Exposure.

I think that's the first thing that just comes to mind when I hear that question.

It's they need exposure.

Just exposing them to a different lifestyle isn't going to necessarily be enough to get

them to completely change their path and get them to understand that you need to start

finding out what you're good at and not what other people think you're good at and not

what you can just settle for.

For me, something that really helped, benefited me was going to a two-week summer program in

Chicago at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.

That was a meaningful, that was meaningful exposure.

It exposed me to a lot of different people, I was exposed to a lot of rich people.

These type of rich people that I just never had a chance, you know, children of rich people,

like it's just like, how?

You know, like I felt like I'm, you know, rubbing elbows with the fancy.

I stopped painting at around 4 in the morning.

Went to my dorm and finally, like, went to sleep for like an hour only to get up, run

and get my huge paint, it's like all up the sides of this wall, run down the street around

the corner, you know, through this crowded downtown city, it was just such an experience,

like, I was like, "I only see this in movies, I don't really see this in person, but I'm

here experiencing it."

That was meaningful exposure.

I feel like if a school, if those students were exposed to something like that, they

wouldn't know how to act.

They just, they'll take on the world just as I did.

SNOOZE, Sound wellness - Duration: 2:13.

We can easily describe Snooze with three adjectives:

silent, flexible and simple.

It is silent because it was conceived for this.

The trumpet shape, almost like a big woofer,

does not let out sounds but absorbs them

in the most effective and functional way,

creating a great acoustic comfort.

It is flexible, because of an innovative cover removal system

to obtain endless colours and fabrics variations.

Flexible also because its shape allows it to be composed

in an extremely variable manner on walls or ceilings:

lozenge, perpendicular, linearly, in groups, in small islands,

without any particular limitation and in a very free way.

It' simple because, thanks to a "twist and lock" system,

I can easily assemble and disassemble it without tools,

maintaining it, washing it and updating it over time.

Durability is the true concept of its sustainability

not only its recyclability

which is not by the way its core component.

In my work, it is difficult to identify

univocal inspiration cues.

I rather believe in the strength and effectiveness

of casualness principle that allows variously using cues

that come from everywhere.

The ability becomes catching these ideas,

which exsist for everyone,

and being able to evoke them somehow

in order to walk different alternatives roads

we are not used to

when we proceed with strictly rational logic.

Andra Lang: What is it like growing up in East St Louis? - Duration: 1:38.

What's it like to grow up in East St. Louis?

I wouldn't...I wouldn't say that it's any different from growing up in any other

city.

Um, it's definitely a little bit more challenging given the circumstances that you're put

in, you know?

Uh, born into a low income-based community definitely has an effect on some of the things

that you have, um, that you can or cannot get offered.

But it's definitely...uh, it has it's pros and it's cons I would say just like

anywhere.

Um, it's a nice place.

When you want to learn things, um, I feel like the most that I've gotten from living

in East St. Louis was the opportunity to actually learn things, um, through the different organizations

that I participated in.

I feel like I could have been offered more opportunities if I had ventured off into other

cities at a younger age.

But I think that for the most part it's definitely a learning environment, and when

I say that through, um, just everyday encounters and also through, uh, just the environment

I would say.

It teaches you a lot about life.

Imperative mood - Duration: 5:26.

hello everyone how are you today this is

Marc I'm doing just great thanks for asking

listen to me learn as much as you can

you'll never regret it in this lesson

we're going to look at the imperative

mood so stay tuned okay right the

imperative mood exactly it's a mood is not

a tense so we use it in two ways in

positive sentences and we need the base

of the verb + object and in negative

sentences we need do not don't plus the

base of the verb and the object so when

we use this we use it for giving direct

orders so open the door close the window

etc etc we also use it for giving

instructions so you're lost and you want

to get somewhere you ask somebody

and they answer back to you go straight

and turn right it's an instruction the

third one is for offers I have a guest

and I tell them hand piece of cake help

yourself the fourth one signs and

notices so pull push open etc number five

and here we're getting a little bit more

complicated giving friendly advice

usually used with don't but not always

the example here is don't leave me this is

imperative or be sensible without don't

the sixth one is for giving explanations

consider you may arrive late

consider would be the imperative take

imperative for example you are going out

the seventh one appealing to somebody to

do something come quickly hurry up and

the eighth one when being polite add

do study hard do sit down please

do watch my lessons now I'm going to

erase this and I'm going to show you how

to use less with the imperative mood

right so we're back with let now in

the first situation we give orders or

instructions so for example let the

teacher check on that let would be the

verb then the teacher is the object

check on would be the verb also that in

the second situation making suggestions

and in this case we add us which is the

object sometimes we like to contract it

with apostrophe s just like my example

let's meet at John's let is the verb us

apostrophe s is the object then the verb

again meet at john's john's means at john's

house the third situation would be use

me use me when offering to do something

for example let me is the object let me

take a look at that i can say to a

to a student for example let me take a

look at that at their homework the forth

situation expressing wish in formal

situations let the ceremony begin so

this is an announcement and is a formal

situation

let would be the verb the ceremony would be

the object and begin would be the verb

again so now let's recap so in this

lesson we took a look at the imperative

mood when we use it for giving advice

for example for giving instructions to

order somebody to do something etc I

also talked about let and I showed you

four ways on how to use it well that's

it for today thank you very much for

watching thank you for all your comments

don't forget to share the lesson if you

liked it if you haven't subscribed to my

channel please do so and if you want to

write your own example under this video

please do so have a great day and see

you next week with a new lesson take care

bye bye
