Consonants followed by a soft sign are softened and they are pronounced with

the middle of the tongue raised towards the roof of the mouth. Well, the majority of

The second function of the soft sign is separation. If there is a

soft sign between a consonant and one of the following vowels: е, ё, я, ю

or и, it means that the consonant is soft and that the sound й appears between
