EastEnders spoilers: Predictions for 2018 following a VERY explosive year
With old favourites returning and as the shock events of 2017 continue to unfold, Walford will see more drama than ever before.
So, what could the new year have in store? 1 Kat Moon to buy the Queen Vic Fans will remember before Kat Moon (played by Jessie Wallace) and husband Alfie (Shane Richie) left the Square to embark on new adventures in spin-off series Redwater, they won the lottery.
With Kat's returned confirmed, many fans are hopeful she will be the one to swoop in and save the Queen Vic with her winnings after it was cruelly taken from the Carter family by Weyland and Co.
2 A full Slater reunion A mini Slater reunion is certain as Kat, Jean (Gillian Wright), and Big Mo (Laila Morse) are all set to return to Walford in the new year.
However, could their reconvening bring back the whole clan, including Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth), Lynne (Elaine Lordan), Belinda (Carli Norris) and Zoe (Michelle Ryan)? The feisty family were hugely popular during their time on the show, so it wouldn't be surprising if show bosses brought the fan favourites back.
3 Jane Beale to return Following the hugely explosive scenes on Christmas Day that saw Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner) reveal Max's treatment of Jane Beale (Laurie Brett), it only seems right Jane will reappear.
With Max's plan exposed, Jane has no need to hide anymore. Will she come back to the Square, and back to Ian (Adam Woodyatt)?.
4 Tanya Branning will stay Christmas Day saw Tanya make a triumphant return to confront ex-husband Max that was well-received by fans.
However, the doomed occasion saw both her daughters falling off the roof of the Queen Vic and ending up in intensive care. With Abi brain dead but her baby still alive, Tanya could stick around to take care of her grandchild.
5 Johnny Carter and Ben Mitchell to elope Johnny Carter (Ted Reilly) and Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid) will definitely be leaving the show next year, but their exit storylines have not yet been revealed.
The two have previously shared a night of passion and after a difficult year for them both, perhaps an elopement could finally bring them their happy ending.
6 Bianca Butcher's back Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) will be returning soon and she's set to cause some trouble for sister Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), who finds a pregnancy test that looks as though it belongs to her 14-year-old sister.
If Whitney is right, there's no doubt fiery Bianca (Patsy Palmer) will be back to her old haunt to give her daughter a good scolding.
7 Steve Owen resurrected Tamzin Outhwaite will be reprising her role as Melanie Owen, and the actress has suggested her ex-husband (Martin Kemp) could have survived the car explosion that supposedly killed him 15 years ago.
"I do think he could have got out in that three seconds and rolled underneath the car," she told The Sun, "I'd love my ex-husband to return but he's dead." Or is he?.
8 Hunter Owen and Louise Mitchell romance Mel will be coming back with her son, Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter), and the teenage boy is bound to be a new heartthrob for the girls of Albert Square.
Luckily, he just so happens to be around the same age as Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) and considering their mothers are best friends, it could be a perfect match.
9 Another return for Lisa Fowler Lisa (Lucy Benjamin) made a shocking reappearance earlier this year when daughter Louise was badly injured. However, Lisa wasn't well herself and had to be sectioned when her behaviour spiralled out of control.
However, since her old best friend Mel is back on the scene and she's been receiving help for her problems, this could spell a return for Lisa.
10 Phil Mitchell cheats on Sharon Mel's return is sure to make waves across the Square considering her history with some of the residents - back in the early 00s she had romances with Phil (Steve McFadden) and Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), as well as a very short-lived marriage to Ian.
The fall-out from Mel and Phil's one night stand on Christmas Day 2000 lasted for months and the two had undeniable chemistry.
With Phil back to his old criminal ways with Aidan Maguire (Patrick Bergin), will he be adopting other old habits and cheat on Sharon (Letitia Dean), with Mel? EastEnders continues New Year's Day at 8pm on BBC One.
