16.

Hey everyone it's Laura Pearman and this

is another Laura Pearman Vlog. I have

another great question this week, it's

from Belinda White and Belinda runs

Arttia Creative. She is an SEO

specialist. Belinda asks:

So Belinda, this

is kind of a question all around

planning in my opinion, so basically I

love to live by the motto that if you

fail to plan, you plan to fail. So I love

a really good robust plan. I am the queen

of lists and I actually like to keep

lists about lists.

Yeah I'm a bit OCD really. Belinda,

what I love to do whenever I'm shooting

on location, which is kind of in the main

these days, a lot more people love to do

pictures that are location-based. They

like that to reinforce their brand, to

show where they're based or they like

to show people that they work all over

the place which is a lot more common

these days. We are all working in a

co-working situation, or we work from

our laptops which means that we can work

all over the world. So when people come

to me and they want to demonstrate that

through their headshots, that usually

means that we're going to be out taking

pictures in all manner of crazy cool

places. Now in terms of planning a

photoshoot to do that I usually

try and make sure that my clients are

aware that we're going to need a little

bit of time to get a plan together. I

like to try and work with about three

weeks lead time now in those three weeks,

usually my client is aware that

we're getting inspiration they might be

meeting fellow suppliers like makeup

artists, hair people, sometimes special

effects people, it all depends what the

client needs. But while that's happening

me and my photography team are away doing

location scouting we're starting out

venues sometimes

we're looking at light at different

times in the day, we're testing photography

and we're looking at different textures

Im a total geek at looking at textures on

different walls that kind of thing.

Walking around planning roots in new

cities. Looking at travel times and then

finally in the run-up to a photo shoot I

want to know what time the Sun rises

what time the sun's gonna set and then

finally here in a beautiful Britain it

is all about the weather. So I have about

five different weather apps on my phone

and weirdly enough, sometimes those

weather apps show me different weather

reports on the same day so sometimes

it's a law of averages and I usually

will make a rainy day plan and then a

dry day plan in most eventualities. If

the client has no wiggle room on what

day it is that we shoot. So that is me

planning for all eventualities to make

sure that the day that we have set as

the shoot day is going to result in some

great photography. If the client is

hell-bent on us getting a particular

skyline or a particular landscape in a

certain way, you know weather dependent

then we have to adapt according to the

weather and that will involve quite a

lot of meteorology but that is the

nature of being a photographer and

that's actually quite fun a lot of the

time so there is an awful lot of

planning that goes into it. That's

kind of what happens in a bit of a

nutshell but we've had lots of different

and case-by-case and situations go on

where clients need to be on helipads,

so if that was the case then I would go

and meet those people and then find out

what kind of timings are involved if and

emergencies happen we need to be aware.

Do we need to add two or three days on

to that shoot, can we get a

helicopter?

What insurance goes into that?

Do we need to pay for a pilot for

the whole day, is the client cool with

that?

and on and on all those kinds of things

go. So very much you need to have

project management skills to make sure

that an on-location shoot

can can actually happen so let's go

with the helicopter thing if

they wanted you know cool like gangster

smoke to be around that helicopter I

want to make sure that my special

effects guys speak to the helicopter guys

to know that the smoke can be cleared in

an emergency situation you know if

that needed to be happening, if we can do

that can we test run it? Then we go

through and test run it. All the while

the client doesn't need to know about all

the all of these nitty-gritty details,

but we know that we can assure the

client that everything is taken care of

and they don't need to worry about it. So

this is all of the behind-the-scenes

planning that happens. So basically I think

that that has kind of encapsulated

the whole organization of a location

shoot.

Oh finally food! Yeah I always make sure

that we have lots of different options

for food that is hugely important to me

and always to my crew when were on a

session. So Coffee, Donuts usually or Cake

of some description and then Lunch and

then a Wrap Dinner of some kind. We

always plan in for that we're doing

location sections and if we're in the

winter

we always try and make sure that we have

some kind of hot chocolate or warm food

to keep us warm and toasty

so I think thats everything that I can

kind of wrap into this if anybody has

any questions around this subject

because it's quite a big one to start

digging into, then please ask them in the

comments section below and I'll be happy

to answer them.

Ok take care for now and I'll see you

next time. Bye!

Priming Drill for Runners Hip Stability - Standing Hip Flx OH Reach + March - Duration: 3:16.

Welcome back to Foundation's YouTube channel.

Today we are going to show you a little drill that puts a lot of things that we've talked

about together.

Um on the channel we talked about improving hip mobility and hip flexion.

We've talked about improving glute function to improve hip stability.

We've done several things for runners to allow you to kind of put these into your gait

cycle as you run.

So this is another drill that you can do off the bumper of your car before you go for a

run if you're out.

Um you can do it in a gym and all you really need is a small band that you can just throw

in your bag or leave in the backseat of your car.

So, um we're doing a lot and I'll go through what we're working on as you do the movements.

But for starters you're going to stand on a band.

It doesn't have to be a very strong band.

This one isn't and you're going to bring your foot up onto a high surface right.

Should be a little higher than your knee if you can get it.

If not at least at that level would be good.

Ok so what you're going to do is you're going to stand on the band stabilized there.

You're going to start by putting your hands in front of your shoulders ok this is your

start position.

Now what you're going to do from here is punch overhead without arching your back ok

and step one or that's step one step two is just lift this right leg up off of the

surface.

It doesn't have to be very high.

If you try and lift real high you find yourself leaning back that's probably too high of

a surface.

So I punch and then I lift up this way ok now if I that's too challenging what I can

do is without the band just plug my fingers into the sky and then march that makes it

easier.

The absolute hardest thing to do for this hip in this activity to make it more stable

to make it act more like a stable base is to get on a surface like this.

Ok you're going to punch overhead and then what you're going to do is you're going

to lift that leg and rotate away and then back.

Alright you can also punch up and rotate without lifting the leg.

Try both ways and you'll notice the rotation without the lift is a great stretch.

The rotation with the lift is a great activity to prime the glutes.

So you can kind of do it both ways.

So this isn't the best video to just focus on one thing it is a great activity to really

prime a lot of things at once in short bit of time.

So if you find that you're not doing enough in the way of dynamic warm up try this out

and it really may make a big difference in the way you feel and the way you perform.

Um so we hope its helpful.

Again we remind you that movement is a gift and we hope you enjoy it and um I remind you

that if this is helpful to you or others um please share it and don't keep it a secret.

The Byron Saunders Foundation - 2017 - Duration: 3:51.

For most Americans

Thanksgiving is a time to gather with friends and family

enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal

and be thankful for what they have.

However for thousands of central Ohioans

Thanksgiving can be a bittersweet reminder of what they don't have.

For the past 20 years Brian Wollenberg has headed an annual year-long food drive.

Anybody who wants to do a food drive can do one,

it doesn't matter if you're a CPA's office with two

or a business that has 2,000 people we can accommodate you,

it's just a matter of giving someone the chance to give back.

Brian is the founder of the Byron Saunders Foundation,

a nonprofit organization created with the mission of providing

Thanksgiving meals for families in central Ohio and surrounding counties.

We try to pull names and addresses and people from those areas who are in a need.

Doesn't mean they're needy.

They count on the generosity of the community to help make this possible.

During the holiday months the need for assistance to families increases

and sometimes, unexpectedly.

We think of Columbus and the surrounding suburbs as a pretty affluent area,

really, compared to many other cities.

And the fact is even in our own backyard

there are kids who don't get lunch

or who don't get Christmas

and who definitely don't get Thanksgiving any other way.

Last year the goal for the Byron Saunders foundation was simple,

provide meals to 2,000 families.

Volunteers work all year long collecting food and money.

People that want to contribute to the organization we accept checks,

you can do food drives,

just because Thanksgiving is in November

doesn't mean we only want people to give around Thanksgiving,

we can take donations now.

Others donate their time to sorting, cataloging, and assembling meal boxes.

If you're not available to donate your time to help sort and count, which is a big need,

sponsor a food drive or drop some food off,

it doesn't take a lot to pick up extra food or canned goods while you're shopping.

We have volunteers now that come back year, after year, after year.

I just signed up to pack boxes one night

and when we finished I told my step dad, because he came with me,

I was like I have to do that again that was so much fun.

Last year through community support, volunteer time, food and monetary donations,

the Byron Saunders Foundation was able to feed over 3,000 families a Thanksgiving meal,

far beyond their original goal of 2,000 families.

To see the impact is huge, like you can say over 3,000 families

but to see how much food that really is

is a whole different story.

Families, they get this box and inside that box is not only food

but some hope.

It just helps people know that someone out there cares.

This year the Byron Saunders Foundation's goal is even higher

and they need your help.

You can sponsor a food drive through your workplace

or your child's school,

you can go door-to-door in your neighborhood collecting food and monetary donations.

You can volunteer your time to help sort and pack boxes of food,

but whatever you do the effort starts now.

Thanksgiving may only come once a year

but the Byron Saunders Foundation needs your help all year long.

Oh, this is our friend Julia.

Oh. Hi, Julia.

I'm Big Bird. Nice to meet you.

Oh. Julia?

Julia's just concentrating on her painting right now.

You guys, you're all doing a great job.

And that's why a paintbrush works for you.

And I taught her some dances.

Nothing is better than having a friend.

Because nothing beats friendship.

And playing pretend.

Friends can be furry, friends can love food,

friends can be funny and brighten your mood.

Friends make things better.

They know just how you feel.

And the best kind of friend knows all feelings are real.

And even though friends may sometimes get in a fight,

a hug or "I'm sorry" can make most things right.

So, go make a friend and have lots of fun.

And another great thing is you can have more than one.

The end.

Friends.

The letter "F."

HBO invites you behind the scenes

to meet a new friend on Sesame Street.

(GIGGLES) Oh, hi!

Oh, this is Elmo's friend, Julia.

CHRISTINE FERRARO: Julia is a little girl.

She's got autism.

She likes people to know that she's autistic.

Like many kids with autism,

she's got her own way of doing things.

She may not do what you expect.

She does things just a little differently.

-In a... Julia sort of way. -(CHUCKLES)

Julia has become a representative

of a very large initiative that we have that's called

"See Amazing in All Children."

As we saw the numbers of children diagnosed with autism,

we knew that was a place where Sesame Street

could make a difference.

I kinda said, "Why don't we put her in the show?"

-Well, who's this? -Oh, this is our friend, Julia!

Louis Mitchell designed and drew Julia.

I had done some volunteer work at a school with children

on the autism spectrum, and there was this young girl

that I bonded with so much so

it gave me everything I needed for Julia.

I just start to sketch and do a little thinking about

not so much what the little girl looked like

but what she felt like, how she made me feel.

BROWN JOHNSON: The audition process was really interesting

because we specifically asked the women who were trying out

to have had an experience with a person on the spectrum.

FERRARO: Stacey Gordon, our puppeteer,

has a son of her own who is on the spectrum.

STACEY GORDON: When we first saw Julia, my husband was like,

"Honey, she kinda looks like you."

And I looked to him and I was like,

"I'm basically Julia." (LAUGHS)

(LAUGHS)

GORDON: Being allowed to represent an entire community

and the importance of that... It's an honor.

We like to believe that even if someone is different from you,

you can still be friends.

-We can all be friends! -Yeah!

FERRARO: We've introduced Julia as a character with autism

but she's not just "Julia the kid with autism."

She's Julia!

LOUIS MITCHELL: This is another person who's part of the neighborhood.

Everyone's welcome.

JOHNSON: Being able to see yourself in the stories

that you love is incredibly important.

My son gets to see someone like him on Sesame Street.

And his friends get to see someone like him

on Sesame Street, and get to see

that they all are doing the exact same things,

just... he and Julia and other kids like them

might do those things a little bit differently.

CANDIDATES. AND THERE ARE YOUNG PEOPLE ALL

OVER THE COUNTRY THAT ARE RUNNING.

MANY OF THEM YOU'RE HAVING AT THE CONVENTION, SO TO THE SHOW

THAT MANY IN THE CIVIL RIGHTS COMMUNITY HAVE STARTED

ORGANIZING, AND ACTUALLY, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ENGAGED IN THE

SYSTEM. >> YES.

I MEAN, YOU LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT PEOPLE EVEN WITHIN OUR

ORGANIZATION LIKE CARLOS CHAVERTZ.

ARENA KARANIAN, RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL AT 20 YEARS OLD IN

FLORIDA. YOUNG PEOPLE WANT TO BE INVOLVED

IN POLITICS. THEY WANT TO SEE A CHANGE WITHIN

THEIR COMMUNITY, BUT I THINK THE POLITICAL CLIMATE THAT WE'RE

SEEING CURRENTLY IN OUR COUNTRY HAS REALLY PUSHED THEM TO DO

JUST THAT. AND I BELIEVE THAT YOUNG PEOPLE

JUST NEED MORE SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO SAY

THAT YOU CAN DO THIS. I'M HAPPY TO SAY THAT'S WORKING

IN MY COMMUNITY. I'VE MADE THE RUNOFF FOR CITY

COUNCIL, BUT NOW IT'S MORE THAN JUST THAT, ENSURING THAT MORE

YOUNG PEOPLE GET INVOLVED. BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A CHOICE.

WE CAN'T AFFORD THEM NOT TO. >> THAT'S WHAT EXCITES ME ABOUT

YOU AND OTHERS RUNNING. NOT BECAUSE YOU COME WITH OUR

NETWORK, BUT IT'S COUNTERCULTURE OVER AN LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE

WE'RE MEETING FROM OTHER GROUPS THAT IS COUNTER TO WHAT IS BEING

SAID, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE JUST ANGRY JUST ANGRY AND DROPPING O

BUT THEY'RE REALLY -- YOU'RE STILL A TEENAGER.

THEY'RE REALLY SAYING, NO, WE CAN LEAD.

WE CAN GOVERN. NOW YOU STARTED AT 11 YEARS OLD

FIGHTING GUN VIOLENCE, AND YOU'VE GONE ALL THE WAY TO BEING

PRAISED BY PRESIDENT OBAMA. YOU BUILT OUR YOUTH DEPARTMENT.

I MEAN, THERE'S NO COMPARISON BETWEEN ANYONE THAT LED OUR

YOUTH DEPARTMENTRTMENT BEFORE YE ON.

YOU'VE ACTUALLY ORGANIZED REAL YOUNG PEOPLE IN SCORES OF

CITIES, SO YOU'VE PROVEN LEADERSHIP ABILITY.

HOW DO YOU SELL TO PEOPLE OLDER, VOTE FOR ME, I CAN GOVERN, I

KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. HOW DO YOU SELL THAT AT A YOUNG

AGE? >> THE TRUTH IS, REVEREND

SHARPTON, YOU CANNOT REALLY CONTINUE TO ASSOCIATE AGE WITH

EXPERIENCE. I'VE BEEN VERY OPEN WITH THE

VOTERS IN MY COMMUNITY AND INFORMING THEM THAT I AM THE

ONLY PERSON IN MY RACE THAT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT AT THE

TABLE WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA AND DISCUSS CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM.

I'M THE ONLY PERSON IN MY RACE THAT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK

WITH CITIES UNITED AND NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES WHICH IS

COMPRISED OF MAYORS ALL ACROSS THE CITY THAT WORKED TOWARDS

CREATING PROGRAMS FOR BLACK MALE ACHIEVEMENT AND COMMUNITIES OF

COLOR. WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUNG PEOPLE

IT'S IMPORTANT NOT TO ASSOCIATE AGE WITH EXPERIENCE.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I'M ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE ALL

ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO REALLY DO. ONCE YOU LOOK BACK THROUGH

HISTORY, IT'S THE YOUNG PEOPLE AND THE SEASONED LEADERS THAT

WORK TOGETHER TO IMPACT CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN PUSHING THE VOTERS TO UNDERSTAND.

>> WE'RE GOING TO BE WATCHING. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING

US. SHE'LL JOIN US HERE IN NEW YORK
