Waching daily Apr 27 2017

This is Dr. Lam, founder of drlam.com and the Adrenal Fatigue Center.

A lot of people ask me while they're on thyroid medication is why the dosage need

to be adjusted after a little while.

In another words, many people do experience the necessity to especially increase their

thyroid medication for their hypothyroidism after they've been starting on the medication

for some time.

This can be three months, can be six months, can be a year, but over time they find that

they need the ever-larger dose of thyroid medication in order to achieve the similar

effect that they had when they first started.

This is a very interesting question and it brings up the real underlying problem is that

what is really going on in the thyroid gland?

Now let's take a look at physiology here.

If you have a primary hypothyroidism, something's wrong with the thyroid gland, it's not making

thyroid medication, then you give the body thyroid medication, you will feel brand new

and you will feel significantly better.

This is indeed the case for many reasons, whether you have primary or even secondary

hypothyroidism, the fact that you put more thyroid medications into the body means that

the body get increased metabolism and that leads to increase in energy, reduce in fatigue,

reduce in constipation.

And it's a sense of well-being because it's almost like you're stepping on the gasoline

pedal of the car, and the car is running a little faster.

So you're able to do more things during the day and less problematic.

Now as this goes on, most patients who are on thyroid after initial adjustment will be

quite satisfied.

But they will find as time goes on their fatigue tend to return, the constipation tend to get

worse.

And they go see the doctor, laboratory tests are usually taken, and it could be normal

but they are feeling not as good.

So the doctor will invariably raise the thyroid medication a little bit.

And then a few months later another little bit.

Of course if the thyroid test is showing that it continue to be low then the doctor has

more reasons to increase the dosage faster and stronger, and even including adding other

types of hormones, including testosterone and other types of growth hormone, et cetera.

But just on the thyroid alone, if the thyroid testing does not show any significant change

but you still complain of being fatigued, then increasing thyroid dosage for you is

quite common.

The question is, why would that happen?

And we have many reasons why to consider.

First, there could be a resistance issue, meaning that the body is either getting used

to it or it resists for the thyroid to actually get into the cell.

There's also a problem of conversion, for example, when thyroid medications need to

be converted into different parts in order to work in the cells, and if there is a defect

in this conversion then the body will not be able to get the thyroid that it needs.

Number three, there could be also binding issues in the sense that thyroid medication

could be bounded to certain proteins such as thyroid-binding globulins and then when

it is binded it is not available to the cells.

On top of that the body could be getting used to it.

There could be receptor site issues, or simply adopt the body deteriorate with time.

And so there are many, many factors that could cause this type of issue.

The question is, how do you know which one is which?

The laboratory test is usually not very good, is not sensitive enough to really be able

to tell us in great detail which part of the mechanism may not be working well.

So it really all comes down to detailed history, checking with your doctor on an ongoing basis,

and asking the right questions.

It is obvious that if you have to keep upping the dose eventually some people will get into

trouble.

Symptoms such as wired and tired are quite frequent, and that is an indication that thyroid

medication may have reached a maximum, and you have to question whether this is even

the right thing to do at that point in time.

There are many, many possibilities, and we cannot cover them all here.

But the important thing to understand is that if it is not converting, or your body needs

more, there is a reason.

The reasons are many including one which is often overlooked, which is adrenal fatigue.

And so, see your doctor.

Make sure you discuss these issues.

And if there are no answers for you then look outside the box and look into talking to a

adrenal fatigue literate doctor for more explanation, and to explore.

The body reacts logically.

If it is not working well there is a reason.

So I encourage you to pursue that as the way to understand the root problem.

And the only by solving the root problem will you get to recover from your illness

on

a long-term basis.

The Los Angeles Dance Company That's Breaking All Norms - Duration: 3:16.

Dance...is a universal language.

When people dance, you understand who they are.

I'm Alexandra Blackbird, and I am a dancer, choreographer, business owner, mom...

...right here in Los Angeles.

My dance studio in Hollywood is called Blackbird Dance Company.

Being a bird, to me, is about freedom.

and it's definitely a part of the studio as far as it feeling like

a sacred space when you walk in, it just definitely has the energy.

My mission in life is to express myself through dance,

and help other people learn how to do that too.

I was really shy as a kid, so dance was something that I could do that I didn't have to talk.

By the time I was seven I started taking formal classes in jazz and ballet.

The pressure of being a ballerina is really high,

and back then it was the late 80's, early 90's,

the ideas of what a dancer looked like was stick thin, rail thin, very very skinny.

If you're not that, you're not gonna make it.

So at nineteen I got this tattoo, saying I'm never gonna be in a ballet company

because they're never gonna take me if I have a tattoo.

I decided I was gonna start my own dance company, and I was gonna hire people

not for what they looked like, but for how they danced.

Los Angeles is a beast.

I knew I was gonna have a studio when I got here. People laughed at me about that.

But I just kept, you know, doing my own thing instead of trying to conform to what everybody else was doing.

And people were like "Oh, this Blackbird, that's interesting".

Even though Blackbird Dance has been in LA for eleven years,

I feel like it's still a baby, and we have a long way to go.

Even myself, as an artist.

Maybe that's the Capricorn in me, but I'm always climbing to the next thing. I always have bigger ideas, bigger dreams.

Now, I feel like I'm finally becoming who I'm supposed to be.

Kidney failure treatment in Ayurveda | Alternative treatment | Real testimonial - Duration: 4:31.

Greetings, sir!

Greetings!

Sir, I heartily welcome you both to Planet Ayurveda Center.

Firstly, I would like to know your names.

My name is Shakti Swaroop Bharti and I'm Narayan Singh Negi.

Sir, where have you come from?

We've come from Tehsil Narni, District Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.

Sir, who is getting treated at Planet Ayurveda Center?

My wife! Mrs. Snehlata.

What were the problems she had which made you contact Dr. Vikram Chauhan?

She had Kidneys disorder.

Where did you take her to get this kidney disorder cured?

In the beginning we took her to IGMC Shimla then she was referred to Delhi, Ram Memorial hospital.

There she underwent dialysis ten times.

Then we got to know about Planet Ayurveda from someone from our village who were taking treatment from here.

We directly came to Planet Ayurveda and took treatment for 1 month and it has benefitted us a lot.

Earlier the creatinine level was 10.4 and within 1 month it has come down to 3.7.

Sir, can you show us the old reports?

Here are our old reports.

These are the reports before starting treatment from Planet Ayurveda.

This is from February 24th, 2017.

Here the Blood Urea is 132, Serum Creatinine is 10.4 and Uric Acid is 8.8.

All three levels are increased.

Show us the reports after treatment.

Here the blood urea has dropped down to 114, Serum creatinine is 3.9 and Uric acid is 7.0.

This is a very good progress.

Sir, what type of medicines did Dr. Vikram prescribe for your wife?

Here's the prescription.

Thank you, sir! Please tell us did Dr. Vikram Chauhan ask your wife to make certain dietary changes?

Yes, he asked her not to take sweet and sour, high protein foods.

She's not undergoing dialysis now?

No, sir. She's perfectly fine now.

Ok! Sir, there are a lot of patients watching this video. What message would you like to give them?

We just want to say that treatment very well.

We didn't have high expectations because doctors from Delhi and Shimla said that she would have to undergo dialysis twice a week.

Today, it's been a month and a half and she hasn't undergone any dialysis.

Thank you sir. You both came to Planet Ayurveda and gave such valuable information to our patients.

#LiveOn Project - Alice - Duration: 3:21.

Hi, My name is Alice Wong.

I'm 42 and I have a neuromuscular disability called Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

I use a wheelchair, Bi-Pap machine, Oxygen, and a hospital bed at night, Medicaid personal

assistant services.

Get all that help and social support from family and friends.

In the last few years I've gone through a significant progression with my disability.

I used to use Bi-pap only at night to prevent sleep apnea.

But I started to use it gradually more through the day.

I now use it almost all the time during the day.

I had to get used to my voice.

It sounded different.

You see, other people struggle to understand me, when I talk.

As with most of our experiences growing up as a disabled person, it's been an exercise

in being affected by internalized ableism, getting me worried about how others perceive me.

See at first, you might see me and feel sorry for me, that being attached to a tube or a

machine is not a life worth living.

I want people like myself to live on.

This year's been really rough with two, very high profile cases of young people with neuromuscular

disabilities wanting to end their lives and ultimately doing so.

And I get it, the feelings of frustration, loss of control, and overall pain and discomfort

that comes from a disabled body, but I could start with just whether disabled people have

the access and privilege, every possibility in pain management, mental health and community

supports before wanting to end their lives.

The struggle is totally real and yet I want to live on because my crip body is an amazing

work of art.

It's shaped by the elements like a piece of gnarly driftwood.

With all the pain, the oppression, the day to day shitty realities of being disabled

in a non-disabled world.

There's a lot of beauty and creativity and wisdom that emerges from my crip body.

And it's not just all about our bodies.

The drive to live on is for our survival and the communities and relationships around us.

So, I'm gonna live on as hard as I can.

While I'm keeping it 100% real.

There is a lot of collective wisdom from disabled people out there.

It can help you live on as well.

New Chinese aircraft carrier 'six times more powerful' than existing Liaoning - Duration: 1:59.

China has launched its second aircraft carrier... but the first it has ever built from scratch

with homegrown components.

It marks the latest milestone in China's superpower ambitions to build Asia's largest naval fleet.

Ro Aram has the details.

The Type 001A carrier is said to have six times more military strength than China's

existing Liaoning vessel, which was purchased from Ukraine and put into commission in the

Chinese Navy in 2012.

Development of the Type 001A carrier began in 2013 and construction two years later.

It weighs about 50-thousand tons, which is 10-thousand less than its predecessor, but

it's slightly longer with a wider command platform.

It is powered by conventional steam turbines, which makes it slower than U.S. nuclear-powered

carriers, but quicker than the Liaoning.

The vessel also houses a ski jump-style deck for take offs, which experts say is cheaper

to run than the catapults used by the U.S., but limits the diversity of aircraft on board

to smaller fighter jets.

The new carrier aims to carry 36 Shenyang J-15 multi-role fighter jets, which is 12

more than what the Liaoning can carry.

After sea trials and the arrival of its full air complement, the yet-to-be-named carrier

is expected to be operational by 2020.

Although it still has some way to go to catch up with American carriers, the new ship is

part of Beijing's bigger plan to build a navy that is unrivaled in Asia... and another carrier

-- the Type 002 -- is reportedly under construction in Shanghai.

However, these ambitions are rattling neighboring countries, as they see hidden motives behind

China's naval expansion, which adds to already high tensions in the region, including the

territorial dispute over islands in the South China Sea.

For its part, Beijing insists that its military maintains a purely defensive posture.

Late, Absent, Running Behind Schedule - My Maid is Late Again! - Duration: 6:10.

Hi there, I'm Angela Brown in this is Ask a House Cleaner.

This is a show where you get to ask a housecleaning question,

and I get to help you find an answer.

Now, today's question comes from a woman who is really frustrated.

She says her house cleaner never shows up on time.

And she's really concerned.

What should she do?

Should she fire her and find somebody new?

Because the lady does a really great job cleaning, she's just always late.

Well, first of all, and here's why that's a problem.

It's a problem.

(And I need homeowners and I need house cleaners to listen to this,) here's why it's a problem.

If a homeowner stays home in order to let the house cleaner in

and the house cleaner is late,

then the homeowner is not able to run their errands, or to go to work,

or whatever it is they were going to do.

Because they're staying at home to let the house cleaner in.

Now, most people work by schedules.

We don't just fly by the seat of our pants and aimlessly roam through the day

and do whatever we've got to do.

We're on a schedule we all have places to go and things to do.

If a housecleaner is supposed to be at your house at 8 o'clock and they don't show up

in till noon, you just spent the entire morning

at your house waiting for your housecleaner.

And that is a huge problem because unless the housecleaner contacted you, and let you

know they were going to be late so that you could readjust your schedule,

you may have pushed your activities out further in the day.

And you may have missed some work as a result of it because you weren't where you needed

to be because you stayed home to let the house cleaner in.

It's a really big concern for a variety of reasons.

So, if you're the homeowner and your housecleaner is perpetually late, my suggestion to you

would be to have a conversation with your housecleaner and find out why.

Listen with compassion and find out what is going on here.

Because there are a lot of house cleaners that are single moms

and maybe they have a sick kid that's at home.

Maybe they have some tragedy going on in their family.

Maybe their parent is ill or they are in the hospital,

or there is something that you don't know about.

So, listen with compassion because there may be a very valid reason why they're late.

If they're continually late though I mean that throws up red flags and I would certainly

have a conversation and say; "Listen, I am the homeowner.

I am the one that gives you the money, and I have a certain set of expectations.

One of those expectations is when you give me an arrival time, I expect you to be here

at that arrival time.

If you're not going to be here for whatever reason, if you're two minutes late I need a

phone call or a text."

Now for me, that is my rule in my particular company.

If you are going to be two minutes late you better be on the phone calling somebody letting

them know, because if you don't let them know, like I said, you screw up their schedule for

the rest of the day.

And there are things that come up through the course of the day maybe they were working

on a project for their boss and they're working out of their home that day then they discover;

"Oh my goodness, I don't have all the information I need.

I need to run across town and pick up some supplies or something else."

But now they can't leave because they're waiting here to open the door for you because they

don't trust you enough to give you an alarm code and a key.

And why should they trust you?

Because you can't even show up on time.

Right?

So, the more steps you take to prove your reliability and your consistency and your

trustworthiness, those particular things are what build confidence in the customer enough

to give you a key, and to let you work at their house when they're not going to be there.

Right?

So those are things that you do.

Little tiny things over and over and over, repeated over time that builds confidence

in the customer.

So, if you have a housecleaner or maid that's always late that needs to be brought up.

Let's not let's not forget about that let's not pretend like that's a big deal because

that's a huge deal.

Now because of the housecleaning industry, (and this is from the house cleaner's perspective.)

There are times we are cleaning a house when we run a little bit late.

Some house that we are cleaning is a little bit messier than we were expecting.

And in order for us to finish that house, we are going to be late getting to your house.

And so if that is the case and I'm going to request this of all house cleaners please

a quick text, to your client letting them know you're going to run a couple of minutes late.

That way there are no surprises.

Because nobody likes surprises (except maybe on your birthday.)

Right?

So let's not surprise our customers.

And if you are the homeowner and you are dealing with this particular problem, it's time to

have a face-to-face with your housecleaner.

Because if you have a really good house cleaner who is thorough and diligent and does a great

job, it would be sad to lose them over something as silly as them being late every time.

But you need to attach consequences to that.

"Two more times that you're late to my house and I will find a new housecleaner."

And you have to stick to it.

Because if you make those promises and then you don't keep them as a homeowner, you are

undoing the boundaries that you have just created.

And we all know that having boundaries on both sides, from the housecleaner side and

the homeowner side, helps everybody work better together.

So, if you don't follow your own boundaries, and just because they're good house cleaner,

and just because you don't want to go through the hassle of finding someone new

if you give them an ultimatum you need to stick with it.

Alright, that's my tip for today.

If you found this helpful please share it with a friend.

If you have a question, you can leave it in the show notes below or you can head over

to https://AskaHouseCleaner.com Until I see you again, and I do hope I see

you again, leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

14 years of Meditation but havent experienced anything, why? - Duration: 6:29.

I came across this interesting question

on internet about meditation, let me read

the question and then share what I think

about the answer. The question is, I have

been meditating for 14 years but haven't

experienced ganas or any other state

like third eye opening, astral travel or

energy moving up the spine. How can I

achieve such states? And he or she has

also put in what this person is doing

and has written focused on lower belly

for 10 to 20 minutes a day for 13 years

and have been following the breath 40

minutes a day for one year. So that's the

practice of this person and his question

is genuine that he has been investing so

much time into meditation and he has not

experienced anything. And it must be very

frustrating for the person to experience

this and then to write about it and not

understand why it is happening. What I

think is that this person has made

presumptions about what meditation is.

This person has been taking meditation

as a way to achieve something, he has set

certain goals, certain spiritual

experiences, certain powers, certain

things he has put as an expectation and

is whatever he is doing what he's

calling as meditation is with this

assumption, with this aim and my

experience says if you will have a name

with meditation you will not be

meditating. What you will be doing is

thinking, concentrating, focusing

about a certain wish that you have, you

will push a certain desire that you have

in you into your thinking process but

you'll not be meditating and it is bound

to fail, it is bound to be frustrating

and for some people who are for some

reason experiencing spiritual things by

accident or by going through a

certain practice they are also not

really understanding what meditation is.

They are also seeking spiritual

experiences which is a very small thing,

which is a very mundane expectation out

of meditation, out of spirituality. Those

who wish to experience pleasure, a bodily

pleasure or mental pleasure are the same

kind of people who would once they

get fed up with physical and mental

pleasures would want spiritual

experiences for something new and

something more. This is not what

meditation is aimed at, is something that

you will achieve out of meditation. So

this person who has spent 14 years

trying to do that needs to stop whatever

he or she has been expecting, he or she

should understand now and accept

defeat, accept failure if that is a game

if that is a quest to achieve something

in that person that desire, that wish to

achieve has to be dropped. Unless that is

done, nothing will be moving so once this

desire to achieve all these experiences

gyanas and third eye opening and

everything, once these expectations are

dropped suddenly

something changes and that's what

meditation can do for you. So first part

of my recommendation for this person is

to drop these expectations and if the

person does not do that it will be not

just 14 years there are people who

are meditating for 40 years or 40

lifetimes and nothing moves, nothing

changes as long as you keep holding on

to your expectations. That's number one,

second what this person is describing

what the techniques that this person is

doing, focusing on breath or focusing on

other things these are concentration

techniques. This is not meditation. There

is a way to move from concentration to

meditation but apparently if a person is

very stubborn he has a very strong mind

who does not want to accept its

limitations, concentration is not the

best way. For such a person they have to

use ways in which they can experience

surrender, they can experience let go and

concentrating on the breath is not going

to take you to those states, those

experiences. If this person changes

stands just even for a moment to

surrender, to let go, to having no

expectations and just sit in silence

without wanting anything out of that

moment, what will be experienced is what

is meditation. And all these questions,

all these descriptions will fall short

of what the person is experiencing.

Choice between deep sleep and meditation. - Duration: 2:07.

So let's go to the next question, what is

better, meditation or deep sleep? Better

for what? Better for my health better

for myself, the effect i would get

out of it what is better? What is

giving me a better effect? Well let's

break this down into what you want to

achieve, if you're looking for health then

and you have to choose between

meditation and deep sleep, i would say choose

deep sleep because that is what

nourishes you and takes you towards

health. Meditation is something that takes

you beyond health, towards wholeness

towards something that is built upon

health so what is fundamentally required

is that you are healthy, if you are not

physically or mentally healthy you

cannot be in meditation. And state you

are in meditation, if you really must a

displayed and you are let's say beyond

your mind beyond the soul and you're

really in a meditative state even that

spmehow somewhat comparable to deep sleep?

Yes but there is a difference. In deep

sleep everything is at rest, there is no

experience but there is also no

awareness of that state. In meditation

also everything is at rest there is no

movement there is only silence ,emptiness

just like deep sleep but there is

awareness of it and that's a very subtle

difference between deep sleep and

meditation and a very important

difference.

Can I meditate while lying in bed? - Duration: 2:35.

A lot of people consider meditation as a

tool for relaxation and hence they

think that it's also possible while

lying on the bed, so often there is the

question of people that if they can

really meditate while lying on the bed.

Yes I also saw one of these questions,

can I meditate lying on bed? And my first

question to this person would be can you

meditate at all? Can you meditate while

sitting? If the answer is yes then you

can meditate while lying on the bed, you

can meditate while walking, you can

meditate while doing any other thing but

the essential component is or the

essential thing to consider is can you

meditate? So if you can meditate, you can

meditate everywhere and the best way to

learn that, the best way to practice that

the best way to master that is to

meditate while sitting and I guess the

main reason for this is that you stay

awake during your meditation practice

and not fall asleep which is very easy

when you lay down. We have trained our

body our mind to fall asleep while we are

on the bed and with sitting, there is

something about the posture of

meditation that your energies do not let

you fall in sleep. A lot of people also

find it difficult to sit in a still

posture and hence they are looking for

ways in which they can be in a relaxed

posture and that's where maybe the

question comes from whether they

can meditate on the bed, but to all those

beginners I would advise to go through

the process of learning easy sitting

posture. It doesnt

have to be cross legged, it can be

sitting on a chair simply with the legs

on the floor but it has to be a posture

where you can be more alert you can be

more attentive your back bone is straight

and you are not naturally about to fall

asleep. Makes sense.

Wang Yi warns any chance of war on Korean peninsula should not be tolerated - Duration: 1:48.

China is continuing its diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions on the Korean peninsula.

The country's foreign minister is warning any chance of war should be avoided, but he

insists the responsibility for that... belongs to Washington.

Kwon Jang-ho has the details.

China's foreign minister, Wang Yi, has urged all parties to back away from creating further

tension on the Korean peninsula, and said that even a one-percent chance of war should

not be tolerated.

Speaking at a press conference with his German counterpart in Berlin on Wednesday, Wang fired

a warning at the U.S., saying "North Korea is not like the Middle East" and that war

on the peninsula would lead to "unimaginable consequences."

The foreign minister also said it's up to the U.S. to deal with the Pyongyang, despite

Washington's calls for Beijing to take more responsibility.

Reuters 3125 [2:48-3:02] "North Korea always claims that the development

of nuclear weapons is in response to an American military threat.

That's why it's really up to the two directly involved parties, the United States and North

Korea, to engage in talks together."

Beijing has also insisted that the deployment of the U.S. missile defense system THAAD,

which came a step closer to full installation in South Korea on Wednesday, risks further

antagonizing Pyongyang.

China once again called for its withdrawal.

Reuters 3610 [0:31-0:47] "It is not helpful to the denuclearization

of the peninsula... and peace and stability in the region.

The move hurts the dialogue process and negotiation efforts and seriously undermines China's strategic

security interests."

China stressed that although it is against North Korea's nuclear weapons program, it

is the responsibility of the U.S. to prevent new conflicts.
