Korea's science and culture ministries lay out 2017 action plans - Duration: 2:31.
Korea's science and culture ministries briefed the acting president on their plans for this
year,... which include helping to achieve a smart information society.
Kim Ji-yeon shares with us the ministries' plans.
Five government offices,... including the Ministry of Science, I-C-T and Future Planning,...
have outlined their action plans for the year for Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang
Kyo-ahn.
In a briefing Friday,... the officials said their focus will be on bolstering the government's
growth initiatives and its vision of achieving a smart information society through I-C-T
innovation.
The ministries also pledged to work toward creating a healthy startup eco-system through
the expansion of the government's creative economy initiative.
"The acting president thinks that the 17 Creative Economy and Innovation Centers nationwide
have greatly contributed to building a business and growth platform for small-and-medium-sized
companies and creating the largest startup boom the country has seen in years."
Other steps include increasing Korea's I-C-T competitiveness on the global stage by making
policies focused on meeting researchers' needs, creating new markets and services through
convergence and innovation, and supporting state projects involving smart IT to better
prepare for the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution.
To do that, the science ministry says it will increase the amount of research and development
funding for basic science to more than 738-million U.S. dollars this year.
It will also provide research funds of up to 25-point-2-million dollars per person...
for one-thousand young scientists this year.
The ministry also designated ten sectors, including the Internet-of-Things, smart cars
and artificial intelligence, that it will seek to aid in generating business opportunities
and profits... and creating new services and markets.
In particular, it aims to promote the commercialization of fifth-generation LTE internet connectivity
by 2020.
It will also help increase investment in the field of new medicine and the bio sector to
more than 106-point-9-million dollars this year.
"The culture ministry says it will make use of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies
to boost tourism and culture content,... while the Korea Communications Commission says it
will work toward incorporating ultra-high-definition TV into local terrestrial channels ahead of
the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

10 has integrated with onedrive and you're able to store things on a cloud
as ridiculously easy and back that up as well as well as put other information on
your cloud or your onedrive now this is this is monthly base so that means that
you don't just buy your cloud space and you keep it forever
that means that you buy it and then every month you have to renew it
otherwise you lose it which is a fantastic business model but really
sucks you want to get out of it
let's say you have a one terabyte of all of your online videos that you've
purchased and downloaded to your computer or q some or all of your photos
that you've ever taken or all of your movies that you've taken well in order
to access them in order to continue to use them
you have to and you if you put them online and you delete them up your local
machine you don't have a physical backup you have to keep paying money to
Microsoft in order to keep that from disappearing they probably I i believe
they have certain things in place where they just doesn't automatically
disappear but theoretically they could do that if they really wanted to and
just say okay you're cut

that's just gaming and storage
I'm not to mention their office suite so Microsoft has an annual office week they
are paid the $MONEY you pay to use microsoft office excel basically
everything you went to school for you have to pay for it
monthly forever believe there are ways to pay just for the application to keep
that application but obviously 65 is what they are pushing for ever wonder
what they'll keep pushing because monthly subscriptions gives them a lot
more money than one-time payments if you pay for something once and then never
have to buy it again I let's say something cost a hundred bucks and/or it
costs a small fee of one dollar per week or one dollar per month or something
like that
now that would take a hundred months or hundred weeks or whatever to to get up
to that but after that they're making more money than if they would have to
sell it outright
also they're reaching more customers if they make it monthly based because
they're able to lower the initial cost so right now I think like adobe suites
and stuff like that cause like five hundred thousand dollars for everything
which is ridiculous amount of money for software i know that they have to pay
the bills
that's why adobe is also switch to month the month that way you can it's almost
like a loan like you're loading the software you have you're renting the
software and when you stop paying for that you are unable to use anymore so
that's basically how Microsoft is making all of its money and that's why I i
don't see and none of the research that I've done indicates to me that Microsoft
is going to switch to an operating system that is a paid base
because if they did that everyone would switch to mac and linux and Microsoft
would be out of an operating system and Microsoft doesn't comply well so
microsoft office you have to use on a windows computer onedrive is kind of
useless to store information if you have no information on the computer and I
believe Apple has its own stuff that you've been to in linux operating
systems linux operating systems are fantastic their powerful they're
lightweight i would personally use it if all games first were developed in linux
huh
but because they're like seven percent of games are developed in windows and
then like thirty percent of games developed on apple products and then you
have all the art stuff which is developed an apple and until these big
corporations tank by making a stupid decision by making an operating system a
monthly subscription that you need to pay for in order to use I don't see
linux climbing up the ranks too high too quickly just yet it may if there's some
weird super future huh feature that comes out that makes all computers a
billion times faster but basically i see kind of a linear scale of linux becoming
more and more popular and the less popular more popular anyways there are
free versions for all this google provides like 15 gigabytes so one drive
provides free 5 gigabytes google provides free 15 gigabytes just get
enough free storage mediums you'll be able to store all the information that
you ever need
I've only personally ever used information to store 10 gigabytes is
like all the games all the movies and all those that you buy outright and all
the software you can download again because you bought them and you own the
rights to them so you can download them again and use them again if you really
wanted to
as far as xbox goes xbox is still going to be xbox still going to be xbox you
can go ahead and go PS archos own ego microsoft go whatever you want to do i
personally love playing on the pc because that's where all of my any games
are being built
that's where everything I love to play is is being built as far as office goes
you have google docs you have google docs you have google docs i love google

to download something and open up a word file or work offline again Google if you
download chrome and use chrome and unplug your internet you're still able

basically microsoft and other big companies are making bank and ourself
supportive because they've switched to monthly subscriptions that's why you see
almost every big company or every startup company that that needs money
they're moving to monthly subscription even pay patreon is monthly subscription
you tube red monthly subscription the amazon prime monthly subscription just
if you can you can say monthly subscription and just have like billions
of now is before that and that would describe a website that has been built
that has a monthly subscription where you pay a monthly fee for some type of
service car loans
car insurance renter just it's weird how time and time makes more time so you
spend your time and you read now to make money which is pretty much converted
time so you spend time you spend money which is time to have more time with

Yesterday, I spent 2-3 hours working on a
video that I can't use. I had left the
memory card for this camera in my office
and, therefore, I had to use my other camera. So, I
went out filming - I filmed my morning, I
filmed driving to work; I filmed myself in
the office, in the coffee shop; out and
about on the streets; I filmed myself in a
meeting as well, but i couldn't use any
of the footage. You see, I used the wrong
settings on my camera and everything
came out looking really ugly and it was
footage that I couldn't really use for a
YouTube video. So, basically I had spent
23 hours working on something that was
completely wasted. I was, obviously, really
annoyed about this situation. I just
wasted all that time and I wasn't going
to get that time back. When things like
this happen,
you can go one of two ways: you can let
it get you down or you can learn from it
and come back stronger. Learning English
is a huge goal.
Not many people reach that C1 level -
not many people reach that level of
fluency that they want to have. As an
online English teacher, I face many
obstacles on my journey to helping as
many learners as possible. My computer
crashes, I forget my memory card, I get
sick, my wife gets sick. And the key for me
is overcoming these obstacles. As someone
who is learning English, you're going to
face obstacles too. You're going to have days
when you don't feel like learning
English; you're going to have days when
you feel shy; days when you make mistakes;
days when you watch TV shows and can't
understand a single word. So, know that
you're going to make mistakes; know that
you're not going to have a perfect
day; know that they're going to be
obstacles in your way and things that
might stop you. But if you stay
consistent with it, do the right
things and keep progressing, then you are
successful English learner.

Cha Eun-taek among key figures questioned in another busy day for independent counsel - Duration: 2:29.
Turning to the ongoing investigation into the biggest power abuse scandal possibly in
decades in this country.
As the independent counsel continues to work its way through a long list of witnesses to
get the bottom of the case, we're learning that the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, woman
at the heart of this whole scandal, on Interpol's Red List is determined not to return to Korea
for questioning under any condition.
Kwon Jangho reports.
It was another day of intense questioning at the independent counsel's office on Friday.
In a surprise summons, Cha Eun-taek, a key figure in the power abuse scandal, was brought
in for questioning for the first time.
Cha is a music video director, but is also thought to be a close aide to Choi Soon-sil,
who is accused of using her relationship with President Park to meddle in state affairs.
He was questioned by state prosecutors in a separate investigation, but this is the
first time he's been interrogated by the independent counsel, which is expected to ask him about
the relationship between Choi and the president.
ed:paul "We won't ask details covered in the state
prosecutor's investigation.
We will focus more on additional information that we have been curious about, in a preparatory
step for our own investigation."
The former presidential secretary for education and culture, and the current ambassador to
France, Mo Chul-min, has also been brought in... to answer questions about his knowledge
of an alleged blacklist of cultural figures who were critical of the president and her
policies.
Those on the list are said to have been denied state sponsorship and recommendations.
The independent counsel said it has confirmed the existence of a list, and will look at
how it was made and maintained and whether the restrictions were actually carried out.
The chief executive of Cheil Worldwide, the largest advertising agency in Korea and part
of Samsung Group, was brought in by the independent counsel as well.
Lim Dai-ki is being questioned on his company's donations of over 1 million U.S. dollars to
a sports foundation run by Choi Soon-sil's niece, Jang Si-ho.
He is the first top executive from Samsung to be called, and the counsel has said it
will likely call more from Samsung and other conglomerates as well.
"It's been over two weeks now since the counsel officially began its investigation in earnest,
and even with new witnesses called almost daily, the scale and reach of this scandal
means there are still many more to be called.

Why We Never Got To See The Goonies 2 - Duration: 6:01.
It's one of those sequels that's been rumored for years: Goonies 2.
The latest surge of Goonies hype happened in 2014, when director Richard Donner confirmed
that the long-awaited sequel was indeed going ahead, but so far… nothing.
Unfortunately for Goonies everywhere, a sequel becomes increasingly unlikely with every passing
year.
Here's why we never got to see The Goonies 2.
The scripts have sucked
In 2009, Empire magazine conducted an interview with all of the original Goonies, as well
as director Richard Donner and producer Steven Spielberg, and naturally, the interview soon
turned to talk of a sequel.
Donner was quick to blame the lack of a decent screenplay for the film's constant stalling,
telling Empire that he and Spielberg had spent a lot of energy hunting for a good script,
and that the duo "had many meetings with writers, but nothing stuck."
Cast member and weird modern vampire Corey Feldman was more positive about the prospect
of a second Goonies outing, though Donner didn't share his enthusiasm, stating there
was "no hope" of it going ahead at that stage.
Even Feldman, who doesn't have much going on right now except for...whatever this is...knows
that Goonies 2 is a dangerous game to play, saying,
"It could have a very bad backlash!
At the end of the day, and I have said this before, the only way a Goonies sequel happens,
and is forgivable to the fanbase, is if it is done right."
Feldman and co-star Sean Astin even wrote a sequel themselves and presented it to Richard
Donner, but were told that their ideas were too expensive.
Considering how much cash goes into blockbusters today, and the fact that animated prosthetics
and a giant pirate ship weren't too cost prohibitive for the original, it's hard
to imagine what Feldman and Astin turned in that was deemed too extravagant.
But either way, Astin is game.
"Yes or no: Goonies sequel."
"Someday.
I hope."

"If they want me."

And everyone knows, an angry Al Roker will not be denied.
"Spielberg!
Get on it!
Make The Goonies 2!"
Producer Frank Marshall has gone on record as saying that he won't make a sequel just
for the sake of doing it, insisting that the story has to be right before the film can
go ahead to avoid disappointing fans.
Ironically, fans ended up being disappointed by another one of his comments…
A reboot instead?
Picture this: a bunch of middle-aged Goonies have lost touch with what it means to be a
member of the team, leaving their children to revive their never-say-die attitude and
take them on a new adventure.
It writes itself, right?
Frank Marshall doesn't quite see it that way.
The producer revealed that any new Goonies project would not actually be a sequel, but
a film made "in the Amblin spirit of Goonies."
So, unfortunately for those hoping for a continuation of the story, the idea of a complete reboot
has been supported by the writer of the original movie, Chris Columbus.
Despite previously stating that the only way the film could be done was with the original
kids as parents, Columbus has since changed his tune, confirming that he's currently
on a full nostalgia-attack, and actively involved in reboots of both The Goonies and Gremlins.
"Look, there are a lot of writers who are interested in writing Goonies, but the problem
is that we're very protective because it's, it's a, such a well-loved movie.
The same goes for Gremlins.
Gremlins is a little easier…"
Because that worked out so well for Ghostbusters.
Richard Donner is getting older
As someone who's keen to see this long-awaited sequel eventually happen, Feldman has raised
fears that the project is very much time sensitive, saying,
"Richard Donner is 87 years old.
And it's like, no one really wants to make it without him.
He's the driving force behind it.
He says it's still alive.
But as we all know, when you get to that age, things slow down quite a bit.
There is a big possibility that he might not want to keep driving it."
Feldman went on to explain that Goonies 2 just wouldn't happen without Donner in the
director's chair, adding that every day that passes without the wheels in motion takes
us a day closer to it never happening.
Chunk out
Even if Goonies 2 is a sequel, they would have been forced to do it without one of the
most loved of all the Goonies.
[Retching sounds]
Jeff Cohen, the former child actor who played Chunk, nixed the idea of returning, claiming
that his new career as an entertainment attorney and author is too good to give up, even if
he does remember his acting days fondly.
"Anybody who says they intentionally give up acting is lying.
They're absolutely lying.
Uh, you know, I loved being a kid actor, it was great, but you know for me I look different,
I was evolving from Chunk to hunk, that I am today."
Cohen has become one of the go-to attorneys in Hollywood, has written a book called The
Dealmaker's Ten Commandments, and the ex-Goonie also occasionally writes about legal and political
matters for CNBC.
So, he probably doesn't have enough time to do the ol' Truffle Shuffle anymore.
"Ohhhaaaaoohhh."
Goonies go off-Broadway
Evidently fed up with waiting for a sequel to be greenlit, Donner went ahead and made
alternate arrangements to bring the Goonies back to life.
In 2015, the director announced that he was creating an off-Broadway, immersive production
of The Goonies.
He outlined his vision to Yahoo!
Movies, explaining,
"There's no seats, the venue is you go into a warehouse and there's something happening
in that warehouse and that's the play you've come to see, only you become part of it and
you travel through with actors."
The Goonies play has yet to materialize, with no details to speak of.
Donner was adamant that the show would soon be a reality, however, and while this would
surely be an unforgettable experience for any Goonies fan, Donner focusing on this project
means Goonies 2 is as far off now as it's ever been.
The closest we'll ever get is a notoriously weird Nintendo game.
But never say die, right?

Ilene Woods (who voices Cinderella) didn't know she was auditioning for the role.
The role came to her by chance after she'd done a favor for Mack David and Jerry Livingston,
who wrote the music and lyrics for the film.
The songwriters asked the actress to record a demo of, "Sing Sweet Nightingale," "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,"
and "So This is Love," which they then presented to Walt Disney.
After hearing her voice, Disney knew she was a perfect fit.
The entire film was shot in live action before animators began drawing.
Filmmakers used this technique to get a better idea of how they wanted the characters to
move around in the environment.
Actress Helene Stanley, who was also used as a reference for Anita in 101 Dalmatians
and Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, served as the live-action reference for Cinderella.
The film was nominated for three Academy Awards.
In fact, all three nominations were in the music/sound department,which makes sense because
it was so iconic.
Jaq, Gus, and Bruno were voiced by the same actor.
In fact, Jimmy MacDonald voiced several other iconic characters including: Mickey Mouse,
Chip (from Chip 'n Dale), Dormouse (Alice in Wonderland), and Goofy.
An earlier version of the script gave Prince Charming more screen time.
One of the original scripts includes a scene where the prince is hunting a deer in the
woods, before it's revealed that they are actually friends.
Cinderella is the oldest Disney princess.
In the movie, Cinderella is 19 years old, making her the oldest princess followed by
Tiana of Princess and the Frog.
Cinderella is the first non-royal blood princess.
Cinderella paved the way for other characters such as Belle and Mulan to be princesses without
actually being royal.
One of the scenes from the movie is Walt Disney's favorite animation ever.
Walt Disney loves the iconic scene where the Fairy Godmother transforms Cinderella's
torn dress into a gown.
Cinderella originated from the French story.

Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics unveil Q4 earnings estimates - Duration: 2:56.
Earnings forecast are out... which means progress report time for Korea's two biggest tech companies,
as well.
released their earnings guidance for last year's fourth quarter.
While Samsung Electronics celebrates a better than expected result,... LG saw a three-month
period in the red.
Kim Min-ji breaks down the contrasting digits for us.
It's the best report card in more than two years for Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics.
The company is estimated to have posted an operating profit of nine-point-two trillion
won,... or roughly seven-point-eight billion U.S. dollars, in the fourth quarter of last
year.
That's up almost 50 percent from the same period in 2015.
Sales came to about 45 billion dollars,... down zero-point-six percent on-year.
The forecast on operating profit beats a market consensus by almost a billion dollars... and
is the first time to top the nine trillion won mark since the third quarter of 2013.
It's also a significant turnaround from the four-point-three billion dollars it posted
in the third quarter -- which reflected losses from the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
"This time it's mostly semiconductor play.
More than half the profit is coming from the semiconductor division.
But that's also propelled by the smartphone market.
You can see the feature sets in smartphones is getting richer and more improved.
So the required memory content has to increase, so that's boosting the memory division.
But Samsung's mobile division isn't enjoying the extra boost they used to have in the Q4
because they don't have the Note 7."
For local rival LG Electronics, however, it wasn't such a rosy picture -- with its operating
income turning to the red.
The company is estimated to have posted an operating loss of almost 30 million dollars
in the fourth quarter of last year.
That compares with a profit of 292 million dollars for the same period in 2015.
Sales are expected to come in at 12-point-3 billion -- up one-and-a-half percent from
a year ago.
"It seems LG's smartphone division appears to have posted a greater loss in the fourth
quarter,... as its flagship model wasn't the best seller.
On top of that, it has been streamlining its mobile business,... and the costs from that
will likely be reflected in the fourth quarter."
On top of that, rising panel prices and seasonal factors, are expected to have also hurt profits
of LG's traditional cash cows -- like its home appliances and home entertainment sectors.
The two companies will release their final earnings reports -- with a breakdown of performance
by unit -- later this month.
